We started coming here a little over a year ago and felt it was a borderline 4 star--cleanliness was always questionable (constant sticky floors and utensils). We've also started noticing a decline in the food quality; little things they do to cut corners such as extra breading on anything that has breading (like gobi manchurian, chicken lollipops, etc.). All the chicken chunks in their main dishes (chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, chicken home style curry, etc.) are all cooked until they're hard as rocks and tough as a rubber band ball--basically inedible. The tandoori chicken lying around is fairly dry, with the exception of the drumsticks, but they're all cool/lukewarm. There's also significantly less customers than there used to be, with a Saturday prime lunch time basically crickets and flies--we saw 2 tables in the hour we were there and it was empty when we got there). It's on the lower end of a 3 star now, but I'll give it the 3 due to the flavorful sauces (minus the completely bland home style curry) and the desserts are still pretty good. I hope they stop cutting corners and focus more on food quality, but I think this is our last visit here. We always came here for the tikka masala (my husband's favorite Indian dish) and considering it's inedible...I guess this is it. read more

Curry is delicious, perfect level of spice. Garlic naan, also very good! Service is warm and attentive, the dining room is spacious with both booths and large dining tables. Food was excellent! Service was excellent! Ambiance was kinda weird because there was no music so it was REALLY quiet so I think some background music would help a lot. When we came into the restaurant, there was only one other group there so it was dead quiet, but as we were finishing up a lot more people were showing up. Our server was very nice and attentive and we didn't have to wait at all. We sat wherever we wanted and he gave us water and some spiced crackers with dips almost instantly. I like that all the dishes are customizable, if you want it spicy they'll make it spicy, if you want it more mild, they make it more mild and in the servers own words "we can do whatever you want!" The Parmesan naan was so fluffy and delicious! It's filled with mozzarella and it came out warm and fresh. The lamb Rogan Josh was so delicious and flavorful as well. The lamb wasn't dry it all, it was super juicy and tender, it fell apart when I stabbed a fork in it. They do have one robot that helps bring the dishes out and there was an incident where the robot ran away with my rice, but it was actually really funny. I would definitely come here again! Fridays they have a nice lunch buffet. Both a vegetarian and meat buffet. Some good selection and most of the items were hot and fresh. Nothing outstanding but a good stop if looking for a change up on your regular lunch routine. Unfortunately we had to sit in a booth with the sun beating on us so it was uncomfortable. We've done takeaway and we've dined in. Both were excellent experiences. I'm a believer in "the simple things matter". Jeera rice for instance. A simple dish that can go very wrong. Moon does it well, and the same goes for their other dishes. The korma can often be too sweet, or lack spice. Or the roti, an actually pleasurable dish yo make at home, very simple? Moon Indian is the most delicious, consistent, and friendly Indian restaurant in the Atlanta metro and I feel lucky to live close enough to visit every week. This place deserves a hundred stars. I've been coming here as a semi-regular patron for five years and I've tried about a quarter of the menu. Here are three things that make Moon stand out in a good way. The entrees are top tier, out of this world, full of flavor and bring joy to any dinner. If you enjoy this cuisine, and you're in this part of the Atlanta metro, you have about six truly excellent options, and it just so happens that Moon Indian bests them all. The service is really good. They know you by name here, and they take care to make sure every order is perfect. The packaging of the meals is ideal for both transport and leftovers. If there are any! The sides are absolutely the greatest part of this restaurant. Every side, from the rice to the naan, is done perfectly and the would be the best part of any other restaurant. I brought a guest who loves Indian cuisine. We had dinner which was not at Buffet time. The guest ordered a custom meal which was not at all a problem for the staff and enjoyed it. I tasted it and yes--it was very tasty. I had the Vegetable Balls Manchurian with gravy (I chose mild spice - Thank goodness as I would have been unhappy with anything spicier!!) We really enjoyed the meal and I will try it again. Next time I'll go during the Buffet time so I can try a few different foods. We both had vegetable dishes but there are also loads of meat choices and salads-soups-desserts. They all sounded delicious and the photos of many of the choices the menu were great and helpful to folks like myself who enjoy trying new foods. Moon will see me again! read more

Ummm..... no. Ordering chicken tikka at most every Indian restaurant I go to -- including this one! -- I'm familiar with what one should get. Succulent pieces of white meat chicken cooked in the tandor and served with grilled onions. No gravy, no sauce. When asked by Moon my preferred level of spice, I replied "medium." (Again, I've eaten here!) I was baffled when I got home and opened the container. Carrots?! Sauce?! And whoa, was it hot. Like really hot! One might think they gave me the wrong order, but "chicken tikka kabob" was written on the container. My husband was okay with his lamb vindaloo. Actually, more than okay. 3.5 stars, taking a point-and-a-half off because some pieces were fatty. ("Lamb could be fatty," I reminded him.) The sauce was reminiscent of my Jewish grandmother's brisket. T enjoyed it. I didn't. Vegetable samosas were good, the basmati rice, dry and ordinary. While I would never get take-out from Moon again, I'd agree to eat in-house post-pandemic. My thinking is that I could send back a screwed up order, which is too much of a hassle with take-out when you live a couple of miles away. Not my nature to denigrate a mom-and-pop restaurant, particularly during these trying times. But my dinner was nothing short of disappointing. read more

