Salmon Ikura and Hokkaido Uni Caviar Sushi Tacos + Toro Scallion Roll + Shishito Peppers
    Sawako Y.

We came to Hinoki for the first time for dinner over the weekend and absolutely loved it. Everything we ordered was delicious, from sushi tacos to other tasty bites. The fish was fresh and very high quality. Melt-in-your-mouth smooth! The 4 sushi tacos we tried: * Hokkaido uni caviar - more expensive because they had uni from Hokkaido, but it was so delicious! * Salmon ikura - so smooth * Shiso squid - good, but I don't love mayo * Yellowtail avocado yuzu sauce - very refreshing, like a summer dessert Other sushi and vegetables: * Toro scallion roll - not much scallion, but the toro was very plentiful and of high quality * Crispy cauliflower tempura - I'm not a cauliflower lover, but loved this dish! * Shishito peppers - good, healthy appetizer option We dined outside because it was so nice out, but inside seating had a modern, upscale vibe, perfect for cooler days. Highly recommend this Asian restaurant, if you're in Greenwich.

Solid food for Greenwich, though it was very pricey but seems to be the norm in the area for small portion sizes. The sushi options were good, and the appetizers were also very innovative such as the zucchini blossom, and cauliflower tempura. We also liked the miso eggplant, the miso black cod and the Greenwich roll. Their cocktails were also solid.

Came in around 5:30 and the bar was already happened. Had a really cool vibe. Definitely an after workplace go to step by the bar. The appetizers were so delicious. We got the lettuce wrap with chicken and shrimp and it was a meal within itself. It was absolutely so delicious and I had a beautiful crunch and every bite. Ask for appetizers. Definitely try the Gyoza, spare ribs, shumai, duck wraps, and the lettuce wraps decadent yummy easy to share. Fried rice is also very, very delicious and the ribeye had a beautiful charred/crisp that was entertaining in every bite and the sauce on the side or something I've never tasted before absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back to this place.

This is a popular spot in town. The restaurant has a modern feel with clean lines. This wasn't my first time but today Anastasia made it very special. She was very professional and extremely friendly it added to our experience. In the future I will request to sit at her table, as she knew the menu and helped us navigate. The food was outstanding. We ordered shumai with pork it was very good, spicy edamame, duck bun was amazing and calamari which was ok just not to my liking. My husband ordered sushi-sashimi deluxe and said it was so fresh the fish melted in his mouth. My son ordered beef udon and loved it. I went for rolls and it didn't disappoint. Dessert was also amazing and so pretty! We will definitely return.

Everything was very fresh. The food came out in a timely manner. I did not get a picture but my favorite menu item was the corn ribs. You absolutely must have them at the table. For being there at the busiest hour possible I would say the service was quite good. Don't be afraid to try the cocktails and save room for the fried ice cream.

okay Connecticut, you impressed me! Came here for lunch while visiting a friend who lives in the area and was very pleasantly surprised. Not only was everything absolutely fab but the menu was unique and the service was excellent. 10/10 would recommend

We came to Hinoki to grab an early dinner with a friend while we were in Greenwich. We are big sushi fans and was super excited to see a spot in CT that offers hand rolls! The miso cod was all our favorite dish out of everything we ordered. It was perfectly salty, although I wish it came with a side of rice. Personally I would have given this spot 3.5 stars if it was possible. Service was average, handrolls were delicious, and I found the crispy rice to be a bit bland. The price was hefty for what you got in terms of quality and quantity. It was VERY clean though which I appreciate, and it was very spacious. We did not have a reservation when we went Sunday afternoon, but we were seated immediately which was super nice!

I am planning a group dinner in December and really want to go to a nice sushi place but I know large groups and sushi restaurants typically don't go well together. Does anyone know if this would be an appropriate place for around 10 people? Thanks!

You'll have no problem with a party of ten, the staff and space can easily accommodate your group. I just recommend letting them know in advance or making a reservation.

The food wasn't bad--it was simply mediocre and underwhelming. The biggest issue was that several dishes were underseasoned and lacked the bold flavors I expect from a good Cantonese restaurant. The Yang Chow fried rice was especially bland and needed more seasoning. The har gow and several of the dim sum items also fell short of expectations. The steamed spare ribs and beef chow fun were okay but nothing memorable. The salt and pepper shrimp was probably the highlight of the meal, but it wasn't unique or better than what I've had at many other Chinese restaurants. Overall, the food was decent, but considering the restaurant's reputation, I expected much more. I don't regret trying it, but I wouldn't make a special trip back.

However, the rest of the broad and deep menu is excellent as well. The rich Sweet Corn Chicken Soup is sweet, thick (but not gummy) and quite tasty. The pan fried dumplings were outstanding. They were perfectly cooked and well stuffed with minced pork and veggies. The Honey Walnut Shrimp were amazing - plump and perfectly dressed. Finally, the Sesame Chicken was amazing. Perfectly cooked but the best thing is that the chicken was moist, rich and flavorful. So, if we're ever back in White Plains, you know where we'll be dining.

Also, early on, we had a little service issue that was tacitly resolved in our favor. We only wanted to order appetizers at first and later order the main courses. The server told us words to the effect that they take the order for everything at the same time because if later the restaurant is packed, the kitchen gets overwhelmed, and, also, they bring out the food whenever it's ready. As requested, we gave her our order for everything, but ultimately she was able to just serve the appetizers first and then pause until we were done with them before she brought out the main courses. My wife wanted a sweet white wine with her fish, like a Mosel. The closest they said they had was a fruity white Riesling, called Selbach/Incline, which turned out to be very fruity and delicious!

I ordered the black pepper filet mignon, cooked exactly as requested--medium--and it was excellent. The filet was incredibly succulent and practically melted in my mouth. They were very accommodating and happily made the adjustments. The fried rice also had Maitake mushrooms, which added a nice touch.
