Pros: there is always something new and prices are definitely better than new. We have found good pieces. Cons: consigning is a mixed bag. We have been able to consign a number of items but how the process goes seems to depend on who's on the floor that day. Once, we had to convince the staff to essentially take back something we purchased there that ended up not working for us. Sold in less than 2 weeks. We've had staff tell us our item was the wrong color only to find a similar item - same color. The favorite comment is "tired" but we have found things on the floor that were dirty and covered in dog hair. Bottom line, worth a look if you are hunting for good furniture but be prepared for inconsistency when trying to consign. read more

Any fans of consignment centers here on yelp then this place if for you. There used to be a TUESDAY MORNING next door to this center but that had been long since shut down and closed. This center has lots of furniture sofas movies type recliners lamps chairs , pictures paintings, house decorations, gaming chairs which all are in great and superb condition . I was really surprised thinking this place would be a waste of time .Nothing is dusty broken or way too old. This has been hit by smash and grab a couple of times recently. This is why they have the jewelry locked up and have more locked security sensors on high value items . Only thing is I didn't see any real deals like a big price cut . I've been in the market for a leather sofa for the past few months--no rush, I have 2 cute love seats, but lately people who come over have been telling me they're not cutting it. I made a spreadsheet of different leather sofas and sectionals I found that I liked, including brand, price, dimensions, pros, and cons. I don't usually go to Danville or the East Bay, but this holiday season we decided to visit our cousins out there instead of having them come to us! I was going to just go to the RH Outlet, but they suggested the Home Consignment Center in Danville which was on the way. We walk in--there's plenty of parking outside and it's near Costco (and Costco Gas.) The place is cavernous! It's packed! A picture does not do it justice. They had so many different sofas, chairs, chaises, sectionals, artwork, and cute knickknacks. A few leather sofas including a cute tufted one caught my eye, but this one leather sectional in particular really stood out. It was new with tags and very reasonably-priced--this was because it is pretty low/short, which can be fixed easily! We chatted with some employees who also mentioned we could add risers and make it taller/higher, and they explained the brand Timothy Oulton is pretty much Restoration Hardware because he was a designer for them. I bought the piece on the spot and we drove it home in my mom's SUV in 2 trips. We appreciate the staff for helping us load the car and carry the different sectional modules through the store! They were very kind and helpful. My cousins had told us that you don't know what you're going to find at Home Consignment Center as it has different pieces depending on when you go! I've been coming in here and there but noticed their selection of used furnitures has been lacking lately. Just went yesterday where no one greeted us or offered to help. This is very much a self serve place where you holler if you want to buy something but they won't do a lot of help in explaining anything. I've never been able to find anything I like here compared to other places. read more

We visited this Danville location and were assisted by Dan & Bobbie in the fine jewelry department. We found a beautiful 2.5 cwt Ceylon sapphire ring made by the jeweler maker Effy on consignment for 1/3 price of what you would pay retail. The ring was so well cared for like brand new. They cleaned it for me and afterwards it sparkles like crazy. I know it's the real deal because there is engraving on the band. The blue sapphire stone is earth mined and NOT synthetic! Yes you can get beautiful luxurious jewelry on consignment without breaking your bank. Now I need to get a pair of blue sapphire to go with it. Great place for people looking for home furnishings on a budget. The inventory switches out pretty quickly, so if you see something you like and want to contemplate buying it, put it n hold. You will have a week to get things sorted. Just remember if you don't pick it up after the week hold, it's up for grabs. Best to buy it now because it most likely won't be there the next time you go back. We've found many high cost furnishings for low cost. They even see jewelry, paintings, and chandeliers. This picture was of a Restoration Hardware tufted leather couch that was on hold. I looked at it carefully and noticed it was about to expire. Came in the next day when they opened and found out the buyer never purchased it, so we ended up getting it. They also do have movers available. Updating with a current review. A friend mentioned that she was on the "model home email list" at Home Consignment Center. She goes at 10am on the delivery day. She said she thinks one of the women working there has personal clients that she gives first dibs to, because she