This is a good thrift store to stop by. I mostly shop for clothes and they have a pretty large selection with some high quality items. The store is organized by type and size and they have changing rooms. The prices are fixed for each type of item so you could find some things for a great price and other things may be a little overpriced. The staff were very kind and welcoming here. Goodwill has sales every week on specific tags so keep an eye out and sign up for their loyalty program. read more

The drive thru to drop off donations is very well done. The store itself is laid out nice and not junky.

I have used this location twice and I can't say enough good things. You can drive through and they have helpers that take your donations right from your car. There is an employee who writes a receipt for you and you are on your way. I love well run and efficient businesses. The employees are Super Nice and helpful! The whole process is easy and pleasant. I just have to remember to go more often. Kudos to the staff at this Goodwill location. You are the best! read more

I like thrift shopping, but it wears me out. I usually shop in just the housewares section. Prices were ok, but some items were priced too high. I'm not sure how they decide on prices for one plate over the other (we're not talking antiques). The checkout line was absurdly long for a Tuesday afternoon. Management didn't take note until about 15 minutes after the the line grew towards the back of the store, and then added a second cashier. It was a 50% off clothing day, so maybe it's not normally so crowded. I wasn't planning on buying any clothing, but while waiting in line to buy my $0.99 item I spied a merino wool shirt from Marks & Spencer (Marks & Sparks to those in the know). It was just $2.99 at half off. I actually think it's a men's sweater, but will be great for dog walking in the fall. read more

This Goodwill is right off a major road (355) and not particularly easy to get into but at least it has plenty of parking in the front. My parents and I visited to check out the selection, but overall it was very messy, very busy, and very claustrophobic. The aisles were not narrow, but there were kids running around and items on the floors, and staff looked exhausted. It was an unusually warm Sunday in October, so everyone was at Goodwill! Purple-stickered items were half off, so we snagged a few things. The cashier was quick but not very friendly. I'm writing this review from the perspective of a donor. Since my girlfriend recently weaseled her way into living with me I'm completely out of space. My dressers are packed and my closets are full. I reached my breaking point when I barely had any room to put away my new winter gear. After taking a deeper look into my wardrobe I realized that I've been hanging on to a lot of good clothing, in perfect condition that I simply don't wear anymore. So I purged my closet, I purged my dressers then I took it a step further and looked at DVD's, books, CD's ect...anything in good condition that someone else may have interest in. I was happy with the donation process, this location makes it easy. There is a drive through and all you have to do is pull up and wait for an attendant. The attendant was polite and helpful in assisting me with unloading the car. I was provided a receipt for tax purposes and I was on my way. I was probably there for 6 minutes total and that was only because there was one car ahead of me when I arrived. This location is right off 355 and near an exit for Gaithersburg off 270. Result: I have closet space and someone is about to get a bunch of J crew sweaters and AG jeans on the cheap. Good for them, good for me. read more

Give the manager a raise! I bought a piano from this goodwill and the tall Asian-American manager helped me load it into my car. Thing weighed like 400 pounds, and the store was past close. Talk about going above and beyond. The clothes were nice too. I got a green sweater. read more

I donated a couple times(not anymore keep reading) to this place then when I started to go to this store I found out it had decent prices, not cheap; but decent the media was a mess on prices that was very expensive then prices dropped so I started to frequent the store more often, and notice they have this consignment part like a boutique, not cheap at all you find better deals on the department store on the clearance rack than here. So now I go every now and then to get movies, I am a movie lover always have always will, but as s donor there should be a law of how much things should be sold for since when we make taxes the mist we can claim is 300 dollars not fair when they are selling donated goods for 1600 yes that's right look at the picture. And I happened to be talking to the manager without knowing, and she said; "they price accordingly" So I told her: "I as a donor don't want my donations to be sold that expensive, I don't think the donors meant their DONATED GOODS to be sold at such high rate. I want people to get the stuff I bought for full price, at a price they can afford without problems at all" She said: "their mission is NOT TO REACH POOR PEOPLE they have their own mission" That was enough, I been going for months now for the last three months to check on prices I didn't want to make a review based on just a couple times there, but I went to a GOODWILL close to Fort Lauderdale in Florida and their prices were "JAW DROPPING" almost everything priced at at 3.99 and a really big suitcase I'll put the picture just 6.99 when at this location the cheapest suitcase is 14.99 and they didn't have this lie of consignment stuff to cheat you and get even more money out of you. I would rather recommend Salvation Army down the street before reaching Germantown, prices are WAY BETTER customer service is not the best but I go for the good deals anyways. read more

