Kids Cheese Dosa with tomato chutney
    Catherine P.

I have been here a couple times but I guess never did a review until today. We stopped by around lunch time on a Sunday and the place was busy. Thankfully there were tables open for us to sit inside. The choices are a bit limited in what they serve so if you aren't a dosa fan, this place probably isn't for you. We got the kids cheese dosa and the ganeshpuri dosa, plus the idli. My kids weren't a fan of the dosa so I ended up eating their kids cheese one. The dosa reminded me of a sourdough bread. I wish it came with a mild cheese to really taste the dosa. The ganeshpuri dosa with the sambar soup and coconut chutney was good. But my husband liked the tomato chutney better. The idli was fun to try with the sambar soup but again another bread like item really wasn't great for my calorie deficit diet. Service was fast for the food but forgetful for order items like the idli not coming out until 5 minutes after our 3 dosa orders. And then having to ask for the hibiscus iced tea 5 more minutes later. Again the place seemed to get busier after we left and there were only two people working. Parking was good with metered stalls in the back. They accept credit card and coins. There are two tables outside the restaurant to eat at and a few tables inside.

    Chef's recommendation

I was visiting one of my friends in Kailua and didn't eat dinner yet...I wanted something outside of my norm so I found Ganesh dosa. I'm a huge fan of Indian but we really don't have quick options in town as soon as I walked in, I was greeted and I asked the cashier's favorite. I ended up going with the chef's recommendation because it was more filling and it was amazing. The dish comes with a side of soup and also your choice of chutney. It was safe to say I was stuffed after the meal and I will definitely be back again.

Ganesh Dosa will always do it for me. The dosas are absolutely amazing, so delicious and fresh. The sourdough and the chutney just takes it away. The employees are super friendly and welcoming. Very nice atmosphere, open windows for sunlight, nice lighting, and airy space. Will always be coming back here.

Great and friendly service. The dosa texture was better than crêpes, and it was definitely a fun new experience for us. The mango lassi was also delicious and refreshing.

Strong taste left in my mouth of a burn crepe with a slite taste of Nutella I hate waiting food but no can
    Sharon S.

Very disappointed very kind staff but I walked into this location near my surgeons clinic and I really needed to eat and I grew up making crepes and I have to say truly sad that it tasted burn with a side of Nutella. I let the staff know and I said it tasted and he finished my sentence and said, "burnt" and I said, "yes!" I wish I would have take a picture of both sides. I paid $11.49 and tipped 20%. Im not too sure if they burnt it on purpose or if this is just how they do their crepes but when I let them know they didn't seem concerned. I am a yelper so doing reviews like this on a local business is not my favorite thing to do. My husband said I should have taken it back from the beginning but I kept trying to eat it one because my sugar is low but two because I wanted to not waste food but I did bring it up and show them. Other than that the atmosphere is a vibe I love aesthetically and calming music very inviting with lots of seating but cleanliness could be corrected but the female who took my order was very kind. But like my first manager in a cafe told us, "you got time to lean you got Time to clean! Sad to walk away not full with a burn taste in the mouth and disappointment

The service is quick. It's a small place for quick grabs. The food is not great but good for a non Indian making it. Tried their classic and was ok

The best dosa I've had in Hawaii , loved it!

Get your bellydancing hips over to Ganesh Dosa in Kailua! Sooooo good, healthy, quick and nutritious!!! Hibiscus tea, you can request with or without sugar Mediterranean Dosa was my favorite as I love goat cheese! It also had sundried tomatoes, spinach and kalamata , I also added avocado! DELICIOUS!!! VEGAN AND VEGTERIAN OPTIONS! I'll be back

Yummy I tried the chefs recommendation.

My first time have a dosa and I was missing out! The crepe was so crispy with a good texture, and I loved the ingredients inside! I got the chefs recommendation and the chef didn't fool me lol. Best to eat it fresh there - the half I ate at the restaurant definitely tasted better than the other half I had after being in the air fryer at home. It also came with a sambar (lentil soup) that had all the delicious spices in it. So hearty and healthy. The service was great. The ladies behind the counter were very nice. There's a part of the Kailua square so you can either park at the parking lot or use street parking. It's on the side where the parking lot is near cinnamons.

