Both times I've been I had to wait 30min for my stylist, despite having an appointment. The first gal gave me a quick dry cut and only charged $10 since it was my first time, though I felt like she just wanted to move me along. The second one gave me a dry cut for $25 because I has to be somewhere and she had run so late. She did offer me a deep condition for free on the next visit, but I wasn't impressed with anything other than the hip interior. Didn't feel like trying to see if third time would've been the charm, or just another impatient wait for a quick and subpar cut. read more

I got my hair cut by Valerie today and she made my hair look amazing! I have very thick hair so it is nearly impossible for my to get a decent haircut under $50. My past 3 haircuts have been horrible, but I just told Val what I wanted and she did it exactly for a VERY affordable price. I also saw some of the other girls in the shop and it looked like all of the girls were very good. They were also very good with kids. Called at 3pm talked to a girl Nicole who honestly sounded like she was stoned made a appointment for my daughter and niece to get a hair cut she said ok 630 & 645 with Vanessa then we head down there some Liz girls says very rudely I'm in the middle of a colour but Michelle will be available in a hour. Went to an overpriced trendy salon in downtown Denver and left with hair that was various shades of red. No, I was not going for the ombre look. Even after this other salon tried to fix my hair it was a mess. So, I decided to try a local place closer to home. After reading the reviews I picked Twisted Scissors and booked an appointment with Erin. She is amazing! She took the time to tell me what was wrong with my hair and was honest about having to go with a shorter cut. She also gave me a time frame on how long it would take to get my hair back to normal. Honestly, I am not a fan of short hair, but I have been getting a ton of compliments on the cut and color. I've been in twice and Erin takes the time to go over everything she is going to do. Erin cut my 8 year old daughter's hair and did a great job so I went back for myself. I went in when they were running a special on their cuts. I got a touch up on my color with several foils and a hair cut. Erin did a good job on my hair, very pretty. The prices are good, the staff was nice, and the atmosphere was comfortable. I will definitely go back for another hair cut but save the color only for a special treat. read more

The first time I went I saw rachel to fix box color and she was great. My color was awesome but she did chop off way more than I told her to with my trim. I said an inch and then three were gone. But overall I was satisfied. So I decided this would be my new salon. My second trip did not go so well. I saw Ashley and told her I wanted some hot pink peek a boo highlights and even showed her a picture. We discussed things and seemed to be on the exact same page. Everything was going fine until she informed me that she had another appointment in ten minutes while I still had foils in my hair. She said Liz would be finishing my appointment. Ashley seemed so rushed to get me out of her chair that the pink ended up being more of a purple, most of what she highlighted is still orange from not being colored pink, and not to mention my peek a boo highlights aren't even visible unless you go searching for them. I'm not happy with my hair at all right now and I'm debating if I should ever go back. read more

I was very apprehensive about going to a new salon, my old stylist left her job up and quit. I read the yelp reviews and all good so I decided to give Twisted Scissors a try. I was not disappointed. Michelle was my stylist and she did an amazing job. I went from dark brown to heavy blonde highlights and my hair looks great. I Defiinetly would reccommend this salon . Went here for the first time about a month ago. Didn't want to write a review right away because I wanted to see how my hair grew out and if it was worth it. The price is great, the atmosphere is nice, the salon is cute and clean. Not the worst haircut, but also not the best. I arrived early for my appointment because I had not yet been to the salon and wanted to make sure I knew where it was and not be late. I've never felt guilty for being early before. I was questioned why I was early, why I booked an appointment with the person I did, and if I felt like I really had to see her or if they could just throw me in with whoever was open. I was then told that if I wanted to keep my appointment, I would be put in after the highlights that needed to be started that arrived 20 minutes late. I felt rushed the whole time I was getting my hair cut, and completely not wanted since I was not a regular client. The experience was better than the cheap chain places, but I won't be going back. read more

I talked a lot about my last bad haircut, and not being able to find a reliable regular stylist. I showed her photos of what I was going for, she really listened, and she asked more questions to make sure she knew what I wanted. My hair feels incredible and I am so glad I found them here! Terrible customer service. I booked an appt online with a stylist that had an opening at the time I needed. I showed up a few minutes early, and the girl at the desk said she would let the stylist know I was there. Thirty minutes later, I was still not taken back for haircut and highlights. The stylist I booked with didn't even know I was there, but everyone saw me just sitting there for all that time! I had taken time off work to get my hair done, and couldn't just re-schedule that easily. Needless to say, I won't be going back, nor will I be referring any more friends to this place. read more

This salon is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been going to the Aveda Academy downtown for years and love that environment, but I was getting sick of the parking and also the fact that when I found someone I liked she/he would get more and more expensive over time. Twisted scissors is so much closer and more convenient. It is cute and well decorated and provides a upper end salon experience (including beverages - wow!). Nicole took the time to listen carefully to what I wanted, and even consulted with other stylists about the best way to do what I wanted to do. She was friendly and made my experience comfortable and fun. I got a good cut for a low, low price. Perfect! I am definitely going back. I came here after getting a Groupon deal for $46 for a cut, blowout and deep conditioning. I haven't gone to a hair stylist in several years and wanted to treat myself and get something new. I was really looking forward to it and ended up being so disappointed. After making an appointment nearly a week in advance, I ended up waiting over 20 minutes still for my stylist, who was super rushed and working on another girl at the same time. She washed my hair, conditioned it and sat me under a heat lamp with plastic on my head for literally OVER AN HOUR while she did the other girl's hair. She was very apologetic and explained she was covering for another stylist and just did not have time. When it came time for the cut I told her I wanted layers for added volume and bangs, she told me layers wouldn't add as much volume as a straight cut and added some very juvenile looking bangs. She also mentioned she would give me some free samples of product to try out and never did (I'm guessing she forgot and I didn't want to spend any more of my time there as at this point it had been well over 2 hours). So I spent almost $60 (I still tipped her because I didn't want to be that guy) on a shampoo, conditioning, and basic (terrible) trim (nobody even noticed I got my hair cut). I would guess based on the other reviews here that normally they probably do really great work and my experience was an exception and not the norm, but I will definitely never go back. read more

Our experience at this business was awful. I took my two daughters to get a new hair cut for one and a trim for the other. They did not wash or wet down the girls hair. We left a little nervous as both girls were done in 30 minutes. The girls then washed their hair and YEP the cuts were way off. We did take one of the girls back in hopes that it could be fixed. After cut #2 her hair was still way off. In my opinion this "salon" is a great clips at best. I know we will never be back!!!!! If I were you I would also think twice. read more

If you like being treated like a second class citizen--see Nicole C! I have never written a review before but after tonights appointment, I have to! I had an appointment with Nicole C. at 5pm for highlights on my chin length hair. I had just gotten my foils on when another customer arrived for highlights as well. They seem to be good friends. Nicole started placing the foils on her riends super long hair, leaving me to sit under a dryer. Nicole left me there still, all the while her friends highlights are finished, and she is shampooed. Then she gets me, shampoos me and then...get this....LEAVES ME TO LIE AT THE SINK FOR 30 MINUTES while she chats it up and blow dries her friends hair. Are you serious? Who does that? After a nearly 3 hour appointment for highlights, I got up, conditioner still in and all and asked to pay so I could leave. I asked her why she double booked herself and told her I thought it was very rude. All she did was smile. I got no discount and she even had the gawl to ask me if I wanted to leave a tip!