I recently moved from a different location in dmv to Gaithersburg and moving meant a lot of rethinking and analysis of the stuff I own. Which then meant a lot of stuff was put aside to be given away. In the past, most of my clothes have gone to the big yellow donation boxes - they disappear in an abyss and I have no clue what happened to them ( not that I don't trust the yellow boxes, but who knows) So this time, I decided to be a little more proactive and looked up a goodwill store.. This place showed up super close to my new place - I have now been here multiple times in the past couple of months with stuff to give away. I don't know what their store front looks like since I have not been there, but the back where you donate is very well organized for a thrift store whet people pretty much dump stuff a lot of times! A very streamlined process that requires you to drive through to the back, and wait your turn. The people running the operation and courteous and awesome! Very hassle free, plus I mostly don't even need to get out of my car if it's just a clothes bag or whatever - yeah me lazy bones lol! Oh and don't forget the tax receipt! I've been going here more often since the customer service at the thrift store by my house has gotten so bad. I love this goodwill. I am big on buying second hand as it is good for the environment to recycle things. I've been 3 times in the past 10 days and have had exceptional service. The store is so organized and tidy and the employees are so kind and helpful. The cashier named Monique P. is so nice. She Greets customers as we walk in the door and acts like she really likes her job. Today there was a long line and she was the only cashier and she was moving right along and was apologetic that it took so long in line but she was moving it fast. I will drive the extra distance to get great customer service and she's outstanding. This goodwill is bright and clean and super organized. No odd smell like some second hand places. Sparkly inside and the dishes are dust free. I have been redoing my kitchen and have found so many nice dishes and will keep going back for more. read more

I used to work for this Goodwill. They ask you to round up so that you may save a life. Whatever that means. But they say that the money goes to job training programs within Goodwill. As a cashier you have to get more than 40% in round ups in a day. Most of the time people don't want to at all, and at the times where I was at 38% - 39% I would get a write up for poor job performance for not meeting exceptions. The way I see it is that rounding up at Goodwill is just a legalized way of panhandling as it was described by my manager during one of our coaching sessions. I'm sorry but I felt that it wasn't right to swindle money from old people/ senior citizens. Honestly cashiers asking me for donations etc. is my number one pet peeve especially when they're aggressive about it. I hate that it affects the employees reviews and feel like that's pretty low. TL;DR: If you the customer don't round up, Goodwill management will take action resulting in disciplinary action against the employee. *EDIT. MY RESPONSE TO BRENDAN. 4/13/2018* Brendan. Imagine if you went to Walmart and they asked you if they could just have some of your money and because you said no that employee was reprimanded .. yeah sorry no. It's not fair to the employee. Goodwill is providing jobs and job training for people that normally couldn't do it by themselves, I know it's part of their job but isn't the whole thing about Goodwill is how your donations help people with disabilities? So why would anyone need to round up to help people with disabilities, isn't that what everyone just did by buying all that stuff? In response to your comment about not setting a monetary Round-Up goal for individual associates, I've taken the liberty to post a few photos of an employee disciplinary form along with the screen shot of your comments contraindicating your quotes. They have a good selection of clothing and household items. The store is small, tightly packed and busy a lot so it can be a bit cramped. It's definitely worth it for the variety and abundance of things to buy at an almost free price. One of my favorite thrift stores. read more

Donation drop off at this Goodwill location is a breeze. Once you turn right into the parking lot from Frederick Road (turn right when you see the restaurant Burma Road), signs point you to go towards the back of the building to the donation center. Once there, all you have to do is pull up, put your car in park, and someone will help you unload all your donations into a large bin. On busy days such as 12/31, a large Goodwill truck is parked along the side of the building and attendants are there to help unload your goods. Don't forget to get your donation receipt before you leave! I did that the last time I was there and had to go back for one. read more

We will never be back here. We stopped by at about 5:45 to look at the furniture. The place had quite a few people walking around and buying stuff. As soon as we walk to the furniture, a lady comes up to us and says "the store is closed." Um. Okay? It's not even 5:50. So we keep looking around on our way out. We pick up a toy that I had as a kid just to look at it when another employee practically shouts at us "We are closed!" Wtf. I pull out my phone and it's 5:52. They close at 6? They have got to chill out. But wait, I'm not done yet. So then we were waiting in the door for my mother in law who had some clothes, etc. in her hand and was walking towards the cash register line. Then the cashier shouts in a hideous tone "Whoever's not in line is not being rung up!" Meanwhile it is literally 5:58. So after that my mother in law just dropped the items she had and we just walked out. These people are rude and obsessed with closing. I work in retail and I would never act like that 10 minutes before closing, before being fired on the spot I would be embarrassed to have an attitude like that in front of strangers, who are also paying customers. They clearly do not care about customers or making a sale. I feel bad for all those people giving them money. We will never be back. read more

