The Sushi consists of basically California rolls .. definitely not real sushi that they have pictures of outside the building. Overall lackluster. My wife and I were in Brighton area and craving for Chinese food for lunch. We decided to check out Buffet City for the first time. Arrived at 11am. As soon as we walked in, I noticed right away their huge dining area. The ambiance is pretty nice. Place was clean. I thought the food selection was pretty good. The staff was very friendly and professional. She cleared out the empty plates off our table each time she walks by. The lunch price was excellent. I thought the taste of the foods I tried (see picture) was very good. For $12.00 per person, I can't complain. We would definitely come back to this place again. read more

1 star for selection. I think they have a good selection of Chinese food and salad bar and sushi and some American food. 1 star for taste. I think they have good tasting food. 1 star for dessert. They have ice cream and puddings and other tasty treats to end your meal. 1 star for Covid Setup. Happy they still offered the buffet even during time where many restaurants are under restrictions. They serve you what you want in a safe environment. 0.5 star for the price, but I can't give a half star. We have been Brighton for just over 17 months now and are still trying new places. I've always been curious about this place a d the word 'buffet" has always caught my eye, lol. But for some reason I've always thought it catered more towards the sushi side but I was wrong. I was talking to a person that has been in and around Brighton for 30 plus years a d frequents various restaurants around town and she mentioned this one so the next evening we went here. And honestly I was really glad I did. We went on a Saturday evening where there was no wait and plenty of seating available. Dont get me wrong there was a good amount of ppl ut no necessary to wait for a table or booth. Large parties does seem like a possibility. There is your typical Asian favorites from fried rice to crawfish, peel and eat shrimp, and sushi. They also offer Mongolian BBQ but unfortunately the items to choose from aren't labeled but they are pretty self explanatory. Deserts are pretty basic but who's really there for the desert bar anyway. Prices are reasonable 10.99 for an adult buffet less drinks. The only downfall abou this place is the parking , things are a little tight and limited. But as far as pricing and variety of food it's worth it. I honestly try to look at the bright side of every experience and the closest I came to saying something positive is that thank goodness my husband and I didn't get food poisoning from this place. Everything about this place is mediocre, from the food to the decor to the staff. The food is mediocre at best. I wouldn't say it was "disgusting" or inedible, but it was not great. We tried as many dishes as we could to see which ones were their "specialty" but couldn't distinguish which ones since they were all so "meh." The decor is depressing. We went around 6pm, sunset and all the windows were closed. I wish there were more light in the restaurant. It was just so dark and depressing, like there is no care or love put into the place, or that care and love has been drained. The staff is friendly, but they also look depressed. The staff did not look like they want to be there and only doing it for the job and/or to pass the time. If the staff don't look like they want to be there, why should the customers? Maybe the time of day we went was late and they were tired, but the overall experience we had was just so depressing. I would not recommend this place or would come back. read more

