I am writing because I would like corporate to take notice of a very disappointing experience at this HomeGoods location. I tried to return or exchange a defective ice tray that cost $4.99. I had the receipt, and I simply wanted to exchange it. However, the manager, Steven/Stephen, told me he could not process the return because the item was purchased at the Palm Desert store. I find it unreasonable that HomeGoods would refuse an exchange for a defective item purchased at another HomeGoods location, especially when the customer has a receipt. I have been a long-term TJX/HomeGoods customer, and I have never had an experience like this before. I do not know whether this is a company policy or a store-level decision, but either way, it reflects poorly on the brand. A customer should not be turned away over a defective $4.99 item with proof of purchase. I strongly suggest that TJX review this policy and ensure store managers are trained to handle basic customer service issues in a reasonable and customer-focused way. (Time: 3:40pm 6/9/26) read more

First of all, I am an interior designer for over 32 years. For my more budget projects, I've been shopping HomeGoods in various location in Los Angeles. I have always found the staff, friendly and helpful. A year ago, I decided to move to Palm Desert and and continued my Residential Interior Design here. I've been to the store a few times. I am not sure what is happening at this location, "Palm Desert CA " , but the staff looks extremely unhappy. specifically one gentleman who calls himself the store manager but he is not. I have seen him picking fights with different clients almost every time I go there. I have tried to strike a friendly note with him, trying to calm him down. At one occasion, out loud, he was telling a client that his job is what people say to "choose wisely" at the beginning of ones career. Once he was staring down at a client to a point where the lady said " Are you staring me down? may I talk to your manager?" and with a great attitude, he responded, "you are talking to him." Long story short, last time I was there I was doing heavy shopping for a 85 year-old woman. Nothing big knickknacks and kitchen items and Home Staples. I was doing a small project for her here at the desert. she has various ailments and I had to be careful choosing the right products for her, which is light enough and easy to operate. Thus it took me over two hours in the store to do selection of various items.. I think that had raised a red flag with the staff. I was treated so poorly there. I had over five workers approaching me and asking " can we help you with something? it seems you've been here for a long time . Every time I would respond, yes I am buying for a client. I need to make the right the selections. it takes time . I do understand store security is important and shrinkage is a problem, but not everybody is a thief . I do believe of myself dressing up nicely and present presenting not like a bum . At the end, yes, the same gentleman approached me aggressively with the same question. I broke out in anger, saying "is there a problem sir? " I'm spending over $800 worth of products here. Nevertheless, I was followed by him until I went to the checkpoint and paid for the products and left the building. Funny enough, he knows me from previous purchases from him, which always has been over five to $600. I tried to make a complaint to their head offices. I got a email saying that my concern has been sent to the store manager Sylvia "something" and she will get back with me ASAP. This was a month ago and no one did. again it's a pity. I love the store and most probably I will be shopping at their other locations, but this one definitely has some major staff issues . I will not be returning there. This is a good home goods! I've been coming to this location for years and it honestly never disappoints. It's super big and much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. I'm happy that I can always find pretty good items at this location compared to some of my more local Home Goods. This shopping center is busy and the parking not as large as it could be but I normally try to come here early and at opening which usually gets me a parking spot pretty close to the front. I came two days after Christmas and was honestly impressed with their inventory. After Christmas most stores are hurting and down to their bare bones items but not this home goods! Yes the Christmas decor was lacking but that was A okay with me. I was so thrilled to see otherwise the entire store was stocked and had so much to look at and choose from. I ended up finding Valentine's Day cheery decor that I've literally been hunting since last year! I was so so happy to have stumbled across such a great find and a bunch of other great little kitchen wear items. Staff were friendly and while the lines were long at the register they were smart and called for backup and had almost every register open. I always appreciate that and that they try to keep the line moving. Today was a come up! Happy to have this home goods in the desert and will continue to come back here. read more

