Well first time trying this place. When I was in island i was craving for Indian food and this place was highly recommended. The food tasted so good and the chat was yummy. Biryani was okay. The channa masala had all the right flavors and the soft butter naan was a big hit, we enjoyed every bite of it. Thank you kamana kitchen and team for good food.

Authentic Indian food. A dear Indian friend invited us to Kamana Kitchen so we could taste what real Indian food is like. He took the tune to explain how to eat it. Each dish was good with unique flavors. I'm am not a gourmet eater but I did enjoy each dish with the naan bread and basmati rice. Limited parking in marked stalls. If you're looking for authentic Indian food, then Kamana kitchen is the place.

Service good . The place a bit run down . Order a chicken tikka masala and a Nan bread . Chicken cook well and sauce slightly sweet side with strong tomato flavor . Not a lot spices like what I have somewhere else . Also come with aside rice . Decent portion . Nan bread is perfectly done . Mango lassi decent taste . Overall decent Indian food . I think the grill meat would be good.

Finally got to try this place with friends which was good for sharing. Went on Sunday at 5:30 and were impressed at how almost all the tables were full. Service was nice and friendly but poor guys were smashed trying to juggle everyone. We got chili chicken with bell peppers and onions, chicken tikka masala, shrimp biryani, chicken kebab with sauce, and both naan and roti. The dish with the most flavor was the chili chicken which friend said reminded him of a sizzling sechuan platter without the sizzle. Portions are generous so we had a lot of leftovers to take home. I thought the chicken was a little overcooked and cut a bit large for my liking, but flavors were good and even better as leftovers when they had soaked in more. For dessert my friend and I shared a Gajar halwa- cooked carrot pudding which was surprisingly good. We couldn't put our finger on the flavor but good old Google helped us identify it as cardamom. Our other friends had rice pudding which was not bad and homemade pistachio ice cream, which I didn't care for as much, but they liked it.

While I don't go out to eat as often anymore with kids, I do still get takeout and this is one of my favorite takeout spots. It's a little expensive, but I absolutely love their curries and especially their cheese naan. The location is convenient. The parking is easy and the workers are so accommodating and friendly. They have a special if you order early enough in the day, which I love to take advantage of. Writing this review has me wanting to order this for dinner tonight!! Their food is just so delicious.

Dinner in Kapahulu, Honolulu, Hawaii... I was hopeful after reading reviews of the parking situation... There are a few free stalls on the Palani Avenue side. However, they were all filled when we got there on a Saturday evening. Luckily, someone was leaving a street stall and we took it! YAY! We entered the spacious restaurant, formerly occupied by Haili's Hawaiian Foods. Bee was our competent, friendly, and helpful server. He knew the menu well and was able to answer every question with humor and wisdom! Thanks for being so entertaining and efficient! One of our table mates ordered lamb kabobs... wow! It was sizzling on a platter and smoking so much that it was taken back to the kitchen for a bit... LOL! I got my favorite Butter Chicken (with rice) and Garlic Naan... delicious!!! I was so full and happy! I wouldn't mind returning!

A no frills, always reliable Indian restaurant. Delicious food that is reasonably priced compared to other nearby Indian spots. I like to order the Chicken vindaloo, medium spice, and the vegetable samosa appetizer. The chicken in the vindaloo is tender and soaks up the flavor of all the aromatic spices. Medium spice level is on the milder side, so if you want spice, order it hot. I also really appreciate that the curry orders include rice, spiced with cardamom and clove. Most places require you to order rice on the side. The samosas have a thin flaky wrapping and are not too oily, and they taste even better with the minty sauce it comes with. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The only inconvenience is the parking. There is 1 spot in back, on Winam Ave. that is usually taken, so you may have to find street parking on Kapahulu.

im going to be honest - im not the most adventurous person when it comes to food. My husband on the other hand is more open with different types of cuisines and he's loved indian food as far as i remember. I've heard good things about Kamana Kitchen and that their original location was downtown. Their new spot opened up in kapahulu - the old hawaiian food restaurant on the corner and next to pizza hut. Parking is available in front of an apartment complex which is SUPER WEIRD because sometimes the people who live in the apartment just hang outside of their doors or lanai and just watch you. Kinda of a bummer for the residents there that probably don't have parking for their unit, but a win for the restaurant owner because parking is pretty rough in Kapahulu. During lunch there is a 15% off promo before 2 pm. I showed them the flyer just in case since someone prior did not get the discount. I ordered - butter chicken, cheese naan, lamb kabobs and veggie samosa. everything was really good! I didn't try the lamb tho! but my husband said he enjoyed everything.

