Best Mexican dishes around. Ask for the bean dip and/or hot salsa. They have Jamaica!

Genuinely the best burrito I've found in this area! Super worth the price! They will see me so often now. Servers and everyone else was so nice. And the ambiance is so good too! read more

El Nopalito - Jumbo Burrito - Mexican Near Me - Kennesaw, Georgia

I was expecting your run-of-the-mill Americanized Mexican restaurant (so my expectations were low) but somehow still too high for El Nopalito, lol. To start with the obvious, if you are looking for authentic Mexican this is not the place. I'm sure most of you know that you have to search for real hole in the wall spots for that. Finding one near the mall is rather unlikely. As one would expect, the food here has barely any flavor to it at all. No seasoning etc. Now, for what fell below my expectations... I personally feel like it's hard for a restaurant to mess up chips but they definitely messed up the chips. They were burnt. Literally. Like you could some burnt edges that were completely brown. The chips tasted burnt as well and were too thick, thin tortilla chips are way better. They'd be better off using store bought chips than just burning them in-house. When I asked the server if maybe we could have a different batch since ours were burnt, I was informed all of their chips are that way. Lol Menu is huge and everything on it is pretty bland so it's pretty hard to make a decision. Prices were okay I guess. Definitely not low though. Parking is plentiful since it's in a strip mall. Our server was courteous but rather unskilled. She got confused some when we were making our orders and also at the end she put one of my friends items on another friends bill. When this was pointed out, she kinda hesitated to do anything about it until we explicitly asked for her to fix it. Then when it was "fixed" she ended up actually adding the item back to the proper friends receipt and still leaving it on the others - so a double charge basically. Eventually the supervisor had to step in to fix the refund with it. That was extremely annoying. Just the most basic stuff at this restaurant got messed up. The booth we sat at was crammed. Candy was for sale up front just to nickel and dime you more and attract the attention of kids. You are directed to seat yourself, which I found odd. The only positive: their bathroom was very clean. Definitely not ever coming back if it's up to me to decide. read more

We randomly stopped in to this restaurant and it was overall nice. Food was super reasonably priced ( average combo dish was about $10.75). We went on a Tuesday and it was pretty quiet. They had a great drink special for $3.75 draft beer. Food was good we got veggie fajitas, cheese enchiladas, and the Burrito Mexicana. Chips were served hot and fresh. The service was quick since it was quiet. read more

El Nopalito - Chips and salsa - Mexican Near Me - Kennesaw, Georgia

Best Mexican food in the area by far. I ordered the enchiladas with rice and beans and it was great. Service was quick and friendly.

I stopped in to grab some lunch and the specials are until 3pm. The complimentary chips and salsa are delicious and the salsa was very flavorful. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, lunch portion, and it was huge! The shrimp were large and tasted great. The peppers and onions were cooked to perfection. The refried beans were creamy, and wonderful. I ordered a side of lettuce and sour cream but really didn't need it because everything was tasty. The restaurant has plenty of seating with lots of decor. The staff were wonderful and extremely kind. The kitchen chefs were beyond fast! This is a great place so come check it out! read more

This past weekend, my business partner and I were back in Atlanta for a training. Arriving on Friday night, we were tired and hungry. She decided to take a chance and try this small restaurant - are we glad we did. While I had very little appetite and just ordered a cheese quesadilla (which was super yummy), she got one of their Friday night specially-priced margaritas and that larger than life burrito. It had everything in it: cheese, chicken, sautéed peppers/onions, guacamole, etc., and topped with plenty of queso. She couldn't even finish it ... lol We highly recommend this place because it was crowded with older and young folks. Now we understand why. Try it if you're in the area read more

One star is too many! None of the food tasted mexican, there were no spices, no chilies, no cumin, no cilantro, no fresh onion, no salt!!!! Spices cost nothing, yet this place chooses to not cook with flavor or care. The positive reviews are really hard to believe. The meat is not grilled like the menu describes but rather pan cooked or boiled, it's chewy reheated dry meat of some sort. The inside of this burrito is refrigerator cold yet it is served on a hot plate. The rice inside this burrito is cold, none of it's contents were freshly cooked. The burrito tortilla was straight out of a package, no even reheated on a flat top, nothing! There is no effort from that kitchen whatsoever. The chicken in the taco was like eating dried out straw. I left that burrito, we paid, we left, never to return! read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. I believe this is one of the closest things you'll find to authentic Mexican food in Kennesaw. I recommend anything on the menu, you honestly can't go wrong. Now don't go here in expectation it's gonna be what you'd get at "paradise grill" or any other Mexican restaurant called "Mexican restaurant". No, at El Nopalito you get real Mexican food for a not so expensive price, expect spice and flavor. The decor is also just cute, it'll remind you of the streets in playa de Carmen. read more

Giving it 3 stars based on location & service. Are server was excellent. Food Omg the worst. Tasteless. I had a combo. Chicken & cheese Enchilada, chicken taco & Chalupa. Only thing that had any taste was the chalupa and that's because it had garlic in the guca. Even the chips on the table tasted bad. They were thick and tasted of dough. Not thin corn chips. Salsa was watery and not spicy. Sorry but I'm not going back. read more

El Nopalito - a plate of rice and a fork - Mexican Near Me - Kennesaw, Georgia

Was good when I was a kid, and it's still good today! Went in and it was like a time machine.

