So I have eaten here a couple of times. The salads are wonderful, anything else seems good, just not spectacular. It's a nice place for a burger and brew or a salad. So Saturday night we are starving after watching a lot of cooking shows on PBS. We decided a burger will really hit the spot and off we head to Holts. There is a wait.. 20-30 minutes. We can wait that long since it's only 6. About 15 minutes in there is a power outage. We thought luckily the power came back on with in 5 minutes that it would not terribly impact the business. We thought wrong. After 30 minutes I look up to see the girls who we waiting with (and who have been seated) storm out. Several more people come in and are told "several people are waiting for their checks the wait will be 5 minutes" At this point we have waited long enough that it seems futile to leave and start again somewhere else. After another 5 minutes during which no one has left and no one has been seated, we ask again "how long" we are told it will be another 30 minutes wait time. Seems the computer is down and they can't process a check or put in an order to the kitchen. We stood there and watched the computer reboot and it looked fine. Who runs a restaurant this way? The hostesses never communicated that there was any problem to anyone waiting. You turn away tons of business at 7 pm on Saturday. We went over Houlihans and met several people who had also fled Holts. We did get fed and it will be a long time, if ever I ever return. Thought about getting a beet salad to go this morning (the following Sunday) and thought no they don't deserve my business. read more

Good food, nice ambiance but kind of loud. Go later in the evening though - it's a family friendly, parents let their kids run lose. Very annoying! Also had to ask for a waitress after 10 min of being seated. When our waitress finally arrived she didn't seem to eager to wait on us. read more

Holts has great food quality, great service, and a solid offering of local craft brews... What more could you ask for?!

The food is solid, I won't deny that. The burger is one of the best I've ever had, and the taco pizza is great. Unfortunately I just had a horrible experience with the customer service. I made a reservation for 6:30 because I knew the place would be packed on a Friday night. We showed up at 6:40, and the classless hostess (who was smacking her gum with her mouth wide open) said "you are 10 minutes late we gave your table away". We explained that we were late because our friends got into a car accident on the way to pick us up. In a condescending tone she just said "it doesn't matter, you were late" and then pretended we weren't there. I've been to Holt's A LOT. Never again. Or at least until I don't see that hostess again. read more

Great spot and exactly what Park Ridge needed! Our server was very attentive and kind. The pizza was great! We tried the goat cheese/grape pizza and created our own supreme style. The owner came out and chatted with us for a bit. You can tell he is very passionate about Holts being a positive and enjoyable dining experience for the locals. Only complaint was I thought my wine serving was a little low, but that's no reason to lower the rating... Next time I should just ask for more :) definitely going back to Holts and recommending it to friends/family read more

We love Holt's! We love the pizza, and I have also enjoyed the Chicken Chopped Salad and the Meatball Salad too. Great apps like cheese curds and calamari too. This is such a cute bar that is perfect for Park Ridge. read more

Always understaffed. It really detracts from the food. We've had the same waitress each visit and either she's clueless and completely at fault for the awful, inattentive service or management does a bad job making sure there's enough staff to ensure a good experience. What a shame because the food is pretty good! read more

I really need to come here more often. Stopped in to Holt's today on my way home, the beautiful, friendly hostess Erin was still there to greet me. Luckily,I found a seat at the end of the bar and to my delight, Laura, my favorite bartender, was behind the bar. how refreshing to see someone with a smiling face and a caring attitude. The best, she remembered me, and remembered what I drank. I was so impressed. She also told me about the new drink specials they have for the summer, in case I wanted to try something different. I then ordered one of my favorite pizza's, grape and goat cheese, the best! I really enjoy Holt's and plan to make it a regular stop this summer. You should too. read more

1st time there. Gets extremely busy around 8:30, but we were never rushed to leave. Service was amazing, our waitress came by to make sure we didn't need anything. Food is limited but I hade the sliders and they were amazing. My husband had the beef sandwich pizza which he loved but wondered why there was no red sauce on it. They need to fix the 2nd stall in the woman's bathroom because it took forever to go because of only 1 stall (no biggie sh@t happens, lol). Plus the people from the Oktoberfest were coming in to use the facilities so that is why it took much longer. Trying to get out was a nightmare because it was loud and crowded by the bar area and no one heard me say excuse me to move, so I had to gently push some people, which I don't think they liked to much. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I went to pay and the bill came to $51.49, I paid will a $100 bill and the waitress came back with $48.00 dollars back ($13 of it in singles). I know it's only $. 51 cents but it kind of perturbed me she didn't give it back. I did tip the %20 regardless, but would have given her an extra $2, because she was great. But after that decided on only the 20% plus the $. 51 she forgot to give us. It was busy and she was running around crazy, so I let it slide where the tip was concerned. Came with friends, appetizers and pizza were both great. Drink menu is a little overly fancy and they don't have normal booze such as Captain, Beam or Makers. Specialty cocktails were OK but overpriced. Great beer selection. Definitely will order the pizza again it is awesome. Service was slow but friendly and good recommendations. read more

