I called in to place my order, which was quick and easy. I ordered the classic steak which came with steak fries and a ginger ale. The total was $17 and some change. I was about 10 mins. away and arrive around 11:45am. I was able to get a park right out front. Upon entry, I was greeted and assisted promptly as no one was inside. Meat was seasoned well, and fries were good.

We were in town for an AAU boys basketball tournament and stopped by here for a quick sandwich lunch. The place is a classic hole in the wall place that looks 50's old but very clean inside. The owner was at the front register and said she was Korean. Everything was made within minutes and we dined in. I loved my #6 Philly cheesesteak and cheese fries. The portions were very generous. My family enjoyed their lunches as well. The prices were reasonable and represented a good value. Highly recommend!

The portions are huge! The food's also freshly cooked (service is great), and we demolished the two sandwiches between three people within minutes (I forgot to take a picture; we were pretty ravenous.) I'd definitely suggest teriyaki and personal; monster size, if you are planning to split. The sandwiches come with steak cut fries. The place is clean and well kept, and there's street parking available; ambiance is very homey. (Here's some pics of fries. It was the only thing i can salvage after I realized nobody took pics.)

It's a small local shop for cheesesteaks in SL. I've lived in Philadelphia for 4 years so I've had my fair share of cheesesteaks, and this unfortunately didn't meet my expectations. The bread was a bit tough and there wasn't too much meat or cheese. The flavor of the meat is fine and there is a solid amount of fries so it'll fill you up. There is some seating inside and the service is good.

This has been my favorite little spot for years. They are always so kind and friendly. The food is always great. I usually order my hoagie with no bun and have them put it over the fries. It's bomb. Try it :)

I've been eating here since the mid to late 90s when they opened. This is definitely a staple in San Leandro. And one of my go to spots not really a traditional Philly cheesesteak, but the bread is fantastic, the meat is always cooked perfectly and the cheese is nice and gooey. The owners are friendly people and the service is quick. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my food. I've eaten here hundreds of times and never get tired of it. Definitely my top three Philly cheesesteak places this is in it. You can never go wrong with the number one or the sleazy cheesy or the personal.

On the menu, it's says San Leandro's guilty pleasures. That's what is being served at Hoagy Steak. Famous for the cheesesteaks but they also have teriyaki rice plates, burgers, seafood plates, and mush more. It was challenging for me to just order one thing because a lot of items on the menu sounded good to me. But I stuck with what I originally came to try which was the cheesesteak. So how was it? It was solid. Not the best I've had and I think I would ask for 50% more meat that is offered for an additional $4. But overall the bread was soft and toasted perfect. The meat was seasoned well but chopped a little more finely than I'd prefer. I asked for provolone and American cheeses for the contrast which was good. Fries were excellent with crunchy exterior and a soft meaty potato filling inside. The owners were very nice and hard working people. Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu.

Back again! This time for a hoagy burger with American Cheese on a french roll. The service is fast and friendly. The vibe is classic burger joint.

Mushroom (monster - 50% more meat and cheese) & Onion rings

I really wanted to give this more than a 3 star because I have a soft spot for mom and pop shops, but there really just wasn't anything that would warrant a return visit. Got a deluxe with curly fries and a mushroom (monster size) with onion rings. We added onion to both for no extra charge (don't forget to request this or you won't get your onions!). Deluxe and curly fries were fine - no specific complaints, but generally forgettable and just "good" (hence the 3 stars). We did have some issues with the monster mushroom and onion rings though. First, meat to cheese ratio felt way off. It was clear they added more meat to the sandwich but the cheese looked and tasted nearly nonexistent. Onion rings also smelled and tasted fishy. We're assuming they used the same oil as their fish n chips and it was just not a pleasant experience. Overall, wanted to love this place but didnt. Glad others love it and will support them though!

The BEST cheesesteak shop in the bay, hands down, this mom and pop spot with the kindnest customer service, they had always came through with consistency and deliciousness. Inside is pretty tight and since I broke my ankle I've been ordering everything To-Go for now. I always order a cheesesteak add extra cheese, bacon and avocado with a side a of curly fries. They give you so much food, it's so worth it. I've tried they're teriyaki plates as well and they're a 11/10, soooo good! Plus they have Mexican sodas, I love it here. Whenever someone ask me to recommend them a good cheesesteak spot, I always say this spot and it never fails!

After I finished shopping at Sprouts, I returned to my car and decided to go to Roccabs in person. I was still calling and still no one answered. I pulled up in front of the deli before 2pm and there were still patrons dining "inside" of the deli. I got out of my car and headed inside only to meet one of the employees as she was leaving and she smiled and said, "Im sorry we are closing now". I looked over at the two women who were sitting down and eating their lunch, as I was turned away. There were no hours posted on the door, and everyone behind the counter was literally standing around talking. I probably will not return based on the service. Not answering the phones, but your doors are open and you are serving patrons who were white and turning away people of color coming through the door, during normal business hours according to Google and no signs on the door indicating special hours today. All while turning away POC patrons on MLK day. Nope!!! Do better Roccab. You could have taken the time to post special hours and since you were in fact open, you could have answered the phones to let customers know you had special hours today or that you were Not open to the public. These are simple things to do. And it looks really awkward telling someone you are not open, when you have other people dining inside your establishment.

We noticed two self-service ordering kiosks to the right but decided to check out the menu board and salad case first. When we were done, the cashier asked if she could take our order. That's always my preference over poking buttons on a impersonal screen. We placed our order, paid, and stood aside to wait. My name was called when our order was ready. It was bagged and ready to go. We thanked the cashier and went home. Normally, I'm not a sandwich guy. Today, after working outside in the sun, I was hungry and had a craving for something filling and cold. Macaroni Salad was on my mind. I looked that up on Yelp and Bara's was reasonably close. I also saw a Shrimp Salad that looked pretty good online. When we arrived home, I proceeded to take pictures of our meal. Sigh. Instead of Macaroni Salad, we got Potato Salad. Not quite the same. A quick peek at my receipt and I saw that the wrong key must have been pressed. I should have checked my receipt after I paid. The cashier should have repeated the order before sending it. The Potato Salad didn't satisfy my craving for Macaroni Salad, but I wasn't about to drive back to exchange it. The flavor was unique though, in that it had a cheesy flavor. The Shrimp Salad was not good. Flavor wise, it was okay with a little bit of heat. But texture wise, it was a mess. If Shrimp was supposed to be cooked for two minutes and then dropped into an ice bath, these had been cooked for four minutes and not iced. They were cooked to death. I got a Bay Area Special with Swiss. It was okay. A ton of meat, not so much on the veg. I would prefer more balance. But overall, it was pretty good. She got The Gobbler. She also felt that the meat overwhelmed the veg. Additionally, the cranberry sauce was overwhelmed by the cream cheese. We came, we saw, we ate. It'll be a long while before I go after another sandwich.

With most lots like this you can't be compelled to pay the tickets - only when the city issues tickets are they enforceable. The plaza is privately owned, and everything is leased out.
