I came here by myself and was seated at the counter. I told Kat it was my first time, and she was so helpful with her recommendations. She suggested the White Pie with Spinach. This was so good, I'm not really a pizza person and honestly only came because of the great reviews. Well, I was wrong, this is the best pizza I've ever had I'm usually keto, so I normally don't eat the crust edge. But this time, I actually ate the crust first before getting to the toppings. It's thin, crunchy, and has such a great texture and flavor. I finished the slice right away and forgot to take a picture. I also ordered the Garlic Knots. They come four to an order, but I wasn't sure I wanted that many. Kat told me I could order just one, which was really nice. Unfortunately, this one wasn't my favorite, a little too doughy for me. And then there was the Tiramisu. Wow! It's so good, not overly sweet like other tiramisu and the texture is light, fluffy, and smooth. They were busy during my visit, but the service was still great. Kat was friendly and made my first visit a really enjoyable one. Definitely coming back if I visit Austin again

Home Slice on South Congress is a South Austin institution that helped put this neighborhood's food scene on the map back in 2005. It spans two spaces right next door to each other, the main full-service sit-down restaurant and "More Home Slice," their grab-and-go slice window, and we checked out both. The vibe is buzzing and energetic. They have great outdoor seating that is packed with people. As for the pizza itself, it was pretty good! It has a distinct New York style flare with a crisp, foldable crust. If you are looking for top-tier NY-style pizza, outdoor patio energy, and a South Congress experience, Home Slice is definitely worth stopping by.

A group of us came in late at night close to closing within the next 30min. My friends ordered the #8, which was made fresh and came straight out of the oven. None of them got sick. I ordered two different pizza slices from the display. Based on my experience, I suspect the slices had been sitting out longer than they should have since we arrived so late. While I can't say with absolute certainty, this is the only meal that stood out, and it made me very sick. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I won't be coming back. My advice: if you order pizza here, only get it if you see it being made fresh and coming straight out of the oven. I would avoid the pizza by the slice that's been sitting in the display case.

If you're looking for a quick snack or a cheap meal, Home Slice is a good option. They have both a sit down restaurant and a more casual order/pickup option--this review is for the casual option. For this option, you order the pizza by the slice. When I came, there were 3 options: cheese, pepperoni, and margherita. I tried the cheese pizza and to be honest, I didn't think it was anything noteworthy. If you're craving pizza, this will definitely satisfy that craving and if you're in the area and are having the late night drunchies, I'm sure that this would really hit, but I've had better pizza elsewhere. Everything here is pretty self serve and you can seat yourself at any of the picnic tables in front of the stand. Service was friendly!

Yum!! This place is delicious. We were in the mood for a smaller dinner and decided on a slice each from Home Slice. The parking is pretty limited here but fortunately we snagged a spot. There's a line outside where you can place your order and a few tables outside to sit. On our visit it was pretty hot outside so we didn't spend too long outside eating. I did see a small indoor area but it looked pretty crowded so I'm not sure what the seating structure was like. We decided on a pepperoni and pepperoni + mushroom pizza slice. I had the pepperoni and mushroom slice and devoured it in a minute or less. It was just so good! I adored the thin slice and it was amazingly savory. The crust was also fantastic. They have crushed red pepper at the tables and you can grab a fresh Parmesan shaker from the area you place your order. I would love to come back here and maybe try a whole pizza just so we could have a few more slices! They had several more options if you order a whole pizza that looked absolutely delicious. The outdoor space is probably more fun on a cooler day but nice that they have it. Till next time!

If the plain cheese pizza is good, in my opinion, it's a keeper...Homeslice not only has THE BEST cheese pizza, it has an amazing Italian sandwich, they're usually pretty packed but you'll be seated quickly, we order to-go a lot always hot and fresh when we get it back home to eat, but the vibe of the place is pretty cool so you may not want to miss out! This is always a must when we visit Austin, lunch, dinner, late night...or leftovers for breakfast, it's really that good!

Great Italian sandwich. Nice vibe. They have indoor and covered outdoor seating. I want to go again to try the pizza and calzones. My waiter had a weird vibe, but everything else was great

Always a great time and food when you come to home slice pizza on congress. Great service the only issue is the place is small so it does get loud a bit when trying to have conversations

This place gets super busy being along South Congress but service is relatively quick. Note there is a line outside but also you can order from inside at the cash register. I tried their cheese pizza and honestly this felt like New York quality being a thin slice. I felt lucky that the batch I received had just come out hot.

Being from NY, I was skeptical about pizza in Texas But, after much persuasion from my fiancée, I decide to take a chance. To say I was blown away is an understatement. The pizza was AWESOME!! It was sooo good. ( Just as good if not better than NY pizza) I told my friends in NY they need to come down and try it. I'm a now a devoted customer.

##1 Margherita - Large

A classic pizza place founded in Austin! I can't believe I've never written a review for it since I've been multiple times. While they do have seating inside, it's a small space. Parking is usually difficult to find and not free (except on Sundays). It's best to order to-go and enjoy eating from the comfort of your home. There's usually a wait. However, this is the best NY-style pizza I've had in Austin. I love the classic Margherita. It tastes fresh and delicious! We ordered two large pizzas to share among four people and still had a few extra slices (for a second meal!) For pizza places, this is my go-to!

