Rivergate Veterinary Clinic - My Cat Stella that he took care of ! - Veterinarians Near Me - New York, New York

If I could give zeros stars I would. Thank you SO much for wasting my afternoon Rivergate! This was my first time here and I waited nearly 40 minutes for my dog to be seen while the entire time he laid on the floor shaking from anxiety. I asked not once but twice to see how much longer only to be met with an attitude by the two receptionists. At one point one of the receptionists looked at the other and said "Let me do this so at least I look like I'm busy." What?! Who says that!? My sincere apologies for asking you to do your job. The best part was when they let another patient in ahead of me that was there after me. After my poor dog started crying and continuously shaking, I got up to leave, only to be met with "ok we'll reschedule you." No apologies. No nothing. Please don't bother rescheduling people who you clearly are able to neglect for 40 minutes. We won't be back. read more

We love Rivergate! Our primary doc Dr. Eve is the BEST -- she's such a thoughtful, talented, and caring veterinarian. Even our pup Daphne loves her vet visits -- every time we walk by, she stops at the front door of Rivergate and asks to go in. read more

Our cat recently passed about a month ago and we told the vet office since we had to cancel an appointment with them. They never sent a condolence card or anything. Instead they continuously message us about being due for an appointment which I feel like is such an insensitive thing to do when we're already grieving. Unprofessional vet clinic - I would avoid this place and not recommend it to anyone looking for a good vet! They don't care about your pets, they only care about the money. Also, if you were thinking of hiring the vet tech Tatiana as a pet sitter -- DON'T! She missed a dose of our cat's medicine, didn't clean the litter box or change the water daily, and then scammed us by asking for more money afterwards. For a vet tech, I would have expected better care but apparently everyone at Rivergate only cares about the money. read more

So glad my friend recommended this clinic! Dr. Eve Indiviglio and the team at Rivergate Vet took the best care of my dog, he needed a dental cleaning and his teeth are so much healthier now, his breath doesn't even smell anymore! My dog has a lot of anxiety, but Dr. Indiviglio and the nurses were so patient and supportive. They even noticed some things I didn't and answered all my questions thoroughly. They helped me figure out exactly what he needed and even try out new medications. The pricing is pretty reasonable, and for the service we received, it was bargain. Thank you to Dr. Indiviglio and Rivergate Vet! read more

I love all of the Dr's and technicians but the new receptionist is very aggressive, uncooperative and almost hostile towards me like an enemy, and she makes things unnecessarily hard that I almost considering changing the vet :((((( Thus 2 starts (5+ stars for doctors and techs, 0 start for the mean aggressive receptionist). read more

We'd been going to Rivergate for several years. Over the past couple years, my girl has been showing signs of Cushing's, which was finally diagnosed in April 2025. Dr. Kross referred us to a fantastic internist at Blue Pearl - so I'm grateful for that. Unfortunately, Sadie's health declined quickly and she was diagnosed with 2 brain tumors and a mass on her spleen. I was unsure about how to handle the next steps. I emailed Rivergate asking for guidance on euthanasia. I heard nothing. A few days later, I called them. No call back. Eventually, I ended up scheduling at-home euthanasia for her peaceful passing through Paws of Peace. I received a lovely condolence card from her internist at Blue Pearl. I also received one from her neurologist, who diagnosed her tumors. But from Rivergate? Absolutely nothing. They never returned my email/call. They never mentioned Sadie's passing. No card. No acknowledgement whatsoever. They literally just ghosted us during the hardest medical phase of her life!!! I was left with a very bad taste regarding Rivergate's TRUE care and concern for our pets. Zero support. Zero call backs. I was left on my own to make the hardest medical decision of her life. That's unacceptable. I'd never bring my pets there again, knowing how they handle end of life care. read more

I am so fortunate to have found Rivergate through a friend's recommendation. My vet, Dr. Eve, is a gift from heaven! She has helped my cat, Faith, in so many ways, and because of her, Faith is prospering, even at her advanced age. We love Dr. Eve! read more

I actually quite like the vets here, but the front desk rarely picks up and that alone brings my review to 1 star. There's another complaint on here about that where they responded to call to address the complaint. That's all fine except they don't pick up. This becomes increasingly frustrating if you are trying to call for a medicine refill or a follow up. read more

