Got lunch sushi, 3 rolls and soup. Was going to eat inside but lots of little bugs flying around at sushi bar so opted to site outside. Yellowtail roll was shredded, clumped of very hard and soft (gross) so didn't eat it. The other rolls were fine. I tried to let waiter know but was nowhere. I got takeout but was really impressed by the quality. I got the gyoza and loved the cook on the dumplings plus the taste. The sauce it came with was delicious. My only complaint was that the sauce was too little for the amount of gyoza. Would definitely recommend. read more

We enjoy coming here for special occasions. Hashi Sushi has excellent, fresh sushi and great Asian cuisine. It's a charming setting with a cherry tree in the middle of the restaurant. The sushi itself was fresh and delicious, on par of west coast LA sushi like Katsuya. I had the spicy tuna with crispy rice and at first it came out with avocado (which I didn't know, I'm intolerant to avocado) but they quickly made a new one without avocado and had a spicy crunch tuna! I chose this place based on Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. We were in town for a soccer game and after the game the girls were in the mood for some sushi. Parking was tough as there were no spots available on the street, so I parked in the back across the street in the bank lot, luckily it was 8pm and it's not open. Once we walked in we were greeted by staff, and were pleased by the inside decor, as it has a nice authentic Japanese scene. Ordering was easy and kids got the sushi rolls they wanted and those Japanese sodas. I got a a rainbow roll and a Godzilla roll and a bowl of chicken fried rice. The girls got California rolls tuna rolls. The total bill was $125 + tip. So, it's what I expected to pay for good food and service in a nice area. Very good sushi (and Japanese hot dishes) in the heart of New Canaan. I typically get the sushi and the rolls and it is always very fresh. Recent order and comments include: - Fried Pork Gyoza (4.5/5) - One of my go-to appetizers. Typically delicious but occasionally it is a bit oily - Steam Vegetable Gyoza (5/5) - My wife typically get this and she really likes it - Shrimp Shumai (5/5) I recently tried the chicken and vegetables - Sushi (4.5/5) - We typically get the tuna, hamachi, or tor and it is generally delicious. The only reason I did not give a 5/5 is because although the food is very fresh at this location, there are places in the city that are exceptional and it would be tough to compare to those. - Rolls (4/5) - Typically we get a combination of either California roll, shrimp tempura roll, yellowtail and scallion roll, spicy tuna, spicy salmon or some combo of the above. Generally very fresh. - Organic Basil Chicken (5/5) - I recently got this for a main dish and was extremely surprised (in a good way). IT was a large portion and was very good. Take out shush winners for sure. In the area this place and Tzen have the best chirashis around. The pieces are quality and generous. I like Hashi Sushi's chirashi better than Tzen's. Why? I was really excited for another Japanese place opened up in New Canaan. Went for dinner with a friend and it was slightly disappointing. My friend ordered Tuna tataki. I tried a bite and the tuna was very fishy (aka not fresh fish). And the entree was chicken teriyaki, I didn't try that, but $20 for a chicken teriyaki is crazy (only came with a tiny bowl of salad). I understand that they gotta cover the rent in New Canaan, but 20 seems a bit excessive. I ordered Agedashi Tofu for an appetizer and 2 rolls. Those were good. Interior is nice and cozy, but service needs an improvement. It took us less than 5 mins to look at the menu before the waitress came running to take an order. What's with the rush? It wasn't a busy night. She also came by several times trying to clear our table which was unnecessary. We had a huge table. She took my friend's teriyaki sauce when there was half of it left and my friend was still needing it! She didn't even ask. We were too busy talking and didn't realize it was taken away.
