We go here often, we order for pick up as well as eat at the restaurant. We do notice that the food varies day to day. Sometimes it is amazing and other days is sub parr. We do enjoy the food more when we eat at the restaurant, it seems more fresh there. We love the chicken chow chow and Matar paneer. The food comes out fast as well! The only negative things I have to say is the inside of the restaurant could use some cleaning and love, the bathrooms are a bit dirty. read more

Been visiting friends in Montrose and Ridgway for many years, first arrived there fifty years ago when I began climbing the high peaks in the San Juans. Passed the Himalayan Pun a number of times on 550 just north of Main Street many times but for one reason or another, the restaurant never had curb appeal for me at all. Things changed two years ago when we began visiting more regularly looking for potential real estate. One afternoon I said to Glenda, let's give it a try. Well... every time we went to eat at the Pun, the meals were delicious and satisfying big time. This last time a few weeks ago, we ordered both a vegetarian and chicken MoMo, steamed, a Chicken Masala, Tofu Paneer Korma, Garlic Naan and Aloo Paratha. We ordered all this to have leftovers for later on. I especially requested extra sauce for the Masala to dip the Naans into with delight. Parking can be a bit tight if the restaurant is very busy and the vibe inside is very comfortable, down home, nothing fancy, and clean. The food is more Nepalese than Indian and I usually order the entrees with a bit more heat. Enjoying a nice cold beer with the meal and Glenda usually orders a Chai tea towards the end of the meal. Just thinking of the delicious food here makes me hungry and wanting to plan another trip to the West Slope. Highly recommended. read more

Himalayan Pun Hill is very close to the airport, which was very convenient for a quick lunch. I called to order Chicken saag, Paneer masala, and Naan. It was ready in about 20 minutes. When I went to pick up, the location looked larger on the inside than it did outside. There are plenty of tables. Now for the food: The naan was delicious. It was light, fluffy, perfectly delicious. The saag and masala came with rice. I would say that the sauces were very good, as well as the paneer. The chicken was a bit flavorless for me, but the sauce helped it have more flavor. I'm used to these dishes being spicy so I was a little disappointed when I saw that they were not, but it was still a good meal. read more

Really enjoyed our experience here. We were hungry after landing at the Montrose airport, so we swung by here. Wifi is reliable. We had the lamb momos, which were excellent. Their fried chicken appetizer comes with an amazing sauce. Service was friendly. Ambiance is super casual but clean. The ladies' restroom is a bit strange, as there are 2 toilets but just a shower curtain covering the first one. However, the door to the entire bathroom can be locked. read more

The best is their garlic nan, freshly made to order it comes out still hot. Large portion best for two person to share only $2.99. I tried the lamb Vindaloo is spicy and sour which really open up your appetites it's best to go with rice. On my second visit I tried their mo-Mo, pretty good portion I think there's at least a dozen? The chow chow is flavorful if you don't want to try things you are not familiar with. Popped in for a quick lunch on weekday afternoon. Friendly welcome and seated right away. Passing the other tables I could tell food would be great. Menu is short and sweet - they have many choices of rice and noodle dishes, along with others, including lamb dumplings which I don't see very often. We ordered Garlic Naan which honestly was the best I've had in years - super fluffy, charred just the right amount. I could have just eaten that. Followed this up with Chicken Biryani which admittedly had been modified with peas and carrots but nevertheless was delicious. The serving sizes of both dishes were extremely generous - I brought some home. Service was very quick and friendly. The physical restaurant isn't high end, which I like because usually that means they focus more on food quality rather than attracting bougie crowds. Is one of the best hidden gems in this town and highly recommended. Yes it's connected to a liquor store in a small old building, but that just adds to the experience. We stopped to pick up a 'to go' order on Sunday afternoon. There was one couple dining in, and two or three people came to pick up to go as well. It took quite some time to get the food, but we did order quite a few items. My aunt is deathly allergic to bell pepper, so she was not able to partake in the samosa's, and we suspect she couldn't do the veggie curry as it smelled like bell pepper to me. This restaurant is under half mile from a Tesla supercharger which is superb! We were in the mood for momo's so decided to do a takeout from here on our way to Phoenix via telluride. The momo we tried were steamed vegetarian and my husband got the steamed chicken momos and they were both fantastic! The sauce needs to be a little more spicy but we loved it nonetheless. We will definitely try some more items on the menu on our next visit. This place was reasonably priced and with better quality food compared to the ones up at glenwood springs. read more

Ordered food to go after visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. I started with the garlic naan and the mo mo appetizer. Both were delicious and I really liked the sauce that came with the mo mo! I ordered the lamb masala and my dad ordered the chicken curry. Stopped here on the way to Telluride with my partner. I haven't eaten a lot of Himalayan so I was excited. It had authentic and hole in the wall vibes. Got 2 different chicken curries, some naan, and Chais. The food was ok, but not as flavorful as I hoped. After our first dinner here we just couldn't imagine there being any other food in Montrose as delicious as it is here. The menu has plenty of great meal options so we didn't get bored at all and both tried three different dished and a variety of appetizers. Between the three dinners we ate here we enjoyed the following: garlic naan (ordered with every meal), chicken pakora, mixed salad, Mo-Mo (nepali dumplings), chicken korma, chicken and lamb makhani, and chicken pun hill. WOW!!! This place is a diamond in the rough. A true hidden gem. The food is 10 STARS! Delicious, perfectly balanced flavors, prepared and cooked with care and attention. The outside of the restaurant is tired and run down, with peeling paint and a broken, partially missing sign. The inside of the restaurant exuded the same vibe. For example: - Server started vacuuming in the middle of our meal, even though it's prime dinner time? - No music, not even some quiet background noise. This sounds picky but it was so eerily quiet that I could hear every other diner's conversations. It almost felt awkward to talk!! - Tablecloths had curry stains on them, could have felt a bit cleaner. - Decor is worn and everything could use a slight refresh. Lamb momos were tasty with the dipping sauce, saag tofu was good but could use just a pinch more salt/seasoning, and the garlic naan was fluffy and great with curry.