My dog has been seeing Dr Kross here and he is fantastic, to be clear. However the receptionists are the ABSOLUTE worst. They rarely pick up the phone and that is their job. My dog has been getting tested for cancer and I have followed up multiple times to get the results. Anyone who has a pet knows how nerve-racking waiting for these results can be. The results finally came in (though I spent a week trying to get the receptionists to even answer the phone...) but I was told that my doctor would not be in for the next few days. Since I had already waited a week (and if the test is positive my dog needs immediate treatment), I asked them to put me on a callback list for the other doctors by end of day. NO one called me back that day. I called almost four times between 4 and 6pm (pre-close) and no one picked up. This is beyond unacceptable since we are talking about the results of a cancer test. I would highly suggest working on your customer service and getting new and competent receptionists who can do the bare minimum of picking up the phone or emailing an invoice on time (not days after, after following up). read more

Rivergate has been our go to vet for about 10 years. Dr. Kross and Dr. Kaminsky, Dr. Eve and Dr. Sue make up the team and the entire staff all highly trained professionals, empathy and compassion a plenty. Feels like family when going there and I know my pet is in great hands. read more

About 8 years ago when Dr Kross was my go to vet I couldnt have been happier this was why I went back when I realized my cat was sick, even though I lived in Downtown Brooklyn. Dr Kross had always been so kind and tender and just a good vet. Well unfortunately (like many of the other reviewers here) I had an absolutely terrible experience with Rivergate now that Dr Eve and Dr Kaminski are the main practitioners. They diagnosed my cat with kidney disease and they couldnt have been less helpful. They never gave me a proper prognosis and even tried to get me to do dental work on my cat who was very ill. No one ever sat down with me and explained what options I had. Dr Eve was nice enough, but very inexperienced and when she had to go on PTO (yes, this is how she and her office described a vacation to me) she left me in the hands of Dr Kaminski who was just really unfriendly and never even followed up. Until this day, no one from their office has called or emailed to ask me how my cat was doing. Not one person. That is truly despicable. Im not going to go into all of the details of how bad my experience was, but I wouldnt go to Dr Kaminski if she was the last vet in NYC. She was unkind and the whole entire office was stressed out the days she was at the practice. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went back to Rivergate expecting the same tender and kind experiences I had with Dr Kross. It's a pity he sold his practice to people like this. He is such a good man and his practice's reputation and his kindness are the reasons why people keep coming back, only to be treated like your beloved pet doesnt matter to them. I have a new vet for my cats now and even if everything isnt always perfect, I never once have felt like my pet and I are some kind of inconvenience for them. read more

Now you want to discuss this? When I was on the phone with your company, I did discuss this and her answer was I am sorry you feel that way! I took my dog to Bond Vet and they charged $130, and they were very happy to give me an appointment! I have discussed this with dog owners in my building and they feel the same way! Good luck to running your business this way! I will not be going back, nor referring you to anyone! read more

Watch out for pushy dental surgery sales tactic from one female vet with initial MS. Used to think this vet clinic was good but when we had to change vets from male to female then things changed for the worse. Not easy to access front door with stairs and side service lift that doesn't work on some days. Rude abrasive front desk young woman who pays no respect for any clients documents and staples it was attached to. read more

Amazing staff and doctors. Very attentive and sincere in their care of your pet. Highly recommend.

Excellent care and not as expensive as many vets in the city. No frills waiting room but the people working there are nice and helpful. I'm really glad a friend referred me here and I'll be making it my regular vet going forward. read more

I sensed that my cat Luna wasn't feeling well and my first visit I met Dr. Eve Indiviglio and the lovely staff at Rivergate. Dr. Eve assessed my baby Luna and turns out she needed to have 1 to 2 teeth removed. They were able to perform the procedure within the week and took excellent care of my Luna. I just wanted to say that since she has been home, she has been feisty and happy and acts like a kitten again. She is almost 8. I just wanted to express my gratitude to Dr. Eve for being so kind and thorough and for taking the best care of my baby, it really is priceless. thank you, Rivergate! Excellent service. I highly recommend this practice. Dr.Kross did a dental cleaning procedure on my dog (her first time), and I am very happy with the results. We've been using this vet for about two years now. We used to take our dog to a different vet before this one, and we like Rivergate much more. Dr. Kaminski is honestly the best. She is so thorough and detailed and isn't looking to scam you for your money - she gives you your best options and tells you how it is. Everyone in the back is also super nice. Its a very small front waiting area, no frills or anything. All in all, I would highly recommend rivergate. read more