Was very happy with my first visit to Holt's. You can tell they are still working the kinks out with just opening but everything went very well with our server, food and drinks. Nothing to complain about at Holt's. The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere very comfortable. Sister and I went for lunch today. Salads are delicious and fresh, not overly dressed. Highly recommend the Kale salad. Great selections of beer on tap. On the last visit based on word of mouth and yelp reviewers had the salmon BLT and Burger for the husband. Both EXCELLENT. I have gone there three times: Pro's- Salmon BLT, Calamari, Grape and Goat Cheese Pizza, Salads, Desserts are all very, very good. Con's- Pricey. On a couple of occasions the wait staff has been snooty or non-existent. The owner is a bit arrogant, should be friendlier considering success of the restaurant business is all word of mouth. The Limited menu is ok but menu itself is cheap looking and not esthetically pleasing. read more

Have eaten here a couple times since opening and it is nicely packaged -- TV for the sports lovers, nicely curated menu, good pizza, good location. I will certainly be there again. Had lunch there a few weeks ago. Food good, but slow in coming. Was gone a little too long for lunch by no fault of my own other than picking this place. Wasn't crowded, not sure if kitchen was backed-up. If you are within walking distance for work day lunch, I would recommend (If you have at least an hour). Maybe it was just a fluke that food took so long..grilled cheese and burgers should be pretty quick...Great craft selection if it's a "drinking" lunch. read more

I grabbed dinner here on a Friday night with a friend and we weren't extremely impressed. The ambiance is pretty nice, but the food didn't have much taste. I ordered the steak sandwich and my friend got the pepper and egg sandwich, both of which were pretty bland in flavor. I also ordered a cocktail from their "winter drink menu" which features drinks named after Game of Thrones characters (honestly the main reason I wanted to come here). The Daenerys Targaryen drink tasted okay and was pretty strong but it was small, so not entirely worth the $11 in my opinion. Also, my friend ordered a mojito and when it came out it just tasted like club soda and lime so we had them make us a new one which might have had a little bit of rum in it but we couldn't really tell. read more

Our experience was off to a rough start when we were sat at a dirty table and when the waitress for some reason couldn't serve my 21 year old son a beer because his id was vertical or some bull? She asked my son for a second piece of id as well? Odd place we thought but we went ahead and ordered as some busboy came to finally pick up the dirty dishes to our side. Then, about 15 minutes into waiting they seat another couple...at our table.... during the Corona virus pandemic..... they were maybe 3 feet from us but we'd already ordered and didn't want to leave. We ordered some salmon sandwiches, a grilled cheese, a fried chicken sandwich and a burger, no crazy order,just 5 meals for 5 people, and we had to wait more then an hour for our food to arrive. Also imagine my suprise when the couple who came in 15 minutes after us and got sat at our table got their entrees first. Overall the food was mediocre as well after taking so long to get out and the bill was a bit pricey for such subpar service. This was our second time here and after a pleasant first time and dissapointing second time we probably won't be ever returning with service like that. This is a low end restaurant trying to be middle class but don't be fooled. read more

This place is awesome. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere, and a much needed attraction for the uptown park ridge area. Me being from edison park knowing the area very well. If you want to have a good time holts is the place. Only thing i feel could use improvement is the size of the food menu. But im sure it will come in due time since this place just opened two weeks ago. read more

The pizza is the best in town and so is the beer list. Basically everything on the menu is perfect, with a large exception given for the cheese fries. Guys...please use something better than cheese wiz for that, it's disgusting. Otherwise keep up the good work! read more

This is a nice place, decent decor, friendly service and pretty good food but it misses in a number of small areas. The menu is tiny - almost as small as the wine glasses, I've seen bigger shot glasses. I'm exaggerating a little but not by much. Way too small of variety in their menu - it's a pizza or a burger or a salad - that's about it. I could have given them 4 stars for the quality food, friendly service, etc...but there are better 4 star places that serve regular size glasses of wine. read more

