Cuesta Antique's unique (and antique) truck.

Nice store for a look around. Crowded (but not TOO crowded) with a variety items. One little gem was not an antique but a TAXI WALLET. If I got this, I would be switching from a money clip for cash and a separate hardcase credit card 'wallet'. I loved that combination but I liked what I saw with the TAXI WALLET. Still, switching came with a serious dose of, "I'll give it a try." I've used it for a week at this point and I'm so happy I made the switch. It don't have to open it to get to either of the two credit cards that I use constantly. I really enjoyed meeting Lawrence, the proprietor and co-inventor of the TAXI WALLET.

Small location so they don't have big pieces, BUT super great collection including many vintage trunks & suitcases. Also lots of artwork.

We were visiting my sister in Walnut Creek, Rossmoor when we went on a car ride and found Cuesta Antiques.

This is a fun store to explore, especially if you are into antiques or have friends who are. I…read moreloved their collection of salt and pepper shakers, and there were also some posters you would probably never see printed today because of how politically incorrect they are. The store is full of fabulously ridiculous finds, the kind of items that make you want to keep looking. We ended up buying two pairs of salt and pepper shakers along with a few other things. The owner was friendly, and his sweet dog Gracie, a border collie and pug mix, was hanging out in the store with him. The whole place had a super relaxed vibe, which made it an especially enjoyable spot to browse.

Yesterday I made sure to call to confirm they were open & when they were closing. They were going to close an hour early (at 2pm) so we sped over to the east bay as fast as we could so I could hunt around a new antique store. We arrived at 1:30 only to find out that they had closed the store!! Are you freaking kidding me?! I guess these people really don't want my money. I don't even want to try again because I already know even if I do everything right I will pull into the parking lot to see that dang closed sign again! I'm very annoyed!

BEWARE - I went to this place when it first opened. I was overwhelmed with the quality and quantity…read moreof items. I asked how they accumulated so many antiques since this wasn't their area of expertise. I was told by purchasing estate sales and inventory of closing Antique stores. The young lady worked for her father who started the business, as I understood, was enthusiastic, very kind and helpful though not knowledgeable when I asked her questions. Many/most items were not priced. I purchased a few tiny treasures and made a mental note of other items I was interested in, excited to return. Early stages of covid shutdowns/quarantine. I drove by and thought I'd stop in to browse. Yes it was open and the owner (father I believe) was there. I wore my mask - he did not. He stood very close to me following me from room to room. I had to keep backing away since he did not seem to be concerned about not wearing a mask. I thought it was required if you were going to keep your doors open for business, and politely made an exit. Each year since, I've tried to stop by to browse. The exterior is disturbingly cluttered and trash piled on porches and in back by parking area. I've seen a man come out the back door to dump trash confirming that the place wasn't abandoned though it appears to be. My thought was that the unappealing mess is intentional to deter customers. The ebay sales make sense now since the business can still be run without having a storefront or even being on site. The online presence states location is open Saturdays only. Consider that Buy-the-Way has excellent reviews but from years ago around the time of my first visit - notice the only recent reviews are mostly negative from ebay purchases.

It was the discount that prompted me to go ahead with the purchase, thank you! The store was easy to find. I was met on the porch by a gentleman not wearing a mask. I had mine on. He extended his hand and well, I haven't interacted with humans in a LONG time so it was natural to shake his hand, all the while thinking, "What am I doing?!?" Rest assured I was very aware of not touching my face until I got home. I perused the store for a bit. It was crowded and full of interesting stuff. I was distracted, but if things were different I would have enjoyed taking my time. The propriator came down and the pick up was complete. I have to say that I LOVE the piece I purchased and I'm SO glad she offered a discount. Oh, she did have a mask on, which made me feel better. We chatted a bit about art and she said she'd keep an eye out for the type of stuff I collect. After I got back I received a message about completing the purchase with a QR code. I had no idea, but it must be a part of the purchasing process when something is picked up in person. Completing this online was a piece of cake. Bottom line, if you're into antiques and you're in the neighborhood, check out Buy The Way Artiques (is that really the name, I had no idea!)
