I was in this store and went to purchase a scrapbook that was on an endcap with a sign that read, "50% off scrapbook albums". When I went to purchase, the cashier told me that the item was not on sale, but she would call someone to find out if the sign was incorrect. They said there was no sign and I paid full price for the item. I then went back to check and took a picture of the sign on the endcap with the product that I had purchased. When I asked a manager to refund the difference, they called up an associate that told me the picture I had was not taken that day and it was not on sale. read more

I went into hobby lobby on Thursday the 13th. Mind you, I am not an artsy person whatsoever. I was greeted with big smiles and all of the store employees I interacted with were very generous and helped me find what I was looking for. In particular, Christine was EXTREMELY helpful!! She helped me find what I needed and then helped me assemble what I was making. She is an expert in EVERYTHING!! She is the best. Working there for 10 years, she deserves a raise!! Bummer to read such negative reviews about a business I've never been disappointed by. First off, Hobby Lobby has just about *everything* you could possibly buy at Michaels, Pier One, and Party City all in one big store. Second part - their prices are great! I have bought lots of whos-its and whats-its for home decoration, crafts, gifts, etc that are very well priced and that I know I'd find more expensive at any of the above-mentioned stores. After those 2 main points of huge selection and great prices you have customer service. I have never had a problem here with bad service, in fact I find the staff really friendly and willing to help navigate the store. The lines may have been long a few times before, but not so bad that I'd say "eff it, I'm not coming back".. nor that I'd be furious about. Honestly, the only big negative I could find was that I want to buy too many things when I come here because they have so many cool things for the house and for crafts.. but is that really a negative?? I've been here many times over the years and have consistently received the same great customer service. I always have on my phone the Hobby Lobby app to use the 40% off coupon with regularly priced items and never a problem. You can only use it once per person per day, so if we have several items, I'll have my kids and husband also use it. They have no issues with that. I don't think I've ever paid regular price for anything here. Either it's on sale or we use the 40% off coupon. Love that every week they have this so I don't have to worry and the app is so easy to use. Michael's does have a similar coupon, but it's not weekly. Love that Hobby Lobby gives their employees Sundays off. Sometimes I forget and go there on a Sunday. My bad. The place is always clean, neatly stocked. And, I always have to go in with something specific to get otherwise I can spend way more than I intend to. Good thing I'm a "stick to your list" type shopper. The only negative thing I can think of which others have written about is sometimes if there are a lot of people, the line gets way too long, they should be like Safeway and open up more registers instead of letting people way a LONG time through the line. I remember 2-3 visits ago, I had 1 item and waited awhile. The lady before me had like a thousand little things of stickers and don't know what the other people before her had. So, to management, if you see the same people standing around waiting to be checked out, please open more registers. read more

First I have to say is that I love Hobby Lobby! The people there are so kind and friendly. Went in there for a price quote on some custom framing and out of two other stores I visited Michaels and a custom frame shop in the same strip mall, I couldn't believe how GREAT the custom framing and matting prices were! They blew the competition out the back door! I go here to find decorative items for home decorating and I could spend hours in this store. Their pricing is great and so are the people. I am impressed with their selection of craft items. I like that they have a lot of pictures for decorating. It was clean, well organized, and the staff were helpful. When to the store in Gilbert. This is only the 2nd time I have been in one of these stores. They have something for everyone. If you are a crafter this is where to go. Love the store! Tons of materials, good prices and lots of inspirational creative goodies. I like that there's quite a few things that you can't get at Michaels or Joanns. But what's the deal with the grumpy ladies who cut material? I've been there two times, and both times the lady at the cutting counter has been unfriendly and unhelpful. If I could give zero stars , I would. This location has by far the rudest employees. I've been numerous times and never been greeted or asked if I could even be helped. I've even witnessed managers barking orders at employees and never once gave me a 2nd glance. There's also some sour faced employee who restocks merchandise and comes within 2 inches of me with her cart, expecting me to move out of her way, but never says excuse me. I still went back after that because they have a lot of the things I need. This day was different though. Amanda, a cashier, was ringing my purchase. had my husband and 4 year old with me, so I had him do a separate transaction in order to use another coupon. I was buying 3 of the same banner in one transaction and Amanda says to me, 2 of your 3 banners are marked at $9.99 and the 3rd is $11.99, do you still want it? I reply, "yes, I need 3 in order to fit in the space I want. Don't you just ring it at the lower price since they are all the same?" She tells me that one is probably new stock that they mark them up. Now I'm annoyed. Any other place you go to would give the lower price. (Why do I have to check the tag on every item I buy if they're all the same? ) I tell her to ring them all at $9.99 and I'll go grab another one and show it to her as I walk out the door. She continues with the transaction and when she gives me the total, I ask if that is with all 3 banners, she replies, "no only 2, just in case there are none left at $9.99". So I say, "so if there is, then I have to wait in line again? ". She rolls her eyes and says very snottily, "uh, I'll pull you to the front of the line! " so instead of offering to have another employee retrieve one for me, I have to go get it myself. I go back and wouldn't you know my luck, they only have $11.99 ones. I go to the front and she has a long line and after she helps her current customer, I start to speak and she holds up her index finger and shouts to Chelsea if she can call another cashier to"help this customer". I ask Chelsea for the 3rd banner and she gets it from their restock pile and tells me she didn't think I wanted it. Shirley, the additional cashier comes up, and I tell Chelsea that at any other store, they would honor the lower price. She says that's just our "policy". I didn't realize until it escalated, but when Shirley started to ring me up, I go to use another coupon on my phone and Chelsea, listening in, turns to me with a ,"gotcha!" Smirk on her face and informs me that I cannot use a coupon. I ask why and she replies, " because you already used a coupon and it's one coupon per customer, per day". I ask her, "is that why you're still here easedropping? So you can shame me? ! Forget the fact that I've already been inconvenienced! And how would you even know I used a coupon anyway?" She said it was the cashier's job to let them know when someone used a coupon. Yeah right! Obviously Amanda and Chelsea gossiped about me as soon as I went to grab another item and decided to try to upset me further. We had more words and I stormed out. Called a manager and she was pleasant, but didn't offer any type of reconciliation. Will never return. Shady business practice and rude employees! And all over $2 read more