A friend from work suggested that we meet up here after work for drinks.... So we did. We ended up meeting around 6 ish, at first we asked to be seated on the outside patio, then later decided to move to the inside because of the windy conditions. Our waiter was an older gentleman with a very sarcastic sense of humor( that I did not find amusing at all ). He brought out salsa and chips and then took our drink orders. I ordered the first pitcher of frozen texas margarita and when asked about having salt on the rims of the glasses, for some reason I said, "both" then changed it and asked for one with sugar and one with salt and his response was, "you said both, so it's not both"( I mean seriously dude -lol ). The drinks were really strong ( I'm not complaining about that at all -lol -IJS ). After the rest of my friends arrived, we ordered another pitcher, but strawberry this time , he brought out only one frozen strawberry drink, my friend didn't say anything she just ordered another pitcher, she even mentioned that he wasn't very friendly. I ordered the three grilled taco plate , I was a little disappointed to know that it only came with refried beans and pico de gallo ( Im use to also having mexican rice included ). The food was just Ok, I don't think I will be making any special trips. I will say they have some really good cheese dip but I'm not too fond of the the chips, decent salsa ..... Viva Mexico has me spoiled -lol..... I guess all and all we came to eat, relax, get a few drinks and we did. The restaurant has decent seating, and decent restrooms, nothing fancy. It's located in a shopping center off Barrett Parkway... Look for Bed Bath & Beyond and continue on around and you will run into it next to a hobby store. read more

This is a lackluster just ok Mexican restaurant that makes you just want to get done eating and go. The food is not bad, not good. Nothing made it feels special or nicely presented. Service wasn't bad, also just passable. You check out at the register instead of paying at the table and again you don't feel real welcome to come back. It's not BAD, its just nothing I'd be tempted to repeat. read more

Best Mexican food I have tasted in Atlanta, and I have been here for ten years.

3.5 stars which was actually surprising. Went in today and sat at the bar which was basic, the whole restaurant seems basic when you walk in. It isn't one of those places you want to take someone who you are trying to impress, unless they have been craving Mexican food and your in the area. You walk in and seat yourself and chips and a salsa roja come along right away. Good amount of chips and salsa isn't spicy but it actually tasted really good. Ordered the chicken fajitas and they were also good, a little burnt but nothing to complain about. Service was great, the guy kept asking if I needed anything and was fast at refilling my drinks. Will come back again... read more

JUMBO STEAK BURRITO. Came here with the family during lunch time while waiting for my vehicle to be serviced at the Toyota dealership. Nice 10 min.-ish walk. We came around 13.00 and there were plenty of seats to accommodate all 5 of us. The service was mediocre. It was a while until our waiter attended to us but it improved as our meal went on. The menu had plenty of choices for the family. My oldest(7) had the corn dog, my middle(3) had the chicken fingers, the youngest (1) had the beef w/cheese quesadilla, my wife had the veggie fajitas, and I had the jumbo steak burrito. My burrito was probably the best I've had of all the Mexican restaurants I've been to. The kids all enjoyed their choices. Unfortunately, my wife did not like hers. At first, they got the order wrong by giving her the Texas fajitas. When it was corrected, it came a bit under cooked. Overall, I would rate it a 3.5 due to the level of service and the quality of food for all of us. read more

No other Mexican food compares with El Nopal on Barrett Parkway in the DSW/Hobby Lobby shopping center. I've had mexican food at about a million different places, and all of them disappoint me in comparison to El Nopal. They used to have a location on Canton road, near John Boys....but, it closed. So now, I go to the one on Barrett Parkway. The staff is super nice, and the food is always good. I love to have the white cheese dip (sans jalepenos), the salsa, a shirley temple, and the #7 taco meal with 2 tacos, refried beans and rice. WOW its good. No bells and whistles when it comes to atmosphere though, folks. It's not snazzy or disney like in nature with starry ceilings and mariachi bands playing. Just good people and good food that doesn't leave you in the bathroom for hours afterwards, regretting your decision. I always know its a good cultural foods place when people of said culture eat in that restaurant....and that's all I'm going to say about that. :-) read more

Back in the day when they used to be El Nopal and next door was the old AMC Theater, I was here. And I was eating. Child's plate #1 with a sweet tea. Mix it all up, throw in some salsa. This place is perfectly scrumptious, deliciously cheap, raunchily unabashed Tex-Mex. Yes, the refried beans have lard and CRACK in them. So good. Nice sized portions though so that if you come when you are hungry you will inevitably leave feeling satisfied and have higher cholesterol, but you will not be bloated out the wazoo. Do not underestimate this place. It's one of my favorite little nooks in the world. read more

