Wanted to try this place even though I heard from friends it was sub par, i.e. mistakes on food and food being just ok. One friend told me I had to try it so I decided to take my girlfriend there for brunch. I looked online and saw they opened at 10am on Saturday. We arrived around 9:57am, I know this because I said to my girlfriend should we wait in the car for 3 mins or should we go wait inside? Decided to walk up to the place. Looked nice from the outside. I opened the door, which had to be at 9:58am, and the door was open. Walked in and was rudely greeted by an older blonde woman with glasses who said in a rude manner "You'll have to wait 10 more mins... we open at 10." I looked at my phone to see the time and then she looked at the clock and said "I'm sorry.... 5 minutes". Now I wasn't expecting to be seated before they opened, nor did I ask. You would think if they were so adamant about their guests arriving exactly at 10am, they would keep their doors locked. And if not, maybe greet us with something along the lines like "hey guys, be with you in 1 minute" or something like that. Didn't even a "Good morning". No, instead I get some rude lady who made me feel bad for walking in the place. She could've been nicer about it. Not the end of the world but kind of tainted the experience . Thank god she wasn't our server. Our server was nice and very kind. If I go back to Park Ridge to eat I might go somewhere else before I go back to Holts. read more

Cute place in downtown Park Ridge. Nice ambience. Good service. Reasonably priced. And great food! Came here for weekend brunch and got the pancakes. They were amazing! This sounds silly, but they might have been the best pancakes I've ever had. read more

Went to Holt's last night. Love the open windows. The design was great, I felt like I was in the city. Very busy. The girl who waited on us was great. Waited about 15 minutes for our food. I ordered a $10 glass of wine and the chopped salad. The glass had about an inch of wine in it? The chopped salad was ok. Nothing special, not a lot of taste and definitely not a lot of salad dressing. Another person in our party also ordered the salad and asked me what I thought. She had the same opinion. I understand they're new and running a restaurant is not easy. What really turned me off was the owner. He came by our table, didn't ask if everything was ok, just picked up a few dishes, no smile, no nothing. I've lived in Park a Ridge for 40 years and am happy to have a new restaurant, so I asked him if he was the owner, he said yes. I tried to start a conversation with him. Let's just say my mediocre salad and tiny bit of wine might have tasted better if the owner had been a little nicer. What a dud. I hope the food and the owner improve with time. I would love to update my review with more stars. I'll try the pizza next time and hope for a better experience. I really want to like this place. read more

The place is very cute inside, but loud. It was very hard to converse due to the noise. We had the cheese curds, which were delicious, then their pizza which was pretty tasteless. The service was as slow as described in other reviews, although when the server did show up she was very nice. I ordered a root beer and was given a bottle of root beer, no glass or straw and when I asked for a glass with ice it took forever to get it. There were three of us and none of us liked the pizza. We took the leftover pizza home, figuring our son would eat it as he has a big appetite, but he took one bite and threw it out. I have no desire to go back, which is disappointing because I wanted to like it. read more

Let me start this by saying we came in 1 hour before closing and got an annoyed look by the male that sat us. We were completely turned off by this place. We were a table of four and someone initially spilled their drink when they sat down ( as the server set it on the edge) and we were charged for 2 of the same drink. Fine. Then the meal came and was mediocre at best. We each got 1 drink, a pizza, a grilled cheese, and an appetizer... The bill came...$100 absolutely ridiculous for the food quality. We will not be going back which is very unfortunate because our hopes were very high for this place. read more

It took between 5-10 minutes before we even got water, let alone another probably 5 min before the server came over. Half the restaurant was empty, so it shouldn't have taken that long. I've worked as a server for many years, so I know things can get busy. I got the chopped salad, but there was absolutely no gorgonzola in the salad, it was bland and the pasta they add in lacked flavor as well, so it made the salad worse. Our server came over once, which was to take our order. The other times it was someone else taking our plates, & filling our water. Another server saw us just sitting waiting for our bill, so she went to get it for us. It was disappointing considering 2 bland salads and bruschetta was $44. I will have to say the atmosphere is cool and in a convenient location. read more

Consistently busy place so I keep giving it another chance. But I will not take another chance at ordering the kale and Brussels sprout salad with grilled salmon to go ever again. First time I got home- the salmon was completely raw inside. I called. No offer to fix it etc.. Tonight, after mentioning the last time it was raw- got it home -it was horribly over cooked, smelled bad and was inedible!! Called, nicely reported that it was inedible. The hostess said- we are training new people. Never again. Eating in the restaurant is decent. The service is somewhat slow but at least the food is edible. read more

