I think the word "authentic" gets thrown around a little too loosely when it comes to Mexican food. A lot of places claim it, but you could easily argue otherwise for many of them. This place, however, truly delivers the authenticity you expect. Every detail was spot on. They use crema instead of sour cream, the enchilada sauce is thick and has a great spicy kick, and they stick with traditional staples like corn tortillas. You can tell they care about doing things the right way. Overall, the meal was outstanding--easily some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The portions were very generous. The beans were creamy with a nice amount of cheese mixed in, and the rice was full of flavor--you could taste the chicken bouillon, tomato, and spices in every bite. Everything was topped with cotija cheese and served with a fresh, well-done salad. All of that was just $12 for a three-enchilada plate, which is an incredible value for the quality and portion size. This was our first time at the restaurant, and it will definitely not be our last. It is a very, very popular place at lunchtime, but the service is quick. My husband got the enchilada plate, and I got the taco plate, both of us getting steak on one and chicken on the other. The meat is so flavorful and tender! We got a side of guacamole that was legit! We came here for dinner on a Sunday and it was pretty busy. We parked right on the side and was able to see our car the entire time we were eating. We did not have to wait long to order and I got 5 carne asada tacos. We also got a large horchata, which was really large and good. English is not an issue here and they take credit cards. Our food arrived about 10 minutes later, very acceptable for how busy they were. I noticed there were lots of people picking up to-go orders too while we waited for our food. I also took the time to stock up on their self-serve salsa bar. When my tacos arrived, the meat was a bit chunky and tough. I tend to like the meat more chopped up and tender. This visit, the meat was a bit dry and the Tostada De Camaron was a bit different than it usually is. The seafood is usually fresh and the perfect hint of lime. My friend brought me here and it exceeded all my expectations. The ambience isn't anything spectacular but whos here for that anyways? I ordered the taco plate which comes with 2 tacos and rice and beans and an additional taco coming out to be under $8. The tacos are on the smaller side, but you get so much meat that is flavorful! And the tortillas are probably the best I've had yet. This is probably the first place I've ever gone to where the tacos AND rice AND beans are all fantastic. The beans were nice and creamy and not over or under salted. The food comes out extremely fast. I probably waited less than 5 minutes. Now here's the real kicker, I went back for two more tacos. At $1.18 a taco you can't beat that. They also have a table of extras including limes, three sauces and a pico de Gallo mix. I wasn't a fan of the red sauce since it was Smokey. I know the owner and he'd be furious about how it has been here. Food has been so greasy and really fatty to where you can't eat it. Last time they gave us white guys hamburgers when we ordered tacos, found out when we got home. This was my first time at this taco spot I found it on yelp. I would say overall the food was pretty good but the tacos were a little small I got four tacos which was the steak, two pork, and the Barbacoa and they were all really good. I also got a side of rice which was OK not the best but it wasn't the worst and I got me a drink of Horchata and that was really good it was my first time actually having that. I would say I wish that they had some avocado salsa but they didn't have that. I went for the beef stew; it's low carb diet approved and it contains carne with lots of veggies (Caldo de Rez). My friend had the flautas crispy chicken and potato taquitos with a side of yummy rice and beans. Horchata is the best sweet white rice drink and you get one free refill. It's healthier than soda. It is highly unlike me to write a short review, and even more unlike me to write a review while still sitting inside a restaurant! But they have exceeded my expectations to the point I really don't want to wait and write a detailed account of my visit. I want to sing their praises right now! I had the Carne Asada ($9.99), a Shrimp Taco ($2. 75) and shared the Chicken Flautas appetizer ($5.85) with friends! They had the Roasted Chicken ($7.49) and Three Enchilada meal ($6.99). Everything, especially the shrimp taco, was excellent! Several of the regulars in line with me also made high recommendations for other menu items such as the Steak Taco, Steak Burrito and the huge soup bowl called the Caldo De Res (#16). Therefore, I'm going to bypass my normally lengthy reviews and simply say I honestly don't think you can go wrong with anything on their short & sweet menu. I will be back for sure to try more! This place doesn't look like much from the outside, admittedly, but I usually find that the best foods can come from such places. Their barbacoa tacos are outstanding; they're so full of flavor and as succulent as grandma's finest pot roast. The al pastor weren't quite as phenomenal, but they definitely stand out as well...although I will say that I missed not having the pineapple chunks in their version. Be sure to ask for some of their fresh hot salsas (the green and red ones), as they will allow you to make your taco as spicy as you like it. read more

I went to my car to eat and when I started to eat my tacos I realized something off on an onion, I flip it over and saw a dead. cooked. roach. Kid you not I gagged in my car and had gone inside to show the staff, they had asked me if I wanted them remade (as if I wanted to see another roach on my taco!!!) and requested a refund to where the lady only refunded the tacos. I didn't even feel like arguing but you'd think after finding a dead insect inside your $13 food you'd get more than just $6 right ? Love, Love, Love this Place! I tell everyone about it. It's some of the BEST Authentic Mexican Food this side of Atlanta. Since I am originally from Los Angeles where great Mexican food practically grows on trees, this has got my stamp of approval. Street Tacos are Great, Burritos are Huge, Sopes are Legit and the Salsa has a kick. Of course all of the meat that you put on any of the items are super flavorful and cooked to perfection. I'm a Carnitas girl myself, but I have also come to love the Barbacoa (BBQ Beef - as in charred off the grill, not w/ BBQ Sauce). My favorite little discovery is the "Mulitas". I have never heard of these before but to my surprise they do exist. They are the Best! It's like a mini Quesadilla made with Corn tortillas instead of flour. They just put Meat, Cheese, Avocado (big chunks), Onion and Cilantro. They are definitely worth trying once. Of course I did and now I get them all the time. As in all great little Mexican Food places, it's not fancy inside but definitely clean and very welcoming. Definitely one of the best spots for authentic Mexican food. read more

Each was pretty solid, except one time I got a fairly large hunk of fat mixed in with the meat. Yuck. Double corn tortillas are quite nice. Chicken enchilada plate is a winner too. Three enchiladas with well-prepared shredded meat, with a good amount of rice & beans. Excellent salsa bar. I've sampled five sauces plus the pico de gallo and all were tasty and a few nicely hot. Plenty of seats. Quick service of food. This is fast casual - you order at the back counter using the overhead menu (no paper menus - I asked) and they'll call your number.