This is one of my favorite go to neighborhood spots!! They have an extensive gluten free menu and the staff is super friendly! I had my 30th birthday party here with 30 plus people. The staff worked with us to plan enough food and checked in frequently! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! We celebrated a birthday on a Friday recently and everyone loved it. We ordered many things off the menu to share. The kale salad, burratta, calamari, taco and mashed potato and chive pizzas, and fried cheese curds -all the food was excellent. The waiter gave our party 2 complimentary desserts (olive oil cake and passion fruit panne cotta). The panne cotta was incredible!! We live in the area and this is the best place around right now. Keep up the good work! My only suggestion would be to have more waiters during busy times so they could be more attentive. Our waiter was very nice but extremely busy and could not check in with us as often as we needed him to. read more

Waitress was so rude! I asked her if they had the yellow sugar and she told me with attitude thats what they had! then it took her at least 30 to take are order still having a poor attitude. At the end of the meal we asked to talk to the manager. After we talk to him she comes back with more attitude and trying to defend herself ( don't know what manager would let her come back and talk to customers the way she did. it was just so rude!!) for no reason the CUSTOMER is ALWAY RIGHT. it was a horrible experience and will never be back there and neither will the family that was with us. this is one place we will tell friends not to go to. read more

Wanted to try this place even though I heard from friends it was sub par, i.e. mistakes on food and food being just ok. One friend told me I had to try it so I decided to take my girlfriend there for brunch. I looked online and saw they opened at 10am on Saturday. We arrived around 9:57am, I know this because I said to my girlfriend should we wait in the car for 3 mins or should we go wait inside? Decided to walk up to the place. Looked nice from the outside. I opened the door, which had to be at 9:58am, and the door was open. Walked in and was rudely greeted by an older blonde woman with glasses who said in a rude manner "You'll have to wait 10 more mins... we open at 10." I looked at my phone to see the time and then she looked at the clock and said "I'm sorry.... 5 minutes". Now I wasn't expecting to be seated before they opened, nor did I ask. You would think if they were so adamant about their guests arriving exactly at 10am, they would keep their doors locked. And if not, maybe greet us with something along the lines like "hey guys, be with you in 1 minute" or something like that. Didn't even a "Good morning". No, instead I get some rude lady who made me feel bad for walking in the place. She could've been nicer about it. Not the end of the world but kind of tainted the experience . Thank god she wasn't our server. Our server was nice and very kind. If I go back to Park Ridge to eat I might go somewhere else before I go back to Holts. read more

Stopped in for lunch today. The food was decent but the service was so so so slow. First the diet cokes took 20 mins and 30 mins to take our order. The food (a burger and a sandwich) then took over 30 mins to come out. My husbands burger was over cooked. Would have been happy to share that information but no one ever asked how our meal was or checked in on us. I know there are issues to work out with new places but not one person in the place even acknowledged the slow service. I was really looking forward to this place. read more

Terrible dining experience. We waited an hour+ for a lunch table because the host gave our table away. Waited a LONG time for our waitress to appear. She got much of the food order wrong and gave all of us the wrong plates. Everything was cold except my burger, which was delicious. Hot only because she ordered the wrong item for me and had to have the chef hurry and make another for me. To his credit, the host bought us drinks and apologized. They need more staff and more training, etc. Maybe I'll try again in a year. read more

Consistently busy place so I keep giving it another chance. But I will not take another chance at ordering the kale and Brussels sprout salad with grilled salmon to go ever again. First time I got home- the salmon was completely raw inside. I called. No offer to fix it etc.. Tonight, after mentioning the last time it was raw- got it home -it was horribly over cooked, smelled bad and was inedible!! Called, nicely reported that it was inedible. The hostess said- we are training new people. Never again. Eating in the restaurant is decent. The service is somewhat slow but at least the food is edible. read more

Visited this new restaurant in Park Ridge last week and it was wonderful. It was very busy but that is probably because it just opened and Park Ridge has been in serious need of something other than a sushi place. We had a great dinner at Holt's on 9/4/17. The meatball and ricotta cheese appetizer was amazing! Cheese was whipped and fluffy. My husband loves their specialty goat cheese and grapes pizza. And I had the fish taco appetizer for an entree. It was generous and very fresh. Great grilled fish. Perfect way to finish the Labor Day weekend. read more

Been here multiple times now, from the first week it opened. Many dinners with the family and a couple nights with friends watching a game at the bar. We've always enjoyed it, but it has never been better than in the last month or so. They do a great job and there's always a nice crowd. Owner is always walking around checking on his customers.
