my existing manicure that they refuse to touch because it's "from another salon" lol
Julia G.

This salon will not perform a basic service (removing gel builder) in order to assist me w/ a fresh manicure. I explained that I received my last manicure in a different state, and cannot logistically go back there to remove it. I asked for a recommendation on how I should proceed, and they literally said that they cannot recommend any salon that woulds safely remove my existing builder lol

My absolute favorite nail salon EVER. They use non-toxic and vegan products, LOVE. Their nail care maintenance is impeccable. I've had the best results from getting manicures..my nails are stronger than ever. Not only are the services amazing, but the vibes and environment is welcoming and fun. If you are looking for something fun, try a mystery manicure!

I went to Holy Chic + Co almost two weeks ago for a manicure. I have to say this is the longest lasting manicure I have had. I am one to pick and peel as soon as there is a chip or it grows out. I have not had that urge with this manicure! When I arrived, I waited outside until it was time for my appointment. Upon entry I got my temperature checked and washed my hands. After that the staff helped me pick a nail color to match the dress I was wearing to the wedding that weekend. They were so helpful! We landed on grapevine- a deep purple with brown tones. Lotus was very sweet and easy to talk to. I am not a talker at my hair or nail appointments so it was nice to have some conversation, but it not be forced. The staff there seems like they are all family and invest in the success of each other! I will definitely be back! I think I am going to schedule another appointment today!

Overall I had a great experience at Holy Chic. Lotus did my nails and she did a phenomenal job. The only thing I was disappointed in was a miscommunication in their gratuity policy. When I checked my online recipe for my $70ish service, I noticed a gratuity of $20 had been charged to my card. When I called the manager to confront her on this she lmk that this was outlined on the website and in their store--she also lmk that she was trying to tell me this in the while I was reviving my service. However, I thought she said 20%--not 28%. I understand this policy now and will return, however I do feel that this should be outlined more clearly. Posting this review to avoid confusion with future clients!

So this place is ok. I like the idea of the organic nail stuff but the pricing even for the normal pedi is high. The first time I went to get a gel pedicure the girl asked me if my ankle hurt and I was surprised but said yes figuring she saw it was swollen or something I hadn't noticed. Then she told me she knew cause of the aura coming off my foot.... uhhhhh what??? I do think Daisy is the best tech there. Super friendly and knows what she's doing. Just not sure the pricing is consistent for what you get.

Natural, clean, and no drilling!!

Looking for a nail salon that you can relate to, you can cut up with the staff, and also walk away with amazing looking fingers & toes?! This is the place! I have gone twice and now I am hooked. My friend, Quincy, is and will make your nails go from little painful stubs like I just clawed rocks to actually looking like I belong in society. The team is welcoming, educating, and really want what is best for you. They are an open group of people that will show you a good time. Which makes getting your nails done a fun and new way in this industry. Give them a visit - call or book online, they are clean, gentle, and funny as hell! XO -Amy

Loved my experience here. From all the natural wood and the fresh smell of it, to a strong girl power vibe here. The salon is so bright and clean. The ladies here are all fun and some seem free spirited. Music was a tad loud, but it was better than other salons where it's too quite or there are TVs playing soap operas. Kenya was sweet and a delight to chat with. She's been working at their Fredericksburg location for a year and works at the Richmond location on Wednesday's. When doing mystery mani's she likes to do marble effects. This was my first time ever having a gel mani. And it's nice knowing you don't have to wait long for your nails to dry. After each coat they dry under a UV light for a minute or less. And to get the gel off, instead of soaking them in nail polish remover and wrapped in foil, they are soaked in a machine that uses steam with a little bit of nail remover and then peeled off. It's pretty cool to watch. Vanilla chai sugar scrub smelled good enough to eat! Light massage was just enough to relax but not long enough to crave more. All the nail utensils were in sealed packages and new. Which is great because they are used once and not on anyone else. No massaging chairs here either. Just cushions benches. Which did take away from the experience because I was tensed up sitting there. The foot scrub wasn't as long as I needed. I had thick/jagged calluses and just felt they needed more attention. Also noticed the gel polish wasn't all the way to the tip of my finger nail, so I have a small groove on some of my nails and that's weird. I may come here for manis next time. They offer water, coffee or tea complimentary. Soz, no alcohol served here. It was a fun experience and I look forward to coming back. Update! After 3 days my toenails chipped and one of my large toenails (that was short already) broke and had to be cut below the normal length. I use $1.99 Sinful nail polish on my toes people and when I paint my toes they stay painted for over a month until I remove the polish. The gel mani is still in good shape, but there were spots that the top coat didn't cover so some of the glitter polish is rough where it wasn't covered. Next time I'll stick with a simple gel mani here.

Holy Chic - yes please!! I'm so excited that Holy Chic + Co is now a reality in Richmond. It's so much more than a nail salon - it's literally an oasis for women like me who've, for years, felt that they were at the mercy of the, often inadequate, damaging, and mass production approach to nail care. Holy Chic is an elevated, healthy and therapeutic nail experience, and I am here for it. I found Holy Chic after having my natural nails RUINED, for the last time, at a traditional nail salon. The nail tech drilled off my gel manicure, along with the top layer of my nails, and a few days later, they are started to crack. You may be asking "why didn't you stop them?" My response is "Why haven't WE ever stopped them period?" We patronize these salons week after week, with no guarantee of consistency, satisfaction or genuine concern for the overall HEALTH of our nails. We put up with the anxiety of not having our requests understood, being told how our nails will be (mis)treated, and praying that we don't get that one nail tech who's particularly awful. We merely tolerate and experience that's supposed to make us feel better. Maybe I'm just projecting the way that I've always felt, but I'm never going back to that. Ever. I made an appointment at Holy Chic, and was honestly sad when I got there. My nails were weak, broken and a complete mess. My appointment was with Mara, and she gave it to me straight (my options). We could either cut them all down to the white meat, or try a pressed gel mani to give them some time to repair themselves and preserve my length. I opted to try the pressed gel mani and can't wait until my natural nails are back to a healthy state. Mara was nice, patient and knowledgeable, and did a fantastic job. I prefer a thin, sleek, natural nail, so it's been a little tough getting used to the press ons, but I know that it's only temporary. My one and ONLY suggestion is that they reconsider charging $2 per nail for glitter sprinkles. It's not really nail art, and $20 extra for a little sparkle is a little...EXTRA lol. Otherwise, I'm team Holy Chic until never. Welcome to RVA ladies, and Mara, I will see you in two weeks!