I LOVE this place! I'd never had a dosa before but love Indian food so had to try this place. Dosas are Indian crepes, but with a better texture. Somehow they are soft and also chewy...hard to describe it, you'll just have to try it! I have only ever gotten The Supreme, it's so good I've never tried anything else. It has smashed potatoes masala, sun dried tomatoes, and spinach, I substitute avocados for the cheese. I've tried with with both the coconut chutney and the tomato chutney...I can't pick a favorite- they're both so good, but so different. Dosas also come with soup. I can't recall what it is, but it's really delicious. They have sparkling water and some canned and bottled juice or green tea options to drink. They have indoor and outdoor dining. The outdoor dining area is cute and has umbrellas which is nice on sunny days to protect from the sun. If you work anywhere near here it's a great place for a quick yet healthy lunch. They also have told me to call ahead to order or order online, which can be great in a hurry or a short lunch break. (I only wish their online ordering had dish descriptions and not just the names of the item). All in all I highly recommend.

    Full belly Dosa

Ganesh Dosa is a gem in Kailua that offers unique, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free food that you don't find often in Hawaii! This was actually my frist time trying a dosa. A dosa is made from a fermented batter of ground black lentils and rice- think Southeast Asian Crepe. I came by after shopping at the Sunday market nearby- one of the vendors I was shopping at was enjoying their Chef's recommendation dosa ($19) with potato masala, mozzarella cheese, tomato, avocado, olives. I decided to go all in and ordered the "Full Belly" dosa for $20 and a refreshing mango lassi for $7. The full belly dosa was made with potato masala, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, avocado. If you know me, if there's something on the menu with goat cheese- I'm going to try it. The dosa came with sambar soup made with lentils and vegetables, that was great to dip the dosa in and slurp on the side. You also get a chutney- offering a choice between coconut or tomato chutney. I opted for the coconut chutney, since it is the spicier option. It didn't disappoint - the perfect blend of creamy and fiery, complementing the dosa in every bite. I don't have any dietary restrictions but it's heartening to see a restaurant not just accommodate but celebrate dietary preferences.

    Nutella Dosa ($9)
    Suri S.

Another delicious and filling meal @ GD! Came today from town for their Halloween special: order a Nutella Dosa ($9) and you get a free chai tea - perfect for a rainy "colder" day in Hawaii. What a treat! Nutella Dosa reminded me of an Indian version of a Kinder Bueno bar since there's the crunch from the dosa and creamy Nutella inside. Just with a slight tang from the fresh dosa batter. Not for everyone, but we really enjoyed it. Recommend as a dessert option if you're wanting to share. Full Belly Dosa ($18) never disappoints! We always order that when we come. Fast and friendly service. GD has our continued support, we come to Kailua especially for these dosas sometimes :)

What a wonderful lunch experience! I met my friend for lunch in Kailua today, I've never heard of Ganesh Dosa before or Dosa in general. What IS Dosa? Dosa is a traditional South Indian crepe made of fermented rice and lentils. It is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The employee was very friendly to explain what Dosa was. I ended up ordering the Chef's Recommendation which was potato masala, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes; avocado, olives for $19. It came with some Sambar soup. It was my first time eating dosa or sambar soup and i really enjoyed it! You could get it was tomato or coconut chutney and I chose the tomato which was like a salsa. The potato has a curry sauce which was yum and the avocado nice and fresh. The whole crepe was really good! Best to eat the crepe fresh there because it's nice and crispy! The ambience of the inside seating is small but had adequate seats on a friday lunch. It's a nice quiet place to chat and talk story and relax. Parking is metered parking but 75 cents an hour is not bad. I will be back to try more things! generous portions and i was so full after.

Slightly expensive in my opinion. The lamb vindaloo was so good. I am typically not a fan of lamb as I am nervous that it will taste gamey. However, this was perfectly seasoned and had no gamey taste. You are also able to adjust the spice to your tolerance level and we got mild. Although the waiter suggested medium spice for optimal flavor. We wanted to make sure everyone in our party could eat it and enjoy, so they gave us extra spice on the side. The tadka saag was a spinach curry with a splash or cream. We got it with chicken. This was my favorite curry. Very creamy and silky which was similar to the base of palak paneer. We paired all of these with their garlic naan which was the perfect addition. Although on the pricy side, I will be back again for more.
