Ordered take out from our favorite sit down Mexican restaurant and tried something new from the menu. The fajita taco salad Texas was so good. It's fully loaded with chicken, steak, shrimp, fajita veggies, and the usual toppings. Normally when we dine in the service is real good. The waitstaff is very attentive and prompt to your request. We've never had to wait too long on refills or our food once we placed our order. The inside of the restaurant is very casual and family friendly. El Nopal is one of those restaurants you just become a part of. Very well made dishes at a price that doesn't make your heart go Boom Boom when the check comes. Never had an issue with any order, and dishes are prepared with care. The only thing is,...the dish carts have hard wheels, and are noisy when pushed around the restaurant, but that's it. The food was cold. The chips with the salsa were burnt looking. The steak burrito special was chewy. And who puts lettuce in a hot burrito? The enchilada special was not good. I have eaten at your restaurant many times over the last 5 years. The food has become mediocre and at least normally service is very prompt, friendly and helpful. Not today at 830pm. Young male was courteous but about it. Not prompt. Definitely not friendly. And did things like refill iced tea with absolutely no ice. But was prompt on do you want check now when I was still eating. Your restaurant is convenient to my work and my house. But maybe it's time to drive a few minutes for better food and better service employees at other Mexican restaurants. I have yet to step foot in this restaurant but I am currently in isolation sick with Covid. Looking for some non canned soup found this place via yelp. I can't taste anything and everything makes me nauseous until my son brought me this soup. I have eaten it 2 days in a row. The only thing that has stayed down. I can't really taste it but it doesn't taste like 'electricity' like everything else I put in my mouth. Thank You for making something my body is accepting. Was in the mood for Mexican food and I found myself here. I was greeted promptly and seated. My server Michele was courteous. The food was good, but the rice was cold and a bit over seasoned. The flautas Verdes was ok, I could really taste the lime but, salty. The taco salad was delicious and hot. It's been our family's go-to Mexican restaurant for years now. Food, drinks, service - all great.

Placed an order for pick up. When we got home, order was wrong. Ordered chicken tacos got beef, and a simple steak burrito but the one i got was totally covered in cheese sauce. Called and talked to "Jonathan" to let him know order was wrong. My plan was to take back the food and get my correct order. Well he then proceeded to tell me "next time you order, I recommend you look at the menu instead of ordering a la carte." When I repeated what he just said to me he tried to tell me he didn't just say that. I asked for a manager, he refused and proceeded to tell me he was the manager. Then after I went off in Spanish he finally fessed up that he was the owner's son. The entire time he refused to let me talk to anyone else and continued to talk over me as if I was in the wrong. Instead of stepping away from the situation and de escalating it, he made it a million times worse by acting like he was the highest in command. His condescending tone was completely unacceptable. I did finally get a refund for the incorrect items. I did advise he take some management classes to learn how to talk to customers (he sounded incredibly young). Forgot to mention he said his dad's name was Juan and was only there a few times a month and the other manager Hector wouldn't be able to do anything for me because he was lower in the chain of command. I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. there are many Mexican restaurants to choose from in the area. I highly recommend any other one. read more

Sopa de Pollo - OMG Huuuuge and plentiful pieces of chicken in this incredible and hearty soup! There is no chicken soup anywhere that comes even close to the chicken soup here (sorry, Mom). So good that we don't order anything else from here or even bother looking at the menu! (BTW, I've eaten here for years and all the food is great)... we get ours without rice, a side order of chorizo (throw that in there), extra avocado and fresh jalapeños and a hearty squeeze of lime right before eating!!!... If I could give this place 10 stars (out of 5), I would! Makes for an excellent "to-go" order too! read more

Jesus I've had good food in this area today. Taquitos = amazing. Plenty of guac. Great chicken. A+. Al pastor tacos = god. SO good! Hot sauce = maybe the best I've ever had. Not nuclear, but just incredible. Customer service = top notch. Place was super busy and I asked a couple people for extra hot sauce on a to go order. Someone saw me on my way to my car and followed me out to give it to me. Best Mexican food I've had in some time. WILL be back. read more

