Bombay Palace is now Namaste. We found that out as we stumbled around looking for Bombay Palace after our Uber Driver dropped us off. Eventually, we called the restaurant and they told us to look for Namaste. Overall, solid Indian Food. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh extra spicy, but it lacked a little heat. We ordered the Butter Chicken Spicy too, but it fell a bit short. That being said, the flavor of both dishes was very good. We both thought the Garlic Naan was perfect! They have wine, prosecco, and beer too. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't offer Indian Beers such as Flying Horse or Taj. I am so mixed on this review! The food is good, but I feel like I would do take out if I lived there. First of all, update your website! The name changed about 10 months ago? I did update Yelp and was shocked no one has done it to this point! Second, you don't serve any Indian beers?? Really! What we did order was very cold and reasonable prices. I was always curious about this place and finally got to try. This time, I did a takeout of Samosas, Traditional Chicken Curry, and Basmati Rice. I called the restaurant before ordering online because I'm lactose intolerant and wanted to know which curry was made without milk or yoghurt. The guy who answered said all traditional curries. The food was ready in about 30 minutes after ordering. I liked the curry as it was not heavy at all and had home made comfort taste to it. The rice was cooked nicely. However, I didn't care for the samosas at all, as they were too greasy. I was thinking maybe the temperature of the oil was too low, they didn't shake off the oil well, or didn't put on the paper towel to absorb the excess oil, something of that nature. If looking for quality indian cuisine, look no further. Its not fancy and the decor is a little dated, but the food was so good that the looks of the place didnt matter. Plus the price was perfect for Honololu, a full meal with naan and dronk only cost 30 dollars. The naan was interesting as it was crispy but also puffy. Really enjoyed their naan, wish the garlic was lots stronger. We got the "Chef's Special," Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandoori chicken. Both chickens were tasteless. It was my bf's first time trying Tandoori chicken and we were both shocked when it didn't have taste. The curry itself had a kick! Here's the thing, if you're not staying on the strip or nearby, it's a hard location to get to. And the public facing door doesn't work so you have to go into the building to locate another entrance. We placed an order ahead of time and after having difficulties with parking and the doors, they had more than enough time to have our order ready. They didn't have any patrons in there and I can only guess that's because they had just opened. So the wait time threw me. As for the quality of the food, I'd say it's mid. I lived in northern India for a year and I've become snobby about quality Indian cuisine. We ordered samosas, naan, yellow curry, tiki masala and dal over rice. It was mid. We ordered Palak paneer, malai kofta, garlic naan, and roti. The food overall was good. All flavors were not overpowering and as expected, they make food appropriate to the spice you tell them- a warm refreshing change compared to indian restaurants who make everything spicy. So you can trust them on this. I will say that Palak paneer was very salty. Not sure if that was due to variation or if this is their baseline but it's something to ask about and consider if you will be ordering it. Otherwise, this is a good place to enjoy Indian food when you've been craving it. Food is primarily Punjabi, so those craving dosas and uttapam will be disappointed. read more

Last night we picked up takeout from Bombay Palace. It was surprisingly good. I've seen this place many times driving it walking by, but timing wasn't right. I'm glad we were finally able to try it. We ordered coconut curry with mahi mahi, chicken Tikka masala, lamb shish kebabs, basmati rice, garlic and cheese naan. Four adults and two toddlers were well fed with not a single bite left. It was fantastic for a little picnic on the beach while we watched Friday night fireworks. All entrees are gluten free. Yay Indian food! Having easy gf entrees that don't need modification is such a win. Naan is obviously not, but the rest of our group loved it. Despite it being a tiny bit spicy, both kids loved the lamb. Twas supposed to be ladies night, but one of the amigas bailed. So, it became date night with my lovely. Milady be a reverted Muslim so who better to dine Mediterranean with than she? As much as I say I try to love Mexican food, I think this would be right up there too. I haven't been a huge fan, but I'll just keep saying that I just haven't found the right thing. I studied the menu days before coming. I was set on the butter chicken, palak paneer and garlic naan. My gal pal chose the samosas and lamb. I wasn't paying attention to the dish name but I couldn't forget it was lamb lol. The samosas were good. I wish peas weren't included. So I literally dug out every single pea from mine and I counted 6, not bad. Also potato filled and the outer layer is crisp. Everything fried is better. Butter chicken and tikka masala are similar, I was told the butter chicken is creamier and the tikka masala has a stronger tomato flavor. I'm a mom, I get HEARTBURN like a mofo, so the strong tomato was a no go. Butter chicken was good. I've never had chicken in such big chunks