I also took my toddler here and he willingly ate most of his food. I was amazed. We ordered the stir fried chicken rice noodles, spicy salmon roll and chicken katsu. The extra dish ordered was the Red Bull roll. All the sushi tasted fresh. The katsu sauce was delicious as well as the noodles. The ambiance was nice, clean bathroom and great service. The place was pretty much empty but it was such a cute spot, clean and fun decorations everywhere. They have seating indoor as well as outdoor but it's winter so you know, inside it is! . We were a party of 7, including 2 young kids. We were greeted immediately and taken to our seats. The waitress was soooo nice and accommodating, super patient with our kiddos and so polite, so before even ordering, we were so happy to be there. They do have high chairs for kids if needed which is nice to have as an option. We ordered diff things and all of the stuff was good, I wouldn't say it was amazing but it was good. I had the Tonkotsu ramen but it was slightly salty for my taste. The ambience was good, the staff so nice, and the price was reasonable which is always a plus. This newest addition to the SONO mall was not what I expected for good reasons. The restaurant is decorated with beautiful laterns and text all over. You forget that you're at a busy mall. Great variety of many great Asian staples on the menu. They have dumplings, sushi, ramen, noodles, and more. I was surprised to find how AFFORDABLE everything was. Definitely a plus during these pricey times. Service was great and very fast, but note that if you plan to order the mini soup dumplings they take a little longer to prepare. They are lactated at the best location right in the heart of the city next to SoNo. They offer an elaborate menu with ramen, sushi, poke bowls and much more. I am a vegetarian and asked for a veggie ramen bowl and to make it a little spicy. They got the ramen exactly like I wanted. It was delicious in every sip and every bite. All the vegetables were amazing too. The berry and mango boba tea were completing the food for us. Ordered amazing and refreshing Poke bowl which was delicious. The ambiance is lively and welcoming. The fried chicken and curry was not the best, the chicken felt like not real chicken as my husband said. They also customised this dish with fried tofu for me and it was delicious. Chiwa Bistro gave me my first introduction to udon, and I definitely was not disappointed. Their scallion pancakes are also tasty! Our new favorite spot! Surprisingly, better sushi rolls than many nearby places. We really like their ramen, too! The Mayu ramen is my favorite. I like it with both pork and chicken - the chicken has a bit of sweetness and the pork has a great texture. I also like the rice noodle soup. In comparison, Sono Ramen at the 3rd level of the mall is inedible. Chiwa's Kani Salad is really good! For sushi rolls, we really love the classic Boston roll, BBQ Eel roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, and Spicy Crunchy Salmon Ura-Maki roll. Unlike a lot of CT sushi places, I'm so happy that they don't add lettuce to their Boston rolls. The sushi rice has the perfect texture. I find Haruki Ramen & Izakaya rice to be too gummy. I also like Chiwa Bistro sushi more than Oishi Sushi and on par with Pink Sumo. I hate the name, but the Hairy Mexican specialty roll is delicious!! All of their specialty rolls sound good, so I look forward to trying more. I would stick to Pink Sumo for raw sushi. My husband got the Salmon Lover (1 Alaska roll, 3 pcs Salmon Nigiri, and 3 pcs Salmon Sashimi). He thought the salmon was fresh, but the thickness made it too chewy. We always come here on a weekend for lunch without a reservation and we never had to wait for a table. Parking at Sono makes it really convenient. It's a great addition to the mall. Service is 10/10. Their server is super friendly and attentive. Our toddler absolutely adores her. Decor is fun! He also really loves the sushi here. We all do. Can't wait to try more options. Tried a selection of dim sum, ramen and curry. Overall, everything was good, not great. The Mayu ramen was the standout - flavorful and the Kurobata pork was tender and savory. The katsu curry was not typical Japanese style - it was rather watery. Dim sum was pretty average and; we had the steamed dumplings, siu mai and pork dumplings which I am guessing were previously frozen. I also noticed that they put weird plastic flower decorations on the sushi. I don't think this is very sanitary since they most likely recycle them throughout the day. Families: be advised that there is no kids menu! I asked if it was possible to get a plain ramen with broth but was told that they could make it but it would be the SAME price as a ramen entree. The server told me they could "take stuff" out of the ramen to make it a plain ramen. I know that they recently opened but the server we had was not very knowledgeable about the menu. We had to repeat our order three times and point to the menu. He also pronounced siu mai "shoo-may". I have no problem with people of non-Asian descent working in Asian restaurants but at least learn the correct pronunciation of the menu items. No one greeted us on the way out which was kind of strange for a new place. The servers and managers seem socially awkward which lends to a weird service vibe - not very warm. You would expect management to be particularly nice during a soft opening to try to get people to spread the word to support their business but they were standing in the front of the restaurant on their phones. Probably will not go back unless the wait at Yardhouse and Jacob's Pickles is long. read more

The broccoli and cabbage were also cold, and cut of chicken was not that great bit fatty.
