For a place to bed, this isn't really a bad hotel but it lacks. I've stayed at this Hilton twice now but only because the groups I traveled with insisted. The hotel has a nice lobby and a really pleasant staff, which is the only reason I'm giving them two stars + because the bed was comfortable. But that's a generous as I'm feeling. Ping ....... Ping ..........ping .... Where is that sound coming from? After a while I got up and realized the shower was dripping onto a metal plate. The shower valve was as tight as it would go so I threw a towel on the plate and when back to bed. Woosh ..... woosh .... Woooosh .... Why is the toilet making that sound? Got out of bed again and tried flushing and shaking the valve. Seemed to work, went back to bed. .. 2h later .... woosh .... Ear plug time! The 2nd night was better. The drip in the shower continued but the towel on the floor stopped any pinging sound and the toilet demon/kami must have moved to pester another guest. Is this hotel haunted? It sure is one of the ugliest buildings I have seen. From the outside the architecture appears to be montage of an air traffic control tower plus cubic lego blocks, but that didn't bother me as much as the lack of a good nights rest. read more

Eek. Appearances aren't everything. The exterior looks nice, as does the lobby. The lobby being sort of large but not large enough for the mass amounts of folks waiting on tour buses, it gets full fast. The coffee bar and restaurant was decent but way overpriced. The room appeared nice and clean. Our first night was comfortable enough in the beds, the next morning taking my shower the towels to dry off with had bugs in them. Yuck!! Not sure when it became normal to store clean towels in the underbellies of the bathroom sinks. The bugs weren't alive, but still it was not a welcome site. We had no towels in our room. We had a shuttle leaving at 4:30 AM so I wanted to take an early shower. Dialed Housekeeping and 0 and got no answer. Went down to the front desk and was told we'd be getting some in a few minutes. Nope. After waiting over twenty minutes, I went downstairs again, in my pajamas. They told me they only had one housekeeping staff working. Really? This is a 15 story hotel! Also, they only had ice machines on the odd floors. Third floor's didn't work. This place is a total dump. I did early online check in and room selection after researching the best rooms for the view for something nice to wake up to after traveling 22 hours. After my first flight I got notice they updated my room. The first room they placed me in was a literal brick wall, not the "mountain view" I paid extra for. The second room was just a better view of another wall. And when I called again about the disappointing room they downgraded me to, that had the smallest sink ever, a disgusting tub with chips in it, and a cement wall with cracks and paint flaking off it under the windows, they told me they'd bring me a key to another room and that was about 20 minutes ago. I just want to go to bed, wake up, and this nightmare of a hotel to be behind me. So I wait half an hour for the key, go down to check in it. Ana tells me that I picked the wrong room, then realizes she's wrong. So I ask who told me a key was coming in half an hour and "she's a new hire we don't even know her name", it was Ana. Basically, you can keep your shitty room with paint chipping off the wall, the leaking bathroom, and talk to a manager in the morning. She probably lied about her name too honestly, the whole thing is sketchy. read more

Hilton flagships are usually "dumps" (other than the lobbies), but this one is like the dump you are trying your best to avoid. I think this is probably the worst or one of the worst rooms I've ever stayed in. Everything is clearly old in the room. That's not necessarily bad, but it really shows here. My shower handle was broken, and it took like 10 minutes to fiddle with it to get it to hot. Once I did, I had to shower in scalding water because I couldn't get it back. After finishing, it took another 10 minutes to try to turn the water off (I was at the point of locating the shut off valve, to no avail). I finally got it off. The AC just blows air, but it doesn't seem to do anything else. It's naturally one of the old wall controls where the buttons (yeah, hello 1980) are so hard to press that you just give up. There are 2 good things about this place. Well, 3. First, the bath towels are actually usable and a normal size for a human. Second, the cookies (albeit somewhat stale) in the lobby. And third, the gym is good. Don't stay here. You can experience the lobby without paying for a room. Don't pay for a room. Trust me. read more

