I politely said no and asked for something short and simple. His demeanor immediately changed--he lost the smile and rushed through my nails. The results were uneven, with each nail noticeably a different length. I didn't realize a square shape could be so difficult to get right. Still, I left a tip and went on my way. Unfortunately, one of my nails popped off the very next day. I returned to get it fixed and was greeted again by the same tech--friendly at first--but he was busy giving a pedicure in the back. A different tech at the front asked what I needed. I explained I was there to get a nail fixed but didn't know the name of the person who originally did them. She asked if it was "the guy in the back," and I said yes--only because I had just seen the same man at the pedicure station. I now realize she may have meant someone else from the back of the nail area. Then, a different male tech came over, glanced at my nails, and started speaking to another technician in his native language. I clearly heard him say "the guy in the back" while they laughed together--it felt like they were making fun of the situation, which was uncomfortable. They had me sit at a station for a long time. The tech whose station it was kept checking on me but never started the service. He kept pretending he had forgotten something in the back and left several times. I was on the verge of walking out just to avoid making a scene. Eventually, the original tech returned and reluctantly started working on my nails. He forced a friendly tone, rushed through the repair again, and walked off as soon as I was under the lamp. Once my nails were dry, I had to get up, walk across the salon, thank him myself, and then I left. This was not the experience I expected based on the good things I had heard. Sadly, I won't be returning.