Large portions and delicious food! I ended up coming here twice over the holidays (with two different groups) because everyone's a fan. I've primarily tried their vegetarian and vegan dishes, but everything I had was delicious. Their portions are large, come with rice, and are easily shareable. I've left with leftovers every time. I'll continue to come back here when I'm craving Indian food!

This branch of the Chinatown Kamana location - the New Kamana Kitchen is wonderful! I have been wanting to bring my kiddos to the original location for a while but parking there is iffy at best. So I was so excited for this location when it opened. I FINALLY got them in and the space is clean and huge in comparison to the other location. It's clean and there's a hand washing sink available too! Now.....the service - outstanding. A nice young man named Sebastian was so engaging with my children (3 - 8 year old boys) that they felt like they made a friend. The owner Raj was kind and spent time talking about the food with my sons. Speaking of the food....the boys say, "5 stars because they were able to make vegetables taste good!" We had the shrimp korma, shrimp palak, mixed grill, aloo gobi, naan, garlic naan, samosas, and cheese naan. It was all amazing. But shockingly to myself and the boys, they all agreed that the shrimp palak was their fave. I love when Indian food can be tasty without being oily. And has so much flavor with or without spice. This is an absolute do again for us. Maybe we will catch you there too!!

it's NEW to us My friends and I were excited to try New Kamana Kitchen after viewing all the recent reviews on Yelp. NOTES 1. BYOB. The provide glasses and a wine opener if needed. 2. Parking is challenging. There are some stalls (please make sure to parked in the marked stalls), or street parking. 3. The A/C is not too cold, just fyi. FOOD After perusing their menu, we chose to the Meat Samosa to start, and ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Chicken Tandoor as mains. An order of Cheese Naan completed the meal. The samosas were incredibly delicious, a precursor of what was to come out from the kitchen. Firstly, the food was brought out promptly. Almost immediately, our group of 4 commented that the Chicken Tandoori was quite good. Unfortunately, I think I was the lone person that preferred the Chicken Tikka Masala over the Butter Chicken.....though the Butter Chicken was good. Just not as great as the Chicken Tikka. Honourable mention goes to the Cheese Naan! So good! I secretly wanted my own order. SERVICE Very attentive. The staff was very welcoming when we walked in, and just friendly and polite. I appreciated that they didn't rush us out of restaurant when our meal was finished. BOTTOM LINE A satisfactory first visit. I'll be back for the Chicken Tikka Masala. And the Cheese Naan.

Can you bring your own bottle of wine?

    Yes

Any lunch specials like the downtown location?

No, the New Kamana Kitchen in Kapahulu does not offer lunch specials served on thalis (metal trays) like its downtown location. This location is more neighborhood-friendly for families or larger groups who are not on a "time crunch."

Not only that, but I have to bring my significant other along to share in the deliciousness! I don't know how I'm just now talking about Marugame Udon. When I first came here, my friend and I decided to give it a try because we saw the longest line and wanted to see what all the hype was about. There was a couple in front of us who said they come here every time they visit Hawaiʻi and that it's a must-do stop on every trip. When you walk in, it's a small place. You can watch a team member washing the noodles and portioning them into bowls right in front of you. Then you choose your bowl size, small or large, and select your broth. After that, you get to choose from a variety of fried items and other à la carte options displayed on a warmer. Seating can be limited because of how busy this place gets. You line up to get your food, pay for it, grab your condiments, utensils, and a cup of water, then find a seat and enjoy. I've already been here twice, and after writing about my experience, I need to make a third visit happen very soon! There are not enough days off in a week to enjoy all of the amazing food on this island, but I'm going to do my best to experience as many places as I can. This place is totally worth the 45-minute commute from Wahiawa.