said she had seen several pieces of furniture get marked instantly sold right after coming off the truck. I got on the email list and went myself, twice, on model home delivery days. Sure enough, I saw a dark-haired woman working the delivery as items were coming off the truck, and within minutes, saw an expensive tool chest, desk, and a large mirror get sold tags added to them. No one besides me and another customer were walking around the delivery section. I asked the other lady if she had purchased the tool chest as I was potentially interested in it for my husband, and she said no. So how did it get marked sold so quickly if no one else was there but us?? That was disappointing. We got there early to get first dibs in person but stuff was getting marked sold right out from under us, for people who weren't even there. I would complain to management but I'm sure as long as they are selling items, they don't care. So just be warned, the really good stuff is unlikely to ever hit the floor! read more

*Review for Selling Item* Customer service is hit-or-miss. Friendly younger teens at the dock in the back mostly handle incoming items for sale and pricing. Older ladies in the front can mediate pricing requests/questions, but are not exactly the friendliest. Expect 45¢ on the dollar (as priced) as net proceeds. My item did sell. I didn't mind how long it took, but I wish the net proceeds were higher. I'll definitely sell my items here again, but will be selective based on the split. In case you're wondering about the consignment policy, here's the full text (not on their website): Home Consignment Center Furniture Department Furniture Consignment Policy Home Consignment Center and the Consignor of the listed items agree on the following terms 1) The items are cosigned for sale. Cosignor warrants that he/she is the owner or otherwise is legally entitled to sell the items. 2) Cosiginor to receive 50% of net proceeds net proceeds to include proportionate deduction for credit card service fee or check verification fee if any. 3) Sales at asking price is subject to automatic permission to reduce up to 20% if necessary to make a sale. Any reduction more than 20% of then current asking price requires cosignor's approval. Oral approval via phone is acceptable. 4) Cosignor warrants that to the best of his/her knowledge, items are as represented. 5) seller may remove any item from flor sale prior to 45 days provided there is no pending sale. It is very difficult to find great quality furniture with a reasonable price tag. It can be quite expensive refurnishing new homes. I was introduced to the consignment shop by my grandmother. Seeing her newly furnished home was enough for me to visit the establishment. I can say that you will be tempted to leave the store with just about everything. From living room sets to accent pieces, they have it all. All furniture pieces are well maintained. It can be taken home same day as purchase. Make sure you drive or rent a moving truck if you are purchasing large items. The price range varies from $20.00 to $1,000.00. This also includes their wide selection of jewelry. (The jewelry may be a tad bit pricier). The customer service is good. I'm still trying to fill out the service as a whole. The service moments that I enjoyed the most were: 1. They acknowledged me by name. 2. They were very helpful by loading the furniture into the vehicle. I will be coming back to purchase more pieces once we are fully moved into our new home. The prices in this place need a major recalibration. While I found some reasonably priced pieces and a couple bargains (a cool tufted sofa for only $400), there was a lot that was overpriced or the same price (and quality) as what you could get at Marshall's or Target, especially for decorative items. Not sure why I'd be motivated to buy secondhand or previously owned when I could just buy the items new for the same price. Also found some stuff like a scratched up mirror for $39 and my exact bedframe for $99, which Amazon sells for $78 new. read more

Went in early at opening and selected an item, I put it on hold for the day to go home and doublecheck the measurements, I was told I was first in line to purchase (and they placed a tag on it, listing my name in first position) I came back to purchase it and there were many tags on the item, as back up holds, and to my surprise, my tag had been edited, with my number and date crossed out and another buyer was placed in front of me. (I have a photo of the original tag during my first trip, prior to their edit) I was standing with cash in hand and was told that "the manager had offered the piece to someone else and had forgotten to update the system so I was actually #2" They had my phone number in their computer, but couldn't call me? Wasted trips. Awful service. BS story. The manager offered free delivery, if I end up buying the item (but of course, the guy who jumped the list through him, purchased the item, why make an obnoxious "offer" knowing knowing very well that I had zero chance of purchasing it?) The cashier (grayish hair, female) said "oops, we all make mistakes" - Female salesperson (dark