Thank you so much! Even though they're out of the area in NY I needed help in, the lady on the phone was so kind as to refer other vets that might be able to help me. This small detail just makes the world of the difference. Thank you so much, you can really see that they care (evidenced by them sharing info of other vets to help), and also hear that they care, they took the time to wish me well. Again small things that make the world of a difference. Thank you! Had been calling different vets for quite some time with no luck, then I came across your vet and just wanted to say thanks and leave this review. read more

Dr Leshanski had been taking care of my girl for the last five years. And I can't believe I never left a review. I was recommended him my girl's old vet in Queens who didn't do visits in Manhattan and I cannot begin to say how lucky we are to have found him. I have been to so many vets over the years with my fur babies, some who look at you like a checkbook, to the point of telling me "maybe you should go elsewhere" when her nerves got the best of her (I'm looking at you Animal Medical Center) and others who put the needs of the animal above all else. He not only put my Leia's needs front and center but his care and compassion for the pet's companions, I can't say we're owners, was above and beyond. He gave my girl five more good years of life. Dealt with all my stupid questions and emails with patience and care. And he was here to gently ease her on her way. Anyone who needs a vet to take care of their furbaby. Please reach out to him. You can not find better. read more

Dr. Leshanski is amazing. An absolute wonder. Skilled and kind. Down to earth and so knowlegeable. My cat Cookie had upchucking episodes. Couldn't figure out what the trigger was. Dr. L. suggested antiacids (tiny dose) and it did the trick!! Of course, just to keep me on my toes, Cookie does still have the very rare upchuck. Dr. L and Henry come here and all is good. What a blessing - no terror stricken rides to the vet. I feel so grateful to him. Emily is the other secret weapon ... she is incredibly kind. I couldn't recommend him more. read more

Thank you so much for the wonderful care you gave to Henry and Max! Dr. Leshanski is the kindest, most compassionate man I have ever met. We reached out to him at the worst time in our lives and he was always there for us. Although we lost our sweet boy Brodie last week, I am so grateful that we had Dr. Leshanski and Emily there to support and guide us. And I know that had I found this wonderful doctor sooner, we would have had Brodie with us longer. read more

Dr. Leshanski and his team are wonderful. It's totally worth it to pay a little extra given the low stress result. Same as calling an Uber both ways, actually! Solid medical advice for my two guys Jacques and Mingus who are very comfortable with these guys. read more

We met Dr. Jonathan Leshanski and Emily Leshanski- two extraordinarily caring people- under the worst possible circumstances: our 15-year-old cockapoo, Maggie, showed signs of declining health and diminished quality of life despite our best efforts and continued work with her primary veterinary care provider (a veterinary practice she had been going to for years). Our primary care provider had cautioned us (based on multiple diagnostic screenings and evaluations) that Maggie was showing signs of her age, and we made arrangements to keep her comfortable, mobile, and as independent as possible. Still, the inevitability of what was to come broke our hearts. Every second with Maggie, from the moment she came into our lives until those last difficult days, was a gift. We knew that, when the time came to make the heart-breaking decision to help ease her passing, we wanted Maggie to feel safe, comfortable, and surrounded by loved ones in an environment that was familiar to her: her home. Because it was an impossible request for our normal veterinary practice to accommodate at-home care, we sought the extraordinary: a veterinary practice that makes house calls- enter At Home Veterinary and Dr. Jonathan Leshanski. Our first interactions were with Emily in our initial consultation. Emily was nothing short of compassionate and understanding of Maggie's needs as well as incredibly responsive and, above all, kind. She answered all of the questions we had, and we discussed the options for at-home hospice assessment and other services offered by Dr. Leshanski. We discussed the process for making final arrangements and decided to wait and see how Maggie was doing. We were incredibly fortunate to enjoy a few more months of Maggie's love and remarkable company while steeling ourselves for the inevitable time when we would have to say goodbye. One day, after four more beautiful months of stolen kisses, short walks, affectionate nuzzles, and naptime cuddles (and lots and lots of love), Maggie showed us signs that she might have to leave us, soon. We were devastated, but we knew that we owed it to Maggie not to let her suffer; we also trusted that Dr. Leshanski would let us know if we were making the right choice. We reached out to Emily (who was just as patient, caring, and kind as ever) and arranged for an at-home visit with the understanding that it might include Dr. Leshanski's recommendation to help ease Maggie's pain and cross the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Leshanski was able to accommodate a visit with Maggie the following day, and we made the impossibly difficult decision to help Maggie find peace. Dr. Leshanski didn't just help Maggie live her last moments with the dignity and grace that had become characteristic of her time with us, he helped all of us confront our grief and gave us the time we needed to say our final goodbyes. Dr. Leshanski also monitored Maggie throughout the process to ensure that she was not in any pain or distress. Dr. Leshanski promised us that he would treat Maggie with the same respect and care as "one of his own", and offered his condolences as well as an invitation to reach out to his office for grief counseling services. Dr. Leshanski's practice is, indeed, extraordinary and we are grateful to Jonathan and Emily for all they have done for us and for our beloved Maggie. Maggie had to leave us that day, but there is no question that she will remain in our hearts and minds always. She touched the lives of so many with her unbridled love and affection, and we will forever be humbled by the experience of having gotten to know, care for, and love her. It was truly an honor to be loved back by such an amazing companion. We are absolutely resolved that seeking the services of At Home Veterinary, Dr. Jonathan Leshanski and Emily, was the best possible decision for us; their practice is unparalleled and unmatched in their compassion, professionalism, and genuine concern. Thank You! read more

