Let me say I will never take my son to another Vet Dentist. Dr Desai and her team were amazing. They were so understanding when I needed to rebook twice. The doctor explained everything to me, gave me amazing information regarding the health of my cat's teeth. The pricing was detailed up front and I had no issues with the $500 deposit. My only surprise was after the procedure my cat was unable to meow. But the doctor told me that would only last a few days and it did. But initially I was really sad for him cause he is a talker . But the constant updates when he was getting his procedure was amazing. Definitely a great place to take your 4 legged family member to get treated. While I loved the space upstairs - very NY chic loft and comfy - having the office at ground level will help the business thrive with greater visibility. It's comfortable and the same rules apply - it's an office for our pets first. Love this part the place. The people genuinely care about the animals first and foremost - ensuring they are comfortable, which in turn makes the humans more comfortable. The set pricing is very much appreciated and creates an equitable transparency that has a calming effect on the whole dog/ cat having to go through this for their health. They provide worst case estimate upfront and hand you a listing of all the costs - clearly letting you know there will be no surprises. My vet told me a range and gave a +/- that was about the same cost as the entire procedure at Pearly Bites. It's NYC so I get that veterinarian care is expensive. But this is why having a dedicated dentist who has set transparent pricing is so good. The follow-up care is also equally incredible! The clinic staff reach out after the procedure to see if there are any problems or questions and they give advice that's actionable, meeting the animal and its owner where they are in their lives. The best vet experience ever at Pearly Bites. I felt my cat Aslan was in expert hands the entire time, and all the staff were compassionate and helpful. I had my price reduced(!!!) from what I was quoted because they felt there was less work needed than they expected--and this was still with 3 extractions and a tooth cleaning. They also were careful to schedule an included follow-up two weeks later. The price was ultimately 1/2-2/3 of what my regular vet had quoted, and that was without extractions. Dr. Livermore is clearly an expert at what she does and incredibly compassionate and helpful in explaining exactly why she was doing what she was doing. The surgery went incredibly smoothly, as did the recovery phase. Aslan was back to his normal self in a day or two. Everyone on the staff was incredibly helpful. When I injured myself and had someone else pick up my cat a nurse stayed behind past closing time until they arrived watching him. I could rave about Pearly Bites forever and ever. The initiative they're doing is AMAZING and so thoughtful. Flat fee dental services? Unheard of. I paid $1450 for my dog (large breed) to get 4 (!!) extractions AND a teeth cleaning. My vet at the time quoted me $4000 for the exact same. They have different plans for different severity levels for your dog's teeth condition. When my baby was in surgery, they updated me during and after. The vet was gentle and concise. I wish I lived closer to them I would make them my primary vet in a heartbeat because I have never felt so heard as a dog mom. It's sometimes hard in times of uncertainty and distress with our babies and we have a lot of questions. The vet techs, nurses and vets made sure they answered everything thoroughly and concisely. I never felt like they were rolling their eyes at my concerns or made me feel like the "crazy dog mom." They even go above and beyond to give you the answers most vets don't give you on the first round. In the sense they don't wait for your question to tell you, if that makes sense. This place is amazing. My dog Alfie has had two dentals in the past, and neither were as good of an experience as Pearly Bites. The office is clean and professional, I was seen promptly each time I came in, the receptionist is friendly and welcoming, and the vet who saw Alfie was fantastic-- incredibly competent, and warm (to both Alfie and I). They brought me in for a consult before the procedure and gave me an honest and accurate assessment of Alfie's teeth and were up-front about potential complications. The vet sat me down with a dog teeth model to show me which of Alfie's teeth were areas of concern. As for the actual procedure, while some teeth needed extracted, the vet was able to save each of the essential teeth (canines and molars) that she was initially concerned about. This is not a vet that is going to extract teeth unless it's absolutely necessary. Additionally, after previous dentals, Ive gotten the impression that Alfie had been given a bit too much anesthesia (I.e., he'd been unable to use the bathroom or eat for about 24 hours after waking up), but that was not my experience here. He was eating soft food and using the bathroom within an hour of waking up, and recovery was quite smooth. And his teeth look amazing. This office is also committed to ensuring that pets are recovering well; they bring you back for a check-up after two weeks (not my experience with prior dentals). Finally, everyone at Pearly Bites treated Alfie with care & compassion at all times. He's a special case--he is deaf and blind and unusually anxious in new spaces. I am basically coming out of Yelp retirement to share my awesome Pearly Bites experience. One of my cats, Othello, was in serious need of a teeth cleaning and extractions where he was having an issue. The clinic my babies usually go to was going to do it, but the price range they quoted me was kinda scary--anywhere from $1000 to $2500. Srsly!? I was totally going to do it, because my lovey Othello in pain and discomfort is simply never an acceptable option. But I was feeling vulnerable about what the cost could mean for me this year especially, and an amazing woman who works at my vet and has known my cats for years saw my distress and told me about her friends at Pearly Bites. I'm omitting names here, so I don't get her in trouble, but I am so grateful for the recomendation. I was literally on the phone with the practice manager at Pearly Bites that same day and got all my questions answered in advance of our visit--plus he got all of Othello's medical records from my vet without me having to do anything on my end and he helped me schedule our initial exam on the same day as the treatment, so I didn't have to traumatize Othello with the whole carrier dance/trap and get him to their offices too many times (always a trauma for me TBH). I don't know if that's always possible, but I appreciated them going out of their way to give us the extra scheduling TLC. It put me at ease from the start. Everyone we met on the day of the exam and treatment, from our really wonderful vet to the reception crew, was patient, thoughtful, and clearly so knowledgable. Everyone is masked and practicing social distancing appropriately. And the price they quoted me for moderate dental decay ($850) was the final price all in, including precautionary measures they took (bloodwork, etc) to make sure Othello would be ok under anesthesia, which he was! They even messaged me during Othello's treatment to tell me how he was doing, because you know I was in my feelings about it. They followed up the next day with a phone call, answered all my questions AGAIN, and our in person check up visit to make sure his little mouth was healing well went smoothly. Just had my dog's teeth cleaned at Pearly. It was literally half the price of my vet here in NYC. I am very grateful to have found out about Pearly Bites. My last cleaning cost me a whooping $1800, even though the estimate was for $1100, adding a tooth extraction. This vet also removed two teeth that were troublesome and didn't charge me a penny more. $1100. The only place more reasonable is the Human Society, which is terribly inconvenient. read more