Yeah, it's OK. Really, I can't say anything bad so I'm giving 3 stars because the food was just as good as any other buffet out there. Choices consisted of the usual. Chicken dishes, beef dishes, and American dishes for the kids who don't like the Asian selections. I will say that the day we went there the sushi was pretty good. And they have a bottle of a light colored spicy sauce which was really tasty on the sushi. If you're in the Brighton area and have a hankerin' fer a Chinese buffet, check it out. It's been said before but you totally get what you pay for. Being a local to brighton I frequently get burnt out on Mexican food... and this is a good swap for a week or 2. The sushi is great all the fish is extra fresh and the Mongolian BBQ is where it's at. I personally do not like a lot of salt on my food so I head straight to the BBQ section and simply wait (maybe 15 seconds) at the counter and the same person come out. As soon as he sees me he always smiles and asks "just steam right?" Then quickly begins the cooking process. If your still reading I'm sure you can tell I have been here more then a few times and I personally have never been sick nor have any of my coworkers. I would estimate 100-200 total meals and not one person I know had any issue. Now the not so good. The bathrooms-aren't the best but at least they have soap! There are 2 Mexican restaurants in Brighton who do not have soap in the restroom.... enough said about that. The not so hot hot dishes-Occasionally if you come at an odd-ball time some of the hot dishes do look as though they have ben sitting but that's any buffet that is not super busy. The wait staff-is super hit or miss you can have 4 good ones in a row then 15 bad ones haha but I mean it's a buffet wait staff isn't super crucial. The desert-selection is meek however they make their own coconut macaroons that are mind blowing. Seriously I eat at least 5 every time I go (2 plain 3 with ice cream) Other then that it's hard to find a good sushi place and Mongolian BBQ all you can eat anything for $20 for 2 people with a tip!! Bottom line Is there better out there? Of corse! Is it cheaper? heck no! Will you be stuffed to the gills and request a wheelbarrow to return to your car? Definitely not! Went today for be lunch buffet. Overall, hit and miss but ok for a Chinese buffet. The place was very clean and most of the food trays were hot and replenished when needed. The sushi was mediocre and I didn't like the hot and sour soup at all. The hot pepper chicken, fried rice and lo mein noodles were my favorites. Sesame chicken and honey chicken were ok. The main good thing about this place is that it's not another Mexican restaurant. Large, inviting dining room. The buffet area is spacious and laid out well, you can get your food without being run over by other patrons. HOWEVER, the selection of Chinese entrees is limited, mostly a lot of MEXICAN/American items like pizza, hot wings, and taco makings. The Chinese food is standard stuff like beef w/ broccoli, chicken this and chicken that, with very little to offer in the way of seafood. As others have noted, the food sits around until it's dried out and lukewarm. We ate here a couple of weeks ago because we both got off work late, wanted something quick. After getting the bill for over $21 for decidedly lackluster food, we decided Pho TJ would have been a better choice. read more

I see people complaining about this place, but I honestly can't see why. I was also skeptical. The building used to be a Salvation Army thrift store and was disgusting. But finally one day we checked it out with the kids. They remodeled the entire building all the way down to the studs. The tables and chairs are all spotless. The food is all at perfect temperature and always seems to be fresh. The selection of food is about as good as any sit down Chinese food menu. The price was MORE THAN FAIR. I just don't understand the complaints. The only other Chinese options are Asia Inn (Awesome food but just too expensive now) and the other chinese buffet place on Bridge street (china wall???). Now that this new Buffet City is open I won't be going to either of their competitors anymore. As long as the quality stays as it is now I'll be a long term customer. The kids loved eating there and were excited that they also had pizza, mac and cheese and ice cream. The sushi was even decent. I highly recommend this place. You're not trying to eat at PF Changs, so get over yourselves if you want to be too critical. BUT I would rather eat here than P.F. Changs 4 out of 5 times. The food is good. I came in once for a lunch buffet, once for the dinner buffet and both times, I hated myself for it, which is saying a whole lot, since I love the ish out of me! I can't even say I enjoyed the fortune cookies that smell/taste like dried out play doe. (Don't act like you've never tried dried out playdoe, I would almost prefer if, after having eaten there) Twice I filled up a to-go box, and twice I threw away 95% of it. I like the sushi here but it's like pulling teeth to get anyone to make it. And when you do finally get someone to, they make it seem like a huge inconvenience like your taking them away from something more important. The rest of the food is ok not a big selection tho. But the reason why they are getting 2 stars is because of the cashier lady. I have a service dog and she sat and argued with me in front of the whole restaurant that I couldn't bring him in. She definitely doesn't know her ADA laws. Finally another waitress came and said "it was ok" but they sat me in the very back away from the whole restaurant. Ambiance was a bit lacking due to staff screaming at each other in their native language the entire time we were there. My fiance and I have just eaten lunch buffet here, and it was laughable. Disgustingly laughable. We bet which site would have the funniest awful reviews on it. Here's ours: The sushi is super bland, and they brought a plate of COLD (refrigerated cold) fried sushi out.. just no. How do you even. I'm a fiend for the fried goods, so having had my heart broken at the sushi counter, I moved on to try the spring rolls, crab Rangoon, fried gyoza, and egg rolls. I like sweet & sour sauce to dip and got some of that. Upon sampling, the sweet & sour is watered down!!! :(.... the egg roll tasted a little off, but with a good sweet and sour I would've chowed down. The crab Rangoon was sour and I'm scared I'm going to get sick because the cream cheese was definitely bad.. everything else was one bite and I set it aside. The sesame chicken was the worst I ever had. They have quite a selection of pasta salads. Warning: NOT mayo, some gross plain Greek yogurt or some such... Rice very dry, and the low mein was so dry I had pieces that were on the verge of crunchy... they didn't bend when I scooped them up with my fork :/ The GOOD FOOD: on the far right buffet, there was a small portion of this fried shrimp covered in sweet mayonnaise sauce. Partner and I went to this place for dinner. This place is a buffet so we tried 2 chicken dishes, pot stickers, egg rolls, crab cheese won tons,. The only prob. Everything was either COLD OR LUKE WARM. The only thing that was good was the scoop of spumoni ice cream. I'm not that picky of an eater, but my goodness, that was just plain garbage. Dept of health should pay this place a visit. i wish I had taken some pics of the dishes. The crab chees won ton were white and so were the egg rolls. They looked old, and they were all clumped together in a pile on the buffet line. Maybe they were sitting there all day? This place is disgusting. I have been 2 times and each time the food is cold and old. The soup has a film on top like it hadn't been stirred, the chicken is stale and cold, the egg rolls and pot stickers are hard, And most importantly the sushi is too fishy and the see weed is impossible to chew through most likely because it's old! We actually found a piece of long black hair in the rice we brought it to the managers attention and the said it was ours, BTW we are all blonde. They have very few items to choose from. read more

