There are bins for scrapbooking items, birthday party items, you name it. They had a cute themed Valentine's Day corner too! I wish they had a larger book selection, but they have a larger everything else :) I bought 4 long sleeve shirts for $22 which is so insane to me. One of them was Ann Taylor, and another was a cozy turtleneck. That particular row was sorted by color! My friend found a small Simple Human trash can and a ceramic coffee filter; she left more than satisfied. I loved that they greeted customers by name. I was going to gate keep this place for the prices....but it was a lovely day to stumble in on a day where pants were TWO dollars. I was able to find a nice black belt with silver hardware and low waisted gray trousers in my size. Lovely selection of bags, jewelry, trousers, and work clothes. Good amount of shoe options in nice condition, but not very many trinkets. #ineedmytrinkets There were 3 mirrors around the shop, but no fitting room or places to really sit down to see how things fit. Came to donate a few items after finally cleaning up our house! My fiancé and I had two boxes to give away and the process was easy. They take the donations in the back of the room. There was no line, it was just a quick drop off process. Afterwards, I wanted to check out the what was available in the store! The store is so neat and tidy, and organized. This store is well-organized, easy to find and has a great community connection. It's purpose is profound: help battered women and children recover from their lives that included abuse and violence. YOUR donations help this purpose. Each year our work group picks a way to help a non-profit, this year we are gathering new and gently used materials from the SG list and donating. Women's month is every March- this collection & donation is how we will celebrate! I've been donating here for the past 3 years and I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else. I lived in Livermore for 28 years until I moved to Brentwood. I'll still make the drive every other month to take my donations here because it's such a great cause and wonderful for sustainability. It's great that they still have a lot of gently used items priced so appropriately. Nowadays at goodwill, you'll see prices that are close to retail. Here, that is not the case and I feel a lot better giving them clothes with plenty of life than any other donation center. They are always friendly and helpful! It's a small store, so they may not be able to take everything if you have a lot, so plan accordingly. I had a couple things picked out today but put them back at the last minute because I felt them to be too high. $8 for donated beauty products- $28 for a basket. I came here because a friend of mine called me about a Kitchen Aide mixer she thought was on sale- it wasn't. But I was super glad I managed to check out the store- I found some kitchen things I really needed at a pretty nice price. I'm glad to support a good cause and get things I need second hand- so they do not go to a landfill. Masks are required and everyone seemed to be social distancing pretty well. It's a small place, so i would not want to be there when it is crowded. read more

I am a frequent shopper at this store as I like to support the cause. However, lately I have been keeping my distance due to the rude and discriminatory nature of the managers/supervisors. I have had nothing but negative encounters with the supervisor "Bonnie" as well as "Holly". I have also discussed this with other employees and they validated this behavior is a commonly known tendency of theirs. Whenever I frequent the shop, I spend a decent amount of money as I tend to find goodies every time and never leave empty handed. Yet every time I am there and try to ask them a question or they are the ones checking me out, they are just blatantly bias. They will not say hi, respond to my greeting, they do not even mention a word checking me out. No smiles, no welcome, very hostile attitudes...Just complete silence. I end up being the one to say thank you and have a good day! lol I asked Holly a question and she ignored me! Just turned around and acted like she didn't hear me and walked away. I know she heard me as I flagged her down and stopped her, asked her the question and she just walked away. There was also another time I asked her a question and she just stood there and stared at me. There is no language barrier here, I speak English perfectly well with no accent, etc so that cannot be the reason. The other day I was there and Bonnie was answering a question I asked to the employee instead of answering me directly as I stood right in front of her. She said "you can tell them..." ummm, hello? I am standing right here, YOU can tell me. I find it odd as I am in there frequently so I do see them interact with others and they are not like this with all customers. It appears they pick and choose who they want to be friendly and welcoming to and who they want to project their irrational hostility onto. It is a shame as my multiple weekly trips have dwindled down to maybe 1-2 a month and even that I am still being subjected to their animosity. One would think they would be more polite as they are working for a women's shelter as well as the fact that they are SUPERVISORS! They definitely are not leading by example. Also, being a very regular customer I would also think they would be more cordial to those that are regular ongoing supportive customers. I will say that the employees are great! The nicest, kindest and sweetest people and just really make the experience bearable. They are always welcoming, friendly and hospitable. These so called "supervisors" could actually learn from their employees on what customer service consists of. read more

