The sushi they make here do taste better than other Chinese buffet restaurants' but I still wouldn't put Hiro in my "Japanese" cuisine book! I enjoyed the miso soup, chicken wings, shrimp cocktail, veggies, sushi, ice cream (in their own individual cups! Great for controlling waste but wish they label the flavors). I stayed away from the crab legs - they were really REALLY salty. For about $15 you get to eat seafood (including oysters!) on the weekend at dinner time! Not a bad deal, I'm glad to have tried it but probably won't go out of the way to come visit... read more

finally a decent buffet in colorado :) definitely way better than Kings buffet. We went to both lunch and dinner time. For lunch it was about $10 something i can't recall almost $11 per person , food was great . love their sushi selection , doesn't taste bleh like King's buffet. i like their chinese food too. now for dinner even though it's double the price i think $19 per person , but they have raw oysters , snow crab, shrimps and crawfish. totally worth it !! :) place itself is clean. we really like this place. great for your money. read more

Our "go to" buffet and sushi place. Always very good, fresh selection, and the people are very nice. You won't find a better sushi deal.

Underrated and always full . Food is cooked really good fir the price. I wouldn't say the best in the world but for what you pay it's DEFINTELY the best . The sushi is always fresh and sashimi as well . Crab is good at night and choices are pretty diverse Z I go here at least once a month read more

I've never been to a place like this before. It was SUPER packed, which seems that it is very well liked. People come here in big groups, so thankfully we just needed a small table which seemed to help get us sat a little quicker, but overall the wait moved. The waiting area is WAYYY too small right now for their crowds, but that is apparently due to them working to expand. The crowd might have helped with the fact that all of the food was really freshly prepared and didn't seem soggy or like it had been sitting around. They also seemed to keep up on keping things stocked. So many great options too! A great variety of sushi, crab legs, shrimp, etc. There was a very gregarious young lady at the counter who was super helpful and shared info on them expanding to have a hot pot too. Maybe we were on a good night, as our service was attentive and pleasant. read more

The food here, the service and the ambiance was all good. Runners made sure to switch out what's nearly gone, servers are usually busy because this restaurant is always crowded. The seats are so close together you better hope you're not too big. They don't have many options just the basic but it's good stuff. Try it out read more

Alright, I know how you probably feel about "fresh buffet sushi", the classic oxymoron. However, this place is actually really fresh, they rotate the sush every hour, grilled lobster tails and their hot dishes are pretty good too. read more

Dinner is definitely better than lunch because they bring out the sashimi and crab, oysters, etc. A whole array of Chinese foods and sushi bar with real fish nigiri and rolls. Prices are very reasonable compared to other AYCE sushi restaurants. Everything is good except the service. This place is generally packed but only has a few servers taking drink orders or refilling water. read more

Ok I never give buffets 5 stars unless it's a Vegas buffet so this is a great rating in my book. The chicken wings were so good my son and I regretted eating at another place before this place. We went here after a wedding and ate up a storm. The sushi was really fresh and not too much rice. The different rolls were dynamite! I think I ate like 5 huge fresh oysters with cocktail sauce. The wasabi was too hard though. You guys need to soften that up so it dissolves in the soy sauce easier. I stirred that for a long long time before it loosened up. The chocolate ice cream was good too but you have to eat it there or they will charge you .50. I don't know how they make a profit because they have a lot of seafood and I didn't get to eat it but they had Korean bbq in the back. Eat here if you want a lot of seafood. It's totally worth it! read more

Last time I will eat here. Arrived 15 minutes after they opened, on Saturday. Weekend prices are $22.99 per person, A lot of the food tasted like it was left over from the night before and microwaved too long. There were no crab legs while we were there. May have been when they first opened (15 min prior) and not replenished. The sushi was flavorless. There signs everywhere telling customers to not waste food and how much the food cost the restaurant. It is very hard to pay $23 a person, and receive cold, stale and mushy food and not waste it. And to top it off- we did not receive service whatsoever. Had to chase someone down to get a glass of water. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Usually when I am in that area of town I go to other restaurants around! This restaurant was and will be a mistake,I wish I had not gone too from the start! Signs everywhere telling you not to waste food, all you can eat place??? Never seen that before! Food was ok,not stellar!! Yet the ending was the highest issue, upon leaving they leave you a check with the tipping portion indicating a tip circled , soliciting a tip ??? Then the very nerve of the waitress questioning me about give her a tip!?????? She was about to get it physically.i was insulted by this incident, I went to the front counter, the women start claiming that does not happen, when I explained it to her,she then said she would have a talk to them in the back, they were not supposed to be doing that! What I say is hmmmmmmm! There is a ratt here all the way around! Will never return to this bad place! Warning read more

