They had tons of shelves! I wish that's what I was looking for. They have bedframes, mirrors (TONS) shelves, desks, tables , chairs, floor mirrors, hanging mirrors, lights, drawers, tv stands, ........ basically every furniture item for your house. And everything is in pretty good condition. I posted a few good photos of what they had available. I of course couldn't get everything. ( Nor did I have the time to lol) they had a really pretty mirror dresser. I wish I needed a dresser right now because I was so tempted to buy it anyway! Super cute and elegant looking! This place is a scam. Backdoor shenanigans going on here. I consigned some very nice LAGOS pieces (which Dan repeatedly called LARGOS and printed it with an R on my contract - which confirms they don't really know fine jewelry) I returned to the store twice in the next two weeks looking for furniture and I cruised by the jewelry cases to see if any of my pieces had sold. I didn't see them either time and figured they had been sold. I inquired each time only to see the associate go to the safe, open it up and tell me it was "on hold" for "Cathy" - who is evidently one of their frequent shoppers with built-in favoritism. They were holding my jewelry hostage for "Cathy" and not allowing it to be on display for anyone else to see who might be interested. All three of the LAGOS pieces were sold and they of course gave "Cathy" a nice little discount on each piece. My payout check was $122 less than what they quoted me on the contract. Do not try to sell anything at this place. These people are scam artists. read more

I went in here with my mum and grandma. We weren't greeted, the ladies working here had their noses to the sky. I'm not sure why they think they are better than the customer, in my experience the customer comes first. Looking through reviews it appears I am not the only one with this experience. Although the owner or manager responds with the same answer that they "strive" for good customer service. Yet no solution gets put in place for future clientele. Very disappointing. Checkout this treasure trove. I have been coming here for years. I happily make the 2.5 hour round trip drive because it is so worth it for a great shopping experience. I love to change up my interior quite frequently and with the pricing here I can easily do it. Some items are brand new, but the majority of items are previously loved, and in excellent condition. There is always a great selection of furniture, jewelry, paintings, home accessories, lighting, rugs, and just about anything to decorate your house, inside, and outside. Items sell very quickly, so every time I drop in there are a ton of new things to see. Everything is priced reasonably, and you can ask if they will give you a further discount. Came here and tried to consign 1 new condition desk lamp, 1 sml/med wall mirror and 2 west elm velvet chairs in great condition. They lady quoted me $15 for the lamp and $15 for the mirror, which was a joke and then said each chair would sell for $119, which was also a bit too cheap seeing that all these items are almost brand new. So after I said that I would not be consigning the lamp and mirror she went up to $19 on the mirror then changed her mind to $25 and I said; no thanks. In my opinion when people are in charge of pricing they need to be more assertive because we are doing business and it comes across unprofessional. Anywho, she went up on the pricing of the chairs from 119 to 139, which was cool with me and seemed fair. I called about 3 weeks later and my items had sold and I got a check in the mail today. Only thing is they have a ridiculous service charge for $4 for something that I don't even know. I hate being penny pinched and that's why I don't recommend this place. In a nutshell glad my chairs were sold but the long 1hr 20 minute drive to danville and the service charges/penny pinching tactics makes it no for me for HCH because I know I could do much better. read more

Everything was way too expensive for my taste but it was all definitely unique. I love the paintings especially. Employees are very helpful and help bring everything to your car. When I was there, a lot of things were already sold or put on hold so definitely worth it to come here more than once because it seems they're always putting out new stuff. It must of been bird cage month or something because these really huge bird cages were everywhere! Who buys that? Some really amazing bedroom sets! no desks that were not ancient. most of the furniture and goods are good quality stuff...just a tad on the pricey side for some things, but then other things were a steal. I used to visit this store often, and when I finally decided to purchase something, it was a crap experience that made me not want to come back because of the lack of good customer service. I had a similar experience as Jenn M. down below. Staff were not enthusiastic to assist with questions/concerns and had a very stern and impatient personality. But anyway I did want an item, so I put it on hold so I could confirm my logistics. Came back the next day to pay and I asked if there was any room for a discount. They said no discount on holds. I said ok, may I take it off hold and come back in a few hours? The lady said, "we don't do things that way here. You can take the chance of someone buying it and take it off hold and try again later". So I said sure, please take it off hold then. So then I tried to call back a few hours later to purchase it over the phone. Lucky me, I ended up with the same rude lady who recognized my voice and she's like, "IS THIS MEGAN?" Lolol got caught! I said yup and she told me it was still on hold under my name so no, I can't get a discount. I said, but I thought we just talked about taking it off hold. I ended up buying a used couch for much more than a brand new couch of the exact same style and manufacturer would have cost me (and that's not even including the delivery I had to pay). This is my absolute go to spot for any furniture or decorative needs that I have! The store itself is massive and filled with high quality, beautiful and unique pieces. KC assisted me with what is my favorite purchase thus far, a queen iron canopy bed with beautiful scroll work. A bed like this would probably retail for around $1,000-1,500 and I walked out the door spending slightly less than $500. KC was very knowledgeable about all the pieces I was interested in and helped me to make my Final decision on this beautiful piece! The ladies at the store are all always very attentive and helpful, and the gentleman who assist in loading your purchase into your car or truck do a careful job of not damaging anything (purchase or vehicle). Purchased a few items there a couple weeks ago ................. the staff, primarily older women, were very short and curt with us. At times, dismissive and acted as though we were a bother to them. The woman who checked us out was frazzled and struggled with getting our items together. When delivery came up in conversation, she again was short saying they have nothing to do with it; however said they only contract with one delivery company and we had to phone them for service fees. I asked if the item could be moved off of the floor to prevent wear and dirt and she said they don't have the time or room to do that - NICE :) I spoke with Amber, from the delivery company, who was rude and condescending. She explained the fees to be 75.00 an hour, plus they charge you for the drive back to Danville, RIP OFF!!! Because my one way delivery went over the 1 hour mark by 15 mins, I was charged for 4 hours at $225.00. When I was coordinating with Amber she refused to provide a delivery estimate for us and told me I would have to pay whatever the driver determines; so, OFCOURSE the driver determined it would be two hours each way for the up charge. They do have a variety of nice items, but they are a bit up priced; likely because of the demographic the store is in. I would suggest you forego buying from this store and try some of the other stores, as everyone was pretty much rude and expensive. read more

