I was really disappointed with my visit to Hing Lung. The you tiao was cold from sitting in the case all day, and when we asked for a hot one, they refused. Because it was cold, it ended up both soggy and dry at the same time. The juk was very bland with little flavor. The tomato beef was overly sour and dry, and the portions overall were quite small. The rice noodle rolls were too salty and greasy, and the chow fun was also excessively greasy.

Hing Lung in San Bruno, same plaza as Lowes's continues to deliver on Cantonese staples. The restaurant is light and bright. It's a popular place so be prepared to wait for a table. Probably best to call in your order for pick up. But I don't mind the 15-20 minute wait as I'll take this opportunity to run over to Lowe's or Lucky's across the way. I still order the sides GARLIC PEA SPROUTS or PUMPKIN W/SALTY EGG YOLK but with cold weather on us, been ordering CONGEE (JOOK) W/PORK & THOUSAND YEAR EGG and/or RICE NOODLE ROLL W/BRISKET. If eating in I'll also order CLAMS IN BLACK BEAN SAUCE! Their wok-Fried dishes, especially noodles are spot on. The staff is brisk and efficient. See you there!

Great no frills Cantonese spot! Would reorder the following: Singaporean Style Noodles - not overly greasy like some places, really liked this. Fried dough w/ sweet crisp - one of the few places in the bay area that I'm aware sells this, goes great dipped in your porridge! Homemade meatball porridge - the pork meatballs they make in house are a favorite of mine! All their porridges are delicious. Rice noodle roll with braised beef brisket - first time getting this and the brisket was tender and the sauce on rice rolls is very tasty. Pork liver stir fried with ginger and green onion - great wok hei and have ordered this many times since it's consistently good. The rice noodle roll w/ chinese fried bread was kinda cold, so not sure if I would reorder this but it's been good in the past. The service is okay but the prices for the quality of the food are pretty good for the bay area. It really hits the spot for comforting cantonese food.

This still is the spot we love to pop into even though the service is your typical chinese restaurant where they ignore you and are a bit rude. hahahah. It's a hole in the wall but the food is good. Prices have gone up considerably but I think that might be just how 2025 and the future might be for a bit. We just ordered the rolled noodles with beef stew and it's still as good as it was all those years ago even though the price went up and the portion is smaller. Will be back if we're craving something specific but for the size of the portions and the service we can prolly find another spot to go to instead.

Best place for good comfort food! We always come here for their fresh pork liver porridge! It's a must! It was my first time trying the beef chow fun here. I usually don't like ordering this dish anywhere but my friends wanted it and surprisingly it had such great wok energy! It was probably one of the best beef chow fun I've ever had! None of the food here ever disappoints! The service is a hit or miss but it hasn't been too terrible to the point where I don't want to come back.

We came here for dinner, and ordered these dishes: H.K. style beef chow fun, Water spinach with fermented tofu in broth, Pork liver with ginger and onion, and Hainan style chicken. Everything tasted great, and I highly recommend trying the Pork liver with ginger and onion! I don't see this dish on other restaurants' menus, and they did a really good job preparing it. They got rid of the bloody smell from the liver really well, and the seasoning was spot on. The texture was tender and slightly crunchy, and it paired perfectly with the ginger!

My mom wanted to try this place because her friend recommended it. I was thrown off by the Ichi Ramen sign that's still up when we arrived. It was quite busy on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered takeout and it took over 30 minutes to get our order. The worker felt bad and gave us a sugar egg puff on the house. The food was just okay. The fried rice and chow fun lacked wok hay, so I was a bit disappointed. Portions are decent and prices are average.

You know the congee is good when it comes out piping hot with bubbles! It was not too thick nor too watery! The eggplant was also delicious! It's slightly spicy but definitely less than mild spice. It comes with fish filet as well!

Good Chinese food! We very much enjoyed everything we got. Jook with Pork and Thousand Year Old Egg to start. It came out bubbling hot and warmed us up on a cold evening. Then we had Beef Stew with Rice Rolls, Chicken with Wasabi, Honey Walnut Prawns, Veggies, and Singapore Rice Noodles. All dishes were tasty. There was a long line on a Friday night at about 7pm so expect to wait.

This place is one of my all time favorite when it comes to their bbq options, to go or dine in is both good and staff is very helpful. The place is big enough for big groups too!