Not worth it even for 13 dollars the food is cold. And the waiters don't really acknowledge you and that is after you have to leave a tip before you sit down. It is just as good as every other Asian Buffet which means it isn't worth it. Spend a little bit more money and go to Sushi Katsu! read more

I'm not a picky eater. However this was not the best place to come eat. The food was cold and meat was not cooked. Additionally the seating was not ideal. I would not recommend this place. read more

So here's my criteria for buffets: 1) good (enough) food. 2) fairly priced. 3) wide selection. 4) no lines. 5) empty dishes quickly replaced. 6) clean. Hiro ticks the boxes for all these! Plus along with the extensive Chinese food fare, there's sushi, sashimi, a korean area, clay pot something, and a cooked to order section. That's a WIDE SELECTION. Considering that this wide selection is still the same every night, I can't return too often but when I do it's nearly always a positive experience. I'd recommend it and return! read more

So...much...food. Let me tell you, for the price, you can't beat it! Something here for everyone! My parents and I went with family to the buffet and I'm not one for buffets, but I decided to give this a try. Plenty of seating, booths and tables so they can accommodate a larger party. Once they seat you, you are free to roam. It's not large, but they have a large selection - fried rice, chow mein, rolls, crab legs, and a grill if you wanted to order something they make it. I am one to watch when they come out to put fresh batches of food out, I'll make my way up and grab it. If I feel it's been sitting a while, no thanks. Most of the food here was changed out frequently; especially the rolls as they are on ice. Service here was good. They definitely made sure to pick up unused plates, so your table wasn't overcrowded, leaving more room for you to get food! read more

Would not recommend, place has gone downhill over the years. Food quality is not great, oysters are bad, crab legs super salty. Sometimes they take forever to put out more food once they run out. I know times are hard but people pay good money for this buffet and should be able to eat what they paid for. Service is not great, owner is rude. read more

I have been here about 3x, mainly family members like it because of the all you can eat seafood. But I have never really liked the food. Here is the deal, it's $20.99 a person. Sounds like a good deal, but quality is way off. Every time I go here, I'm not the payer so whatever. But this last time, I got really sick. Like for over 2 weeks. Be careful, if you are covid aware. You're basically touching the dirty utensils over and over. The rundown: My sushi tasted a bit old, like it's been sitting out. Maybe that made me sick? Or maybe it was the chicken. I don't know, I told my family I don't want to come back. Yes they have big tables for large parties. But for that price go somewhere else, hell cook a decent meal at your own place. A lot of fried foods, and I like fried but they might be overcooking things because the taste was off. Like kinda chewy, hard, and like they been sitting out. I just think if you want quality , don't come here. It's way too pricey in my opinion. You can go to red lobster and maybe order something cheaper and might even taste better. And I mean that too, nothing here sticks out to me as quality. Not saying red lobster is the best, but it's better than this place. But if you could care less, keep in mind weekends are the busiest. Go early like when they first open. Be careful with the sushi, if it's sitting out too long. I did get sick, maybe it was that. You might find gritty things in your mussels. read more

Truly had to fight back giving this 1 star. Nothing completely horrific happened or anything, so I guess that's reason enough to give this two? But I have to tell you, the food here was just not good. We really came for the crab legs because the price was decent, but sadly, these crab legs were salty. And not like too much salt in the pot of water they were boiled in kinda salty, but like fake saltwater (my bf said they tasted like they came out of someone's fish tank) kinda salty. Again, it just was not good. The shrimp was decent though - nice and cold, plump, not mushy. But seafood aside, the rest of the food was just completely underwhelming - sushi included. I know it's a buffet, and I'm not expecting fine dining quality by any means, but even some of the tried and true buffet dishes were all just meh. I can see why this place is popular - a ton of food for a fairly decent price. You can definitely feed a large family (and feed them a lot) for much less than you would at most other places. Large space, service wasn't exceptional, and food was again, just not good. I will not be back. read more

Very bad service, the cashier very bad attitude, can't believe this , definitely not recommend this place

