0 Stars: My husband wanted to surprise me with a clean cut after my trip from Chicago. Unfortunately the lady who cut his hair did a HORRIBLE job. He requested a fade and to clean up the top, he came home with his sides completely shaved off and it looked like a sloppy bowl cut with uneven lining for $30 too! We took the beard trimmer to his head and it looks so much better, and I'm by no means a licensed cosmetologist lol Perhaps they are good at women's cuts, definitely not ethnic mens'. I purchased a Groupon here and so far my Groupon haircut experiences have been "meh" at most. (somehow I previously thought that all good haircuts only involved many dollar signs and a trek to Cherry Creek) Not only is this place great, it's so close to my house that I contemplated riding my bike. Ashley greeted me even before she was ready to sit me down. She was personable and friendly. Chatty, but not overly chatty. She really listened to what I wanted and worked with me to tweak it until it was just right. I absolutely LOVE my new haircut. Unlike a lot of salons, this place is not pushy on product either. She used a product on my hair but I was the one who said I'd like to buy some when she rang me up. All the gals seem to genuinely like being there and it shows. I've been going to this salon for a couple years now. When my previous salon closed for business, I took to yelp to help find a new one. I've been quite satisfied with the job these ladies have done for me. I don't get my hair cut or colored very often so I don't go to a specific stylist. This past visit, I had Vanessa cut my hair. I told her that I wanted a trim but not too short as I've been traumatized in the past; however she did recommend a tad shorter than I wanted cut because my ends were so badly frayed and had a lot of split ends. I'm glad I listened to her because my hair looks a lot healthier and she even framed it to my face to give my hair some shape. Also, I'm sometimes socially awkward lol, so Vanessa made it very easy to converse with her. They take appointments or walk-ins. I bought a groupon for a cut and color and had Liz do my hair. The salon is nicely decorated-- I really like the chic wallpaper. Liz was excellent. I showed her a pic of what I wanted done with my hair and she hit it right on the mark. She was patient with my long hair and didn't try to rush me at all. The products used here are high end and I loved how my hair looked and felt at the end of my appointment. They also have some products for sale. The only reason I took a star off is because the groupon advertised that you could have a glass of wine while getting your hair done, but they were out of wine when I went in. This place is so frustrating! Back when I used to get regular cuts because I kept my hair short, this was my go-to place! Now that I've let my mop grow long, I've called twice in the last several months looking to book a same-day appointment for a trim. I've now been told twice that there's no availability when I call, nor offered an alternative or appointment in a reasonable amount of time. In and out in 30 minutes $20. Granted that there was no hair wash and a quick blow dry. Nothing to brag about. I went in for an inch trim and don't actually love how it was done; it looks like I cut it myself. Just very unskilled cut. There were a lot of flyaways after the cut that were not there before which was really upsetting. My hair was all split ends within two weeks which makes me question the quality of scissors. I'm really upset because y hair was destroyed by a haircut and I didn't even know that was possible. I'm going to have to get my hair all cut off pretty short to get it fixed, but I've been growing it out for my wedding. Which means have horrible haircut or short hair for my big day. read more