I used to love this place and would frequently go. Unfortunately this place has gone down hill. The prices are super high and comparable to target. However today I went and was super annoyed. My daughter and I went in to find a tote for some toys and we found one that had 2 $1.99 stickers on it I thought perfect. We headed to register to be notified the prices have recently changed and that it would be $2.99 despite the sticker that was already on the item. When I asked for a manager they told me that she was not available. I assume more people are running into these issues and if enough share maybe they will correct the issues. read more

This review is for the donation service. The drop off of donations was super easy. On their website they list what they can and can't accept so I recommend reviewing that before loading up the car. There is a drop off area in back and they bring a bin out to put the donations into. The entire process was easy and quick. You can write your own receipt for tax purposes. They can limit donations when they have more than they can process that day so I recommend going earlier in the day rather than later. read more

Shephard's Gate New Life Thrift Store is a typical thrift store in the vein of Goodwill's without the furniture. book section very small. noticed paper back novels priced @1. no notice some books may be priced higher. noticed Ken Follett's novel with stickers of 3.99 and 5.99 on it. brought it to counter to ask if paperback books were $1. cashier didn't know. supervisor nearby noted the sticker price and that everything was 1/2 off today. passed on it. take outs: -have no idea who Ken Follett is noticed one novel was an Oprah pick of the month. read more

Prices are outrageous. They got a banana republic donation and all of those items are priced differently. $15 for a pair of pants. They were selling one of those gift packages from Ross with the backpack and a cardholder for $34!!!!!! I guarantee it was cheaper brand new from the store!!! Prices have jumped up ridiculously, Staff says they set prices at one half retail price....the highest online price apparently. Wanted a particular backpack but hesitated at the marked $24.99 price. Staff was kind enough to do an online search which showed new at $69.99, so I got it figuring it was an ok price. However, on checking prices at home I found it available for $39.99 on Amazon...NEW, with warranty. Used can often have hidden defects or problems. Not at all happy with that purchase. Other items, Blue Willow dinner plates @$9.99, candles at $5.99, mugs at $3.99, books @ 3.99 - $8.99, purses $10.99 and way higher.....definately overpriced. Goodwill has reduced their prices so they are now lower than this store. TriValley Haven on L. St. Is even better. That is where I donate and shop now. read more

The only reason I can't give the full five stars is because it's much smaller than it could potentially be. The wall to the shopping area is up at about half the length of the store. The Goodwill right next store is the same square footage, but double the shopping area size of Shepard's Gate. The wall they've put up severely limits the amount of stuff they can have for sale. And it shows, pretty limited inventory. But, of what they do have it's good stuff. Lots of the jeans still had tags. And in general, lightly worn clothing. The employees are very nice and helpful. And hey, it's for a good cause. Pretty cool thrift store overall. read more

I love the Shepherd's Gate thrift shop. The store isn't huge but has a lot in it without feeling crowded or jumbled. The quality of items is higher than Goodwill or Savers--don't get me wrong, I love those places, but they're not much into editing what they put out. If some prices are a little higher than Goodwill/Savers--and in most cases they're not!--it'll be because it's a specific higher quality item. I find the pricing very fair and there are tons of bargains to be had. Recent finds include an amazing 4'-wide seascape painting for $25 (pictured), a Dooney and Bourke Lexington tote in great condition for $28, various J Crew, Banana Republic, and similar branded clothes for under $10, new-with-tags tea towels and throw pillow covers, great cheap kitchenware (Corningware, OXO, S'well water bottles), etc. Because of their size, they don't have much furniture or other large things--try the Dublin Savers for that--but I'd say they're above average for the rest. Stock seems to change regularly and there are daily discounts that are pretty significant, like 40-50% off shoes/accessories/glassware/whatever. It's not the place to go if you need *as much and as inexpensive as humanly possible,* but otherwise, give it a browse. read more