$50 to check blood pressure? Maybe tell clients what the bill will be before you add on absurd charges. I'm a doctor and if I charged $50 to check BP all day my patients would not return. Vet MS is not upfront with charges and I don't care for her cold personality. She also doesn't like to be asked questions and gives very strange, vague responses. Again, if I treated my patients this way I'd be out of business. Dr. Kross is much more personable. I recommend seeing him if you can. read more

First of all let me just say that Doctor Peter kross is an amazing veterinarian he saw my previous dog and now he sees my other little one Raine He takes his time to answer all of your Questions I used to live a block away from the clinic then moved to 57 street and I still take my dog Raine to see Dr. Kross even though it's quite a ways to get to but that should tell you how super fantastic they are......the staff at the clinic's front desk are super nice and welcoming what can I say oh Dr.Kross also a very nice person Neve Storm and Raine 6/4/2020 just got back from having Raine's teeth Cleaned and some other procedures Dr Kross we love you people this is the best vet in nyc for sure And his staff is so amazing and caring Raine has been seeing Dr Kross since she was a puppy and now she's nine years old He was also my previous dogs doctor I thank you all for Being there for us and the community Y'all are essential and me and Raine appreciate yall Neve and Raine 6/9/2020 Just wanted to say that Leo is amazing He's helped me arrange appointments throughout the years super friendly and very professional Thanks Leo Neve and Raine read more

I've been here four times and every single time there's been an issue. Aside from the high costs, the vets never know why I've schedule an appt (even when they specifically ask me to come back), have given me conflicting information, and are rather brisk with their explanations. My dog tested positive for heartworm and got treated, and the first vet put her on Simparica Trio even though I asked about Heartguard. The vet today asked why she wasn't on Heartguard for secondary prevention. I told her that her colleague at the clinic prescribed this medication to us, which she should have known from the beginning. It's very clear to me that the vets do not read about my dog before they see her because every time it's a surprise to them that she has a history of heartworm. They never give you the bill before you pay so would definitely ask for this before you pay. They charged me for tests that I would have never approved. Their billing is also very inconsistent. My friend and I went two days apart, both for first visits--one of us got 15% off for the first visit, the other got charged full price. read more

Dr. Kross is the best Vet in NYC and perhaps the entire USA. He is caring, respectful and considerate. He loves animals and carefully explains how you can care for your pet and even extend their lives. I have used Dr. Kross for all my pets but recently a dental surgery on my 13 year old best friend, Frisky. I was apprehensive about surgery on an older dog but he assured me she would be okay and she made it through. I cannot recommend him enough! His staff is caring and Amanda is wonderful at explaining post op procedures. If you love your dog or cat - take them to Rivergate Vets and ask to see Dr. Kross. read more

We switched to Rivergate, under Dr. Kross' practice a little over 3 years ago after horrible experience at the money grabbing 'West Village Veterinary Hospital'. Apologies to Dr. Kross & Staff for it took this long to write a review- your little patients don't give us much time off. While I can't talk about others in this practice, between Dr. Kross & Leo, we have always had positive experience. Dr. Kross is so patient with my ramblings & mommy questions every time we take our Maltese boys over. He's never in a rush to shoo us out the door, makes it a point to call & check in on his patients when they've been sick. Compared to West Village Vet Hospital, this place is somewhat reasonable (judging by elevated NYC prices). Highly recommend Dr. Kross & Leonardo Villa (does all our travel paperwork). Only reason they don't get 5 stars is due to some of the front desk staff. read more

This is a great local vet. I rarely have the same vet but they're all pretty good for standard care.