My wife and I booked a one night stay at the Hilton Anchorage arriving Thursday, September 5, checking out Friday September 6. Check out time was 11 am. At 8:50 am, a housekeeping supervisor knocked on our asking when we were going to leave. Hilton is supposed to be in the hospitality business so it might not be a good idea for your employees to ask your guest to leave. No apology, nothing vaguely resembling remorse. As a Hilton honors diamond member, I always hesitate to write anything but perfect reviews for Hilton hotels. In this case it just seems warranted to let other consumers know what to expect at this hotel. The location itself is wonderful, with a convenient walk to all of downtown Anchorage. The views on the high floors are excellent, with water views throughout. The pool is small but comfortable, the hot tub was excellent, and the gym spacious. Regrettably the air quality in the hotel is among the worst I've ever experienced, and I would not stay there again. The staff was acceptable, though unexceptional throughout our four night stay. The restaurant is on the expensive side for a standard breakfast buffet, even with the diamond member credit we still chose to go to other restaurants most days. The hotel is expensive, but so are most of the hotels in that part of Alaska. If you do choose this hotel, be aware that the sounds from train horns last quite early in the morning. Overall the location and view are the main reasons to stay - otherwise there are better options in the downtown Anchorage area. read more

OK, we were concerned about this hotel when we read past reviews. But our experience wasn't too bad. Yes, there were some issues but overall it was good. It was easy checking in and out. We got a room in the east tower on the 20th floor. The room was clean and in pretty good shape. Nothing too terribly wrong. Here were our issues. The heat didn't seem to work. When we got up, we couldn't heat up the room. The water temperature in our shower varied quite a bit. It went from warm to very hot frequently so we had to keep readjusting the handle. That was it. With all the cruise passengers checking in and out, the lobby was a zoo but we expected that. read more

So we stayed here for five nights, in two rooms. The stay was ok, but nothing great. Cons: Older hotel, but there was some remodeling going on in the rooms next to us. There was remodeling going on in the rooms next to us. We did hear some work, but not bad. The air conditioner did not work in our room. The was a constant flow of heat coming from a wall vent that could not be controlled. We had the window open for the whole stay. Our room was in the NE corner overlooking the train depot and Air Force Base. There was some daytime train and jet noise. I like trains and planes so this does not bother me, but some may not like it. The Diamond Lounge is still closed. The deluxe king room is very small by today's standards. Pros: The staff is outstanding. Again, the staff is outstanding. An easy and safe walk to many great restaurants and bars. Great Hilton beds and bedding. The staff. Stayed here after a company holiday party. The company held its banquet here. First- they do NOT valet as advertised on their website. Once parked in their "valet" drive through it was near impossible to get back out because someone had parked in front of us and blocked us in. Went to check in, but the front desk stated we weren't "on the list" with the company (my husband is in management and we were checking in next to someone wearing company uniform). We were told to find somewhere else to go. Wow. Are they too full?? No, because I checked online to book a room and they had vacancies. We waited 30 mins for the same people to just say "oh, we can book you a room at the company party rate" as they should've just said in the first five mins. Bad customer service. Checked into an extremely dated room with sagging ceilings and mold. I was afraid the ceiling would collapse, the damage was that bad. Bathroom was so small and cramped. Tour group did word of mouth. 2 cookies for a group walking in is not service. Changing the lobby floor that morning smelled of chemicals and dust. Work should be done at night when guest are not waiting in the lobby breakfast area. Tall, strong men opened the door but didn't help the senior citizens in the group with the luggage. Beautiful hotel in a great location in Downtown Anchorage. The lobby was clean and very large, giving the feel of a high class place where all the movers and shakers gather. The staff was professional and very polite. The room was clean and smelled good. The bed was very comfortable and the room provided a nice view of downtown. Unfortunately there were a few issues with the room that were difficult to overlook. When I arrived I got settled in the room. The room was at 70° but was set to cool. I left and met up with family and friends. When I returned around midnight, the room was showing 74°. I turned the thermostat down and the air conditioning kicked on but would only run for 15 seconds and would shut off for about a minute. It continued to cycle like that, so I attempted to call the front desk to inquire about the issue and there was no answer on 2 separate occasions. So I just gave up and shut the whole system off and went to bed. The surrounding plaster around the access to the air conditioning panel was all broken out and if the previous occupants tried to access the AC unit and just ended up ruining the wall. The next morning I had to leave. I tried to turn on the cold water but the handle was broken and would spin freely, not allowing the valve to open, so I just used hot water. However, the most disturbing thing was the hotel provided Shampoo and Conditioner; they had been previously used. There was a few drops left in the containers, so I just rinsed my hands off and used the unopened body wash to wash up for my trip home. You know how sometimes when you order something online, it looks a lot nicer in photos and the actual product you get is disappointing? This is the hotel equivalent of that. The lobby makes the hotel seem a lot nicer than it actually is. The main thing this hotel has going for it is its location since it's downtown. Plenty of food, drink, and souvenir shop options within walking distance. I stayed in a room with a king size bed and there was hardly any space. I thought a hotel I stayed at in Times Square was small until I saw this room. I had a stunning view of another building directly across from the room. One of the lights was flickering which made the room feel haunted. On the bright side, the place was decently clean, checking in and out was easy enough, and the incidentals hold on my account was dropped a day or two after checkout. Mixed feelings for this hotel. Great location. Walking distance from the Alaska Rail station. Traveling by rails while in the state, arriving late and leaving early to catch a train, it was important that we can just walk to/from the train station. Curtain in the room didn't completely close, especially important during a summer month if you want to sleep. Service: I understand they are understaffed and sold out. I tried to help by checking on the app and requested for digital key. They couldn't get to it to release to me prior to my arrival although my room was already available. I could have skipped a lobby if they could just pushed a digital key to my phone. Restaurant: may want to just skip here and look somewhere else. They are understaffed too. One more positive note: I liked two large bears at the lobby. read more