We could not have been more happy with Dr. Leshanski and his wife's Emily undivided attention during this difficult time in our lives. Our sweet and loving senior kitty of almost 20 years had to be euthanized and it was the hardest decision we had to make. Emily listened to our situation and provided nothing but support and kindness. We were able to schedule a visit the next day, despite having a busy holiday schedule. Dr. L arrived on time, in full PPE, and very respectful of our home. He offered to take off this shoes and walked us through each and every step. Our baby girl passed away, peacefully, in the comfort of her own bed, her favorite blanket & toys, and with us by her side. We were all able to kiss her goodbye and provide to her as many kitty hugs as you needed. Dr. L did not rush us at all. He also provided us with some much needed coping tips & resources for everyone who our baby girl left behind (both two legged and four legged). We all miss our cat immensely and happy to know she crossed the rainbow bridge with ease and by us by her side. She was cremated at Pet Meadow with respect and dignity. Everything was returned to us as expected and more! We would highly recommend at home vet services! read more

Dr. Leshanski has cared for many of my animals over the years. I am so grateful to have had his advice and care through hospice (end stage cancer) compassionate euthanasia, aging animals, and nearly every bit of mischief/trouble an older dog can get into in NYC. I appreciate his depth of knowledge and experience, including Eastern medicine and herbal support. Both he and his wife, who takes all my calls and initial questions, are kind, caring, take the time to listen and understand my concerns, and even help me determine whether a visit is necessary - helping me make economical decisions where possible and wise. It's clear Dr. Leshanski and Emily genuinely care for all the animals they have treated and known, beyond the basic client or patient foundation. read more

We needed at-home compassionate euthanasia on short notice. Dr. Leshanski and his team were able to provide that for us, and to do so with a level of empathy and kindness that is rare and precious. Y'all - yallllllllll. I have a cat that could questionably be the spawn of satan on any given day, and doc came in with the ease of a saint in scrubs to check her out and take her blood. Let's all look past the fact she peed on him, or that she pooped at the end, or that she sang him the fury filled song of her people the entire time, just for good measure and to let them know she meant business. The fact is, the kindness and gentle care that Dr. Leshanski and Emily showed us are beyond compare. If you're like me, and have a cat that very well could have been a gremlin in a past life, this is the vet for you - my little ball of rage agrees. read more

Wonderful experience and I am sure my kitties Jacques and Mingus really appreciated not having to "commute" to the vet! Dr. Leshansky and his team (Kevin and Emily) have a great thing going with these house calls, and I am very happy to have heard about them. Good communication every step of the way and I even got a detailed, lengthy tutorial on training kitten Mingus with the toothbrush. :) Obviously big animal lovers! read more