The first time we went there i had a good experience, I don't know if it's because it was my first appointment. But then the two other appointments the Dr was in a mood and she has rushing. She wasn't taking the time to listen to my concerns. She did not even listen to my dog with her stethoscope. I'm a Dr myself and that's the most basic thing to do. Also, I wanted to buy my prescriptions online like at chewy because the medications are less than buying it at the vet here. She was unhappy when I asked her for the prescription so I can order it online and she gave such an attitude about it. I'm giving the 1 star for the other staff who were nice. Taking my dog somewhere else. read more

We've been to several vets in both NYC and LA and Rivergate is BY FAR the best vet we've ever been to. They are honest, caring, and responsive. Never doing unnecessary tests, never charging more than necessary, and always happy to see our dog. Dr. Kross is incredible - smart, caring, reassuring, and pleasant. The rest of the staff have gotten us out of a bind numerous times and have made sure our dog was safe and cared for. Cannot give a higher recommendation--wish I could give 6 stars. read more

Excellent the best Dr Kross is a gem. All the Dr's and staff are awesome. I've brought all the dogs there for years.

I really appreciate this practice. The people that work here are kind across the board and my pup has seen several vets here and they are all caring individuals who keep you and your pet's best interests at heart. My pup had some tummy trouble last year and when asked what to do they gave me a very honest answer of, "Hey we can run an expensive test that probably won't tell us anything or you can try x. And we recommend trying x." I didn't feel like I was being pushed to get something that would be additive to them, but not necessarily helpful for me or my pup. I appreciate this practice and would recommend to anyone. read more

This is a terrific practice. We've been loyal customers for a number of years and each time we recommend Dr Kross and his Associates to other pet owners they tell us how pleased they were with the services they received. Today was special. In the midst of the pandemic we were afforded white glove service! We have been sheltering in place in NJ but when Rosie needed her yearly checkup we drove into NYC. We had an appointment at Rivergate and were met outside the office. A technician took Rosie from our car and brought her into the office for her exam, shots, even a nail trim. Twenty minutes later Dr. Kross himself brought her back to us. We couldn't ask for anything better. read more

My husband and I were searching for a new vet ever since our dog was sent to the ER last year for pancreatitis and we needed a third opinion about what we could do about our cat who suffers from ataxia. Not only is Dr. Kaminski , Dr. Kross, and team very professional in everything they do but are very knowledgeable and cover issues that other vets and even the ER have overlooked. There was one antibiotic prescription that the ER wanted us to give to our dog and Dr. Kaminski stopped us because that it was incorrect for his pancreatitis situation and might have made it worse. Unlike some other vets, Rivergate seems to know more about pet food and digestion more than other ones we have been to. Dr. Kaminski even jokingly dubbed their clinic as a pancreatitis hospital since they have received so many to them due to digestive-related issues. (She is really smart and has a great sense of humor by the way and reminds me of Cameron Diaz with her voice and personality, lol!) Of course, they all love animals and treat your pets well under their care. This contrasts with anything we experienced with former hospitals where in one place, the assistants accidentally cut up dog's underside when shaving off fur so places were bleeding nor another place where his nose was scraped raw from him pressing his nose against his crate's door from trying to escape. (Yes, where you take your pet makes a difference. There's power to the purse, everyone, use it so we can keep all service providers accountable and sensitive to what they do. Vet or human medical work can be very hard but there are ways to help scared pets calm down if they really care & are smart about it!) Their secretaries are terrific too. One recently sent me a copy of an invoice for one visit last year and put the month that it was from in the subjectline to help me easily distinguish it from another one they sent me for a recent visit we made. They are always friendly and eager to help you. Bravo, Rivergate! read more

This is the Clinic where you want to take your dog (or cat). Dr. Peter Kross is simply the best Veterinarian in the City. He loves animals, which, while that may seem a given, many animal doctors do not. He has a first rate staff and we always feel secure that he will take the best care of our precious cargo, in our case, a male dachshund. This practice is the gold standard of veterinary offices. read more

Dr. Kaminski is an excellent veterinarian for cats. Her helpers during our recent visits were both also very good. Caution re: younger or temporary employees at the front desk. If you call them out on rudeness or inefficiency - the iceberg is palpable, and you wonder what they might have done to the prescriptions. There is one more experienced older woman who must be otherwise holding down the fort, who may have recently been on vacation. Without her there - catch as catch can. There is another male manager - apparently not respected enough to have his potential admonishment or redirection followed when I mentioned poor attitudes. read more
