This cute little restaurant is like the little engine that could. Despite having a less than exciting exterior and a several month problem right after opening of having half of their road access blocked off due to construction, they've managed to survive. The food here is quite good. The venue inside is really well done. Everything is so thoughtfully laid out. And perhaps what's most interesting to me was that our host was willing to tell us about her culture and get to know us. That's special. It takes someone special to care about people enough to learn about them, even if you never see them again. I highly recommend you make the effort of finding the alternate route to find this place. What a wonderful surprise to stumble upon this great Tibetan eatery. The food was fresh and delicious! We ordered the streamed beef momos - flavorful and homemade, the chicken chow mein - great tasting noodles and fresh vegetables, and mango lassis - just the right level of sweetness. After reading the other reviews on yelp I decided to give this place a try and I'm glad I did. I got the Butter Curry Momo (chicken) and it was really good. We had to wait a little while longer since they had just started more chicken, but I would rather wait and know it's fresh than get old dumplings. The curry sauce was rich and creamy with just the slightest bit of heat, and the dumplings are just a little chewy, which I like. Not too doughy, and not too thin. The restaurant itself is very modest, but don't let that put you off. The staff is super nice and the food is great. The ingredients are fresh and hot, so do yourself a favor and try this spot! read more

I can't believe that this was behind my neighborhood, and I just discovered it from other locals after being here for more than 5 years. They make their momo (dumplings) fresh and to order. I now have cravings for their butter sauce. Very affordable, and one of those hidden hole in the wall mom-and-pop gems where you won't strain your brain looking at the menu. read more

Glad to have finally gotten a chance to check out Himalayan Kitchen and its dumplings. The (owner?) behind the counter was kind enough to answer our various questions, of which we had many because we were not familiar with Tibetan food. We ultimately decided to go with a mix of chicken and beef momos for the steamed and butter curry options, fried chicken momos, and chicken fried rice. The food was pretty good. Since I don't feel comfortable getting into the finer details because of potentially revealing my own ignorance, the momos were filled with plenty of meat and were juicy. For critiques, I did think that the skins were a bit thicker than they had to be. In addition, the butter curry sauce felt a little thin--maybe it's supposed to be like that--and there was a bit of separation in the sauce by the time we got home. Fried rice was pretty good, and I liked the use of whole chunks of chicken inside. This isn't a comprehensive reviews since it'd would've been nice to get the thupka. But it's a good option, and the experience was very pleasant. read more

The dumplings are sooo good ! Best dumplings I've ever had. Customer service was great the lady was so sweet. I really like the fries chili seasoning was perfect they barley made it home. Our first visit here. This is a great place off the beaten path in Smyrna. Really good and interesting food. Unfortunately they don't allow dine-in, so we ate in the parking lot, which certainly detracts from a dining experience. Still, the food was yummy! We ordered the butter curry momos - they were great. The curry sauce is very good and a bit different than the usual Indian curries. I'd eat these again in a heartbeat. We also ordered the Himalayan Special Fried Rice. It was good, no doubt, but not terribly different than other fried rices dishes we've eaten at other spots. Still, it was good and I'd order it again. Lastly, we had the shrimp chili. We asked them to make it non-spicy, as I've had some tummy issues lately. I suspect they tamed it as best they could but it is by nature a spicy dish. All that aside, it was excellent. What great and robust flavors! Again, I wouldn't hesitate to order this. And I should mention the drinks we had - the mango lassis. They were similar to a smoothie but not quite the same. I could drink about a hundred of these and still want more. Definitely get one! When I saw there was a hot and new Himalayan restaurant on yelp, I was so happy to see it was in Smyrna. We stopped in last night to grab take out and WOW it was amazing. An excellent blend of Indian and Chinese foods. The momos (dumplings made with love) were out of this world good. We got the chicken momos in butter curry sauce. I could eat those all day long. We also had spicy chicken chili, sweet and sour potatoes, and sha-bakleb (similar to a spicy meat empanada). I couldn't be happier about all of our food. Everything is made to order so don't expect to order and be out the door in a few minutes. Everything is fresh and delicious. FYI, there is a lot of construction on the road in front of the restaurant making it difficult to get there using google maps due to a lack of good construction detour signs. The best way to enter is off Windy Hill Rd and Roswell Rd intersection. read more