Dr. Leshanski and his team are all spectacular. Rufus has been his patient for years. Both Dr. Leshanski and Henry (his vet tech) are so kind, even though my cat can be difficult. Dr. Leshanski is one of the most empathetic and compassionate humans I have met. I was referred by my usual home vet, who was unable to come, and some dear friends. It was an emergency and very short notice and the amazing Emily shuffled his schedule to make it possible for him to come help ease my elderly and very sick cat's passing. I will be forever grateful to him and his team. They did not know me or my cat but they immediately made me feel like they had cared for her for years and I knew she would get the best of care. Dr. Leshanski offered lots of sound advice (and hugs at the end) for me and was amazing. They took care of the cremation for me as well. I recommend Dr. Leshanski and his team strongly, without the slightest hesitation. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I can not thank Dr. Leshanski and Emily enough for making an extremely painful and sad experience in our lives easier on us. Their kindness can't be understated. On January 2nd of this year, the time had come to put our 12 year old Bengal, Luna, to sleep after a battle with cancer. The worst of it lasted less a day because the doctor made the extra effort to come to us on a holiday weekend. Watching the last few hours of her life was horrible, and all we wanted was to comfort her with our love and presence and make sure we could end her pain as quickly as possible. Honestly, Dr. Leshanski came to our rescue and we will always be eternally grateful. read more

At 4:30am I knew it was the day that I would have to say goodbye to my sweet Chloe. I emailed At Home Veterinary early in the morning and got a reply shortly after even though is was before their listed business hours. Emily (who is absolutely lovely) told me that Dr. Leshanski had a full day but could come after his last appointment in the evening or if they had a cancellation. Later, Emily called to inform me there was a cancellation and gave me a window of 2 hours to expect him. Dr. Leshanski showed up in that time window and was immediately sympathetic to what I was going through. He explained everything that would happen in detail and made me feel very comfortable with the process. At one point, Chloe, who was too weak to walk by this time, managed to drag herself over to Dr. Leshanski to check him out. Then, after her inspection she laid an approving paw on his foot. It was as if she was telling me he was ok and thanking him for coming to help release her. This was both a heartbreaking and absolutely beautiful experience that I felt blessed to have with my beloved kitty. Thank you, Dr. Leshanski for giving me this comforting memory that I will always cherish. And thank you for treating Chloe as if she were your own and giving her the love and respect that she deserved. read more

There's not much I can add to the previous reviews to express our appreciation to Emily and Dr. Leshanski for allowing our 14.5 year old labrador to pass peacefully (during a pandemic) in our home and our arms. We chose Dr. Leshanski when we knew it was time for our dog and immediately knew we made the right choice after speaking with Emily. She was kind and supportive from the start, and fit us in quickly as Logan was declining rapidly. She listened to me sob while recounting my daughter's first experiences around our dog. We just wish we could give the doctor a hug to show him our appreciation. He was extremely understanding, gentle, and let us know exactly what to expect during the process in as kind a manner as possible. He is truly an angel and made one of the toughest afternoons of our lives a little bit more bearable. He offers an honorable service. We can't recommend him enough. read more

I can't recommend Dr. Leshanski enough. He and Emily are wonderful and caring and greatly helped me when I knew it was time to say goodbye to my sweet cat, Morton. Morton had been diagnosed with advanced kidney disease, so I knew I'd have to make the incredibly tough decision about euthanasia imminently. I wanted it to be done at home to make it as peaceful as possible and I luckily stumbled upon all of the other glowing reviews on this page. I reached out to find out more about how it would work and Emily responded quickly with kind words and clear details on how everything would work when the time came. This really helped put my mind at ease, so I could enjoy my remaining time with Morton. When it was clear the end was near, Emily helped us schedule a time for Dr. Leshanski to come over the next day. He was extremely compassionate and understanding. He walked my partner and I through the next steps and gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. He treated Morton as his own and I will be forever grateful that he offered this peaceful end to our sweet boy's life. Thank you so much to Dr. Leshanski and Emily. read more