So happy to have a fun spot in Park Ridge. Holts is a great spot to bring your family or meet up with some friends for a cocktail. Their patio is a great addition to the windows that open along the street. Some of our favorites - Bloody Mary's for brunch, taco pizza & mashed potato pizza and the beet salad for lunch or dinner. The kids meals are affordable too! read more

We had a great dinner at Holt's on 9/4/17. The meatball and ricotta cheese appetizer was amazing! Cheese was whipped and fluffy. My husband loves their specialty goat cheese and grapes pizza. And I had the fish taco appetizer for an entree. It was generous and very fresh. Great grilled fish. Perfect way to finish the Labor Day weekend. read more

Stopped in for a drink and was treated to some of the worst service I have experienced. 2 stars because we did not try the food.

Came here twice, solid pizza, beer selection, and service. Unfortunately, there were tons of flies both times I went. I understand they have a patio, but it's unacceptable. read more

Good place. Agree with the amount of wine served- laughably low. Hopefully service will get better with a little more time. Great grape pizza and wings! read more

We finally got a weekday reservation after being turned down a few days earlier on the weekends because there were no available reservations and that we could wait 2 hours to get in previously. As far as the food the burgers were very good to excellent, the pizza was good but nothing special after hearing all the hype but still ok; kind of oily and seemed to have a blend of different cheeses, slightly burnt and blackened as well, but they did offer some unique pizza combination toppings like grapes ; mashed potatoes and bacon . The waitress we had was not very good, she was not rude , just a bad inattentive waitress that had to be constantly reminded of things. I'm not sure why these new establishments hire inexperienced waitresses ,they should train them before letting them work. 1 star for the inattentive waitress who offered no dessert options except said "does anyone want a cookie"? ( so we never got to hear about the pudding) . Took 15 minutes to get one drink after reminding her. If we had an experienced waitress it would have been a much better time. Really loud ambiance. 3 stars for the Hamburgers that were a good choice. 2 stars for the burnt pizzas . This can be a 4 or 5 star place with some tweeks. Based on the hamburger 4 stars, add in burnt oily pizza and inattentive waitress 2 stars, but overall can be 4 with some work. We will try it again when we drive into the city and review it again. read more

Great place, great menu, great service! There was a little hiccup with our pizza order, but the waiter was honest about the mixup before the pizza was even delivered to our table and ordered us a complimentary round of drinks while we waited for the right pizza to be made. The pizza was delicious and reminded us of Piece Pizza in Wicker Park. We will definitely be back next time we are in Park Ridge! read more

Went for brunch and was disappointed..my meal and my sister's were less than average.

Handy location right across from the station. Great food: excellent cheese curds came out fast, and burger came with lots of fries. Friendly and efficient service. Eclectic and lively atmosphere, but more than a little noisy. read more

This is a great bar in PR. Always a good local beer list on tap & fabulous pizza, fries, salads, brunch, etc. As former city people - we feel like Holt is a city place in the burbs. Also, very family friendly and free shuffle board! read more

Gr8!!!!!! Visited with my friends who moved to Evanston this week. Amazing food and atmosphere...ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup with side salad--all gr8. Our friends Cori & Trevor ordered a large pizza with leftovers for lunch tomorrow, and Cata ordered the Chopped Salad. All satisfied 10/10 recommend. read more

Very limited but interesting menu food wise. Extensive beer menu. However we felt like our presence was a burden. Very modest serving staff (at best). Way too noisy! Can't carry on a conversation without yelling. Was ok until third error with order. Excuse is that waitress very new ( from manager). Gordon Ramsey please help! read more

I visit Park Ridge a few times a year and am pretty familiar with the Uptown options. Holt's is a great addition, in my book. The fish tacos, burgers, calamari, mac and cheese and panna cotta for dessert all got raves from our crew. There's a mix of high tops and booths, Sports on the tube with the sound low or off and a nice full bar---something for everyone. Stop in! read more

I have been here a few times and the food has been pretty good. However, I had brunch today and ordered the chicken and waffle which is pretty standard, but I found the batter to be undercooked and weird tasting (almost rancid). I hate sending things back but in this case I had no choice. The waitress was very apologetic and told me that they will make me a new one. But 2 waffles took over 20 min to make which by this time my wife finished her meal and only having had a piece of fried chicken I barely had a meal. They only took 10% off the entree not the bill -($1.30) which I appreciated but it felt like it didn't make up for the poor quality of the meal and the fact that the only edible part was a small piece of fried chicken -I barely had a meal at all. Very disappointing experience in terms of the food. Probably won't be back. Should have talked to the manager but didn't want to waste anymore of my Sunday at this place. Won't be recommending this place to anyone anytime soon. read more

Holts the the best place to eat and drink in Park Ridge. Very welcoming from the owner to the bus staff. It's a must.