I personally love this store. I can always find what I need at a terrific price. We just bought the same Ralph Lauren sheet set that we paid $400 for on the Ralph Lauren website for $40 on clearance. The absolute worst Home goods experience I've ever had! Not only did they give me such an issue on returning comforters that was just purchased earlier this week, but they didn't give me the full amount owed back in which was about $30. For some reason they didn't have the items in their system and even though I've been a loyal costumer for many years and I've barely returned a single item, it's kinda annoying but I was still cool about it. Their excuse was somewhat logical- I didn't have the original plastic bag with price sticker on it. Even though that should be on my receipt anyway and if it's not than who's fault is that? That's right, it's the company's fault but guess who gets to pay for their fault- the customer. The intention was to keep the comforters and like most people if you think you are going to keep an item you throw out the plastic or box packaging (recyclables) I have bought so many furnishings from them to help decorate several home/office projects over the years and we all liked the look of these comforters, they looked so pretty and well textured however the quality is poor and whatever is inside of them feels cheap. . Again, I was willing to walk away from the $30 and cut my losses and go about my day, however what gets me is the extremely poor customer service at this location and what this review is really about is that! After getting home and discussing the situation ,I decided to call and tried to rectify but whoever I spoke with - if that wasn't the most sarcastic ,cynical disregarding tone talking back with me on the phone, then I don't know what is. I will no longer use this company that hires people that will treat a consumer so unprofessionally and with low budget manner. I love Home Goods. Great for staging and quick items for photoshoots. Carolyn was so patient when I pulled up to check out with two carts and 3 pieces of art. Since I'm traveling for projects, I asked that all the breakables be wrapped and she did such a great job of making sure things were packed well. I think I've been to every H.G. from here to San Diego to Santa Rosa and Carolyn is my fave H.G. employee hands down. First of all, let me start by saying I've been shopping at this HomeGoods since it opened but the last two experiences there have put me completely over the edge and I'll never go there again. Their customer service has become awful to the point of disgust. I tried to return a pillow that was still in the packaging that I had bought two days prior and the pink haired girl working the cash register told me that it looked like it was used so she couldn't take it back. The Pella was not used. I bought it for my husband. He took it out of the plastic, felt it and told me he thought it was too firm. It absolutely was not used on top of that. I had bought it two days prior to returning. She took my pillow over to the older lady that has been working there for a few years and I heard everything she said to her she told her this pillow is used there's lint on it. I don't think we should take it back and the older lady said OK don't take it back then. So I walked out of there and immediately went to a different store and they took it back no questions asked. I had another experience at this store last month right before C Christmas and the same old lady was short gray hair refused to take back a wooden stool that was $16.99 because she said it was scratched on one of the legs. Just absolute ridiculousness. Terrible customer service! Also I noticed they have VERY low inventory for the last few months. read more

I bought some towels from this location and after a week two of them I used started changing colors, due to my busy schedule I hadn't had a chance to exchange them out till a month later, the manager Ericka was so understanding and was willing to do the return, she's so kind and I appreciated that she understood things happen and made the exception. Normally love this store and feel like it has a superior assortment of items in comparison to other home goods. In fact, when my mother comes out here to visit, she always make a point to visit this home goods because she claims it has better merchandise than her local store in Orange County. I have to say though, I went in today and was disappointed by the selection. Walked out with nothing which is very rare. Two of the center aisles in the store were old clearance items and THREE aisles in the center of the store were for dog items. This is not a Petco. I love that the store offers pet items but since when are THREE aisles of dog merchandise needed in a relatively small store? Seems excessive. Home Goods on Washington St. is absolutely great. My mother and I went to shop there to buy some new things to decorate her living room. When we left the store, one of the decorations fell and broke. We went back into the store and asked if we could get a refund for the item. Even though, once the item is out the door and it's not their responsibility, Steven, the store manager was kind to give us a gift card as a refund. I went back to the store because again inventory is good and the prices are great but I officially won't be returning. I witnessed Erika and another cashier, pretty much torture a customer over a return, the reason they wouldn't take her return is because she is from out of the country and had a passport as a form of ID with the credit card. I 100% understand that stores have policies and it was not the policy that upset me. It was their attitude and genuine unfriendliness. I wish I was making this up y'all, I quote " this is not a real ID, real IDs are from America". Simply horrifying. We left our full cart, checked on the young girl they were arguing with, and walked out with her as she carried her return back out to her car in shock. I used to shop here a lot before Covid and I decided to stop by around 12 noon and do some shopping. I was shocked at how crowded it was for a weekday and when I saw the line, around 18 people I decided to get in line because I had to work in an hour and still had to drive home to Indio. Moving forward this store was a MESS! The aisles were all messed up even stuff on the floor and barely organized. It was such a mess I actually was having issues shopping! So after standing in line for quite awhile I hear "Cashier # 1 please" and I proceed to the front. An older East Indian woman is the cashier. (I am describing her only because I did not see a name tag). I tell her I need a bag & she starts by scanning an item. In-between scanning each item she turns with her back to me and is holding a personal conversation with two other employees, one of which looked at me and ignored the fact I was waiting! She then scans second item & literally walks away and is laughing & holding these conversations. I watch as the 4 customers that were BEHIND me in line are walking by and already checked out! She scans item 3 and turns to begin to talk again I interrupted her and told her what you are doing is RUDE! Check me out please! She gave me this look that was so nasty and rude. I had to ask for a bag a second time. With over a dozen people in line you would think these employees would know better.Last time I go here period. Who is the manager here!! They need to clean up their store and train their cashiers. read more