Pretty nice! I'd say 3.5 stars! I had Kenya and she definitely did a great job cleaning up my nails and generally making them feel nice and neat. It was definitely a quiet vibe when I was there which surprised me. I went early in the AM so maybe that's why? Not much convo with my nail tech but that wasn't a deal breaker or anything for me :) I liked what she did design wise - I did the mystery mani! The receptionist is super friendly! . I'm a bit bummed because one nail has already chipped like 24 hours later :// at other salons my nails last for weeks with no chips. I definitely use my hands but it's not like I work construction so not sure what happened there. It's tiny right now, but I have a feeling it'll chip more. Typically I'd go back and make them fix it but I feel weird making them do it for the tiny chip even though it's bothering me already :|. i really expect my nails to last if I pay more than 40$! At least for a few days. whether I go back in 2 weeks for another mani or cancel and go elsewhere depends on how much more it chips or not I think! ---------------- UPDATE - to 5 stars because their receptionist actually went out of her way to call me (I missed the call but ended up calling back later) and offered for them to fix it! A lot of salons don't usually go out of their way to get in touch like that! I'm going to get it fixed today. I'm sure I'll be back!

This is by far my favorite salon in Richmond (and believe me, I've tried A LOT)!! HC is all about nail health, non-toxic products, self-love, and ensuring that you have a great experience. Shey and Quincy are my go-to techs but you could go to any one here and still be pleased with the results! My gel manis typically last at least two weeks, if not longer. I use their in-house cuticle oil daily which helps strengthen and maintain my nails. On the off chance that I've slammed my finger during a workout or trying to fix a door jam, the HC team will fix a broken or chipped nail for you within a generous time frame of 4 days from your original appointment. Making an appointment is fairly simple on their website, just make sure you select the Richmond shop because the website tends to default to their Fredericksburg location. I always walk in feeling so welcomed! Everyone here has such great personalities that can really cater to whichever type of experience you want. Are you a quiet customer who likes to unwind in silence? They've got 'em. You want a pop culture guru who'll make you laugh like a hyena? They got those, too! I've recommended so many friends because they're constantly asking me about my nails.

I occasionally enjoy a good pedicure, as I do a master barber straight edge head shave, even though I'm bald, and usually shave myself. Mostly because I'm obsessive about keeping my foot-claws trimmed and clean. (Part of me hopes the rest of humanity felt the same way, but I digress). When I cut my own, I cut them short enough to feel pain for days, and have been known to mistake a sharp nail edge for just that, and ripped out a hangnail or entire pinky toe nail right off. The bleeding takes forever to stop. Again, ain't nobody got time for that. This spotless clean business, (including impeccable restrooms), does things right. My overall experience was disappointing and hurtful. I genuinely cared about the salon and took pride in my work. Beyond providing nail services, I helped keep the space clean, organized, and welcoming. I connected with my clients and always did my best to provide a positive experience. My biggest concern was compensation. Technicians earned 40% commission plus tips, with no hourly pay while waiting for clients. Walk-in traffic was inconsistent, and more time at the salon did not guarantee more income. My largest paycheck was approximately $401 during the busier summer months. Over time, I felt my effort was not matched by the support, appreciation, or professional development I needed. I believe salon owners should foster an environment where technicians feel supported, expectations are realistic, and concerns can be discussed professionally. I genuinely tried to make this opportunity work, but eventually reached a point where I totally dreaded going to the salon.I also witnessed concerns involving extended client wait times, smoke breaks while clients were waiting or being serviced, and salon issues arising when the owner was not on-site. I submitted my resignation on October 14, intending to honor my notice period and say goodbye to my clients. Instead, my appointments were reassigned, and my time at the salon ended sooner than planned. When I communicated that I had collected my belongings and the other nail tech that also resigned left the key, the owner's response included profanity and name-calling. I found this unprofessional and unnecessary and unwarranted. I'm sharing my firsthand experience not to be malicious or attack anyone but because fair compensation, professional management, respect, appreciation and accountability matter. You can't just treat people any kind of way, especially the people who worked in your salon and gave their best. I'm grateful for the clients I've served. My pedicure service began at about 5:25 p.m. and it was over by 5:45 p.m. I've never in my decades of pedicures gotten a 20 minute pedicure. They're usually 45-60 minutes! After my pedicure was finished, she started working on another client (taking her sweet time)... and didn't come back to me for a full 50 minutes to look at my nails. She said it was 30 minutes. I corrected her. It was another 10 (a full hour) before she actually started working on my dip. Take your time with my nails and do a good job! She cut my nails way too short. She did next to nothing with my cuticles. And my final result shows ridges and file marks in my nails! She said she could fix it and asked me to come back tomorrow. WHAT?! You want me to waste MORE of my time so you can do what you should've done the first time? Hell to the no! She also told me my toes were dry, so I could put my socks and shoes on. WHAT?! Even I know how long toes take to dry and that socks basically for the rest of the day are a no no!