hair) "There is nothing we can do - we cannot reach the man in position #1 as his phone number isn't working" *They had my phone number! they couldn't call to tell me I was edged out and to save my time and gas? Never again. I have purchased many items over the years, but this was my tipping point. Their rude attitudes and poor service will never bring me back. Also - if you visit, make sure to research pricing - many items are overpriced and you can pay the same for brand new. Very disappointed in the service my sister received. She tried to consign some vintage furniture pieces with carvings into the woods. They didn't even have the consideration to reply. When I went into the store to inquire, the lady was rude and dismissive and just told me they could not consign. Something has changed in dodge... Today, store cramped and items poorly displayed. By pelt displayed, I mean rows of items blocking access. Felt like climbing through items to try and get price. Finally just went to front to try to get info on few items. As stated by several other reviews...customer service isn't this locations strength. The general feel/attitude is I'm just too busy to answer questions. If that is really the case...management needs to hire more staff. Either they need more staff or different staff, but they aren't doing your business any favors. Prices are fair on the furniture side. And I have made a few large purchases in the past. Jewelry area is hit or miss, but prices not flexible. Sometimes there is a man working and he is knowledgeable and open. The women on the other hand are a different experience. I've been wanting to visit since the move... Store is tucked away sort of behind Marshalls & Costco, plenty of parking. Upon entering we were greeted right away from a lovely staff as she was moving some furniture... We started down the path to the right, alot of items, pretty heavily packed.. Most are stacked on top of each other but visible. There were alot of art work, great mirror selections, dining sets, sofas etc.. We took our time to browse every single corner and turn.. it was fun and killed about 30 mins or so in the store...most items are traditional style so not quite my esthetic but they often get new items in so you never know... I wasnt looking for jewelry that day but if i was, i would definitely go there to check it out. My friend picked up a 3 piece vase set, she was happy! There are 2 bathrooms close to back of store.. They act as a clearing house for model homes -- that is, the furniture of model homes once it's no longer needed there. Pricing for a dresser, for instance, is at least 50% less than what you'd find on the internet for something similar. It's hit or miss, and some people genuinely do put personal stuff up for consignment so there is some dated stuff in there too. Still...it's all about the hunt! I asked to clarify whether that was one pillow or the set because they were threshold brand from TARGET . She said 29 per pillow. I was surprised because that was 50% MORE than you can buy them brand new at target. Her rude response was oh.... I check in weekly - you just never know - AND - you can "test drive" items - meaning you can take it home, and if it doesn't work - bring it back for a full refund. I recently purchased a bedframe from this location. When I got home, I discovered they had loaded the wrong side rails for it into my car. Annoyed, I called the store to explain what had happened and, without having to ask, they immediately apologized and arranged for an employee to drive out to my house and exchange them for the correct ones that very same day, within just a few hours, for no extra charge. That level of taking responsibility and prompt service is sorely lacking from many businesses these days, and is more than enough to ensure that I will be back in the future. Super friendly and amazing prices on high quality gently used furniture keeps us coming back for more on a regular basis. My only problem with this place is I don't have enough space to buy everything. I would highly recommend checking out there inventory before making any other large home furnishing purchases. I purchased two chairs from HCC on July 10, 2022. The power chair had a Abbyson One Year Term Warranty document attached with led me to believe there was warranty on the chair. Within 4 months, the chair started peeling behind where my husband's head sits. I went to HCC and asked for a remedy and they said Abbyson would provide the warranty, they would not offer me a refund or discount on another purchase. I emailed Abbyson and called them, but they do not warranty HCC as they are not a dealer. It was FALSE for HCC to leave warranty documents on the chair when they are not dealers for Abbyson furniture. After posting on BBB I received a call from Jason at HCC stating he wanted to make it right and would call when they received their new items on Wednesday. No call. So I drove to Danville to discuss face to face. Jason told me he did want to make it right and again stated he would call me that week. No Call. Ripped me off and I spent more money to buy another chair from a reputable company in Livermore. read more
