We eat here at least once a month and the food and service are both great. It's a tiny place next to a gas station, so one of the area's 'no frills, but we can cook' places that the fam has come to adore. Our favorites are the tostadas (bonus points if you can eat it without getting sour cream on your nose as it's stacked with toppings) and the tacos. The arepas are also good, it's just hard to pass up a perfect chorizo tostada once you've had it. The prices have gone up proportionately to everyone else and the food is fresh, fresh, fresh. Worth a visit! So delicious! We have driven by for 3 years and finally decided to order online (there is an app to order through) and pick up. I was pleasantly surprised! The sancocho with white rice - chefs kiss! The sancocho definitely had two servings worth. We also tried the sampler (1 empanada, 1 tequeno, 4 different arepas) and also a tostones dish topped with chicken, cheese, cilantro - wow! Everything was great! The bean and platano arepa was my favorite and I can't wait to go back for more. I would love to try their other dishes. We visited the kennesaw location conveniently located off of Cherokee next door to a shell gas station. Great customer service! We were instantly greeted by a sweet woman behind the counter. Surprised I didn't already have a review for this restaurant. I really like Cylantro's. The food is great and it's reasonably priced. My go-tos are the sampler and the tortas. The food has great flavor in the portion sizes are good. Service is quick and friendly. Occasionally I will get a singular large arepa, but it's hard to pass up the sampler which has four different ones. I'm really keen on the Reina Pepiada and the Domino. Both of these come on the sampler with a steak and catira grilled. You can't sit and eat in the restaurant, it is clean and has tables, but I usually take mine to go. Sometimes I don't make it past the parking lot though before digging in lol. read more

Ordered take out. Got a shrimp taco, steak taco, beef and cheese empanada, and the soup. Everything was good. The highlight was the empanada, I never had one like Cylantros. The beef and cheese filling was really good and the outer batter had a sweet taste. Great combination of savory and sweet. The soup came with rice. The soup taste like something you'd get from your grandmas or your moms house. It'll give you a cozy feeling from eating it. It's very delicious and flavorful. I'm such a creature of habit. I was nervous to try Venezuelan food (only because i know nothing about it) but upon entry the women there are very welcoming friendly and just high energy! One of the ladies recommended Cylantros sampler! Food came out fast! The empanada was cheesy and flavorful the beef aripa was my absolute favorite then the vegetarian one with black beans very high in flavor. I got the number one (the catira) and it was just OK. It's shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato. None of the flavors were outstanding to me. I like my areapas to be a bit sweeter than this so I wasn't a huge fan, but it also wasn't a terrible dish either. I don't know if I would feel compelled to come back. read more

I Came in with a friend who is Venezuelan to try out the food. Came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was busy. There is ample seating but when it's busy it could be hard to find a table. I had the pabellon, which is shredded beef, rice, plantains, and black beans. Everything was very flavorful, the beef was good, and the plantains were cooked perfectly (little secret, the idea is to get a bite of all the ingredients together to really appreciate the flavor of the meal). I also had the stuffed arepa with cheese, meat and other ingredients. Really good arepas here, which is HUGELY important to experience Venezuelan cuisine. This is a walk up counter service so don't expect tabke service but the staff is (mostly) Venezuelan and they are polite, friendly and knowledgeable. I had passed Cylantros a bunch of times and made a mental note to eat here, it's Venezuelan food which I was excited to try because I had never had it before. I ordered the sampler to be able to try a little bit of everything. Unfortunately I wasn't super impressed. The best part of the meal was the empanada it was sensational. Some of the best little tacos that I have ever had it my life! The 99 cent tacos are super small. You can finish one in two bites. Ordered the steak, shrimp and pastor small tacos. All are filled with cilantro and onions. 1. The pastor taco was my favorite out of the three. The meat was super tender, flavorful with a hint of spice. Wish that I ordered two more. This might be my favorite taco ever...and I always do Taco Tuesday! 2. The shrimp taco was next. The shrimp was really good; not over cooked. And seasoned pretty good. 3. The steak taco was my least favorite, but still not bad. The steak was cooked well done; I prefer medium rare. But still an overall good taco. I found this little gem with good reviews on Yelp and decided to try something new. I used Grubhub through Yelp to place our order - very easy process. Easy until picking up the food. There was an apparent language barrier with the cashier who had difficulty finding our order even though it was sitting there ready. My husband did not appreciate having her handle his phone to see the receipt during COVID times, but she did finally find our order. Aside from that one issue, we enjoyed our meal. We ordered arepas. I came here for the first time based on a friends recommendation. Lunch time on a weekday and I was the only customer eating in, but I did see a few to go orders going out the door picked up by individuals and food delivery services. I went with the lunch special described as Steak Chicken Pork or Fish served with beans, rice, pick de Gallo and three soft tortillas for $9.99. I went with chicken and it was really good. It comes with a red sauce and a green sauce I was told the green sauce was incredible and it lived up to the billing. The red sauce was ok, fair amount of heat, but the green sauce was amazing. I was very impressed with the food and will be back. The menu was impressive but a little intimidating to someone like me unfamiliar with Venezuelan food. I want to come back and try the arepas and antojitos but I wasn't sure what those were. They have a number of menu choices cheaper than the special. They have 99 cent tacos. So I could have eaten cheaper but my lunch was great and a generous portion. I have them a 4 out of 5, so why the 4? Well they are next to a gas station. Honestly from the street I would not have tried this place except for a friends referral. Inside the decor is nice but everything is disposable. Foam plate and cup, plastic fork. If they served this same food on other dinnerware I guess it would cost more. So I really liked this place and plan to return with friends. Unfortunately, my favorite place Arepa mia is too far from my current office. Where they actually have quality ingredients. Nitro-free ham, organic grass-fed beef for the same cost as Cylantros. On top of that, they have this creamy garlic sauce that can be eaten with. Way more options of add ons. Even after 1 hour round trip of having an assistant pick up food. Arepa mia didn't get soggy. Not one item was bad. Its crispy and not soggy. If you are in the Kennesaw area, sure what a great option to have. And to be luckily to have some variety. I knew the look but convinced him that some of our favorite spots haven't always been the best looking or best locations. He agreed and I'm glad he did because the food was AMAZING! My first time at this little restaurant. Cashier said that it has been there five years. Why have I not noticed it before? Maybe because it's a part of Shell gas station building. However, it was clean and surprisingly busy for a Saturday afternoon with COVID-19 still going on. Cashier was very friendly too. Saw a lot of good looking food on the menu, but this time I ordered Reina Pepiada, traditional Venezuelan savory creamy filling of chicken breast mixed with cilantro and avocado. It came with a creamy sauce and chipotle sauce on the side. Both the sandwich and the creamy sauce were very tasty. (I do not like chipotle, but I'm sure it was great too.) I was so hungry that I did a quick search and found this restaurant. I'm gluten free. In most cases the arepas in my past experiences have been gluten free. I didn't ask, I just ate. I tried to ask after the fact but wasn't clear on the answer. I just had to wait and see if I had a reaction. I made it!! I had the arepa with black beans, plantain and shredded beef. So good!