I am so disappointed by the Hilton Anchorage. Hilton is an upperclass hotel brand and I've never had an issue with them before. However, this hotel was literally trashy - the hallways were full of trash all over the ground the entire 24 hours we were here. That is really gross and disappointing considering how expensive this place is. We even saw some staff members walking about, yet no one cleaned up the beer cans, boxes of trash or other junk laying around the entire floor we were on. The rugs in the hallway were grimey and stained. Overall a really bad first impression. The rooms were large, but similarly grimey. The parking is valet only which adds another $30-40 a day to cost. Yet, both times we had to pickup our car there was no one available and we had to wait around 10-15 minutes until the front desk got someone for us. This hotel also seems pretty full of large tours, like it's regularly contracted by Trafalgar or the cruise lines for large groups to stay here. Location was a really nice, prime spot klin downtown Anchorage. Very close walking distance to the trolley tours, tons of giftshops and restaurants. I would not recommend this hotel given how crazy expensive this place is only to find it dirty inside. I think there are better, more reasonable options outside the downtown area that are easily driveable or you could Uber. read more

This property refused to honor Hilton Honors Diamond benefits, which are designed to reward Hilton's most loyal customers, and refused to correct my bill after checkout. I was able to partially resolve this with them by phone. I was told that I would be credited the full amount due, but the revised bill I received by email shortly afterward showed otherwise. They only credited a total of $24 of the $48 in food and beverage credits to which we were entitled during our stay. When I followed up I was told that I wasn't entitled to any further credit, despite what the Hilton Honors program terms say. I made a second and third polite attempt to resolve this, but wanted the communication in writing. I sent a polite PM via the property's Facebook page, which they actively update, and again via email to the address listed on their FB profile. Both contacts were ignored. Completely disgusted, I finally contacted the Hilton Honors corporate office, confirmed that there is no ambiguity in the Hilton Diamond benefit, and that the property should have credited my stay with the additional $24 food and beverage credit that I was due. Hilton Honors also contacted this property at least twice on my behalf to have my bill corrected, but even they could not compel this location to credit my bill according to the Hilton Honors program terms. Thankfully, Hilton Honors made it right by mailing me a check for the $24, and they credited my Honors account with an additional 10,000 points as a token of apology. read more