Dr. Leshanski and his assistant Henry were great! We have a cat who goes into complete distress when we have to put him into the carrier, so we decided to use At Home Veterinary for his wellness exam and vaccinations. Dr. Leshanski was well prepared, read over our cat's previous records from the old veterinarian before arriving, and was able to answer all of our questions. I started using Dr. Leshansky during the pandemic because my cat had a a very bad response when I had to hand her off to her regular vet and wait outside. I've been using him ever since because he is so good. He knows his stuff; loves animals, and they let him do anything. I have a 19 year old who has had kidney disease f or four years, but with the doc's guidance, she's still here and vital. Henry, the doctors assistant, is also phenomenal. He helped me learn how to give my cat subcutaneous fluids and was so patient with me. He also is happy to refer to specialists when appropriate. read more

Dr. Leshanski and his wife, Emily, are angels on Earth. They made one of the worst days of my life more manageable with their compassion, empathy, gentleness, and understanding. I called half a dozen different vets when it was time for my cat to go. She had been sick for a long time, but I knew it was her time. I wanted her to be able to go peacefully at home. The vets I called weren't available so I started searching online. I came across At Home Vet and was distrustful that anyone could have so many positive reviews over the years. No one is *that* good. I was desperate so I called. His schedule was full, but he made time at the very end of the day to come out. He made it out at almost 9pm. He took time away from his family and came out at the end of a long day just to help me let my cat go at peace in her home because she was not doing well and I did not want to make her suffer any longer. He was so kind and compassionate during the visit. I had had to let pets go in the past and it is always very hard. This was the most peaceful and serene it had ever been. He was very professional and I was even able to get her ashes several days earlier than expected. Someday when the time comes for my other pets, I know that I will be using him. Truly the best!! I recommend him to anyone who wants at home vet services. I would absolutely trust him with anything I needed for my pets. Thank you Emily and Dr. Jonathan!!! read more

Dr. Leshanski, his veterinary assistant, and his office assistant were all lovely. Today we had to put our beloved jack russell poodle - Bucky - to sleep. My children are living all over the world, and were devastated to hear the news that they would be losing Bucky. Dr. Leshanski very kindly talked to them all on a group call, explaining Bucky's prognosis and gently answering their questions about what might happen in Bucky's body if we elected not to go through with it. In the end, the kids and I all understood that we were making the right choice, and Dr. Leshanski offered that I should take all the time I needed before he administered the drugs. After it was over, he said that I could call his office any time if I needed to talk about my grief, and also mentioned that he can put me in touch with grief groups. Finally, he hugged me and said a number of comforting words that I don't remember. Dr.Leshanski emanates compassion. I cannot recommend him highly enough. read more

At a time of great sadness and grief, Dr. L was the most compassionate and caring man who provided us with the most professional and caring service for myself, partner, and our feline buddy Max. I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers that 5 stars does not do justice for his caring and sensitive services. When we realized that our sweet boy was showing us signs that it was his time, we reached out on a Sunday night to Dr. L's office hoping we could schedule something ASAP so our friend could be at peace. Dr. L and his team understood the urgency of our request, and were responsive within one hour of my yelp message. His team explained everything clearly in terms of prices and procedures by email. Dr. L was technically out of our service area, but the team was able to go above and beyond to help us at our time of need, setting up an appointment for the very next day. I cannot stress enough that this practice really understood how urgent this matter was, and made it possible to help our friend pass with dignity and without suffering from the cancer anymore. While at our home, Dr. L was the perfect balance of compassionate, caring, professional, and calm. He walked us through what he would do and explained everything in a gentle way. He let us send our buddy off in the most peaceful way possible and allowed us to take the time that we needed to cry and say goodbye to Max. Thank you again Dr. L and team for your caring nature and for doing a service that is so difficult and requires the utmost compassion. Thank you for treating our situation as the emergency that it was and going above and beyond to provide the best service. My partner and I both agree that he was the perfect person, and we couldn't have asked for anything more during such a hard time. He made everything a lot easier, and showed true compassion and love during one of the worst moments. Thank you again for your service, you are a unique and wonderful Vet. I'm happy good people like this still exist in our world. Thank you again, Madison, Phil and our angel Max read more

