The population is just over 1000 but this lil town is host to over 80 small and family owned businesses including award-winning restaurants, art galleries, hair/spa services, a historical society, museums, unique shops and boutiques. Occoquan has lots of parks & trial accessible by foot, bike & water. There are also lots of water activities like kayaking. The Town of Occoquan is constantly voted the #1 Tourist Destination in Prince William County each year & I love to get haaappy in Occoquan - any hour - sitting on the riverfront, listening to some live music. And although you say you accept new and gently used items, sometimes a volunteer wants to cherry pick. Everything is always carefully packed and protected as necessary, and we're not going to unpack and repack boxes at someone's whim, and then find somewhere else for items not taken. After many years donating to a variety of nonprofit thrift shops, and sadly our favorite one shutting down, we're giving up on the Treasure Hound. We have not had similar problems with any other shop. It makes us sad because we prefer to support a group like yours that helps animals.