This was a pretty poor excuse for an expensive Hilton. It's clearly designed to appeal to tour companies who can dump people off there for a night or two before moving to another part of the state. It's not a friendly place for an independent or business traveler. The front desk staff was rude and clearly wished they were elsewhere when we checked in. The paid parking for the hotel is across the street and completely unsecured. On our last morning, I witnessed two people breaking into a car as we were pulling out. When I called the front desk to tell them it didn't seem like this was a shocking event. The rooms themselves are cramped and dingey, or at least mine was. We were in the newer tower, but everything in it seemed old and dated. The fixtures in the bathroom were falling off the walls and the towels and sheets were somewhat scratchy. There was also sticky stuff ground into the carpet so every time I stepped my foot or sock would come away with some residue on it. Everything here could use a refresh. The ice machines on the top 3 floors were all out of service and when I finally found one it was dirty. The views were not great, which was a surprise as it's the tallest hotel in town. I had a partial view, but my friend had a view of a brick wall, which was crazy and made the small space feel even smaller. We're both Diamond members, but having any kind of Hilton status doesn't matter at this location. They barely wanted to give us bottles of water. One of my collegues was staying in a huge suite and while they had a ton of windows I would hardly say the view was very pretty. It was of an industrial part of town and didn't seem to justify the upgraded room. This is a super busy hotel in a very busy and touristy part of town. There's a lot of street noise, and I could hear music coming from outside or from somewhere in the hotel every night I was there until after midnight. The lobby is constantly crowded and getting help from the front desk is always a challenge because there are about 50 other people also in the space needing something or just milling around. The pull up area for check in is also a complete nightmare I didn't eat at the restaurant, but we had some drinks at the bar. The staff there was lovely. They were the highlights of the hotel. Alaska is lovely and Anchorage was fun, but I would never, ever stay at this hotel again. read more

I understand that it's hard finding people wanting to work right now after what's been the hardest year for many. I hate that the hotel was understaffed but this is a global hotel corporation, not your struggling local mom & pop shop type of hotel. This was a no frills experience from having outlets and phones that didn't work in the room to not getting housekeeping serve AT ALL. From asking if we get service while being here to requesting service every day we were there and we were there for 6 days, 5 nights! I hadn't had an experience like this even with their Hampton Inns or Hilton Garden Inns as well. You want towels? Well, you have to go down to the lobby because if you ask housekeeping, it won't show up. We literally had to tell them we would wait for them to give us clean towels and that service will be there tomorrow to replace and replenish. Didn't happen. Repeat this every day of our visit that we had an on-going joke but NOT a joke of "I bet we don't get service today" and sure enough, the pile of towels and trash when we opened the door remained. Just beware also, you will hear the float planes every 15 minutes and miraculously were able to request a fan to create white noise. Also, there was a day when 2 of the elevators went out of service and seemed like all of the Delta pilots and flight attendants just got in for their overnight so the lobby was absolute chaos as well. Anyway, the one thing this hotel has going for it is it's basically accessible to everything in downtown. Walking distance to G St where all the eating spots and bars are. I just wish we didn't have the daily restful return back to our hotel room and instead we paid to live in our own dorm room for the week. Also the bell men were super friendly and respectful. In order to frame this review, it would be helpful if you watched The Grand Budapest Hotel before reading. I've been coming up and staying in this hotel for work since 2018. This stay has been, by far, the worst experience. This hotel would be cutting edge if it were 1983. To say it is dated is an understatement. It has a large, spacious lobby with a small breakfast and lunch space on one side and Bruins bar and restaurant on the other. There is a small sundries store by the elevators as there is no truly close option to pick up anything. As there are no microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms, there is a small microwave located outside the small coffee shop that has changed names about four times since I started coming up here. You can request a refrigerator and potentially a microwave with 24 hours notice. There is a breakfast buffet on the weekends only for $23.95 which serves the same food you will get at any embassy suites. During the weekdays, there is only an al a carte menu. I stopped eating there when I paid $33.00 for eggs Benedict with hash browns and four Jimmy dean sausage links. For reasons I don't understand, I was given a handicapped access room. This room has an extremely low commode in the bathroom. Looking at the dated bathroom mirror that is painted silver and black, I take note of the "this room has been cleaned and sanitized for your safety and comfort" sticker on it. It is quite the juxtaposition seeing as there are yellow drip stains along the baseboards in the bathroom. The white sofa has three prominent black stains on it, so I have chosen not to sit on that little fella. The carpets are all dirty brown, consistent with how the melting snow and dirt would look if it were caked into it. The pillows on the bed are all crushed from overuse without replacement. Halfway through the visit I stopped using them all together. Although I stayed on the 14th floor, the nightly screaming of the homeless population woke me most nights like I was in the movie, "I am legend". The walls are so thin between the rooms, the next room occupants cell phone alarm woke me a 3 am and then 3:02, 3:15 and finally at 3:21. They are a snoozer apparently. I had the pleasure of listening to the next occupant arguing with his lady about being unfaithful. Better entertainment than the Alaska channel to be sure. There are two random cutouts in my rooms wall I would assume to access the air vents. I ate at Bruins once. The waitress spilled my plate of wings, losing 4 out of 6 celery spears. Luckily, she left them in the middle of the table so I would see that they would not be replaced. None of the staff here appears to be competent or happy to be working. I am a smoker. I don't smoke in hotel rooms. I can tell you that I was accosted by Anchorage's homeless population about 95% of my cigarettes out in from of the hotel lobby. This experience really helps out with the tourism market in this town. Overall, a solid 1. Microwaves and refrigerators are industry standards. Not here though, as I am thinking this hotel needs your money for breakfast or dinner in addition to the $200-$300 they are getting for the room. This hotel looks like it is being managed by someone who once watched a television show about running a hotel. There is no coffee option in the lobby other than the $4-$5 a cup until 2 pm. There are no laundry facilities but you can charge $40-$60 per bag of laundry done by the hotel staff. The rooms need a refresh. They entire hotel needs a refresh, but as it is the big Hilton property...it won't get right anytime soon. Would recommend that Hilton corporate offices come out and stay here unannounced and without the dog and pony show they hotel would undoubtedly do to hide the literal dumpiness of this place. Long story short, (I know, too late). This is either the worst Hilton experience I have ever had, or it is the best Roadway Inn experience I will ever have. read more