I visited several years ago and the buffet was excellent. Today's experience was not good at all. The food was very dry. I had to request extra gravy for my rice and naan. The garlic naan was off, tasted bitter. They have a robot waiter that is gross and dirty with stains all over it. The actual waiter follows it around and does everything so not sure what the point is. Definitely won't be back. Pinch of Spice down the road is way better. read more

I've only ordered delivery so I cannot speak for the ambience and customer service but the good overall has been decent. I've had the Vindaloo, Khadai, and chicken tikka masala. Both the Vindaloo and Khadai are good, I asked for extra spicy and to me it barely had any spice but I could slightly feel the heat. The Chicken Tikka Masala could possibly have had a bit more flavor in my opinion. The naan is really good, especially when it arrives hot and fresh. Definitely worth a try read more

Very few options on their buffet, so not worth the money. It's also very depressing inside, buffet is in an empty banquet room and main room lacks character. The naan was stale, did not taste fresh. The tikka was bland, tasted like tomato soup instead of masala, needed way more spices to add flavor. The chicken in it was rubbery, why not use tandoori chicken, that was the only entree we enjoyed. Would have loved samosas to go with the tamarind and mint. Too many other places do Indian better, so skip Moon. read more

I came here for lunch last week and am glad I did. I had the Bullet Naan and Shrimp Vindaloo and they were both wonderful. The Bullet Naan had the perfect amount of butter, garlic, and jalapeno and was seasoned to perfect. Dipping it into the Vindaloo sauce was an amazing combination. The Shrimp Vindaloo was great. The shrimp tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. They were not rubbery at all. The Vindaloo was perfectly spiced (when asked for medium)...just enough to tickle the back of your throat without burning you out. read more

I hate to stray from the massive praise, and I also hate to shoot a business down given the COVID climate, but I had a yuck experience and felt it was important especially for avid vegetarians. Ordered via UberEats, which I don't normally do, so that could be the breakdown, but I ordered: -garlic naan -paneer + veggie Tikka -potato and pea samosa I'm not a tried and true vegetarian, but I don't generally order chicken meat at restaurants because I don't know if they use breast meat, thigh meat, and/or combination. I am aware that's my own weirdness, but I work around that by ordering vegetarian. UberEats arrived with no problem. The samosa was oily, cold, and tasted as though it was dipped in and out of the fryer. Overall, it just tasted old. The paneer + veggie Tikka was hot and when I took a bite, I bit right into chicken. The receipt from UberEats and the takeout bag clearly indicated the order correctly, so it seems like the oversight was done in the kitchen. I couldn't eat it. While the sauce was good, I was left paying about $15 for a dish I'm not going to eat. Again, I know people seem to walk away happy with this place, but I think I'll stick with another Indian spot I've found. read more

First off there food is really delicious. I've only been twice and there only seems to be one person working the eating area at a time, but still managed to give us great service and the two different people (between 2 visits) were very friendly and nice. The garlic Naan is fantastic and the onion naan was good too. My only issue is that both times I told them I wanted my main food Indian Hot. And tonight he even offered us a scale from 1-10, and my friend said he wants an 11. I told him I really like spicy food. I told him last time I was here I asked for the same thing and then had to ask the guy if they could spice it up for me and he took it in the back and it was better the 2nd time.... Still not sure that was Indian hot but it was good.... But same thing happened again. It just was not spicy.... I mean I didn't taste any spice at all. I just asked if he could bring me some kind of hot sauce out because it wasn't spicy. He did bring me a little bowl with a red hot sauce in it and I dipped my bites in that and it had a good flavor and some spice to it. And either I'm being lied to on what real Indian spice is or these people just don't believe me.... Not sure. Food is really good... but I really wanted some spice. Maybe someone can recommend a place to me that does real Indian spice? If it helps I literally have 30 bottles+ of various hot sauce in my fridge including the top spice levels from the Hot Ones show that I regularly put on chicken and also just eat on chips... like the Apollo sauce etc.... read more

Sadly this restaurant has changed ownership, and has gone steadily down hill the last couple years. The quality is not there. Will have to find a new place for good authentic Indian food. read more

This is definitely not Indian cuisine. I see most of the lovely reviewers unfortunately are not originally from India and possibly do not know the exact taste. I ordered chicken 65 which is a known south Indian appetizer and for anyone who knows the Indian cusine, the most important ingredient in curry leaves and spice in Chicken 65. The one they gave is sweet, with no salt, and definitely not chicken 65 something totally different. The quantity they gave is way less, it is a joke for the price (please see the picture) I called to complain and typical of the restaurant the guy started arguing with me. Please note less spice is no option for me to select the spice level, I just picked the item To the restaurant - don't take advantage of customers cheating in the name of Indian food.
