Chicken Tikka Masala and veggie samosa on basmati rice with green condiment sauce
Page T.

**NEW LOCATION** 442 Uluniu Street. Same phone 808-262-1800. Much larger space with tables and seating somewhat similar to what Tokoname (the previous tenant) had. The vibe is a bit more upscale but the prices seem the same. I ordered takeout: chicken tikka masala and veggie samosas. It came with basmati rice and little containers of a green sauce, which I think has coriander and yogurt. The chicken was very tender and all was yummy. The estimated time was 20 minutes and it was about that long but I arrived later than that so am not sure. But it wasn't 45-60 minutes like at the old Kailua shopping center location. (And no chicken roaming around inside, lol.) It wasn't busy as it just opened in the new spot and there is lots of street parking on Sundays. (Whatever you do, don't park in the lane that leads to houses.) There was a party of four enjoying their dinner--without me asking, one of the men told me the food was great. Hope this quality keeps up after business picks up. I posted pics of the menu but those are available on their website.

Had lunch here. Food came out quickly, the staff working there was nice, and prices for the lunch special are reasonable. You get a ton off food so you could probably split it into two meals. I was the only person dining in but there were plenty of takeout orders. As for the food, I got the chicken tikka plate and some plain naan. The chicken was tender and flavored well, the curry was also tasty. The naan paired well with it all. The basmati rice was a little bland though. But that's minor. Overall, a good experience.

This review is based on my past experience and whether I can make something better at home. This place seems to have a great takeout business. There's not much seating, except for a couple of tables outside the restaurant. The gentleman running the place is super friendly. As for the food, I found it to be hit or miss. The Himalayan curry was very tasty, but the chicken tandoori was very disappointing. The tandoori locked any sort of flavor and it was dry. I was really looking forward to having a good tandoori, which I haven't had in a very long time. The chaat and naan were well made, but the basmati rice wasn't prepared to standard. I make basmati all the time so please take that with a grain of salt.

Yes can do .., just not in the menu .. but if asked yes we can Do it .. you can text at 808--358-7158 if any questions too regarding the Menu

How are they with food allergy concerns?

We are cooked to order. We are very concerned and we cooked according to our customer service list.

Are there certain hours to call to place a take out order?

I called fairly regularly from 5-6:30 this evening (Monday) and got no response. I was really craving Indian food so finally my husband and I drove over. The restaurant was completely dark and there were no signs...have you shut down? There was no…

Why is it called Himalayan kitchen? Dishes sound like Indian dishes. Do they have Mongolian dumplings?

No Mongolian dumplings. They do have a few curries and dishes that are not traditionally Indian, but most of the menu is very similar to Indian food.

They dont do fancy-schmancy stuff with a shaving of onion over the top of half an entrees worth of food then drizzle the plate with a design and smear it before charging you an arm and a leg. No sir. This place feeds tou and feeds you well. The serving size is enough to have you waddle down the steps and out to your vehicle. I ALWAYS fill the table with food, even when it is just me dining in. Freezing the leftovers has become a magical part of the experience. From the Samosas to the Momos (dumplings) to the tikka masala. I had a BBQ chicken on the bone (tandori) and it came on a hot griddle with onions carrots, green squash and tomatoes. The garlic naan is so delicious, but dip it in that sauce that coats the tikka masala and you will thank me later. The mango smoothie (Lassi) is amazing everything. They have 4 areas to sit in: Main dining area, balcony seating. An area that I will call the inner courtyard and a brightly lit room right off the courtyard (which is where I like to sit so my photos come out better lit). There really isn't a bad choice. Parking is abundant right outside in the pay lot, but we have found parking nearby for free. The service here has never been less than as amazing as the flavors upon the table. Local or tourist, I highly recommend this place to all.

Maybe not the best ambiance as we sat in the parking garage as cars drove by, but that didn't stop me from loving my food. Service was good, food came out fresh and hot so I can't complain. I was craving a coffee, as I was tired from work but they don't serve it, so I just hydrated on water instead.

Staff is friendly and expect food to take 15-20m to arrive. They use traditional servicing bowls and the Naan Bread that served at the table looks perfect. I took my food to go, ordering the Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. The heat level can be adjusted and the chicken was tasty and not drive for using white meat. It comes with white rice the size of a medium Chinese to-go white box. The bread was very flavorful and good. Pictures are up to date, to-go looked the same when opening the package. Since this was a to-go meal, the negatives was the bread being wrapped in foil and it was soft and becoming chewy. Would be nice to place in paper or parchment to help maintain the crispy. The other was no utensils or napkins, so make sure you have some or ask. I did not see any signs stating to request. Highly recommend to stop by even if alone. I lived in northern India for a year and I've become snobby about quality Indian cuisine. We ordered samosas, naan, yellow curry, tiki masala and dal over rice. It was mid.
