I had a great experience working with Richard. Although my computer could ultimately not be fixed, Richard was prompt with his communication and service. He doesn't run a walk-in shop like some other PC repair places. Therefore you have to call and make an appointment, or text him to communicate. He does take credit card payments online. He's fairly knowledgeable about PCs and repairing, so you can count on his expertise. If you need to replace any of the parts, keep in mind that there are additional costs to order and install the parts (as expected), so you need to consider the value of repairing the machine as opposed to buying something new. Since my machine ended up being old, the cost of repair wasn't worth it. It was however, a benefit for the peace of mind that nothing else could be worked on so I didn't have to waste any further time. Overall, I do recommend Richard for his services. read more

I highly recommend Home Net Computer Repair to anyone having a home PC problem. I especially appreciate their White Glove Service, as I don't have a car. I had a corrupted hard drive on a 12 year old HP Pavilion computer. Richard came to my apartment, disconnected my computer, installed a new hard drive and Windows 10, then returned to my apartment and reinstalled my computer and printer--all within a few days and for the reasonable price of $199. TLDR: Excellent work at extremely reasonable rates I recently had a failed AIO liquid cooler in a custom built desktop and needed to swap it out for a new cooling unit. While I normally do this type of work myself, I didn't have the necessary tools (thumbscrews were too tight) or an ideal space to do the work. I was admittedly a bit nervous to use a repair shop for my system as uptime is crucial for my job, I gave HomeNet a call and scheduled the repair since the estimated cost and turnaround time seemed reasonable. I just picked up my machine today and not only was the install done extremely professionally, Richard essentially reassembled much of the build. Admittedly, while my build worked fine (until the defective cooler), it wasn't the most organized setup. Now, it looks fantastic and the cable management is impeccable. I want to emphasize that this extra work was included in the main flat service fee (i.e., a kind bonus). The quality of the work and his knowledge of the tech make those custom build options on his site look like a great option for my next machine - I didn't notice that option when I first reached out to them, so I thought I would point that out for other folks who might have missed it too. I recently had a problem with the computer in my home recording studio. I could not get it to boot all the way up without shutting back down. This computer was built in 2011 specifically for my studio and to interface with the key components of my studio. Even though it was still running windows 7, it did exactly what I needed it to do. I dropped it off with Richard to troubleshoot but was disappointed when he called me and told me that the mother board had failed, and the computer was too old to repair. He said he could build me a new windows 11 computer for around $1800. I paid for the time he had into it and I picked up my computer. The hard drives had been removed and handed to me separately. I took to the computer out to Computer Concepts in Mill Creek where they set it up on a bench and tested it in front of me. There was nothing wrong with the mother board. They spent quite a bit of time with me asking every question they could about how I use the computer and what else I have hooked up to it. After leaving it with them they determined the problem was in the power supply and battery. They did recommend I replace the two older hard drives with one newer high-capacity hard drive. Now I can keep my same tower and just hook everything back the way it was for less than half the price of what Richard wanted to build a new computer that I would have had a hard time interfacing. I am sure Richard builds great computers but that's not what I went to him for. read more