Very clean and organized! The store was fully stocked and there were many employees stocking more items while I was there. I had my two year old son with me who was getting a bit impatient and was making quite a bit of noise, but the employees were very nice and even interacted with my son to keep him entertained as I was at the checkout. I don't get over to Home Goods very often, and frankly my husband is happy about that. Why, you may ask. Because if I had an extra $100 I'd spend it here for certain. Home Goods has a little bit of everything for your home, personal care items, "different" foods, sheets, towels, rugs, nic-nac's and more. My favorite aisle is in and out of the specialty foods. In the past I found vanilla from around the world, and last week I picked up a box of Turkish Lemon and Rose candies. They were like jelly belly's on steroids. If you find something you like, you better buy it as the selection is constantly evolving. read more

Most of the employees are not very helpful or friendly at all and that's a real bummer especially when sometimes it feels like they are standing right behind you every time you turn around. This store is always crowded and always fully stocked with items. It's so full that I often feel like I'm going to knock over items on the shelves. A lot of the items aren't great and nothing I'd buy, but you can find a bargain and something nice if you look hard enough. It's kind of like a fun treasure hunt and that's what I like. I do always wonder why the store is so crowded though. I've never been inside when there haven't been like 75 to 100 people shopping and 10 to 15 people waiting in the checkout line. They have good deals and decent clearance. I love that they group housewares according to color!! I find some really unique items, but I've learned, if I find something I like, buy a few! Cuz once They're gone, they're gone! Art stuff is okay, but can be a bit over priced for the quality. For me this place is okay. I'm more likely to head to ONE of their competitors because they're customer service is better. I still would say, give it a shot. I know many that are fans of home goods. This site is doing an amazing job during the pandemic. There is someone to great you with an offer of a sanitized cart, warm and friendly welcome. There is a table with hand sanitizer for your use. Signage on the floors and clear passage to the register. There's always something there that will add life in your home. I hit them up at least once a week. read more

I love Homegoods but yesterday when I attempted a return with a receipt they wanted to give me a gift card. It was purchased with my husband and of course my card has different numbers but if a return is accompanied with a receipt (proof that I purchased) do not hold my money hostage. They have tons of merchandise of all kinds from cookware to furniture to bedding to artwork to lamps etc. I love shopping here during the holidays because thy in incredible items including glass blown ornaments import from Europe. I'm a frequent shopper at this store, especially at this location. The store is normally clean and organized. Unfortunately I'm giving it two stars because of their employees. When I was checking out, the cashier Joyce was very pushy on having me sign up for a rewards card and when I declined, she seemed genuinely offended. Same with asking me to donate. I'd give this store no stars if I had the choice. The store itself is loaded with awesome items! They have great stuff, it's not the store, but the service that is terrible in a every way. The manager, Terry, there has no customer service experience by the looks of it. I came in to purchase something, asked him a question about the item and he was complete rude and demeaning. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thought he was having a bad day. I went back another time and he happened to be nearby and I asked him a question concerning an item I had seen at a different price at another Homegoods. Then man completely lost it with me. Extremely rude beyond how any person should be treated. Once again very demeaning and disrespectful. His tone was aggressive. As he was raising his voice at me I calmly told him if he could price it like the other Homegoods since they had the same item at a cheaper price. He harshly said I leave if I don't like the price there because "if it's not this price here I won't give it to you so if you liked the then price you can go to that one!" Very demeaning tones. As if he thought himself a hotshot for being manager or something. Whatever the case, it saddens me to know such a person achieved a leadership level with no service skills. You know how you felt when Marshall's and Mervyns and the like all appeared at once on your radar? Well, HomeGoods is JUST like that only a bazillion times better! It's like the discount warehouse for home goodies (hence the name...duh!)...they have towels, bedding, duvets, pillows, mirrors, artwork, knick knacks, furniture, kitchen wares, lamps...you name it, they got it!! And it's all at a discount!! You might find a sheet set for $20 that would normally set you back close to a hundie!! I just bought a dupioni silk bed pillow for $20!! Good good stuff. Home Goods is the place to go when you're outfitting your condo or house. They have everything under the sun at great prices. And this stuff isn't necessarily crap, but brands you have actually heard of. An easy chair that you would drop $500 on, comes out at $199, stuff like that. I really do like their artwork section which is priced right and gives some ambiance to your digs. Also, you can find some great deals on area rugs. Rugs can be very expensive but if you keep your eye out you'll find them for less at Home Goods. read more

Cashier was very rude , as we walked up to the register, she right away racial profiled my husband and i , after taking out the stuff to put on the register she had me move the cart so that she can see if it was complete emptied out. Just because im hispanic doesn't give her the rights to do that, i even asked her oh wow why are you doing that and she responded with "because in case you didnt put everything on the register" , really? Ive gone to this store probably once a week and always end up spending over $100. Never again will i return to this store. read more