Knowing me, I was most interested in the dessert, but we ended up dining here on a whim. We had really great service when we dined in. I ordered the oxtail soup because I hadn't had it before, which fulfills my rule of trying new foods when I can. It was tasty, with a unique spice blend reminiscent of other beef soups I've had in the past. However, I was particularly wowed however by the complementary bread and raspberry jam. Call me simple, but the bread was actually the star of the show for me, perfectly soft and buttery. The location in Waikiki is perhaps a clear reminder that it is a tourism city. The atmosphere is that of fine dining. Not a bad place to grab a meal when on vacation in Honolulu.

Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. Our waitress seemed to be having a rough day. We had to ask another staff member for our check and to-go boxes. She also never came back to check on our table or refill our water. Everyone has off days, so we're hoping that's all it was. You pick your broth and meats up front, then head to the refrigerators in back for the rest, which makes the whole meal feel more practical than theatrical. The room is no-frills, the service is solid without being especially warm, and the BYOB policy fits the place better than any design effort would have The draw is still the broth. The beef broth really does drink like pho broth, and the restaurant's own menu more or less admits that by calling it a favorite for pho lovers. The tom yum has real sharpness and stays lively through the meal. The meat selection is broader than the room suggests, with ribeye, short rib, lamb, pork belly, pork shoulder, tripe, and tendon all on the menu. The vegetable and noodle selection is also better than average: bok choy, choi sum, ong choy, watercress, taro, lotus root, bamboo shoot, enoki, king oyster, fresh saimin, udon, glass noodle, vermicelli, and pho noodle, among others What holds it at 4 stars is that the math can get a little awkward. It is not expensive plate by plate, but somehow the total often lands near all-you-can-eat territory, except without the same range. Although if you were to ask my wife, this a solid 5 star place. Still, that misses why people come here. This place feels built around broth first, not abundance for its own sake, and that makes it easier to forgive a sauce station that is merely fine and a service style that does the job without much flourish

Staff were on top of everything from the moment we sat down -- attentive, friendly, and helpful with the menu. No complaints there at all. Now the food -- let's talk about it. Overall, the ramen was very good, but I want to share an important tip about their waiting system so others don't get caught off guard. When your name gets close to the top of the list, do NOT wander away. They will call your name three times, and if you're not standing there, they'll cross your name off immediately. What surprised me was that they start calling names before the current customers have even finished eating or paid their bill. I had made eye contact with the host, pointed to my name and party size, and he acknowledged me. There were still people sitting at the counter eating, and it looked like it would be another 10-15 minutes before seats opened up. I stepped away briefly and came back, only to find my name had already been crossed off the list. The party that was supposedly leaving hadn't even paid yet and was still sitting in their seats. When I explained the situation, the host simply said, "Sorry, your time passed already. I called your name three times." Their sign says they will wait 3 minutes, but in our case it felt more like they called the name three times in quick succession and then removed it. Thankfully, after some discussion, he agreed to seat us anyway. So my advice: once your name is within a couple spots of being called, stay close and pay attention. As for the food, we ordered the Oxtail Ramen (spicy) and the Cashew Pork Ramen. The ramen itself was excellent. The oxtail was tender, although it didn't have a lot of flavor on its own in the soup. They provide a separate bowl with ginger and what appeared to be a ponzu-based sauce, and the intended way to eat it is to remove the oxtail from the soup and dip it into the sauce. That definitely enhanced the flavor. The restaurant is set up with bar-style seating in a half-oval arrangement. Your party will be seated shoulder-to-shoulder, and guests will be sitting directly across from you on the other side of the counter. I'd estimate there are about 25 seats total. Service is efficient, food comes out quickly, and most customers finish and leave fairly fast. For reference, we arrived at 8:38 PM on a Tuesday with 17 people ahead of us. We were seated around 9:15 PM, our food arrived by about 9:30 PM, and we left around 10:00 PM. Overall, this would have been a 5-star experience if not for the confusion with the waiting list. The ramen is absolutely worth trying, but understanding how their queue system works will save you from a potentially frustrating experience.

