Visited here yesterday afternoon. This is my second visit and although it was good, my last experience was better. I had a linguine pasta with a cream sauce and grilled chicken. All was good until the credit card charge showed up. A $40 lunch with tip ended up as a $86 charge. The staff is totally incompetent with the checkout computer. Watch out for them. Recently moved to Brighton and thought we would try a local ma and pa place. The service and ambiance was great. The food was not edible. $51 for a unseasoned ribeye (btw I'm a women who can make an excellent steak), mashed potatoes and gravy looked awful and my husband said they tasted just as bad. I ordered a pineapple juice which can slightly brown looking definitely not fresh. The French dip was served with American cheese and the meat was super dry and chewy. The French fries tasted freezer burn and the ketchup tasted really bad. I really wanted to like this place because it's cute and local but I just couldn't stomach the food. I left hungry and sad. If I were the owner I would definitely reconsider your chef and some small changes to improve the taste of the food. read more

Second time here and neither time disappointed. Got the Big Dipper this time, which is a french dip sandwich with bacon and cheese. Fantastic. Got it with a side of pickled beets - maybe not everyone's choice a perfect side dish - but it reminded me of dinners of my childhood at White Fence Farm in Lakewood, so I couldn't resist. Folks say the place is dated or beat up, but it's clean, so all that "rough and worn out" just gives the place character. That, and you may just find the friendliest and hardest work staff anywhere between Denver and Julesburg. read more

One of the few restaurants in town, The Pepper Pod, is fantastic for just about anything. The unassuming exterior heeds nothing to the magic that happens in the kitchen. The service was great, but the food did come out a little slower than expected for dining in at 2 o'clock. Although they have lots of different cuisines, the menu is well organized and easy to navigate. They offer pastas, burgers, seafood, sandwiches and much more. Plus, they're open for breakfast as well! I'm a sucker for a chicken teriyaki rice plate and was blown away with The Pepper Pod's version. For one, the portion was massive. Two big chicken breasts on a large bed of rice. It was heavenly and so tasty looking that the table next to us asked what I ordered. Luckily, it was even better than it looked. Well very surprised with this place the ambiance is definitely Lodge/ old country and dark with heads of Buffalo on the wall. Very homey atmosphere but definitely dated. The food was very good and good sized portions I have the Dave's b&g and my partner had the smothered breakfast burrito. Both were very tasty, definitely one of the better biscuits and gravy I have had. The Only negative was the service was slow we sat for 15 minutes before anyone got is coffee or water. But the waitress' defense it wasn't her fault as she had a lot of tables .. probably just short handed like most places. Prices were very fair it was just under$30 for breakfast with coffee for both of us. Overall I would definitely return and try lunch and dinner. read more

As an out of towner this place was absolutely amazing. The food was so good, the ambiance was a true country western mom and pop restaurant. The service was absolutely incredible and all of them made you feel like you're part of the family. I would definitely come back. Great service, huge portions! Food was tasty. The only problem (which is not their fault) were the flies. We had to eat and shoo at least 5 flies at the same time the entire meal. It was very unfortunate. Not sure how they can control it, maybe some kind of screen at the doors. Would love to return not during fly season. read more

Since moving to Brighton we have had a very difficult time finding a good place to eat. The only reason I gave the 3 stars was for our waitress who was awesome! Drinks were refilled, she communicated that the kitchen was running behind and offered an apology. The food took over 45 min to come out. I wouldn't be as frustrated with this, but many other tables who ordered after us got their food first. It definitely felt like the "regulars" were treated differently. I had the fried chicken and was so dry it was not even edible. My sides of mashed potatoes and Cole slaw tasted exactly like KFC which was nice I guess, but strange. What was served to me was overwhelmingly awful. It was under seasoned to the utmost, appeared to be prepared in dirty oil with bits of what was prepared before served to me, the green beans were burnt and the congealed gravy had no flavor. The food was so carelessly prepared that it was insulting. I had never seen burnt green beans before this meal. Were these broiled in the oven? Note that the green beans still had the vine intact so they hadn't been properly cleaned. I abandoned what I normally enjoy because of what these folks chose to do to these poor beans. The service was fine. The way the tiny waitress was able to balance multiple plates for another table was formidable to her merit. Her core strength was impressive. And note that the paper menu provided at the restaurant is higher than the menu online and what they charge you is higher than what was listed on the paper menu. read more

I absolutely love this place! The service is great, stafg is always friendly and prices u can't beat. I've been going here since moving to Colorado in 2017 and it does not disappoint. During covid they did an option for family meals to be picked up- the fried chicken was always FIRE! also, drinks are not watered down (warning) and are fairly strong so be warned. The food is ALWAYS GREAT! I love the Fish and Chips. The portions are huge! The Pork Chops are worth the Price. The cut of the Pork Chop is very nice sized. I have had the Chicken Fried Steak. I had to bring home 1/2 and half of my sides. So yummy! I have NEVER had a bad meal here. The service is always Wonderful! Even when they are super busy the service is awesome. The Ambiance is Western with American Bison heads on the walls. It also has the history of the Pepper Pod how it started through the years before I-76 was a Interstate. Great place to stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Closed on Tuesday's. Friendly staff with generous portions of many food options. This is a frequent stop for me along I76 in Colorado. I read many reviews from people about this place. The food has never been bad (been here over 25 times). Traveling from Texas we wanted a hot meal. Pepper Pod was the nearest restaurant open. We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer. The chips needed salt the salsa was not our favorite. The kids had the kids spaghetti and kids Mac and cheese with fries. They weren't too crazy about it. My husband and I love steak so we ordered the rib-eye steak. It's a big piece of meat with a lot of fat. No seasoning on it. I had to add salt and pepper. The mash potatoes tasted like box mashed potatoes. Once again no flavor. The coleslaw was decent, the broccoli was eh. For what we paid I think we should have bad better flavor to go with the bill. read more

The Pepper Pod has been around what seems like forever. I dont know its exact age but my family and friends have been eating here since the 50's. It is the only good restaurant for miles. The food is consistently good. The atmosphere is great and hasnt changed much in many years. It is like an old West dining establishment with knotty pine, buffalo heads, arrowheads etc. The portions are great and the price is right. No fake mashed potatoes here and the chicken fried chicken is to die for. I highly recommend The Pepper Pod if you find yourself on I 76 or just take a short drive out of Denver to have a unique dining experience. read more

What a terrible experience. Food was barely passable (so salty!!) but it was really the service that ruined the service for us. The waitress was dismissive, inattentive, and just could not be bothered to tend to our table. Drink glasses sat empty. Ordered items were missing. She did come out with our side dish eventually. Me and The Hubs had lunch here a couple weeks ago after visiting the Wild Animal Sanctuary. I must say that I was a little hesitant to stop here since it looked a bit dated from the outside, but it was convenient and we were starving. I was pleasantly surprised. Our server was very nice and the restaurant is spotless! It's obvious that these folks take pride in their business. I had a 1/3 pound cheeseburger and fries and it was quite good. It came with the usual lettuce, onion, and tomato (and I think pickles) and everything was crisp and fresh. The Hubs had the Chicken Parm sandwich and wasn't terribly enthused, but said it was OK.