To anyone who doesn't give this place 5 stars.... Y'all are crazy. The food was tasty, it came out quickly, the staff was very friendly, and you cannot beat these prices. Even though there aren't a ton of vegetarian options at a glance, they customized my order to meet my dietary restrictions without hesitation. I got a vegetarian tostada, and two veggie fajita tacos, and my boyfriend got the number 29 - a veggie fajita quesadilla with rice and beans. YUM! We will be back! Also, I highly recommend the agave margarita! So fresh! read more

Order chicken fajitas. No hot plate arrived. Looked more like carnitas, not fajitas. Flavorless. I asked for black instead of refried beans and the black beans were spoiled. When I told the waitress, she just asked if I wanted refried instead and left the spoiled black beans right in front of me. Yuck. By the end of my so called meal, I felt like I was going to be sick to my stomach. Disgusting. Never eat here. Ew. read more

I TRIED AND TRIED. THEY WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY NOT TO... Happened into this place in a moment of hunger. The reception was unenthusiastic. The waitress was incredibly not well informative and when I finally received information, it was unclear and turned out to be erroneous. The food was NOT GOOD and the constant "¿todo bien?" Got old and had me biting my tongue in order to not respond with the truth, which would have been plainly mean. NO. Todo is NOT BIEN! It's very malo. I ordered another tray of chips to try and get my money's worth and maybe fill up a little. IT DID NOT WORK. The portions are not good. The tacos are not good. The service is not good. The people who gave this place raving reviews are obviously not Latinos and the ones who are, are out of their loco minds. I walked into this place in a moment of hunger. I walked out of that place with less money in my checking account and still hungry. Needless to say: NO MÁS. read more

I can't recommend this place enough. The food is always hot and fresh, it comes out almost immediately and the prices are great. I don't know what the people making low reviews are talking about. This place is great! The salsa and queso are really good, I always take note of the few great places for salsa and queso, most don't have both that are this good! The service was just fine, the guy was quick and attentive. I simply had to look at him from the other side of the room and he came over quickly to refill the chips or get an additional order. The food was really good. Best chile relleno I have had since moving to Atlanta. Granted, it was a mess on the plate compared to the normal stuffed pepper. But the flavor was awesome, multiple blends of cheeses. Most things on the menu are al a carte, so you have to ask for sides and so forth. So unlike some of the reviews who were stunned by this. Read the menu....duh! read more

Very solid Mexican food at a good price. I had the chile relleno, burrito, and taco combination. The real star was the chile relleno!

Tried El Nopalito this past Saturday for the first time and overall wasn't very impressed by the food. We got a pitcher of House Margaritas ($12.00), Cheese Dip ($3), and then a combination platter (including a burrito, chile relleno, and enchilada - $7.20), and a Spinach Quesadilla. The combination dinner was very hot (temperature), but the chile relleno was not very good at all. It tasted of very low quality beef with a high fat percentage (75/25) and there was barely any pepper making up the dish. The burrito and enchilada were decent, but probably just average. The cheese dip was quite runny and very difficult to keep on the chips. And on that note, the chips were sub par, not stale, but not particularly good either. The salsa was mediocre as well. Not particularly tasty, but not the worst I've had before. The margaritas were good and well-priced. You could actually taste the tequila to some degree, which means they didn't skimp on the liquor. The service was a bit slow, but fortunately we had the margaritas to tide us over. Now they did have outdoor seating, which doesn't occur with many Mexican restaurants, however, it was entirely too hot to sit outside. The view however is the parking lot in front of Hobby Lobby. I did note that the beer was reasonably priced at maybe $4.95 for a 32oz. Dos Equis. Not sure that I'd go back since there may be better Mexican in the immediate vicinity, but we'll see. read more

Awful Mexican food. Seriously! Drinks are cheap, but it's not enough to bring me back to this place. Boyfriend and I came in here the night before leaving on vacation because we didn't have any food in the house. From the parking lot, we could see there were plenty of people in there, but I'm not sure why they like this place so much. The food was mediocre, and overpriced for the quality, and awful presentation. I order a combo plate with a taco, chalupa and chile relleno, but I ended up getting a pile of mush. I've had chile rellenos from other Mexican places (like La Parilla) and know what it should look like: a bell pepper fried whole with yummy stuff inside. Instead I got a pile of yellow mush (cheese and breading combined), with a few bell pepper pieces scattered throughout. It was so unappetizing to look at, and it ruined the corn tortilla that my chalupa sat on! My plate was one big yellow mess with a taco on top. The flavors were okay, when I dipped the chips into the plate. Overall, I was really disappointed. Boyfriend got the tacos al pastor and liked them okay. Overall, we don't have anything to come back for, so we won't. Also, their salads are basically a bag of shredded iceberg lettuce with the same tomato slices and cheese they serve on the tacos. Don't waste your money. read more
