Then another employee checks your receipt before leaving (Costco style). I like the concept and if you're not getting too many things, it's helpful. The lines with cashiers were very long so I'm glad I chose this option. I found some dresses and I needed a new bathroom rug, so I would say it was a good visit. I would come back again. Not necessarily go out of my way but my nail shop is around the corner.

I mean, the Burlington portion, what exactly was here before them, you can tell it wasn't built for them, it was some kind of department store for sure. Yes, I am aware that a Toys R Us was here before. Nothing more chilling than seeing the ghost signage and dark store when you walk towards the front door. I am also aware that there were some kind of truck dealership. But I am baffled by what this business was. Much like the nearby mall, this should probably be vacated. This Burlington is the last man standing in this property. If you want to call it that. They are wobbling. My god why did I even come here? Oh, that's right, I needed an item and I though this might be a great place to try to find that item. I was wrong. Why did I get so irritated by just walking into this store? Why is it that every Burlington you go to they intentionally shrink the store footprint and have so much empty space to go through. But not only is the footprint shrunk, the stock is shrunk as well. That shrunken stock is basically thrown about. I think there was more stock on the floor than on the racks. The customers in here really didn't care that they were just not putting it back and then stepping on it. I just couldn't focus on shopping in here. I was overstimulated by the stock all over the place and then the sensors on the shoes kept going off. With the noise and my OCD kicking into high gear, I had to leave. Good thing I did too, because their stock was very limited. Not to mention that I was too afraid to even venture up to the second floor. If this main floor was like this, I didn't even want to see the mess upstairs. This store is disgusting in every matter of the word. It's dirty. It's not organized in the least. It's sketchy. When I moved out of state in 2021 I asked for their help again with the entire first floor and one of the bedrooms in my new home. They helped me figure out how best to reuse what we selected for my old living room, as well as furnish a dining room and sitting room, make efficient use of a garage that had been converted to a bonus room, and select flooring and wall colors throughout. There are great blue shopping bags in a variety of sizes. The emphasis is mostly dorm rooms and getting a student organized. They still have the wonderful Elfa closet items and kitchen items. I love the office supplies (Dollar Tree also carries the zippered envelopes). There used to be a larger variety of tiny items that could hold earrings, pins or pills. Now the selection is limited. The front display areas still have creative items for storage or fun. If you need clear storage bins for shoes, clothes and other treasures, there are varied sized. The large bag on wheels is great for groceries or other shopping. There is something for everyone.

My family and I are big advocates for supporting local businesses rather than big box companies. However, we expect from all, big or small companies, respect and exceptional customer service. This is not what I experienced at this store. I went into the store looking for a sectional and possibly also a dining table. The salesperson was very attentive and willing to answer my questions. Before purchasing the sectional, I decided to check out other stores that same day to make sure I was getting a relatively good price and wasn't missing out on something else. I returned to the store the next day with the intention of buying the sectional but this is when it turned.... I asked the salesperson if the price for the sectional was the best given I saw another couch very similar at another store for less. He told me to speak to the owner regarding the price. I told the owner that I saw a similar couch for less and he told me they weren't the same. Of course I knew that! I asked him what the difference was and he gave me a short response - the quality. Ok... that was a general response so I asked further, "what about the quality?" He answered, I don't know how to explain. After a few seconds, he said.. the fabric.. warranty. Alright so then he asked me "is this your first time buying a couch?" And I said, yes. He then looked at the salesperson and said, "you see". He then said, "how old are you?" I responded, 34. He then he said "you're researching like you're 17". I was dumbfounded. It was insulting as if age had anything to do with this. He was alluding to my ability to purchase furniture, lack there of. I walked out and will never return. He tried to say that I "looked 17" which was even worse given I am a grown woman and want to be treated as such. Age has nothing to do with shopping for furniture!!! If I didn't sound "informed".. take the time to educate me, your customer, as that extra step may take you a long way!