I WISH I COULD LEAVE A MINUS ONE! VIsited Home Consignment Center today. The purpose for our visit was to retrieve a key to a French Cabinet we'd purchased. Granted it had been several weeks since our purchase. But we were responding to a call from Home Consignment Center to come in and retrieve the key. Stating it's in the drawer and labeled. Much to our surprise when we inquired with the salespeople behind the counter, we were shocked by a blank stare, rude response and a half baked search for our key. It's not in the drawer, who called, when! We have only one drawer for that and it's not here. Both clerks were in the " don't trouble me" zone. I ask, you don't throw them out, do you? Response, you can call a locksmith. We've purchased several thousand dollars in furniture, rugs, lamps from the Danville and the Roseville location over the past two years. We certainly will not return to the Danville location. Customet Service? Ghosts! Keep in mind, the majority of their items are manufactued in Asia, mostly China. New items are " Low price, low quality" Bad or absent customer service is the first sign of failure! My husband and I came in today again to furnish a home and the gal with the short dark hair was kinda helpful until Tara told her who we were. Which is So unprofessional. So I walk in and make eye contact with one of their people (tall lady w/ dark hair). I smiled and said hi... But before I finish she snarls "we closed at five sir" like I should get out. She glances at her watch for good measure. She never stops walking. I can't adequately convey the undertone of RUDENESS in this encounter. (OK, well I guess I'm NOT doing business here.) I get back in my car and see that it's still not 5 pm (i do a double checked using my phone)... She just wants to be sure to leave work at exactly 5, and not 1 second longer. And if you consign, they only accept goods in very good to excellent condition. Their inventory changes rapidly so I enjoy taking a stroll through their location often to see what new treasures await. read more

Came here looking for dining room chairs. I inherited a beautiful dining room table but I don't love the chairs...so after searching the internet in all my regular spots I decided to give Home Consignment Center a look. The place is packed with stuff, but I couldn't find what I was looking for but what really bummed me out is that NO ONE acknowledged my existence. There were plenty of employees and I saw some helping other people but not one person even said hello to me or made eye contact with me, so I couldn't even ask if they had some chairs in other area. This place rocks for getting quality used furniture, jewelry, rugs, pictures, etc. at a good price. It's not your typical furniture thrift store chock full of garage-sale rejects and pieces from the '70s that will never be considered "mod" or cool. Much like Buffalo Exchange, they won't take anything they think they won't sell, so you don't have to weed through a bunch of crap to find something you'd actually consider purchasing. Furniture pieces are all in excellent condition, and there are plenty of types and styles to work with the stuff you already own. Style wise, it probably skews more suburbia vs. city dweller, but then again, most of these pieces are coming from the greater Danville area. Sometimes they have silent auctions here, which equals crazy bargains...my mom purchased a $400 oriental area rug that was easily worth $5,000, and I scored 2 nice picture frames for $1 each. The space is a little crammed since they have so much stuff packed in here, although it's part of the fun to find that hidden gem of a piece that you've been looking for in the back corner. Just be careful not to get crushed by a giant wardrobe, or worse, by a stampede of soccer moms, during your search. read more

Donate your furniture to charity . 1. Financially you loose money. Once you have taken things there - that their appraiser approved and valued in our case - they still refused to take them. The cost of transporting it meant I may as well have sent them 75 dollars. 2. You can spend time describing the item on the phone and then have them refuse it as happened to us. 3. Even if they "may" accept it - you pay them 50% plus you pay for transport. The tax deduction % competes with it! 3. The volunteers in thrift/charity shops have far better customer service skills than the rude, temperament, condescending paid employees at Home Consignment. 4. You will feel good donating - and not having to experience the treatment from Home Consignment staff and manager. 5. Your money will go to a charity rather than to a business not prepared to spend money on employee training or its customers. TAKE THE TAX DEDUCTION and donate to the Hospice, Goodwill or Savers. read more