Really love the calamari some of the best I've ever had; complete w a mini bottle of Tabasco sauce. The taco pizza is delicious. The draft beer by alarmist brewing company is great. Very reasonable kids menu as well. The shuffleboard in the back is a great distraction for the kids read more

Great place!! Park Ridge needed a place like this!! Food was great, recommend the Taco Pizza..

The pizza here is perfect. The taco and the grape are so good. The drink list is incredibly unique. Holts is such a great combination of atmosphere, food and location. Looking forward to spending a lot of time here. Also- must try the cheese curds! If you find yourself having to wait for a table, it's best to relax and have a nice cocktail. Enjoy. read more

Most recent visit: Calamari, chicken wings, cheese curds, all outstanding and very large portions. The wings themselves were also very large with plenty of drumsticks. Beet salad was good but didn't have enough dressing, but after adding more dressing it was great. Have also had pizza and burgers, also great. read more

My friends and I decided to try something new in the area so we went to Holt's. After we were seated our waitress greeted us and then disappeared for 40 minutes. Nowhere to be found. Who greets a table then disappears for that long? She finally came to our table and awkwardly took our orders. I got the tomato soup which came out cold. The cheeseburger was really good. I agree with other reviewers that the food was in fact good, but the service was absolutely terrible. Won't be returning. read more

We go here all the time and the kid's love it! My eight year old actually picked it as his night out because his brother was out of town on a class trip in NYC. When we got there it was kind of empty so we asked to get the game pieces for the shuffle board from the hostess. We know the drill about watching your kids and being there with them and giving a drivers license as a deposit for the set of pieces but when the hostess returned from the back she gave us some story about a large party coming in and the table not be able to be used...which she obviously got from the teeny manager/owner that was roaming around and was to scared to confront us with a "no" and left it to the sixteen year old hostess. Long story short...no large party ever came for the entire hour and a half we were there and my eight year old got to learn a lesson about being lied to. He even saw through there deception??? Very disappointing! read more

Although this restaurant is inviting and well designed the food was as greasy as everyone before me wrote in their reviews. I had the vegetable sandwich which sounds healthy so I also ordered the fries; the vegies were dripping in oil and the fries were soggy and not crisp. I will not be returning to this restaurant again. read more

We love love love Holts! The service is tremendous, the food is so tasty and the ambiance is just what Park Ridge needed! All of their pizza options are to die for- the taco (unlike any other taco) and goat cheese/ grape is my favorite. Great drink selections and the perfect spot for date night or drinks with the girls. Love this place. Food is amazing from the salads to the pizzas to the desserts. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the food is all homemade. The beer list is also top notch. First walking into the restaurant it had a comfy feel. The menu was pizza and comfort food, however no pizza was available. We got the Salmon Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich (fancy BLT) and the House Burger. The Salmon was good and the burger was okay. I don't get why they would have the house burger a simple burger with canned mushrooms and cheese. The best part of it is that it is served on a pretzel bun. We went in on Sunday around 2p.m. When we asked for soup, waitress said, "We just finished brunch, the soup is not ready yet." That makes no sense. Don't give out lunch menus or have what is on it! We couldn't order pizza either. I don't know how they struggle with a simple transition. Kids menu is basic like most restaurants, but when they don't have pizza it cuts it in half. The grilled cheese came out with fries and "tomato soup" instead of vegetables and ranch dressing like the menu said. Since we were told there was no soup I was curious to what was on her plate. It tasted like marinara mixed with milk. They had a great local beer selection, however the menu said "rotating handle" for all the beers but two. I am glad they are doing this, but it's a paper laminated menu, is it hard to remake? I only ask this because there was a big chalkboard on the wall by the bar that said "Draft Beers." Under it was blank. Do you not have chalk? Do you not have 2 minutes to update your board? There were many of these little things I could go on and on about, however our entire experience felt as there was no effort put into anything there. read more

I ate here with my family during the week. Overall it was very good. The menu is limited but every option is quality. We started with the cheese curds, which had been recommended by other reviewers and we agreed they were delicious! Loved the dips that came with! My husband and daughter had the burger and loved them. My youngest had a cheese pizza from the kids menu and finished the whole thing, which is rare for him. My oldest son had the sliders off the kids menu. I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The soup was a bit thicker than I would like but the flavor was excellent and the sandwich was a good size. Service was a little slow for a weeknight but very friendly. It wasn't nice enough to eat outside so we'll be back as the weather warms up. read more
