The dining room that had always been decorated with murals and paintings was now all bare brick walls. We sat down and waited for the rest of our party to arrive while ordering a few empanadas.. The shot came when we were presented menus, which had shrunk down to 1/3 the size and gone up at least 35 to 40% in cost.. the empanadas we ate were mediocre at best. After the rest of the party arrived, no one came to the table for at least 10 minutes at which point we decided it was not a good place to have a celebration. After searching for a Tex-Mex restaurant, I stumbled across Taco King. This location is actually pretty big with plenty of sitting space. My usual go-to dish at a Tex-Mex place is the Grilled Steak rice platter, so I decided to stick with what I like. I thought the steak here was excellent. It came with one flour tortilla, rice, beans, salad, guac, and chili. The quality and proportion was better than what I expected. However, it was crazy expensive. I know I sound old, but I remember that only a few years ago, the same dish was about $8 or $9. Now it's over $17! I would gladly eat here more often if the price was cheaper, but it looks like my search for a Tex-Mex restaurant in Long Island will continue.

All the locals line up for this delicious food, and it's so worth it! Delicious food, great prices, generous portion sizes, large variety of menu options, great customer service! They have a HUGE menu! (See my menu photos). Most items (not all) are premade, and kept in hot steamer tables, ready for your order. There are a few items that are made to order. Our mofongo took about 15 min for them to make, but we didn't mind. The entire staff is so friendly and accommodating. They took such great care in packaging our food. I was so impressed! Each item is overflowing the containers since the portions are very generous. They make sure to wrap each item individually, in plastic wrap, to avoid any kind of spillage. Don't waste any of the delicious juices and gravy! I really appreciated that the food didn't get spilled in the car before I got home! Kudos to the staff! The Mofongo itself was a bit dry but good after you include some gravy. Very good and worth the wait! This was a great first experience and I can't wait to go back to try their goat stew, roast pork and other goodies.