The location is honestly great but unfortunately that's the only good thing I can say about this place. There's only one employee or two at most that are actually very kind while the others lack customer service skills. The manager was consistently yelling at the wait staff while we were there which made the atmosphere awkward. They were also a little too eager to take your plates away, not necessarily a bad thing but sometimes you just want a plate for your trash. The sodas are very watered down and basically taste like plain sparkling water with a hint of soda syrup. The selections of food at the buffet bar have significantly decreased; everything is basically fried, no sautéed vegetables, hardly any vegetables in dishes that should have some. Meat was all chewy and Luke warm, sushi was room temperature, hardly any crab legs and when you did get some they were full of salty water. They made my mom and I sick less than 12 hours later. The only food items I enjoyed were the fried rice (still very plain and bland), the rice noodles, and the fried donuts, needless to say; that meal was probably more unhealthy than if I ate at McDonalds. If you really want nice Asian food, just go to the cafe inside HMart, cheaper prices and better quality food. Plus you can grab some other nice staples such as cheap vegetables and delicious snacks. read more

My 2 YO loves the green beans, broccoli & ice cream for dessert. Sometimes she will try other things here. I come for the oysters, crawfish and crab legs. Grandma loves everything deep fried (not good because we have to watch her cholesterol) but once in a while it's a delicious treat! Love that they serve reasonably priced beers and that a 3YO can eat for $5. Adults about $22. read more

The place is a bit disappointing considering the price of its competitors. The check-in process is not clear as to do we pay first or after? They kind of just stare and then you figure it out as you go. Food options are alright and by that I mean if the fried rice and lo mein lacks flavor at any Chinese joint- that's a clear indicator... Otherwise, I do not think I will be returning. read more

An Amazing food experience. I am new to this area and I have never been here prior. I love Asian food from the start but this was delicious. Such a selection, I definitely enjoyed myself. I do have to say that they do charge you by the pound of food that you do not eat at your table. Per person of course. I went on a week day evening and I believe it was $18 per person. To me it was completely worth it. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will go again. read more

Lunch buffet mon thru Friday between 11a to 2pm is $14 per person; my Gf and I went there today, a lady at front does come across not too friendly, anyway I think they charge $4 for soft drinks, we had two pepsi, , $8 for drinks, left 15% Tip, menu has been same for longest time, sushi Wasn't fresh, soup was lukewarm, and we ended up paying $41 with tip. They need to change menu on regular basis, and $4 for soda is litte too much. Fast food restaurants in general have gotten away with huge markups on soft drinks For long time; but this place charge $4 each...so if you party of 4 and everyone gets pepsi, that's $16 Lol read more

This was disappointing from start to finish. The food didn't look fresh or even appetizing. The sushi looked too old to risk trying. A lot of the meats were over cooked, dry, and lacking flavor. I hardly saw any veggies there at all. Even the egg rolls were suffering! It tasted like they wrapped mushy onions up and called it a day. We ate very light for eating at a buffet. Even if I did want to take the risk and pig out...the price was not worth it especially with the weekend pricing they have. Even after avoiding a lot of the food I spent the rest of the day feeling queasy and generally sick. read more

First stop in the bathroom and there is no toilet paper anywhere. The trashes are full. Stuff on the ground. Disgusting. Then the buffet. No sesame chicken. No fried rice. Orange chicken was gross. Went to try this buffet for lunch last week. They have a huge selection from sushi to soup. The sushi selections are quite good, all are nicely setup with lots of full serving platters. Before I get to the food, you need to consider what your personal opinion is when it comes to buffets. I love 'em. If you're expecting world class food, then you've already set yourself up for disappointment. But if you're realistic about buffets (open to unlimited servings of pretty good food, but nothing spectacular) then I would definitely suggest that you try Hiro. First, the wait staff is very attentive. Usually buffet waiters and waitresses will take your drink order, deliver your drinks, and then you'll never seen them again unless you flag them down. Not true here. Our waitress checked on us regularly and we never had to go out of our way to get her attention. The food selection here is really good. Several stir fry dishes, sushi, kimchi, vegetable and shrimp tempura, hot and sour soup, Asian BBQ pork ribs, snow crab, salad bar, and desserts. In two trips, I think I've tried just about everything. The only two items I would steer clear of are the raw oysters (duh, this is a buffet) and the fried sushi. I've been here twice, and I look forward to coming here again. read more

