Mac and cheese was BLAND!
Joy O.

This neighborhood gem was a nice spot for a chill late brunch, early dinner vibe. I was able to get parking right in the front and seated immediately when I entered. I had the deviled eggs, wings, and the stuffed salmon with mac and cheese, spinach and mashed potatoes. The deviled eggs and wings were so good. The salmon wasn't stuffed and the sides were VERY BLAND. They didn't have any mocktails, so I was disappointed in that, and the service was a bit inconsistent, but they were nice and responsive when they were attentive. It did take awhile for me to get my bill bc they were on the phone or hanging outside. This is a place I could hang out, relax and get some virtual work done. I also liked that it is black-owned. Came to meet up with a friend. Street parking. Was $2.25 max an hour. Park mobile Think the DJ was playing music from a streaming service like Pandora. Chill mix of early 2000 music. Happy hour when I came and sat at the bar. Ha salmon bites with remoulade . they were good but soooo hot lol. I should have waited ten mins for them to cook down instead of burning the inside of my mouth lol . This place has locals and I can see why . Glad I came to finally check it out

Came here for brunch, left wishing we hadn't. Let's start with the good: the ambiance is okay, and the bathrooms are clean (always a plus). But unfortunately, that's where the highlights end. Service was just okay, but the experience went downhill fast. First, the music kept cutting out, so we got to enjoy the soothing sounds of their iPad clicking through the speaker instead. Then, they were out of coffee--at brunch. A bold move for a brunch spot. The food? Clearly frozen, barely passable, and somehow not cheap. They also charged us $4 extra per meal for sausage--even though our dishes already came with meat. We would've said something, but we didn't even notice until we looked at the receipt after we left. And the real kicker? A sneaky, undisclosed 20% "service charge" tacked on, which we didn't realize until after we had already tipped another 20%. So in total, we paid 40% in tip and service. Absolutely ridiculous. If we had caught the charges earlier, we would've spoken up, but the fact that it wasn't made clear upfront? Total scam!! Moral of the story: save your money, your taste buds, and your sanity. Plenty of better brunch spots out there.

Shrimp&Grits along with a Purple Reign is amazing for brunch my friend ordered the steak, eggs and potatoes with a Honey please. We will definitely return. Nish and the supporting staff are Excellent!

What a wonderful little place! While visiting from the ATL, we found this gem on Yelp and decided to stop in. As soon as you walk in, it feels like home! Everyone is friendly, it has such a chill vibe and you just know the food is going to be SO good! And it sure was! My partner had the Crab Hash while I stuck to my classic favorite, Chicken and Waffles! The Crab Hash was full of flavor with peppers, onions, potatoes combined with some juicy crab meat! He ate every single bite of it! My C&W was so flavorful and not as dense as a lot of recipes. This waffle was the perfect blend of sweet with the crispy savory chicken that made it just fantastic! If you're in the DC area, make the trip to His & Hers! They're a step above!

the service was good and the food was, as well! happy to try this food spot for the first time with my friends for his 22nd birthday! the top floor is calm and a bit underwhelming, but we need to explore the downstairs!

Catfish Tenders
Candace T.

Cool dive. Nice staff and chill atmosphere. I met a friend here and for a while we were the only customers. The catfish tenders were tasty and I enjoyed the sauce. The fried cauliflower smelled odd to me so I didn't taste it but it looked good. For the portion sizes it was overpriced. I can't say if I'd go back or not... Maybe.

This was apparent in the warm, welcoming atmosphere where everyone was working together as a team, learning, being patient, and you could see the growth and confidence happening in real time. It was really inspiring to see. Service was great - quick, friendly, and helpful. The food was very tasty and inexpensive - breakfast sandwiches were well-portioned and under $10. They also had lattes, coffees, and teas. They have an outdoor patio overlooking Rhode Island Avenue and seating inside with their nternet if you are looking for a workspace, meeting place, or coffee/snack shop. Customer service was great and I was greeted immediately. It wasn't crowded but there was a steady flow of customers while I was there. I ordered the Breakfast Wrap, which was fantastic along with a Granny Smith apple lemonade. I would've never thought to put those two items together but it was easily one of the best lemonades I've ever tried. I had to order a second one when my daughter decided my drink was now for her. Speaking of, my daughter ordered the Nutella Stuffed French Toast and rated it a 100/10. While waiting for my order, I had a chance to speak with one of the head chef's and he told me about the culinary program their offer to teach refugees culinary skills. I loved hearing that tidbit about the shop and found it truly admirable. Overall, my only gripe is the street parking situation can be a little tough but it wasn't too bad on this particular morning. I would absolutely return.

Somehow, I had only been to this place during the winter time, but it is a completely different vibe during the warmer months. The outdoor space is stunning, and everything just feels brighter and happier. The staff are really nice, the patrons are enjoying themselves, and they just have excellent food. My friend and I happen to come during this fashion show event so there were complimentary hors d'oeuvres for everybody present, but we still ordered delicious deviled eggs (I could've eaten a whole tray of them) and had some great cocktails. You know, for the first time ever, I paid attention to a bunch of board games that they have on a shelf. But based on the stuff that's on the shelf in front of them, I am not 100% sure that they are up for grabs, but it still looks cool. Anyone who is in this area should definitely pay them a visit. Provost is an absolute JOY - the ambience, the service, THE FOOD!!! The restaurant accommodated us when we had to push our reservation back and then were very gracious and attentive when we were seated. We went on a Friday night and there was a DJ spinning an excellent set from the 70s/80s/90s mostly. It was a little bit loud, but the vibe was so joyful that we didn't mind. I don't know if the DJ is a nightly feature. My husband had the fried whole red snapper and the garlic spinach. He ate every last morsel, except the one tiny bite I managed to steal. Excellent flavor, moist, perfectly spiced. I ordered the Mac n Cheese balls as an appetizer and the grilled shrimp and cheese grits as my main. The cheese balls arrived piping hot and SO DARN GOOD. Heaven. And the shrimp and grits were also delicious. The shrimp was perfectly cooked - not rubbery or tough at all. I took some of the grits and one cheese ball home so that I'd have room for dessert. Opted for the caramel drizzled cheesecake. Perfection. Provost feels like you're walking into your best friend's house for dinner and maybe a little partying, too. It was a wonderful introduction to the neighborhood- can't wait to go back!

Review: Haute Hash is a Black Business, serving up breakfast, brunch, lunch and early dinner. For brunch I had a handheld and it was truly delicious. The sandwich was the Sausage/Bacon $8 --Fried egg, gouda cheese, arugula, tomato jam, cheddar, buttered brioche. It was probably one of the BEST and TASTIEST sandwiches I've had in a long time. I also ate the Premium -- Salmon Belly Hash $20 --Sunny egg, tomato garlic compote, fontina cheese. I saved this for a early dinner and it was a generous amount and I shared it with my son.
