I currently live in Belmar and this place is one of my go-to's anytime I crave a delicious meal! I have heard people complaining about the size of the sandwich but I believe it is PERFECT, just enough to fill you up without feeling like you overate! I try to get a new "hoagito" every time I go and I have yet to have a negative experience. For the price point you can't get a better sub! These are not enormous Italian subs that feed a family at the beach, but a clever blend of slow cooked brisket, crispy shallots, pickled jalapeños and Swiss melted on a toasty 5" or so roll. This will be my go-to spot for beach food. read more

Hoagitos is fantastic, I think I've had almost everything on the menu. They have no shellfish, which is great for food allergy suffers in a beach town awash with shellfish. The small staff is super nice and I often call in my order and pick it up. It's great to get affordable and delicious sandwiches for a beach day or boat ride. They have good portobello (cold) and eggplant (hot) sandwich options for vegetarians. So the sandwiches taste but not worth the price for the tiny size especially considering the bread thickness to filling ratio. Also they have breakfast on the menu but don't serve it after the morning. Sounds normal except why advertise it on your menu and not have an "until x time" clause??? I seen them for years on Asbury's boardwalk and just thought they where a average sandwich shop, Wrong! I ordered the roast beef sandwich and was just surprised by the flavor and unique twists. Good food! Remember the name though so when you get your sandwich you won't think to yourself it's a small sandwich. For $6 it's reasonable size but the value is in the taste! I've heard a lot of good things about this place and have been meaning to check it out for a while. I happened to be in the area today so I thought I'd give it a try. I called them for a pickup sandwich order and was put on hold... and waited...and waited.I gave up, thinking they were super busy. But, I was right there so I stopped in. And.... Surprise! Like many places these days I found an empty house and all employees on their phones, apparently not with potential customers. I ordered at the counter and had my sandwich within 10 minutes. It's almost like they didn't want to actually work unless forced with human interaction. With that being said, the Forbidden Chicken sandwich was very good. Not as good as I was led to believe by fellow Yelpers, but still tasty. I guess most places prefer you order online, but I prefer to speak to a real person and would rather pay cash. By far the best tasting food in Belmar (or the entire Jersey Shore)! After living in NYC for the last 20 years, finding good tasting food outside of the city is always a challenge.