This store is awesome! There is so much random/cool/weird/interesting things you can find there. There are so many craft ideas to keep you busy! The staff is pretty helpful and helped us to find exactly what we were looking for. The one thing that I dislike is that their prices are a little steep, and I could probably find anything I was looking for at various other places, so Hobby Lobby is simply convenient because it is organized and you can find everything you're looking for there. read more

At the store now and one of the clerks is walking around with a battery powered leaf blower and she is blowing dirt and dust into the air while customers are shopping. I love Hobby Lobby stores but this one is slipping downhill. Aside from it being messy and having a lot of broken items here and there, the bathrooms are disgusting. The floors in and around look like they haven't been cleaned with effort in a long time. There was toilet paper and toilet seat covers everywhere. I understand customers do all of these things but staff should be about and continually checking the bathrooms. I don't see the need to go to this location when there are others that are hopefully cleaner. read more

Went in got what I needed as well as picking up something for my mother-in-law. Standing in line way too long as the manager Stacy stood there sanitizing her hands as the line got longer and longer was told I couldn't do two separate transactions which has never happened before. (This day and age you take care of your customers if you want them to return not only that but you make sales.)(as I also am by picking up something for an elder to keep she out for the Az heat.) Elvia ring up my merchandise wrong. So not only was I not happy in the first place I had to go back in there for a refund ridiculous. I will no longer be going to Gilbert store. Laurie in the fabrics area needs to NEVER be allowed to be around customers! She is horrific in terms of customer service and needs a serious customer service training refresher, which assumes that she's ever had any! She's cranky, cranky, cranky...for no apparent reason! Not sure what more to say about that, but would urge Hobby Lobby to address it and quickly. We didn't encounter any other RUDE employees like Laurie, but the rest were really apathetic so don't come here expecting a lot of help. Sadly you won't get it unless you track someone down and then they won't be happy about your bothering them. I probably wouldn't have rated them a one based on cranky, rude Laurie and the rest of the couldn't-care-less crew but when we got to the checkout there were seven...count 'em...seven employees standing around and one register open! ONE! Someone eventually got on the PA system and called for someone else to come to the register...although why one of the six doing nothing couldn't have helped a customer, I don't know! The person they called took her sweet time and finally arrived after being a called a third time. So thanks for the reminder of why we shop at Michael's! Service matters there and it matters to me so that's where I'll be spending my money from now on. read more

On the plus side this store is very clean, well stocked, and has better prices than their nearby competitor. On the negative side, be prepared to wait in line for WAY TOO LONG to spend your hard earned money. Twice now I have had to wait for about 20 minutes in line while there were Hobby Lobby folks standing around with the fingers up their b***. Not a real hobby store, more of a crafts store. Precious little in modeler needs and miniatures (though more than Michaels which has pretty much eliminated miniatures). Some materials and a fair selection of paint. Mostly "chachkies" for the house, beads, baskets, etc. Pricing follows the typical current retailers scheme where products are way over priced then marked xx% off, which brings them in close to what the normal price would be. Example, an N scale train set sells at Hobby Lobby for $160. With the standard 40% off coupon it is $96. On-line price is around $90. Lesson, don't shop without a coupon and then check the prices closely. Wouldn't mind paying more than on line at a retail store if they had a decent selection. It's a shame, but the day of the old hobby stores for model crafters is pretty much over. read more