Went here for the first time last week and had Rachael cut my hair. She gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. I wanted a bob but my hair is super dry, damaged and wavy. I'll keep it short. I found them through Groupon and have went a couple times, never with stellar results but it is close and easy enough to get an appointment. The girls are really nice, funny, and friendly. But EVERYTIME I have had to wait. The last straw, I made an appt and in the comments section expressed my time constraints with my babysitter and that I needed to get out on time that day. I got there early and the stylist didn't show, another stylist called her and she apparently forgot she was working, blah blah, blah. One of the stylists there dyed my hair and I walked out with it still dripping wet. It was the worst hair experience I have ever had. The color looked fine but the customer service was not acceptable. I was LATE to pick up my kids, dripping wet hair, and they did nothing to remedy it. Icing on the cake- she charged me full price..... After I waited 45 minutes, to be rushed through while she was doing her normal clients. Talk about blown away. I am sure she thought she was doing me a favor too. Under normal circumstances, I would have just left but I had a wedding to attend that weekend and had to get my hair done that day while I had childcare arranged. Don't come for lashes. They looked bad, lash lady vaped the whole time, and she told me if I needed them removed she could do it for free then charged me to get them removed once that day came. Purchased a Groupon for a cut, color & condition. I was able to schedule on appointment online for the following Saturday. Read thru all of the stylists' profiles and decided to book my appointment with Nicole. She discussed my color and style preferences and explained everything she was going to do. I loved the end result - the color was great and Nicole really listened when I told her what I wanted with the cut. There are a couple of reasons I'm not giving them 5 stars: 1) I didn't like having to move out of the styling chair and into a chair in the waiting area while my color processed (it was in the sun so it was hot & I felt self-conscious sitting out in the open looking like that); and 2) there was quite a bit of color left on my face which was very visible - I had to go home and wash my hair and scrub my hairline before I was comfortable going out. The staff was very nice and I liked being offered something to drink before the work began on my hair. I will definitely schedule another appointment and give them a chance to fix the things I didn't like. ETA: Upgraded my review to 5 stars! I have now been a customer here for 3+ years and I am always happy with the results. Nicole is not only my stylist - she is now a friend. No...just, no. I went in for a Men's Haircut. $20, not bad, plus 10% off if you check in on Yelp. That's what the 1 star is for. The lady that cut my hair (Elizabeth) was awkward. I have really, really thick hair so it needs to be washed before I get it cut. On their website, a shampoo is included in the Men's Haircut, but all she did was get my hair wet. Meh, whatever. At one point she asked me where I worked. I told her, and she said "I'm surprised they let you have your hair so long." Uh, my hair barely covers my ears. It's not long at all. She had commented on how thick my hair was. I told her I get it from my mother. Later on, when she was trimming my neck, she said "Do you get your hairy neck from your mom too?" WTF? I told her perhaps it's because I'm a MALE?! Lol! She rushed through my haircut, and within 10 minutes she was "done." I paid and went home. The hair cut isn't terrible, but it's very uneven and looks almost like a bowl cut (gross). I could have gotten a better job from Supercuts. I might actually go in and see if they can even it out for me. Never again. read more

Although I really like this salon, yesterday's experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I went in for a full highlight. I waited about 45 minutes for the color to set and was took back to the sink for the wash out/ toner application. She slightly rinsed my hair and said she had to get the toner made up. I sat there for another 15 mins waiting only to have to wait again because she didn't make enough. Not sure they she couldn't make the toner while I was waiting 45 mins for color to set but whatever. When I go to pay, she says "since we had to use so many foils and your hair is so thick it's $125." I didn't realize it was my fault I inherited thick hair? And you used more foils when you thought you would!! Not my fault so why am I getting punished with a higher bill? It wasn't until after I left, I felt a "gummy" residue on the hair by my neck. She didn't wash out all the product! Wtf! Way to focus on the top of head. If I have such thick hair you should know you need to get under all the layers. I'll go there again but won't let Nicole do my color. read more