I was pleased at how often they rotated the food so it wouldn't get cold and how often they would go around and check on the temperatures! Well - much of the food on the buffet was lukewarm and stale - fried shrimp had been out too long and were nasty. Crab Rangoon lukewarm as were many other items. On the rare occasion they refreshed an item it was not too bad,. The kicker - they had signs on the main street side window that showed Saturday lunch was indeed lunch prices. When the bill came it was for dinner prices. Double checking the signs on the front door showed Saturday lunch was posted at the much higher dinner prices. Then checked the signs on the main street side and they showed Saturday lunch at lunch prices. Went in and informed the lady at the cashier area and she did not offer to make it right nor did she take the main street signs off the window. Will likely file a complaint with Visa for what would seem to be fraudulent use of their Credit Card merchant account. Very poor experience all around. read more

A chinese "all-you-can-eat" buffet (with a couple of non-chinese dishes like Mac&Cheese and other such fare). A standard buffet type restaurant where you take a plate and fill it from various trays in steam or cold tables. It also suffers from the standard problems of such an approach. If there isn't a large crowd then the food isn't turned often and you get food that grows either cold or over cooked in the trays. The food isn't bad, it just isn't like a cooked to order meal would be. Sometimes, a buffet style approach is ok, if the food is something that can you can keep in steam table trays for up to 30 minutes at a time and the staff is watching to refill the trays, but not keep they so full that the food cools. It is a tricky process, and it appears that Buffet City is still working on perfecting it, especially on Wednesday night at 6pm when there wasn't a lot of people in there so turn on the food wasn't that great. Yes, I liked their lo mein and honeyed chicken, but I'm not sure I'd try their salmon or other seafood. I hope that at some future time I can update this review and increase the stars, but tonight wasn't very good. read more

BUFFET SH-TTY- NOT RECOMMENDED For CHILDREN! First of all, I had a bad experience. The bathrooms were filthy! The staff took a poo, then after leaving , I noticed that was not a hair net worn nor were hands washed. The toilet was left clogged with a huge broken up nugget in it. I brought it up with the staff and they blew me off! My son is 4 years of age, as a 4 year old he a picky eater and all he eats are fries and nuggets. Not too appetizing to see a dark nugget and then eat in a place that serves nuggets. He was willing to try rice. I asked if they could just charge for a quarter cup of white rice. That was all he ate. They changed me full price for a kids meal which was $5.25, this place is a pigs dream, it is filthy and if you're heavy eater, pig out to your hearts desire! I am a Brighton resident and I was ashamed to dine here. The food was not very tasty, the chicken was dry and the beef crusty. There was no one manning the Mongolian barbecue, so no one could order food from there. It seems that the food was sitting out for awhile. Let's just face the facts there are better Asian places to eat. If you want to eat in a real Chinese restaurant and not a filthy pig pen then you should try the Asian Inn or Chopsticks.