Shana W.

Came here after hearing great things and it absolutely didn't disappoint! We came here with 6 people and the wait wasn't too terrible. The staff was very friendly and kind. The food was delicious as can be! We got the eggplant pie and it wasn't what I was expecting (I was expecting more of an eggplant parm situation), but it was so good! I'll be thinking about it for a long time! The area is really cool with cute decorations. Chill spot and really enjoyed our time here. I recommend patio sitting if the weather allows.

Half #5 Pepperoni & Mushroom - Medium, half #6 Sausage, Ricotta Cheese, and Roasted Red Peppers - Large
Raegan D.

Wow this pizza blew me away. The crust was so crispy and flavorful, and the turkey sandwich was EXACTLY what I was craving. The ambiance of this place is so cool. We waited for a good 40 minutes but it was definitely worth it. This is the first place I've ever seen offering cookies and milk for dessert! This is a gem!

Our pizzas won’t be heart shaped but they will all be made with love.

Hi Morgan, Though we don't offer a dairy substitute, any pizza can be made without cheese. We recommend adding flavorful toppings like garlic, Kalamata olives and house roasted red peppers, for example, to make a delicious pie that will have you not…

Can they make half white/half red pies?

Hi, we are unable to do half red and half white pies, but we have slices of both. You can always get some Margherita slices with a medium red pie. We also have a white pie slice special every day except Friday (fried eggplant day). We wish we could…

Do all the pizzas have 3 cheeses on them? What about by the slice? (I prefer pizza with just mozarella is why I'm asking)

Hi Thomas, all our pizzas by the slice have at least 3 cheeses, Parmesan, Provolone, and Mozzarella. We are happy to make a whole pizza for you with Mozzarella only. Sorry to not have the slice option you are looking for.…

Do you have options with no added gluten? Thanks.

Hi Trish, Though we would love to offer a gluten free pizza one day, sadly, we haven't been able…

Can we bring our own wine?

Hi Kimberly, we do have a full menu of beers and wines, though you are welcome to bring in a bottle of wine of your own. There is a $10 corking fee per bottle. This is for South Congress only, outside beverages are not permitted at North Loop.…

Is their pizza sold by the slice? If so, what's the latest you can buy it that way? Or is it 24/7 until closing.

We always have at least.5 options by the slice. Every night until closing. Tonight til 11pm at either location. Thanks

How many slices comes in your medium and large pies?

In large, around 8.

Do they have vegan cheese? Apparently I'm lactose intolerant.

It is a very Hip Pizza joint. I would bet anything they have all diets covered.

Do they offer GF pizza?

When I was there a month ago they did not have a gluten free offering. However, Southside Flying Pizza in Austin has a pretty amazing gluten free crust made in house.

I have a party of 17 people in a few weeks (Friday night) looking for a pizza dinner. Will this be possible at this location?

We would love to host your party of 17. We could accommodate your party inside our dining room or outside on our covered back patio. Although we don't take reservations, if you can send a representative of your party about an hour before to check in…

Do they have high chairs for kids?

Yes!

Definitely adding this for places to try in Austin, and tell Aaron and the goldens about? They really dig the New York style pie

Fantabulous slices and Sicilian style on Mondays and Thursdays only!

Definitely adding this for places to try in Boston and tell Aaron and the goldens about?

Not in Boston, and I don't think it is a chain.

I've spent my life chasing the perfect crust, comparing everything from the legendary pie shops in Manhattan to the pristine corner slices in Pittsburgh. I didn't think Austin could pull off truly authentic pizza. I was dead wrong. Baldinucci is absolute sorcery. The moment I took a bite of their Roman-style pizza, I was instantly thrown back to the tiny, narrow pizzerias I stumbled into in Italy. It has that exact, hyper-specific airy crunch that is so incredibly hard to replicate outside of Europe. The dough is clearly fermented with patience. It's light, shatteringly crisp on the bottom, and has those beautiful, irregular air pockets that give it a pillowy structure without ever feeling heavy. Let's talk about the sauce, because that's where most places fail. It isn't that sugary, paste-heavy stuff you find at standard joints. It is vibrant, bright, and tastes intensely of sun-ripened tomatoes and clean olive oil. It is remarkably fresco; striking that perfect balance where the acidity cuts through the richness of the cheese without overwhelming the palate. The vibe inside the West Lake spot is casual and unpretentious, but they take their craft seriously. Food service is streamlined and efficient; you order at the counter, and they pop the slices back into the oven so they land at your table screaming hot. The staff is genuinely proud of what they're slinging, and they should be. If you are an East Coast transplant drowning in a sea of mediocre pies, do yourself a favor and get over to West Lake. It's the real deal. PS: The gelato flavors are also sorcery. However, a review of their gelato is for another time. I must continue to savor the pie for now.