Dr. Leshanski is fantastic. 5 stars doesn't do him justice. He deserves 10!! I highly recommend his services for any pet including those scared to go to the vet, hospice or at home euthanasia, & pretty much anything! The cost for a home visit and 2 medications for 10 days each was incredibly reasonable - I was pleasantly shocked!! It is slightly more than a vet visit, but the difference in price is negligible especially for the service provided. He has a pleasant demeanor, & cautious approach. He always errs on the side of life. He specializes in hospice care, end of life at home euthanasia, accupuncture, holistic health care, and uses a combo of eastern and western medicine (traditional and alternative medicines). I was impressed by the availability of appointments - I could've had an appointment within 5 hrs of calling. His assistant Emily, was truly kind and was able to accommodate my specific timing needs. His assistant Emily will call you when the doctor is within 15 min away from your residence. The doctor does provide an hour window that He will arrive. Because he NEVER wants to rush an appointment. Mine was between 8-9pm. He arrived promptly within the time allotted, & spent over an hr and a half with my dog & me going thoroughly over everything - my options of euthanasia or if I wanted to give a last ditch effort!! In my 20yrs of owning pets/ companion animals I've never had a vet give me more than 30 min of his time - max!! I highly recommend Dr. Leshanski. You will NOT be disappointed at all!! Thank you Dr. Leshanski me & Rocky are extremely grateful for all your time, energy, & effort. read more

After a couple weeks of substandard care by BluePearl Downtown, it was deemed necessary that our 18-year old cat Chef had to be euthanized. Dr. Leshanski's operator Emily responded to our phone call very quickly and scheduled an at home visit from Dr Leshanski that evening to help Chef move on to his next life. First of all, Emily is super-sweet and understanding. She does not treat you like a "customer". She treats you like a real human being whose pet needs help. If only more people on the phone were like Emily on the phone! Secondly, Dr. Leshanski arrived promptly as scheduled and wore full protective gear as per Covid-19 guidance. He also graciously took off his shoes at the door. He was very patient with us as we said our last goodbyes to Chef, and waited in the next room without pressuring us in any way, even though it was already 7pm. This might be my first, and most difficult review to write. Dr. Jonathan Leshanski came into my life, in two very difficult moments. He is without a doubt one of the kindest, most empathetic souls that I've ever crossed paths with. In November 2017 our cat Cole had suffered a series of health setbacks. It took a lot for me to realize that the end was near. I made an appointment with Dr. L, but Cole passed naturally well before his at-home euthanasia appointment. During the night, Dr. L gave support, advice, and helped us at we said goodbye to Cole. When they arrived to pick up his body, both Dr. L and his wife (the lovely Emily) arrived to give us hugs, listen about the life of little Cole, and cremate his body. At a time when emotions were so RAW, this pair of animal health professionals showed compassion, guidance, and absolute kindness. When Cole passed, our even older cat Gilly, hadn't been to the vet in years. Because even though our Gilly cat was a fluff ball of love, around a vet he became WORSE than the most EVIL CAT EVER. He could make zoologists uncomfortable, vets that worked with lions, tigers, and bears, didn't want to be around Gilly. Dr. Leshanski was up to the challenge of giving Gilly a once over. God-love-him. As my cat SCREAMED bloody murder, he whispered sweet nothings into his ear, assuring him that all was well, and that that is was going to be okay. Dr. L was devastated to give me the news that Gilly had both a cancerous tumor and kidney disease. Even though Gilly had lived an awesome 17 years. He gave great insight, great advice, and when Gilly started his ascent downhill, it was Dr. Leshanksi that gave me clarity to make a very tough decision. When Dr. L arrived at our home, he explained every step, and allowed my husband and I to take the reins. In my embrace, and in the comfort of our home, Gilly was put to sleep in my arms. As Gilly took his last breaths, Dr. Leshanski stroked his head and said "I'm so sorry my friend." We were so lucky to have this option, and to be surrounded by such love from Dr. Leshanski, he understood how hard this moment was. You would be foolish not to utilize his services, wisdom, and kindness when dealing with your four-legged family member. read more

Our cats loved him (seriously is this guy a cat whisperer?). We have seriously spent thousands on vet bills and gotten nowhere and he gave us an arsenal of ideas to try. I'm beyond thrilled. He is a genuinely good person who you can tell loves animals. This is a very difficult review to write, but one that needs to be said. Our cat had been fighting a downhill battle with lymphoma.