Eh...I've been in here quite a few times looking for odds and ends for our new house. It seems that recently, the place is more crowded and junky looking than ever. Depending on who you talk to, you get different levels of service (if you can talk to anyone at all). One time, I inquired about a sideboard that was missing a price tag. One person told me it was $599. Upon speaking to a second associate, she told me there was some confusion about the piece and it was actually $1099. They told me they would look into it and get back to me. I was really interested and gave them my contact info (two phone numbers and email) and no one ever called. Just plain weird. Recently, there seem to be more and more pool tables, fountains and misc. odds and ends that just don't appeal to me. I inquired about bringing some kids' furniture in and they told me not to bother because it probably just wouldn't sell, yet I've seen many kids' pieces in there. Again, it's all in who you talk to. This is a really subjective business. If you are willing to wander around and just look and willing to come back repeatedly looking for something you need, then you just might find what you're looking for. If you are looking for high end furniture or customer service, buy new from a retail store. As a seller; you'd probably be better off on Craig's List. This place is so cool! I hate paying full price for furniture, but usually don't want the lesser quality of thrift stores. Home Consignment Center falls perfectly in-between. The prices are spot on for the quality and everything is very clean and in good condition. After reading all the bad reviews for people attempting to consign, it makes sense why they would be picky--they aren't looking to sell your garbage. And I'm glad that's the case. What a bummer. I stumbled across this place by accident, went in and found a hutch that I actually wanted. Too bad their customer service is awful. I saw two or three women working there when I went in. I didn't even get a nod, smile, or hello from them. Since I wanted the hutch, my son and I began to approach the counter. Still not even an acknowledgement from them that a customer was even there. I soon realized that they were too busy talking poorly about another customer experience (calling the couple they were speaking about "weird") to offer to help us. I have been coming to this consignment store for about 10 years! This is an upscale consignment store that only sells things that the customers in the area will buy. I have bought an Ethan Allen coffee table that was sold in the regular store the season before for less than 1/2 the price. I've bought art pictures there. The art pieces are unique (some signed pieces)...nothing like you would see at Bed, Bath & Beyond...Pier 1 etc. Someday i want to find a place for the Chagall lithograhs hanging in the "small picture" section. For the "decorating challenged" people like me...you can "test drive" anything for 24 hours...you need to return the item before the next business day ends. Believe me, i've done it numerous times. It's also helpful to bring a photo of the space you're trying to fill and the ladies can help to see if it "works" with the room. The items in are constantly changing. The place is really busy on the weekends. There's competition among the shoppers to get a "good piece" for your home. Things are literally there one day and gone the next. Many interior designers peruse this place and are often speaking to their clients on the phone or showing them around the store...which becomes more competition for us regular people. ..so act quickly if you see a piece that you might like.....or at least put it on "hold" If you're tempted...there's real jewelry in the jewelry cases....diamonds, pendants etc. They have a resident jeweler authenticate the stones. They look good...... I've read other Yelpers say that the ladies are rude act snobbishly.... i think this is not the case. They act "rushed" because there are so many people buying and selling. It's a busy place. The good thing is that there are many employees working there....sometimes it's hard to flag a person down for help. If you have time, check out this store....you might find something. And if you don't find anything, go back in 3 weeks and everything will be different. I consigned all my high quality furniture and furnishings to Home Consignment Center (HCC) in September, 2017. These were pieces I originally bought from Ethan Allen, Thomasville, and some from HCC. I was moving out of state, decided to sell my furniture, and Home Consignment Center was a place I had frequented as a buyer. While my buying experiences have been good, my selling experience has not. When I tried to sell back some of the pieces I had bought from HCC, they refused to take them. These pieces were "showcase" pieces, did not have anymore wear and tear than when I bought them, yet they refused to take them. In the three months since my furniture was consigned, there has been very little communication from HCC. I periodically receive a small check with no reference of which items have been sold (except HCC's own code which means nothing to me), my requests to have checks mailed to my new address have been ignored, my requests to have checks made payable to my legal name were ignored, and requests for a list of items that have been/have not been sold have been ignored. I would recommend if you are considering consigning quality furniture/furnishings to HCC, have the written contract specify how often you will receive updates on which items have been sold/not sold, and what price they receive for the piece vs. what you have received for the piece. read more

We only have sold our unwanted funiture here and they have done a great job selling our items for us. I have not bought anything from them yet but their store seems to be growing and they have some nice stuff to buy for the home. Rather upscale offerings so the prices are a little higher as the furniture seems of higher quality. read more

I have come to this place for years as it is my favorite consignment store. I have purchased so many items here as I am now decorating my second I love the hunt. You never know what you may find. The staff is helpful and the items are in good condition and the store is clean. Though I live in the other side of the Tunnel, I do make a special trip to come here. The jewelry department is terrific too. I have consigned rugs, decorative items and jewelry. All sold. M friends have sold jewelry here too and they been very happy. read more