I love Hobby Lobby, I really do. The prices are great, the selection is vast and I could get lost in there for hours. However, I hesitate every time I walk in the door because I don't want to deal with their rude employees. EVERY Hobby Lobby I have been to my experience with the employees is the same. They are snotty, pushy and have a bad attitude. You are in their way. You are bothering them. They don't want to help you. I would rather go to Joann's or Michael's to deal with nicer employees and less selection. I have heard employees trash talk customers in the isles at Hobby Lobby. It would be nice if these people were grateful for the customers that come through the door as opposed to annoyed by them. read more

Hobby Lobby is huge and full of staff who can't or won't help. Stood in line for 10 mins while checker waited for somebody to get him a price - a price that was already on the product. My first trip there were 4 pricing errors in 10 items because they're too cheap to use an automated system - the employees are expected to know what's on sale. Of course they don't and when I pointed out the prob to the mgr and told him I would be calling weights and measures he offered to give me their phone number - in TEXAS. And their decision to stick their nose in their employees health care decision is reprehensible - no more Hobby Lobby for me EVER. read more

I like Hobby Lobby due to their selection and sale prices. However, this particular location has a few problems. First, every time I've visited the store in the past 12 months they have been in the process of swapping out seasonal merchandise. This means that boxes are piled and scattered around blocking the current products on the shelves. Second, the employees are rude. I've been sighed at, glared at and even nudged aside because apparently me shopping in the store during their swap out means I'm in their way. Third, no matter what time of day or day of the week I go to this Hobby Lobby location there's only a few registers open and the lines are long as well as slow. I think part of the hold up is that the registers don't recognize sale items and the cashiers have to look them up. Honestly, there's a Hobby Lobby 4 miles closer to me so I'm going to stop shopping at this one. It's not worth being treated like they don't want my money or my business. read more

I don't know if gossiping about customers is a new trend in retail, but this is my second review of a local store with a gossip problem. As soon as the customer ahead of me left the building with her son, two employees standing at a distance began to make loud, disparaging comments about them. Hobby Lobby Employee "Noreen" needs a serious attitude adjustment! I was in the store Sunday with my family. We had a question about an item, Noreen walked by and I asked but she continued to walk away while answering. Well we didn't hear her response, she walked by again and I said "you know, I'd appreciate it if you could stop and respond to us". She kept walking and said "oh yeah I'm a horrible employee, a horrible person. I'm busy helping someone else!" I followed her and asked for her name, she yelled "Noreen" and walked off yelling "do you want my employee number too?". I don't know if this lady was on drugs or what but I've never been treated this way at any retail store. I spoke with a store manager about her behavior, the manager didn't seem surprised when I mentioned Noreen. Why does Hobby Lobby keep employees like this around? I'll stick with Joann's and Michael's because I can see from many reviews that customer service is definitely an issue at this store. I wonder if management is even reading these reviews? read more

I love Hobby Lobby for the vast variety of items to choose from so I do shop there regularly. But this store manager at this location doesn't not have any skills in customer service. I had call the store looking for a particular item and the person who answered said she would have someone check on the availability of the item - returned to my call and said, "No we don't have any of those." A few days later I ran into the store for something else and decided to check myself - and there were literally hundreds of them. I mentioned my experience to the store manager and his attitude was unbelievable - no smile - no oh I am sorry you had that experience - (normal customer service training for most store manager staff) - instead he said, "Oh I will tell them." And continued on his way. Can't believe my experience with this man. They sure need to have more training in customer service!!!! read more

On the surface, this store should be a dream. It's a one stop shop for just about everything a woman could ask for. But it's gotten to a point where I'll only shop here if I absolutely need to. It's apparent that Hobby Lobby doesn't prioritize customer service on any level. The whole atmosphere just feels cold the second you walk in. The store is full of employees that you dodge from aisle to aisle, without anyone even acknowledging your presence. You learn to just work around them. Then if you ask one of them a question, it's as if you woke them up from the dead and you've really interrupted some important box unpacking. No one has an ounce of warmth or personality. And the managers are some of the worst ones. I've maybe caught one smile out of them in all the years that they've worked there. I prefer Michaels. It's just a more pleasant place to shop. Hobby Lobby is like a really pretty car with nothing under the hood. read more