I read all the reviews more than once, wondering why I was the only one to give them 1 star. I had a facial and haircut. The facial was horrid. There was no massage with the service, never took off my eye makeup, never cleansed my neck, put alcohol on my skin after extractions, never put moisturizer on after. This morning I have dots all over my face from the lancet and my nose is bruised. :( Good thing I had a haircut, because when I was in the sink I still had mask on my face which she washed off at the sink with a towel. Very dissappointed with the service. The salon was very friendly with good energy, I bailed early on my haircut when I realized she did not have a lot of razor experiance. I was impatient and didn't want to wait for my regular stylist at another salon as I like to get my haircut at the last minute. I found Twisted Scissor salon while searching Google. I liked that it seemed like a salon that was trendy, but reasonable, close to my house,prices were listed online, and I could book online. Their website even had reviews for each stylist. Most stylists were booked up for the time frame I needed. So I took a chance on a stylist with no reviews- mistake #1. I booked a shampoo/cut which was listed as $18.95. I arrived at the salon and though it seemed clean and modern, but tI felt an unfriendly vibe. My wait time was longer than my haircut.I debated whether I should continue to wait, but I was desperate to have a haircut. As a mom of a nine month old I was looking forward to some time to myself. 30 min past my appt time I finally got seen. I requested some face framing and a trim. Despite booking a shampoo/ cut I got a chain salon spray down and was done in five minutes. Silly me, I thought the hairsylist was one of those that likes to cut first then shampoo so I didn't say anything and before I could blnk my haircut was over. I have waited in drive-thrus that were longer than this cut. I ended up only getting charged $15.95 since as another stylist pointed out " you didn't shampoo her." I came to the salon feeling like an out of style mom and left the same way. I have no desire to go back to this salon. My stylist had stated she had spent over 10 years at a chain salon and it was obvious by my experience and lack of style. I would advise anyone to go with stylists that are repeatedly complimented by clients in reviews. read more

This was the closest place to my home that was well-rated and didn't require me to drive into the city. It is very inexpensive, but I find that you get what you pay for. My stylist was very nice, but I don't feel like she listened to what I really wanted. The cut was shorter and not as I had asked for. It wasn't layered at all, and the way she styled it was very pedestrian. I'd even showed her a picture of when I had this cut several months ago. I do have to say I am very picky, as my last three stylists did my hair really well. if you want an inexpensive cut in a nice salon, though, you'll probably be okay here. read more

Got a Groupon deal and was able to get an appointment super easily. Michelle was my stylist, and she did an amazing job! I got blonde highlights which she spaced out so well - not stripey nor fake looking - love how the color turned out! Then she trimmed and thinned my huge thick curly hair. Curly hair can be difficult to cut- but she did a fabulous job and was very communicative about how much I wanted off before she trimmed. She treated me like a loyal customer not just the zillionth Groupon customer. I like that she took her time but still had me in/out under two hours. I saw Valerie for highlights and a cut and my experience was excellent! First off hearing the girls talk was a fun experience in its own they all have a great down to earth persona, all talked and joked even tho I was not their client! Reminded me of just hanging out with my own friends and that in its self made for a great experience! Now to my hair....I love it, it looks and feels great! Valerie did a most awesome job! I will forever continue my services here! Did I mention their prices are excellent!!! This place is good. It's nothing to rave about, but I wouldn't say don't go here. It's tastefully decorated, good music, and plenty of staff so you're not waiting around to have your color rinsed. I brought my son here and he got a good cut. He was happy, so I was happy. Then my husband came in. Another good experience. My experience was not so great. I had very, very long hair and I wanted it cut into a layered bob. My hair is probably medium coarse. It has volume and holds a style easily. I brought in pictures of what I wanted for color but the final color didn't quite match. It was at least two shades darker than what I wanted. The girl did offer to re-color it, but I worried about damaging my hair. The cut didn't have the layers quite as I wanted. I wasn't advised that my hair "wouldn't do that" or anything - the finished product just wasn't what I wanted. It framed my face, but the layers in back were much more choppy than the photos I brought in. It's not a bad cut. It's not something that needs to be fixed (and it can't be without going much shorter). But it's not what I wanted. I should have paid attention to the rave reviews below and booked an appointment with Liz. I might try again (with Liz), but I'm still on the fence. I give this place 3 stars because my son and husband were very happy and my cut/color was ok. It wasn't what I wanted, but it's not something I'm embarrassed to be seen in. read more

I was able to get an appointment the same day I called and Liz was fantastic. She helped me pick a good color and cut my hair perfectly. The energy was great and everyone was very helpful.