Don't let yelp fool you, 3 star in the chinese buffet world is pretty good. This place apparently opened up back in early December 2013 in the place where LD buffet used to be. They renovated the interior and put up some new walls. Everything looks nice and clean inside however, just like with quick fix and flip homes, none of the styles really match; someone just pointed at a bunch of laminates, stone pieces, and colors and said go. Anyways, it's clean inside! (even in the bathrooms). The salt and pepper shrimp was not crispy enough and needs garlic. Edible but also not very hot (temperature). Mussels with mayo and cheese were good but could be warmer as well. General's chicken is a bit over cooked and overall too sweet. I'd avoid getting that in the future. Same with the dumplings, they are far too dry as they've been sitting out in open air too long, Hiro needs to add a cover to this tray. Jalapeno chicken is so-so but could be warmer. The pepper beef is very good, but it too needs to be warmer. The pork ribs were mediocre and I probably would avoid them in the future. The chicken on a stick was done a bit differently than other places I've been to. Instead of having a crispy exterior, it's soft and has a teriyaki sweet sauce on it. The interior is still very moist; long live dark meat. The fried shrimp is bland and tastes heavily of oil. Same for the spring rolls. Both need to be fried in a hotter temp oil to avoid this. Probably the winner here are the green beans. They are surprisingly good. They have a solid crunch and good flavor. We went back for seconds. The hot and sour soup is a bit on the lighter side of the spectrum. It has average flavor but is extremely thick; too much corn starch. The crab legs are served cold here, unlike most other places. I will say that they don't get soggy as quickly this way. The legs actually snap and it's easy to pull out entire strings of meat in one motion. The legs are the smallest of the small though, so you'll need a few plates to actually get some meat. The sushi side of the house looks presentable however the rice is too cold and dense. Maybe it needs to be this way due to sitting out instead of being prepared for immediate consumption. Also, not enough rice vinegar/sugar in the mix. The fish was acceptable but certainly not up to the standards of an actual sushi establishment. For a $14 dinner, I have no complaints. The soda fountain is on the flatter side of the scale and could have the CO2 turned up. They serve ice cream cups here out of a little chest freezer which normally gets me pretty excited. However these are way too cold or have been sitting too long. Almost impossible to cut (not scoop, cut) into it. We left an open cup sitting on a plate and after 10 minutes it still didn't appear that it was melting at all. This review may seem like I'm being very critical, and to some degree I am however, these are pretty specific ways for them to raise the level of their buffet considerable. I'd come back even if they didn't change anything because that's how bad the chinese buffet scene is in Denver. If they could do only one thing though, it should be cranking up the steam tables, the food would go up another star easily if we got hot food and not lukewarm. read more

I have eaten at Hiros probably a couple dozen times, so it struck me as odd that I've never reviewed it. I guess it's because I tend to review places that strike me as out of the ordinary, either really good or really bad. Hiro is very middle of the road, but in a good way. It's my standard goto comfort Asian buffet. It's where I go when I want good food that isn't overpriced and I don't want to wait for delivery. All their food is always very fresh and the place is always clean. They bill themselves as Japanese & Sushi, but the reality is that they're a mix with "American Chinese." They have some Japanese fair, such as edamame, gyoza, seaweed salad, tempura fried vegetables (you gotta try the sweet potato), kimchi and sushi. But they also have Chinese selections, like egg drop soup, crab rangoons, pepper steak, orange chicken and so on. If you are someone who is picky, Chinese or Japanese, you'll still find plenty to eat here. They also have a ton of seafood options including crab legs, raw and fried shrimp, mussels, clams, baked salmon and so on. The Vegetarian in your family will be able to find many options as well. Their Sushi bar has nigiri but is mostly maki. There are 16 roll options available plus one in the tempura fried area. They fry it in individual slices so to me it's over-battered and not my favorite. The rest of the rolls are pretty good quality for buffet style. I'd say comparable to King Sooper's sushi. Again, nothing to write home about, but good. They also have alcohol, and you can get Japanese beer, like Kirin Ichiban. Their deserts are the usual Asian buffet pre-manufactured things like creme puffs and little square cakes, but they also have plenty of fresh fruit, jello and puddings. I would recommend you stay away from the ice cream, because it's always old, stale and tasteless. I think a good way to gauge the quality of a good Asian restaurant is if Asian people eat there, and this place is always full of them. Overall, I like Hiro and I think you might as well. read more

Just a bit better than an O.K. buffet. The food is not bad for a buffet and there are a lot of seafood options. The place is generally clean and comfortable. The price for lunch is very reasonable but I feel the dinner price is a little expensive as the food choices seem to be the same for almost twice the cost. What I find somewhat strange and uncomfortable are all the signs that you see when you walk in the door. Upon entering, you are bombarded with warning signs stating that you are on camera and will be placed on the "wall of shame" if you walk out on your check. Maybe they have a big problem with this, but there must be a better way to handle the issue than to threaten customers as soon as they enter your business. I have eaten here several times and will return, but it's not my first choice of buffets. read more