I never leave reviews but Dr. Livermore, Jen, and the entire Pearly Bites team deserve all the praise in the world. My dog Hillary gets dental cleanings every year (tiny dog with a tiny mouth = terrible teeth) and we've always done it through our primary vet. Doing it through Pearly Bites was so much easier. The price transparency is a total game changer. The entire procedure cost about $800 less than the low estimate I received from my primary vet this year. Most vet experiences end in a long rant from my partner on the car ride home about how crazy expensive vet care is in NYC, and even he was impressed by how reasonable, fair, and honest the pricing was. Dr. Livermore took her time to chat with us at our consultation and was so sweet to Hillary. On the day of the procedure, they texted us updates throughout the day. My favorite thing though has to be the before and after pictures they send home! Pretty sure I've sent them to half the contacts in my phone book, I was so impressed! My 13-year-old dog, Didion, had severe infection and needed 32 extractions. It was a 3-hour surgery. The vet, Dr Stephanie Livermore is a cut above. We are so grateful that we found them! Our dog needed dental surgery and we were concerned because she is an older dog with a heart condition. Dr Livermore made us feel assured that the procedure will be done in a safe way for her, and I really appreciate that Dr Livermore did both the consultation and actual surgery. We found Pearly Bites to be reasonable in price -- they gave us an initial quote based on the exam but realized during the surgery that our dog needed less extractions than expected and so they lowered the total cost. We were so impressed by that because it reflected how ethical, fair and reasonable they were as a business. What's more, the Pearly Bites team were exceptional -- every person we met from Dr Livermore to the assistants to reception were so knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely kind to the animals. During the surgery, the team kept us in the loop with updates via text message, and post surgery the doctor called us to give us a full update. Our dog is doing so well post-surgery, and her bad breath is even gone! I cannot recommend them enough if you're looking to do dental surgery for your pet. read more

TL;DR: Pearly Bites is the best. They did an exceptional job on my cat's full mouth extraction and they did it for $1,100 less than my primary vet's estimate. (I never bother reviewing anything, but they're worth the effort.) My cat Loki needed 29 of his 30 teeth removed due to chronic gum disease -- the only reason the 30th didn't need to go is because it had already been extracted years ago. Two weeks later, Loki is feeling better than ever and the infection has largely subsided. The doctors and staff at Pearly Bites were super friendly, professional and informative. During our initial visit, the doctor spent plenty of time with me after Loki's examination answering my questions and telling me what to expect in typical cases. It's clear they all care about animals a great deal and I immediately knew he'd be in good hands. When the day of the dental came, drop off was quick and easy. They texted me updates throughout the day and I got a call in the early afternoon from the doctor informing me that the surgery was successful and he was starting to wake up. I always felt in the loop and confident that he was okay, which was great because I had to focus on work. I never doubted that my buddy was taken care of. The follow-up visit, which was included in the cost of the surgery, took about 20 minutes total from the time I walked through the door. The doctor saw Loki right away and came out to explain that he was healing exceptionally well and that his stitches were dissolving. His surgery was seriously major; he had ALL of his teeth removed, but in just two weeks he's already doing great and it shows. Only a few more weeks to go and all this will just be a memory for little Loki, but I'll always remember how caring and skilled Pearly Bites was for my dude in his time of need! read more

This place is pricey but its worth it. My 8 year old Pom never had her teeth cleaned, so naturally she had a severe case. At first, at the initial consult they kept on trying to charge something i wasn't aware of, but i ended up paying 1,7k for the whole thing and i believe it was worth it. All post pre-op and post-op care was included which streamlined the whole process. They are very professional and know what they are doing, the doc kept me in the loop on everything she was going to do. Got 15 teeth pulled and smiling better than ever. The staff and Dr. Livermore are very attentive, knowledgable and provided the best care for my 15-years old kitty with kidney disease. They kept me informed by texts when her surgery starte and when it finished, gave her fluids before and after the surgery and I picked her up very happy and curious, looked like she's not stressed at all with the experience and wanted to run exploring the office as if it's her home too :) Moreover it turned out to be no so severe as it looked so they're even downgraded me to a cheaper package. Oh well, it seems I'm the only one who had a bad experience here. We came in with our 13-year-old Yorkie, who happens to have heart problems as well. Dr. Glass came into the room and gave us a 10-minute lecture about how dangerous a dental surgery could be for a dog with severe (she said they were severe) heart issues and that their office doesn't have ventilators etc. if something goes wrong. She went on and on. Interesting, considering that they specialize in dental surgeries. She said we should go to a vet's hospital with him. The doctor also failed to ever really look at our dog. She gave him a 20-second check-up. I was so close to walking out. Fast forward, he had dental surgery at the Williamsburg Veterinarian Clinic, and Dr. Rendon (confident and caring) did a fantastic job. As it turned out, our Yorkie's heart is not as bad as Dr. Glass stated. The surgery was major, but he recovered nicely in less than a week. A doctor needs to care, and this one didn't! read more
