I love this place in the Kentlands in Gaithersburg! it's tucked away and has some amazing little treasures to choose from. So many unique fines if you're looking for somewhere, that's gonna have unique items that you can't find anywhere else but they're gorgeous and great quality this place to go. I have found some amazing soaps, hand creams, and so many other things here I always pop in just to see what I can get my hands on. Great store! Nice location, lots of parking, very clean and inviting with an outdoor display ( possibly depending on the weather, I'd imagine .... ), lots of selection in a tidy, cozy space. Very interesting local things you don't see in other places, such as greeting cards with a map of the Kentlands and baby clothes with prints of area themes. I really enjoy the lotions, perfumes, jewelry polishing items, and I need to go back for a cute, small, portable lint remover! I can't remember everything I like there right now -- but I know I have never been disappointed! There are many great restaurants around so I like to combine going to this place with a nice lunch out .... Everyone in this store is really helpful and nice, and not only do they help me find what I'm looking for, give me information about it or leave me alone to look on my own depending on my preference, plus pack everything up really nicely while I'm checking out and don't even notice they're packing because it's done so inconspicuously and seamlessly, but I get this very strong 'I can't do it!' feeling when I go here, because everything about and everyone in this store is just so encouraging! This is an adorable little gift shop in the heart of the Kentlands. Everything from floor to ceiling is for sale and there's quite a variety. There's vintage, there's new, there's clothing. There's a lot of local businesses that have stuff for sale. Candles, Maryland themed merch. They were actually hosting a pop up with my friend Sam's little baking business (Sweets by Sam), and they do this for local businesses on the reg which is REALLY nice. They are ALL about supporting local. Also, something cool is that they employ a younger generation to give them work experience. The owner of the shop Jody (Jodi?) is really kind, welcoming, and sweet. There really arn't a lot of shops like this in the Kentlands, and I think if you stop by, you'll probably walk out with a gift for someone. I ended up finding a vintage Boy Scout patch from NCAC (the local council) which is really cool. There's also stuff that is good for young children. Some really cute teas too. DEFINITELY worth a little detour if you're in the area. It's one of those stores where you should definitely make a couple of rounds around the store, cause there's so much you're bound to miss things. read more

It's been a while since I've been here, but I'm a huge fan of the store! Shoot, it's been since before my sister moved back to NY. It's located in Kentlands Square closer to the Main Street side. I was passing time while my niece was in an art class, so I really got to take it all in. It's so Maryland, having socks with Old Bay on them among other things. Lots of antiques and vintage items to explore too. And the place is quite spacious, so you can spend quite a bit of time in there exploring, hanging out... shoot, you could do a scavenger hunt in there LOL! There was a woman who I now realize is the owner checking in to see if I had any questions, and we chatted a little. I'd be curious to see what new things are in there now. it's perfect for niche pickings! If you're ever in Kentlands, be sure to stop by this cool shop. read more

the hospitality in this store was off the charts. the customer service was incredible. you're greeted the second you walk through the door and employees are chatty and friendly. i went there looking for jewelry and i was not disappointed. they're a little expensive, as most local shops can be, but it makes sense given the value of the items. i don't regret a single dollar i spent at this store! i have nothing bad to say about this store. i will absolutely be coming here again! so glad to find a little gem like this so close to home. keep supporting small family businesses!! read more

Stumbled upon this shop and was so glad I did. A unique, cute selection of so many different goodies, from clothing to wall decor and vintage Poloroid cameras. The two staff on the floor were also really welcoming. I was interested in the floor mats but unfortunately it doesn't seem the shop sells those. My sister and I was hanging out in the Kentlands & we found this great vintage local. They had so many good small gift items, and scented candles, body lotions & Jodi the owner, and she was very helpful, explaining everything in details. I got a couple cute little shell vintage spoons as a gift for my mom. As soon as we walked in there was a young teenager girl who shared their mission for the community -forgot her name she was kind. I got small little hair bands for my hair clients. As I am a hairstylist, I found these cute little hair bands for my hair clients as gifts. The items have a purpose & story. As someone who has been going to My Big Finds since it opened in Kentlands (a few locations back), this store has changed and unfortunately is not my cup of tea anymore - very small selection of vintage items compared to back in the day, and on top of everything, the experience is uncomfortable since the owner always seems to be training new employees and is constantly correcting them in front of customers. Other friends have noticed this behavior too. I would rather the transaction take a bit longer than listen to the owner nit pick their own employee's every action in front of everyone. I wouldn't have even noticed most things they correct out loud. That is something that can be done more privately. read more