I had a panic attack this evening -- my old ipad that I don't use but kept charging "just in case" wouldn't start. When I looked closer I saw all the edges coming up on it! I read online this was a swollen battery and it would very possibly explode, or cause a fire, or leak battery acid on fingers and ... more! I put it outside. Called Home Net because they were open til 8pm. They answered right away -- no music, no keypad choices, no electronic voice saying "sorry, I didn't get that". And said -- don't worry! I just had a wonderful experience with this company. I started having issues with my laptop keyboard (sticky 'h') and got several expensive bids to fix it, then searched Yelp and found HomeNet. Richard came up with an inexpensive solution: buy an identical model used and swap out the hard drive. That left me with one perfectly functioning laptop and a backup for my spouse to use at home, all for only $150 more than I would've payed for a repair. So I bought a Lenovo Idea Pad from Office Depot (yes it was actually less than Amazon) and it won't stay locked to WiFi. Which of course is strange, So do a bit of research and this company is highly regarded. So I call, and the owner knows exactly what the issue is after 12 seconds. He explains that essentially I got a lemon, and if he cracks it the warranty will be voided. He tells me he doesn't want to take my money and I should just return it. I had a serious issue with my desktop computer that included a power supply gone bad and a video card that decided to overheat and melt the onboard fan - both of which occurred as I was halfway through reinstalling the OS. I was in the process of both moving *and* starting back to grad school, and I had no time to cart my ass across the lake to Fry's to buy parts and take the time to jack with it. I called Richard, and he was extremely understanding and helpful. He agreed to stop by and pick the system up that day and was able to look it over the next day. He called me to discuss options for replacement hardware (he even offered discounts on some second-hand parts he had at the shop), and delivered the unit back to me in a few days - all for a price that was more than fair. The first time I went to Home Net, my old Dell XP desktop's bios battery needed replacing. I didn't want to go to a big shop for a job that I probably should know how to do. I wanted it done fast and sure and at a place near home. Checking out local phone directories, and the web, I found Home Net. I expected to leave the cpu, but Richard said he had some time just then and why didn't I just go get some coffee at the shop next door. Which I did, and came back with The Stranger, which I read for a few minutes before, voila, my machine was ready to go. I would have left the machine; Richard didn't have to be nice. But he was, and the bill was reasonable, and I went home with a functioning machine. Today, the fan on my HP laptop started *really* sounding bad, so I ran the machine down to the shop around 2 pm and left it. I'd use the desktop for the weekend. Then at 4, although it was after Saturday hours, the shop called and said the machine was ready to go, come on down and get it, we're still here. Although I couldn't jump in my car because it was charging, Richard offered to drive it to me (he was going that way). Which was fantastic! I'm writing on the laptop -- the quiet laptop -- right now. Wonderful going -out-of-the-way customer service! Next time, I'll probably have a problem that truly takes time, but I don't care. My laptop's monitor stopped working after I dropped it. The laptop itself was fine, but the built-in display was shot. Before taking it to HomeNet, I'd taken it to another local computer repair company. They held onto it for a week, shipped it back and forth between two stores, ran various diagnostics on it, told me a memory card was failing and some other issue (cracked CPU socket if I recall correctly) would cause the whole system to fail "in a few months" ... but apparently didn't check to see if the display panel had failed. Eight months later -- during which time the laptop worked flawlessly while plugged into a docking station -- I somewhat hesitantly took it into HomeNet, expecting another useless expenditure of $50 for "diagnostics". Instead, Richard (owner and technician) cut the Gordian Knot and quickly confirmed the display panel was dead. He ordered and installed a new one and tonight, for the first time in months, I have a laptop with a working built-in display. Someone who looks for and finds the simple -- correct -- solution for most problems is someone who knows their stuff, cold. That's what HomeNet did. I'll confidently return to them the next time I have a hardware problem I don't want to take on myself. read more

I recently had a bit of a computer crisis. My computer somehow got infected and would no longer even turn on. I took it to a small computer shop I noticed down the street and hoped for the best. The man who runs/owns the place was amazing! He did a great job at explaining what happened and what needed to be done. Crisis! Water split on laptop!!! And these guys came to the rescue! A flat rate? To figure out what parts might need to be replaced? Who can beat that??? One of the reasons I give them a 5 star rating is because he went above and beyond what I would have expected a repair company to do. Initially, he tested the motherboard and it wasn't working. He then proceeded to test each piece of the computer... and they all worked. Then he put it back together and it wouldn't work. By trying to connect each piece he found out that it wasn't the motherboard, but the keyboard that was stopping it from turning on... so instead of paying another $150 - $200 I had to only pay an additional $35 for the keyboard! If I had went to another repair shop, I would have paid for every hour they took to test each part to ensure they were working... and I would have paid an arm and a leg! Or, they would have just said it was the motherboard and made me get another one... losing all my data! The other reason I gave them a 5 star is because of the personal touch they added to the service. I felt like I was talking to a friend and not some tech'ee that wanted to sound smart and cool or talk down to me. So if you're looking for a personal touch and to save some money, I would 100% recommend these guys! read more

Can't review their work since I didn't end up getting my computer serviced here. Can say their customer service sucks. I needed RAM and network diagnostics. They wanted to schedule me for both a home and in-shop visit but couldn't tell me why this was necessary despite repeated questions. I ended up cancelling the appt sending a curt email stating why. Hey if it was my small biz I'd want to know. I got back a RANT; the owner went off on me. His email covered religion, the important people he knew, his community service record and an offer for free service immediately followed by a sarcastic insult. Huh? I wasn't sure what to think but the guy did bother to reply so I sent an explanation of how and why I arrived at my interpretation of events. His response explained why they needed both service visits (which I didn't totally agree with but at least it made sense), a reference to my ignorance, and an admonishment that I should ask for clarification before jumping to conclusions. Umm. That. Was. What. I. Was. Doing. On. The. Phone. There was never any acknowledgement that the conclusion I arrived at was logical based on events. On the upside he did offer me free service, sort of. He did suggest someone else for me to go to. He did respond... In hindsight I think the whole thing was a misunderstanding but being "customer serviced" by Home Net was unpleasant and I don't recommend it. read more