I've been frequenting this little spot since 2004. I love it. Found some real unique items over the years. Tuesdays are sale days. I'm there mostly for records and misc, From time to time I tend to see recurring customers who hang around the counter that sometimes give me the feeling of 'unfair advantage' but that's O.K....I like a challenge. The donation process is as easy as can be. You drive around the back and the employees move your donations away. My family have donated at least 10 CRT-displayed televisions here. It's such a relief unloading your load, the only comparable comparison is getting a handie at Porthole, before you have to pay for another song. I do one massive donation once a year emptying my closets and bookcase. I hate coming here after donating because I always feel like my items are upset with me. The store is well organized. Over half of the store is devoted to clothing. The clothes all have that Goodwill musk so you should definitely wash any clothing you get here. There are the occasional rare finds- the 2001 HFStival shirt or the '97 Trojan Wrestling Sweatshirt. I don't buy from here. I always use the handy man guide to a better life when making any purchases. 1) Is this better than x samosas from Metro Dhaba? 2) Will I get at least 3 uses out of this item? 3) Will this help me get laid? If the answer is yes to all three, then I buy it. If not, I do not. read more

I love the dead people clothes section and picked up 3 nice shirts, a lamp, small radio, all sorts of kitchenware and other totally needed things as I had just moved here from California 2 days ago with nobody here to help. I wasn't very impressed by this thrift store at all. They had some things priced so high that you could literally drive a half mile over to Nordstrom Rack and get it brand new for less money. I did find a cute designer top for $6 and some Steve Madden sandals for my kid, for $3.99. Not bad, but when who wants to pay $39.99 for a used pair of shoes? No thanks. I donate and buy here and am a happy customer either way. Donation process is easy and fast. This Goodwill has a large selection of dinnerware and the employees have taken the time to group sets together which makes it very easy to shop. There's a centralized and large place to test electronics. I've bought second hand phones and a large computer monitor for a laptop. Clothing is neatly rack by size. I always enjoy walking in the front door to browse the boutique items. Furniture moves pretty quickly at this location. read more

My husband found a suit for $10. If you're patient enough to look, sometimes you may find amazing stuff. I saw a "vintage" Dooney and Burke in a case up front. I don't shop at thrift stores but was charged with taking 3 third graders out to find "costumes" for their class opera (yes, opera). The store was fairly well organized with large over-head signs identifying "Women's", "Men's", etc. The racks were divided by sizes with some mixed-up in the wrong section and a few boys mixed in with girls, but overall fairly well organized. The "Kid's" section was surprisingly small to me. We didn't have a lot of luck, probably because instead of just browsing for bargains, we were looking for specific items for the performers. The clothes all seemed in good condition, I didn't notice any stains or tears. There was a small play area for children which was a nice touch. I didn't go into the home goods area since we were concentrating on costume items. If there was a method to the pricing it didn't jump out at me. There was the option of rounding up for a donation at check-out, so we took advantage of that. The staff was nice with my students, they even expressed interest in our opera! read more

I will probably give a better review to this place next time, but it's currently "under construction" so everything was a hot mess! Bags, shoes, frames, toys, were strewn everywhere. They do have a large organized section of plates and house items, however their furniture section is quire small, a few desks, and dressers and couches, nothing compared to the set up at the Salvation Army in Hyattesville/Bladensburg. This goodwill is also easy to miss, it's tucked behind a Burmanese Restaurant off the main road, if you don't have a GPS you can easily miss it. read more

I've only been to this Goodwill once, only because I just got into thrift store shopping in the last few years and I don't live in the area (use to in 2004). I regret not stopping in sooner because I found some amazing things at this Goodwill location. However, I know that thrifting can be very hit or miss, sometimes you can go into the same store and find a cart full of things and other times can you leave empty handed. I left with a fabulous jacket, a sought after book, a rare cd, and a few other things for the house. This Goodwill had a decent amount of people in it but I did go on a weekend day. The person at the drop of was very rude. There was a semi dropping of a trailer do the drop of entrance was blocked. I walked in to drop off my donation and the person flatly told me that it was a drive thru only. This discriminates against people without cars. I won't be dropping anything if at this Goodwill again, not that I think they care. read more

Man, this place has gone downhill. I've been popping by periodically for several years since it's in my neighborhood, and I've seen them gone from a decent store selling secondhand goods at thrift store prices to a store with higher aspirations and perversely, lower standards. Whatever chintz is commonly found in thrift stores is even chintzy-er and in greater quantities, but the prices have gone from secondhand in the burbs to vintage in Williamsburg. 80/90s furniture and electronics priced way above value, clothing from discount retailers and random home decor at the price you would pay for them at Walmart/Target/Ross/Burlington Factory, outdated Coach and other typical TJ Maxx down-market brands at $50+ and $100+, the list goes on. I also saw that $1600 sofa the poster below posted about. Crazy. I mean, yes it's leath-ah, but leather sofas from West Elm (which is NOT down-market) are that price, NEW. I picked up a Gap lightweight trench today, 'cause hey, why not, we're about to enter fall and I might as well. It's hip-length, but the cashiers insisted it qualifies as a long coat and priced it as such. Short coats, they said, are waist-length only. No, dear, that's a jacket. Urgh. I bought it 'cause proceeds are going towards a good cause, but this store really needs to reevaluate itself. If you're going to charge like the Antiques Row shops in Kensington or Secondi in Dupont, you better be as well-curated as them. Otherwise, it's pure laziness and greed. read more