I saw the reviews for this place, and I was dying for some good Mexican food so me and boyfriend decided on El nopal for a date night. This place is your classic looking Mexican restaurant with decorative theme inside and outside. There is music and sports going on inside. Free chips and salsa at the table of course. I ordered the carne asade, and it was delicious. My steak was cooked all the way, yet so tender and and juicy with a ton of flavor. It came with rice and beans, lettuce tomato, corn tortillas and guac. Sooo great and so much food that I had a whole meal left over for lunch to bring to work. The prices were so affordable I didn't pay more than $12 for that meal. I really want to try their chicken tortilla soup the next time I go. The service was good, she was attentive, and our orders came out fast and hot. I could tell this place get more business in the day time but when I went there weren't many people there and they were definitely up to code for COVID. read more

I used to love El Nopal, I delivered to them in the past and told everyone how clean and fresh the food was. it was always my go to Mexican restaurant but it seems they are loosing their consistency. I ordered food to go and we are only 5 minutes from the store and the food was soggy and cold when we received it. They told us it would be ready in 10 minutes and we got there in 15 minutes so its our fault its cold.... I asked them to remake the food and they did after I returned the cold food back to them only to receive soggy poor quality food a second time. I would not recommend this restaurant and we'll be trying a New Mexican place in the future. El Nopal is washed up! read more

Kind of disappointed by how the manager treated me. My friend ordered a drink and I went to finish it and instead of quietly asking to see my ID, the manager very quickly walked up to my table and loudly asked me to "not drink that". I am 22 and I would have showed my ID with no hesitation but he said it loud enough that the restaurant got quiet. Can i just say, El Nopal is so under appreciated! This was my place for almost the majority of my adolescence and is still pumping out consistently good food as i attend as an "adult." Why they only have like 50 reviews on Yelp is beyond me. Get on the El Nopal train ya'll! Their prices are arguably more reasonable than their counterparts (i.e. La Parilla or Huey Luey's), and the food is (*insert fire emoji and ok hand emoji*) The service is always top notch, being seated quickly with chips and salsa on the table in seconds. Speaking of salsa, theirs is the best salsa from any Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. So good i contemplate asking for a bottle for at home use. And their iced tea? Boiii their iced tea is so good! I know it's such an odd thing to love about a Mexican restaurant, but man it's great. Almost everything on their menu is worth trying. For appetizers we usually get either the El Nopal Dip or the fresh guacamole. El Nopal Dip is cheese dip with ground beef and pico de gallo mixed in. It's hearty and could almost be enjoyed as your meal. Some of my favorite entrees are the California Burrito, chicken (pictured), Carnitas Dinner, Tony's Dinner, and their chicken soup (especially if you're feeling under the weather). The restaurant is always clean and they have many televisions, usually on ESPN or the like, for your entertainment. Great place! Give it a try one day if you get tired of LP. read more

We waited some time for a host/hostess to seat us when we arrived but the station was empty. This was initially offputting until we found out two people called off work and our server had to work seating people, doing the chips, waiting tables and bussing them! I got the Huevos Rancheros which were cooked perfectly, had a tasty sauce and even the refried beans had a great flavor, not the typical bland ones. My boyfriend got California burrito and it was HUGE. He ate half and took the other half home. Only because it was so much food, not because there was anything wrong with it. He said it was fantastic! I noticed the laminated menu could have been wiped clean. Had some dried food on it. Menus in general are pretty gross when you think about it at ANY restaurant with all the hands all over them but really bad when you can see dried things on it. Maybe I watch too much Dr. Oz! Otherwise our server, Stephen, was great even though he was doing several people's job. Always tip a good server when they do well! We will be back to try other menu items. read more