like that, but still good. My favorite had to be dipping the garlic naan in the sauce! The palak paneer was my least fave. Nothing wrong with it. Just more bland for my liking. Spinach with blocks of cheese. The cheese blocks reminded me of tofu for some reason. Again, not bad, just not on my tops. And of course the garlic naan was my fave. I thought the alcohol would've been the winner, but not this time. I have naan all the time, but from Costco lol. Now imma have to buy naan from restaurants! Hot, fresh, garlicy, bubbled dough. So disappointing!!! I don know how and why this place has 3.5 stars on yelp. Only 2 good things about this restaurant- somewhat friendly staff and their garlic naan. We ordered multiple items in hope that at least something will taste good. 1. Plate of samosa - came with 2pcs that were definitely refried (not fresh) and the filling was okish 2. Papadum - how can someone possibly get this wrong?! the papad arrived over roasted and pinkish/red rather than the expected beige 3. Soup of the day which was lentil soup - this was also soo meh. It din have any flavor to it, just felt like lentil was boiled and grinded 4. Paneer makhani - gravy was good, just a lil on the tangier side than usual but edible. The paneer however was hard/not fresh 5. Rice with the paneer gravy - again another 'safe' item which I don't expect restaurants to get wrong but the rice was lumpy and could be cooked just a tad bit 6. Nice balance of flavors and the right amount of creaminess. Interested in trying other places bitter chicken. Cheese Naan This was hot and made fresh. Loved dipping this into the Butter Chicken Sauce Samosas Outside was hot But inside was cool. Definitely fried to order but I think they are stored frozen. Downside was the price. Came here for the second time and ordered the exact same items as our last visit 6 months ago. The quality, cleanliness and service all went down. We really enjoyed the samosas last time, but the samosas were obviously reheated this time around and the center of the samosas were completely cold. The sauces were also not as good as last time. Vegetable Biryani was much worse this time as well as it was a soggy mess, and it definitely didn't have "fresh vegetables " as the menu suggested. The carrots and peas tasted like it was from a frozen pack. The Lamb Rogan had less lamb and was also more oily than last time we ordered it. The chicken tikka masala tasted fine, but the texture was as if it was reheated as well. The only thing we enjoyed was the garlic naan bread. Hence two stars instead of one. Service got even worse, unbelievably they had even fewer and possibly newer staff as the server didn't even know if the entrees come with rice when we asked. Also no one took our order this time around and we had to write down our own orders, and go grab the check ourselves. And the same rule for not ordering any more food applies still. In addition, our glassware was dirty and we had to ask for it to be replaced. This concludes my very last visit to Bombay - will not be back again. read more

Our hotel bartender recommended this place because it was open later, and she said that the food was really good, so we decided to give it a shot. It's a little spot that's kind of hidden in the back of a little center. We were greeted warmly the host who by the way, was wearing the most spectacular Aloha shirt(just had to mention that). We were seated immediately and offered drinks. The server is excellent! She is warm and friendly and has the best energy! My husband is a vegetarian so finding places with a wider variety of non meat items can be tricky, and Bombay Palace did not disappoint. The hardest part was him choosing between all of the selections! Our server had some recommendations which turned out to be amazing! Now for the main event, the food. Holy moly Batman, it was all soooo good! I had the butter chicken and my husband had the Sabzi. As far as the quality of food, let's just say it was all I could do not to lick the plate so I would get every last drop! We are in Waikiki for a week and have every intention of going again at least one more time before we leave. Absolutely 10/10 would recommend. We recently tried Bombay Palace in Waikiki located in the Discovery Bay condominiums. The food was pretty average and mild to my taste, but certainly still very palatable. The ambience and decor are a bit dated, but the service was pretty quick. They also have a full bar so you can enjoy a cocktail, wine or beer. read more

This is my favorite Indian restaurant on island. They are amazing every time and the ambiance is kindhearted and professional. They make everyone feel like family whether you're dining in or taking out. A lot of other restaurants in Waikiki could learn from Bombay palace. They're so kind. Not to mention how top quality the food is. It's absolutely incredible. I couldn't get myself out of the house today much beside feeling hungry; and I'm so grateful that when I called Bombay minutes before closing and asked them to make one of my favorites, they did it for me with ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUE. Found this Indian food place in the middle of everything in Honolulu. Can't go without eating Indian food for too long. So this was absolute must. Very easy walking distance from hotels. Very easy to get to. Upon arriving we were greeted by the server right away and we were seated quickly. We went ahead and orders a few entree and food came out piping hot and seemed super fresh. My