I have never seen such calm and focused multitasking skills. Mimi has over 30 years of experience, and it shows. While meticulously painting the "ballerina slipper" white across the tips of my nails, she's answering phones, greeting customers, and being an attentive mother. Sunshine is not a hoity-toity spa where the polish is organic, the wallpaper is made of hemp. Sunshine is a family-owned business and family, is the heart of their business. I'm only writing this after calling and messaging the salon and being refused a partial refund. I came in while visiting for a conference and booked a pedicure, manicure, and wax. The good: the vibe was relaxing, the mimosa was great, and my pedicure was decent, though it ran long and I had to ask for a heated pillow. The manicure was disappointing. My cuticles weren't touched. My tech brought the color I'd picked for my toes, even though I told him at least three times I wanted something different. He applied six or so layers of gel that went onto my skin and never cleaned it up. Other staff kept coming over as if reminding him what to do. When it was time for the sink, he pointed and raised his voice instead of showing me where it was. Within three days, five nails had lost their polish completely. During the pedicure I asked about a lip and brow wax, and at checkout they suggested a full face wax instead. I've had my face waxed many times with different methods, so I agreed. The technician used a lot of wax and pressed very hard. Outside waiting for my Uber, my face was burning. When I looked, my chin, cheek, and neck were raw and torn. The whole visit took 2 hours and 45 minutes and cost about $250. At checkout, I was asked to leave a 5-star review in exchange for something, which I declined. I messaged the salon on Facebook with photos (no email is listed) and later sent updated photos of my nails and cuticles. They offered to redo the manicure, but I live in Michigan. I asked for $150 back to cover the face wax, manicure, and tip, not a full refund. They offered a salon credit instead, asked if I had family in the area, and then said there was nothing more they would do. I'm posting an honest review and disputing the charge with my bank.

Yet when the service was finished, they acted as if those conversations never happened and charged us anyway. That's not how loyal customers should be treated. Maya and the management showed no accountability, no appreciation for long-term customers, and no integrity in how they handled the situation. Instead of standing behind their work, they chose to nickel-and-dime a loyal client after repeatedly fixing issues they created. Save yourself the frustration, wasted time, and money. There are plenty of nail salons that value their customers and stand behind their services. Do yourself and your nails a favor and run from this place.
