Sausage, blue cheese dressing, fried and baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked and fried fish were all really good. Salad was meh. Dessert's were very disappointing. Plates, bowls, and silverware were dirty. I used a glass of lemon water to clean them before I used them. This is one of my favorite spots to become such a favorite that the cashier at the register recognizes me when I walk in that's great service food always is hot out of the cook area all the workers behind the counters all seem to get along really well helping each other with what needs to be done as a team and as big as this place is, it's nice to see that people can work together as a team it's never too loud and it's just a chill awesome place to be whether it's just for a morning breakfast or lunch date or even groups for dinner or otherwise everybody on the floor cleaning our tables and stripping out. My brother and sister in law took the whole family here for dinner. For ~$18/person, it's not a bad route to go for a big family dinner. Not a fan of buffets, but it's ok once a very very long time. This place is so terrible! We can smell the musty carpet and restroom. When we get line to get the good i can see through the kitchen with wet floor and all dirty dishes everywhere. Not sure why we go to Golden Corral on Thanksgiving and wait in line for up to 2 hours in the cold. Must be the people. People in line are easy and fun to talk to and the staff there are always good to us. The food is mediocre and I paid $44.00 for 2 people and was out of there in 15 minutes. I know what to expect when I go there and I am exploring other options for Thanksgiving but the one thing that stuck in my crop was an off duty employee who was visiting. He was a tall, husky African American gentlemen who wore torn up, stained up sweats who drug his feet around the restaurant carrying to-go food, talking to and hugging female staff. When I ran restaurants one rule I had was that if an off duty employee came to the restaurant he had to be seated, eat and not wander around taking up other peoples time...ESPECIALLY on one of the busiest days of the year Thanksgiving. Ok , so we keep thinking a miracle is going to happen with this place, but, it just stays the same and management seems to get younger and less visible. At the main counter where you pay your introduced to one person taking your drink order, one person taking your pymt and 3 ppl standing around with 2 on their phones. Your not taking to your table but they point and say there's one over there. After your seated you make your way up to make your selections which at any given time may or may not be available. And honestly it seems like most of the staff could care less either way. There too busy flirting and harassing each other including the younger manager that I witnessed. They only had one person serving and cutting steak and you could just see the displeasure on her face. But who could blame her ? With all the bodies standing in front of the ovens you would think someone would help her out. Food had no taste as if no seasonings had been used. Clam chowder tasted of the metal can it must have come from. No seasoning in the meatloaf. Salads unfilled. The mashed potatoes were as runny as the gravy. This place is the dirtiest place I have *ever* eaten (I've eaten from a roadside stand on the side of the highway in Israel...), I wouldn't have stayed if I wasn't at a family reunion where they decided that this was 'the place.' The kitchen was so dirty, I honestly wanted to ask for a refund because I was so grossed out. I ate about 8 bites of mac-and-cheese, and that's it. I was so worried about food poisoning. It was obvious that none of the employees cared about the food, or their jobs. They were screaming at/to each other across the room, and yelling for each other to grab more good, etc. There was so much food, and water on the floor of the prep area I was gagging. You could see that water was leaking from something and puddling over near the drain. Food, utensils, water, all over the floor. There was a pan of brats just sitting on the rack in the open air, without heat or refrigeration. I could see into the back, and there was just a stack of meat sitting on the counter with pans all around it. Honestly, if you ask me, this place is a food born illness waiting to happen. FRIDAY Feb 27th 2009: Golden Corral dearest, We came, we ate, we are slightly disappointed... I mean I think I am the one who is more disappointed. Hubs as usual does not expect much from Golden Corral. While in Thornton area, I ask Hubs if we could try Golden Corral for dinner. Its an American ALL you can eat buffet. Pretty OK decent food. Edible. Nothing fancy. At least they have variety. Be it from salads, pastas, seafood, meats, poultry what not. It seems that all the food which is FRIED perhaps comes from the same batter since I feel, the taste seems to be similar throughout. When we arrived there about 17:00hrs, at least there are several patrons eating at this eatery. Lots of families with kids even with Grandpas and Grandmas. Does that mean its a GOOD sign??? They also provide a private room if you intend to have PARTY gatherings for families and friends. Why I wanted to go here for dinner coz they have the "limited" Great American Seafood Tour "food spread" like: * Hand-made Maryland Crab Cakes * All American Hand Battered Fish Fillet * Crunchy Hawaiian Coconut Shrimp to name a few.... Only after sometime, while we were here eating there are many more patrons waiting in line. Man, this place indeed is thriving with business. Its a MAYBE for us to return but that will be unlikely. We've been to this location a few times. It's not my favorite place to go but the kids love it. The past couple visits were disappointing. We went Sunday night around 7 pm so I expected it to be busy. Despite our waiter telling us it's usually like this every Sunday night, the staff was not prepared for the amount of people. Prior to paying for the buffet you get your drink that you carry to your table. The young lady getting drinks was rude, didn't make eye contact or know who was next. They ran out of Sprite, Dr pepper & sweet tea. Which isn't necessarily her fault but she definitely did not handle it in a professional manner. Our waiter was very nice & helpful. Unfortunately he was overwhelmed & visibly stressed out. I do give him credit for making the best of it & pushing through the craziness. Quite a good value for around ten dollars. Had a nice salad. Salad bar fixings are fresh and varied. Had a tasty piece of grilled steak, a tender, flavorful piece of pot roast with carrots. Some grilled brussel sprouts and a piece of chocolate cake. There was lots of other stuff that looked ok, like peach cobbler... and there was a decent looking taco bar The staff was friendly, efficient and hardworking. The place was very crowded for dinner.