One of the coolest consignment shops ever!! Could have spent hours in here. Lots of local goods, along with just rare and unique finds. One of the more organized consignment shops that I've seen. Each section of the store had themes. I got caught up in the bowl of quotes (see attached pic). There is something for everyone here. I was thinking this would be a great place to do Christmas shopping. My favorite part of this experience was the packaging of your purchase. Not just tossed into a generic plastic/paper bag. While waiting to have brunch in the area, the hubs and I stopped by to check out My Big Finds. A pop-up store owned by Jodi Rapaport features restored, reclaimed, and upcycled and vintage collectibles - the store will constantly be featuring and adding new items and 'finds.' Furniture, vintage dishes, local handmade jewelry, scarves, candles, house decor, and even a cornet are some of the items can be found. I really loved the carved out wooden pig made in the Philippines in which you can place either fruit or other decorative pieces on a table. The Italian soup pot that was beautifully painted was adorable, and I'm thinking of researching soup recipes just to use that piece! The staff here are super friendly, welcoming, and allows you to peruse at your own leisure. The store itself is not too big, but it is chock full of interesting pieces that can add some great accents to your home or office. I came here on the morning of Christmas Eve to pick up a last-minute gift. I got here around 10:30 and was able to snag a 90-minute parking spot right in front of the store. It wasn't busy since it was early and raining that morning. The shop was packed with goodies; some vintage/antique, some not. It was pretty easy to distinguish the old (Depression-era glassware, antique cameras) from the new (handmade soaps, t-shirts, candles). Everything was clearly labeled and priced. I loved that most of the items I looked at were really affordable, with a few exceptions (some antique items and furniture pieces). The set-up of the shop was really great and made it so fun to browse. I had stopped by with the intention of picking out a quick gift, but wound up staying an hour to have a better look around, and ultimately bought myself a few things as well. In the end I bought 4 items for about $56 total, including some Depression glass, some old framed prints, and a plate. All of my items, including those that were not gifts, were neatly and carefully packaged. There was Christmas wrapping paper at the time as well. The store used Square and accepted all major credit cards. I was glad to find such a cute place to buy unique and affordable gifts. The store is conveniently located in Kentlands and there is free parking nearby. read more

This store is such a fun place to stop. I discovered it recently while waiting with a friend for a to go order at the restaurant next door. I've been several times since. Each time I go, I see things I didn't see the time before. It is so much fun to browse the store. The store has such a fun mix of antiques, crafts, and well chosen gift and home items. It is all displayed in a way where it becomes an experience being in there. One second I'm laughing at a funny quote on a mug and the next second I'm seriously debating on rearranging my living room in order to hang this really cool antique ceiling lamp. This is "the local gift and antique shop" that you bring a friend to whenever they come in town, the place you should stop by before or after getting crepes, the place you need to wander with your Starbucks coffee, the place you stop by while waiting for a table at Vasilis. My Big Finds is such a perfect balance to the Kentlands, I hope it's there for a long time. read more

I have no self control before breakfast. Actually, I have no self control after breakfast either. But on this occasion, I'm going to blame it on the lack of breakfast. It was Saturday morning, and we just got coffee and picked up our new glasses from the eye doc's in the Kentlands. My husband, feeling a nice hunger upon him, decided to drive through the Kentlands to see if there was a breakfast joint that would appeal to us, when he drove past My Big Finds. And well.......if you heard the loud screeching that caused my husband to nearly hit a curb you would probably understand why he was so annoyed by me. But he also knows that once I spy a store that I want to visit, it's just faster and easier to give in (my voice is loud, grating, and I am like a 5 year old with my ability to hold my breath until I get what I want). We walked in, and I was enraptured. This is the kind of store that I love. I truly do enjoy digging through rummage-y stores to find that elusive and hidden vintage find...however that requires a lot of effort and quite amount of luck. However, most antique stores that beautifully display their wares also tend to aggressively price those wares. So imagine my surprise when I look at the beautiful displays...and the moderate prices! While more expensive than the rummage-y type thrift stores, I also don't need to rely upon luck, prayer, and wondering when I got my last tetanus shot as I dig through 8ft of crap to find that one gem...so I'll take it! Be aware that not everything is vintage, there are also a lot of new stuff in the shop, but most people should be able to tell the difference (I mean, come on). So, despite walking out with a $38 perfect Coro necklace (with the original Coro jewelry box!), a savagely gorgeous dragon teapot, and 6 cute little retro snack dishes, am I only giving 4 stars? Well, because of the gem that we saw but couldn't get enough info to buy. One of the things in the store was an original vintage upright radio --- in GERMAN. Like, I can't even begin to tell you how I started to feel faint when I saw it. It was in near pristine condition, and it looked amazing. However, the husband and I have hunted down enough vintage finds to know that sometimes the most perfect item can be shit if you don't check it out. So we asked the lady running the counter, if she could plug in the radio. If it turned on - we would buy it on the spot...................and she said she wasn't sure if she could plug it in, and that we would need to call the shop owner. Which we did - my husband left a message. That was 3 days ago (to be fair, the owner could have called back and my husband might have neglected to tell me about it - but considering that I was about to pass out from love over this radio, I doubt he would forget to tell me such a thing because he knows how I would freak the fuck out if someone else got this radio...if it works). Also, this is the first time that we've been in a vintage store where the shop wouldn't let us test/confirm that something is working before purchase (since most vintage stores don't allow returns - especially for such a pricy and large item)...... But my fingers are crossed and I still hope to hear back from the store. I just need the radio to turn on and I'll buy it, dammit. read more

All I can say is Amazing!! I love this store and could easily spend hours and hundreds of dollars here. I love vintage and shabby items and this pop up does not disappoint. Aside from the great prices, the owner is so helpful and willing to go out of her way to make sure you find what you are looking for. Great customer service! Jodi is the best! I live in Wisconsin and was attempting to locate a specific British item no where to be found in the Midwest. An importer referred me to My Big Finds for a possible solution. I sent Jodi a message via her contact page and got a prompt reply. While she didn't have it in stock, she offered to order it for me and have it shipped. The package arrived within the week. I'm thrilled!