This restaurant offers consistent, good quality, Chinese food. They started from San Francisco's Chinatown and branched out into San Bruno and now in South San Francisco. You will see that the patrons are 90% Asian, which is an indicator that it is good home style Chinese food. You will not be disappointed in any of their dishes. A plus is that there is ample parking spaces in the San Bruno town Plaza

Came here for dinner. Ordered the BBQ pork over rice. It was okay. The service is average but friendly. It was okay for Chinese food. They already put a service charge on your receipt. Probably would only come here once in a while and came mostly to try the place.

Fish fillet (fresh) with eggplant with a touch of fire - looks mid but stan. One of my favorite veggies in the whole galaxy.

They are one of those restaurants for the authentic, classic taste with the fiery wok flavor! It is a staple. It is super popular and packed even on weekdays. Pro tip: order takeout to avoid lines! But there could be 10+ takeout orders, especially at busy hours!

Chicken wings - won't order this again.

It is so so good and the presentation is beautiful. Skin is crispy, meat is tender, wrappers are thin. They give you an option to have the Duck remains (bones and left over meat) to be made into a soup or stir fry and we opted for the soup. It was so clean and healthy tasting. One of the best places for Peking duck in the bay. A must try

5 stars - Genuine Northern Chinese Gem in Milbrae…read more I've been searching for years for a spot that does real Northern Chinese food without watering it down for the American palate, and New China absolutely delivers. The owners clearly know their stuff--Shandong style cooking shines through. We started with the pan-fried pork & chive dumplings (煎饺) -- thick, chewy wrappers with perfectly seasoned filling and that ideal crispy bottom. Not the thin-skinned Cantonese style; these are hearty and satisfying, just like what you'd get in the north. Their zha jiang mian (炸酱面) is outstanding--the fermented soybean sauce is rich and deeply flavored, loaded with ground pork, cucumber matchsticks, and bean sprouts. The noodles have that perfect al dente bite. It's the real deal, not the sweet Americanized version. We also got the cumin lamb skewers (孜然羊肉串) -- tender, intensely spiced with cumin, chili flakes, and sesame, grilled over real flame so they have that smoky char. And the sour cabbage stir-fried with glass noodles (酸菜粉丝) was spot-on: tangy, comforting, and full of that signature Northern balance of sour and savory. Excellent appetizers Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the place has that no-frills, family-run feel that makes you feel like you're eating at someone's home kitchen. Service was friendly and quick, even when busy. If you're tired of the same old General Tso's and orange chicken everywhere, do yourself a favor and come here for authentic Northern Chinese flavors. This is now our go-to spot in Milbrae Highly recommend--will be back often!

Unlike your typical Chinese Restaurant, this place specializes in Northern China style cuisine, so some of the dining experience may feel reversed. For example, they have a mince noodle that is served cold, but a Tofu Skin that is served hot. The English description are a bit off and they have a variety of frozen buns and other food you can buy to-go (they don't serve the buns at the restaurant). For the less adventurous, their spicy tofu, Crispy Sweet and Sour Chicken (breaded and fried crispy) and a dry noodle are good starting point, and for vegetables, their stir fry green beans is good (but best served with some rice). Overall, this place is not bad, but wish their menu was more accurate in the description/content to meet customer's expectations.

This place is kind of a hole in the wall with its self proclaimed "Texas BBQ" and location. Parking can be tough if the parking lot is full, and I wish they picked a better spot to open this shop. It's off the beaten path for most Chinese restaurants in the area. The prices for BBQ aren't exactly cheap, however that can all be mitigated since they offer AYCE at a price starting at $35 a person with drinks. I love their lamb skewers and chinese hamburger. Lamb skewers were seasoned to how I expected them - with a spice mix mainly consisting of cumin. I also like how they include a fatty piece just before the last piece, which is They also offer spicy powder on the side that you can shake on your order to make it more spicy. The Chinese hamburger was very flavorful and authentic and very cheap for the price - much more value than ANY fast food restaurant and a lot healthier! We also ordered a liangpi and cumin chicken, both which were decent. This place offers very fair prices for chinese BBQ if you consider AYCE, since I have yet been to a chinese BBQ place that offers AYCE. Food comes out pretty quickly, and service is welcoming, especially if you're familiar with northern chinese hospitality. If you can look past the fading decor, colored utensils, and overall hole in the wall vibe, this place is actually pretty good if you're from northern china and looking for a homely vibe! Just don't expect Texas BBQ even if its in the name.

It instantly takes you back. Comfort food with comfort vibes. This place feels familiar in the best way. The food was solid and satisfying. The salt and pepper chicken wings were delicious, nicely salty, and came dressed with jalapeño and onion. Simple flavors done right. I only wish the wings were a little bigger.