It was unexpected, but so fresh and delicious. We ordered the cold noodles, spicy pork bulgogi, and seafood pancake. Everything was really good, and we'd honestly rank those dishes above most of the Korean restaurants we've been to. The seafood pancake was packed with seafood flavor, and they definitely didn't skimp on the squid. The spicy pork bulgogi came with a bowl of rice and had the right amount of spicy. The cold noodles totally hit the spot and had just the right amount of toppings in every bite. I was left very satisfied and we even had leftovers of the pork and pancake to take home. Service was friendly, and everything arrived in a timely manner. We'll definitely be back soon to try the AYCE and the soups!

I came here for lunch. I noticed this place changed owners awhile ago. Under the new name,…read moreMoobongri, they offer Ala carte menu items as well as an AYCE menu. I like that they open at 10am and that they serve delicious banchan. I came in one weekday and was seated at one of the regular tables. I guess they assumed I wasn't going to get the AYCE, even though it's pretty affordable for weekday lunch (like $28). Id like to come back to try the ayce sometime. I decided on the cold noodle and kalbi combo for $24. The cold noodles by themselves are only $14, so I thought there would be at least a couple pieces of kalbi in the combo. Nope. Apparently one piece of kalbi is $10. It was served hot, but it was served on a hot plate with onions and the plate itself wasn't hot. Why serve it on a hot plate? Very confusing. The cold noodles were refreshing, but you can get pretty good cold noodles at any Korean restaurant I think. I was a little disappointed in the quantity of food for the combo. Or I wish they had an actual lunch special, maybe I should have just got the ayce at this point right? But I wanted the cold noodles.... Oh well. It doesn't seem like they changed the interior all that much. It was pretty nice inside to begin with and there is a big parking lot. The workers come by when you ring the table side bell. Lol, otherwise they kind of just drop off the food and leave you alone. I was surprised there were like 3 other couples eating from the Ala carte menu at 10:30. I would possibly come back to try their other soups, but I wouldn't get suckered into getting the combos.

The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and comforting. We tried several dishes and every one of them was delicious. The Oxtail Pho and Steak Tendon Pho were so clean and flavorful that you can actually drink the soup straight from the bowl. The dry egg noodles with seafood and BBQ pork were perfectly seasoned, and the grilled pork and chicken bánh mì had amazing flavor with fresh, crispy bread. We also loved the appetizers -- the fresh spring rolls were light and refreshing, and the crispy egg rolls were perfectly crunchy which I love because one of the ingredients is taro roots. The vermicelli noodles with short ribs and eEgg rolls were another standout dish-I requested to substitute with short ribs with the BBQ pork and the chef was happily accommodated it. The service was warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we came back three days in a row during our stay -- that alone says how good the food is! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic and satisfying Vietnamese food in Waikiki.

Noodles were not well cooked, too salty and looked like a sorry mess for what we paid for. I can't say anything about their other items in the menu, but the stir fry was not worth it and customers should steer clear of this item. Definitely could have spent my money somewhere else.

Indoor and outdoor seating was available. We chose to sit inside and relaxed among the beach decor and pop music. The menu was limited due to happy hour but several wonderful options were available. We opted for a Strawberry Matcha Latte, the Organic Carrot salad, the Garlic Shrimp and a Mixed Berry Acai Bowl. Our food arrived in a timely manner, was well portioned, artistically plated and absolutely flavorfully scrumptious. The favorite was the carrot salad. It was lite, tangy, fresh and well textured. It was also surprisingly filling. Service was outstanding. Our server, Bruce T. , was highly attentive, personable and helpful. Pricing was reasonable. We would definitely return.

We ordered a salad, an American Wagyu burger, a poke, a shrimp dish, and a prix fix meal for $40 that came with an appetizer: a guacamole, an entree: a steak and shrimp meal, and a dessert we chose a tiramisu. Our meal was delicious, but it wasn't over the top. The steak was tender, the shrimp was crispy, the burger was ok, the poke was refreshing, and the tiramisu was delicious. This place is solid. Service was quick and the waitress was attentive. Overall, I thought the prix fix meal was a good deal since we were able to share the dessert with our kids. Even though I liked eating here, I thought Hula Grill was better.
