We knew the time was slowly inching towards having to euthanize her and we realized that she was really suffering, so we needed to let her go. We first spoke to Jasmine and she explained everything and told us so much about Dr. Sara. So, the date was set and Dr. Sara came to our house. Dr. Sara was very compassionate and caring. She really walked us through the process and explained every step thoroughly so we would know what to expect. As good as you can put down your pet, this is it. I had a 20 year old German Shepherd Husky mix who was...tired. She was never in pain, but she was obviously at the end. Everyone from Home Heart was so professional, caring and the whole event was smooth. I was given the run down, my dog was able to sit up once, so we all have her a hug. They kept my mind occupied: I was speaking about my dog from the day I found her at the shelter, to going out to bars, parties road trips, moving, how friends would ask to babysit my easygoing 50 pound pup... It has taken me since January to write this review, as I have yet to find a peaceful closure when thinking of my beloved PD Cesar. I didn't want to give them a 1 star review, as in person and over the phone they went above and beyond leading up to his death and helping to aid me in our home to peacefully say goodbye. It was after the service that I feel it left me extremely uneasy and with a need to warn others of their practices, as I was not made aware of their after death procedures. Once their vet administered euthanasia and he was no longer breathing, to the best of my knowledge, she told me to bring him down into her car and I believed she was going to take him to the crematorium. As the crematorium, Pet meadows, is only a few towns over from me, I excepted to receive his ashes later that week. When I heard or recieved nothing, I called Pet Meadows to find out that they still didn't have his body and he was STILL with Home Heart Vet now all the way in Brooklyn. When I texted the vet about my missing dog, she said he was safe and being delivered to the crematorium in the next couple of days. I was in shock, his body apparently was in a freezer this entire time with HOME HEART VETS in Brooklyn. Why?! Why didn't anyone tell me he was going to Brooklyn to be frozen? Why did I get a defensive response back basically not admitting any wrong doing. Why didn't they ask me if I wanted to bring him there myself if they couldn't just take him two towns over in NJ where I lived? To this day, I still think about the why's and what could have beens. I have fears something more was done to him and I truly hope that those fears are just in my head. When I rreceived a picture of his frozen body from the crematorium before his service, there was definitely something off. I understand he was frozen so he obviously won't look the same as alive, but it seemed as if he didn't have eyes and his nose was not centered to his mouth. It's an image and haunting thought I wish I never had to have. Pd was an amazing dog that didn't deserve an end like he did. If I only knew it was going to take 14 days in a freezer in Brooklyn before we could see him find peace, I would have just taken him the same day to Pet Meadows myself and had true peace and closure for my boy.