I had a virus and I also wanted to increase my RAM. They were great. I like that they come over and pick up the machine so I don't have to deal with traffic or parking. Richard was friendly and knowledgeable. The price was fair and when he returned the system I asked him to take a look at another machine in the house and he made it run faster for us and it was only a little extra for that added work. After trouble shooting my Lenovo gaming laptop and figuring out that my ssd was shot, I brought it in to Richard. He was very friendly and gave me a flat rate for labor. All I had to do other than that was pay for the part. I mentioned I didn't mind a clean wipe of the hard drive because it was in such bad shape, but he went ahead and salvaged everything he could. Richard also offered to switch me from windows 8.1 to windows 7 for free! He was extremely quick, and guaranteed he wouldn't give my laptop back until it was running in top performance. My first review, only because this was such a mess, I don't want anyone else to have such an expensive waste of time and money. I don't like having to say something like this, but I read reviews before I hire and I appreciate them completely. I now realize that businesses also change, so look at the dates of these reviews, before you hire. Richard came to my home, high, mad at his last client, cussing and more. He spent all his time and mine, in my home talking about inappropriate subjects around my child. I sent him the letter below. He did not respond, I still have laptop issues & still missing a laptop that he kept (without my permission). He actually stole my laptop, so bizarre. Such a mess! Richard, I looked over the bill and you marked that the ASUS was dead. The ASUS was / is the brand new laptop I have had only for a few weeks. You did return the ASUS, though poorly. The Acer is the largest laptop I had, you said the Acer was probably not one to be fixed. Why didn't you return it? I specifically said I would still want it back, corrected or not. I have to say Richard, I am definitely not happy with your work performance. The ASUS laptop (brand new windows 8) I ask you about, only that I could not print from my wireless printer, you completely made useless. Yes I did say that some of the weird apps, sliders and pop ups were aggravating, but I did not ask you to take it home and wipe it clean. I really did not ask you to make all of the changes you did either. I spent days getting it so I could work on it. You also deleted (as you did with all 6 of the PCs you took) word, publisher, quicken, AND all of my software programs. I guess I can understand the other 5 PCs could not be fixed without wiping them clean, but this ASUS was not broke, slow, or otherwise an issue. This is my new work computer and you wiped it OUT, and it was not broke, nothing was wrong with it. You wiped out very expensive programs that I now have to replace, and there is no reason for it. What were you doing?? The other 3 PCs you "worked" on are just as disappointing. I find it hard to believe that you have a business doing this kind of work. (BTW, I was a customer of yours years ago, because I found a backup gold CD with your name on it. I kind of remember that situation. Obviously, I wish I had remembered it earlier). Drop my laptop off or mail it. I did not give you permission to take it. If your normal procedure is to wipe out everything on a laptop and hand it back, still slow, with only the very basic bones of a PC, than you should tell your paying clients that ahead of time. Your clients should know that they will need to buy all new software, etc.., in order to use their new 'fixed' PC. Maybe if you were not smoking pot on the way to a "JOB", you would have been more on top of it. Instead of showing me movies of you and your wife, girlfriends and lays for 35 minutes, you should have taken notes on what your client wanted. Both my daughter and I were uncomfortable with your behavior here, although for some reason I mistakenly still believed you would be able to do your work. My one-year-old hp desktop had a power supply issue. I took it to best buy (where I originally purchased it) and they pretty much told me to just go ahead and buy a new one, which would have cost me around $1000 after everything was said and done (cost of the new computer, software, data recovery, etc), or they could send it off for repair, which they said would take a minimum of 4 weeks. I looked around on yelp for an alternative, and I'm glad I found home net. Richard confirmed it was just the power supply issue. I have a slimline HP that has an unusually small power supply, so it was a part that needed to be special ordered, but he offered to put a temporary part in my computer so I could use it while he was waiting for the new part to come in. It took a few days to get the new part, but considering best buy quoted me 4 weeks and I ended up spending far less money than I would have buying a new computer, I'm very satisfied .