favorite was the seekh kababs and their garlic naans. My only concern is they upcharge for rice and onions which are complimentary in any Indian restaurants. The naan is fantastic! The curries are a thumbs up and the spice level can be tailored. It's a small but spacious place in the Discovery Bay. The price isn't bad but the service could be improved on and the AC system needs fixing. The section we were seated at was very warm but there were other parts as you walked through to the restroom that were cool. I would consider coming back however the real downer is the parking. I've frequented this restaurant for years as my only Indian option on the island. It has continually gotten poorer in the service and food side. They've recently changed the name to something else and removed a bunch off the menu so I doubt I'll be returning. The staff aren't very attentive and when you do get their attention, it's like a burden for them to make happen. I believe a new kitchen staff has been implemented as the food doesn't taste like it always had on this most recent visit. Husband and I came here on our honeymoon almost 13 years ago and had some of the spiciest Indian food we ever had. Decided to try it again during our trip this past week and it did not disappoint. This place has some horrendous reviews but based on my friend's suggestion we came here ordered just two things -chicken biryani and veg biryani. Portion size was really small. Terrible experience. The food and service was awful. The chicken tikka was too sweet and dry. They have a policy to order a certain volume. We explained we have 5 kids with us. They don't eat. Despite, ordering appetizer, they still forced us to order a few entrees. It all went to waste and we left it there. There are so many in this world without food and they force you to waste food. Everything we ordered was on point! Everything had great flavor. Staff was very nice, and helpful. There was only one group of 3 that was in restaurant, so we had mixed feeling when coming in. The host/waitress said that they are understaffed, which is not hard to believe at these times so it was mentioned that our order will only be taken once for food and once again for dessert. This kind of pressured me because I didn't know if our order was good enough to feed the party. So we ordered everything pictured for 3 people. Indian cuisine cravings are strong with this one. So much so that I've discovered Bombay Palace Indian restaurant on the western edge of Waikiki on a brisk Saturday in January 2021. I do love the Indian spice palate and the flavors are inherently wonderful and vibrant. I arrived here around 11am, thinking that they opened at 11am, but nope. 11:30am on a Saturday. With that said, I went to the McDonald's in the Discovery Bay Center and purchased a drink while waiting for Bombay Palace to open its doors for the day. The experience at Bombay Palace Indian restaurant took about 20 minutes, as I placed a takeout order, to be eaten at Ala Moana shopping center while playing Pokemon Go there. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and pleasant. I casually looked around before the server showed up and I could say that I enjoyed the décor and hope to be back for a dine in experience sometime down the road when the COVID-19 pandemic is more manageable than it is currently. It's a shame that I've only discovered this Indian restaurant this year. I can see myself coming back since it's in walking distance from the Ala Moana shopping center and Bombay Palace is a great alternative to what they have in the Ala Moana food courts there. It's nice to have Bombay Palace here for everyone and anyone who loves Indian cuisine. Come check them out, if you are in the area. The overall experience here at Bombay Palace Indian restaurant was casual, short, and nice. The only issue I had was kind of my fault. I didn't check to make sure that I gotten / asked for utensils. It's address is 1778 Ala Moana Boulevard, on the western outskirts of Waikiki and it's a 5-7 minute walk to Ala Moana shopping center. They accept major credit cards, which is always nice, as well as cash. With the current pandemic going on, face masks are required and credit cards are the preferred way to pay. Since it's on the western edge of Waikiki, parking is often at a premium here. Best bet would be to find street parking nearby or park temporarily at Ala Moana shopping center and walk over to pick up a take out order. If you are like me, routes 20, 23, and 42 come thru this stretch of Ala Moana Blvd and stops close enough. Or if you'd like, routes 2, 4, and 8 run thru Kuhio Avenue as well. However you get here to Bombay Palace Indian restaurant, consider your next place for your Indian cuisine fix. It was nice to experience this place, even though my first time was take out. While in Hawaii we were craving some authentic Indian food, so we decided to give Bombay Palace a try because it was right within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at. We had tried another Indian cuisine restaurant a couple nights before. And even though the food was good it just did not have the authentic taste that we were craving. So we decided to give Bombay Palace a try. Let me just tell you this place did not disappoint! The food was out of this world delicious! So good that we went back another night to savor the wonderful cuisine. if you happen to be in Honolulu Hawaii and are craving some very good Indian food, I suggest you give it a try your taste buds will thank you.