It's pretty sad to see they don't have enough staff to run the hotel. Check in supposed to be at 3pm but our room didn't get ready until 6pm. So we killed our time eating dinner. When we checked in, we saw so many trash on the floor and We noticed that housekeeping ppl didn't vacuum the floor. The toilet didn't flush property so I asked for an engineering, he came up soon and fixed. The pillow smelled like dogs. I called front desk and was told that "they only have 3 housekeepers today", and couldn't get any help to vacuum the room. No one called me back at all. I couldn't sleep so I went to front desk to see if I can talk to a manager. First front desk man told me that she is too busy. But after I explained the situation she came out. I talked to Sesi at 12:15am. She said she will review my stay and call me back, she noted my number and never called me back. 2 days later, I called the hotel and she was off. I called the general Hilton customer center and waited 1.5 hours and no one answered. What a Great customer service at this location and got frustrated enough. Paid over $300 a night for the worlds tiniest room. First night was crammed into two double beds for myself, husband and two kids. Beds were so small and uncomfortable so changed to king with rollaway. Had to put one chair on top of furniture and other in front of bedside stand to fit rollaway. Still ended up sharing king bed with one kid. Breakfast was $80 for the four of us for buffet only. I would look around a bit if I came back for a larger room and affordable breakfast. Stayed the first two nights and the final night here as part of the 12 day Collette Alaska Yukon land sea tour. Expensive hotel, and hard to get reservations in July and August, as extensively used for tour groups. Hotel looks to be two hotels combined into one. The east tower was once the Anchorage tower, built in 1971, and the tallest hotel in Alaska. The west tower is newer and a completely different design, with multiple giant conference and convention rooms and a swimming pool. Huge expansive and extravagant looking lobby, with plenty of sitting chairs and sofas for guests. Both of my stays were in the 26 floor 250 foot high east tower. Serviced by only two elevators, so the waits during the early morning checkouts can be substantial. First two nights we were in room 1968 on the 19th floor with a view of the mountains in the background, and nearby stores of historic downtown Anchorage. There were no other buildings over 6 stories to be seen. Spacious unit was 13' x 23', with windows the entire width of the room and both blackout and sheer drapes. Blackout drapes are very important, as daylight last 20+ hours in the summer in the land of the midnight sun. Bring safety pins to hold the curtains together. Two comfortable full size beds, and granite topped desk and bathroom counters. Beds were too narrow for two full sized adults like ourselves, but may have been OK for two small people Noisy AC, electronic safe, dresser, closet, 36" flat screen HD cable TV, shortage of electrical outlets near the desk, no refrigerator and no microwave. They figure if you can afford the $300 room you don't eat leftovers! Extra wide bathtub with shower and stopper -lot of places have dispensed with the bathtub stopper, as it breaks easily and to save water. Free continuous wifi, with password from front desk. Anchorage would be the only place with strong wifi during our 12 day tour. In our second stay we were in room 1762 on floor 17 next to the elevator, with a view of the harbor area. Had to keep the window closed due to west tower rooftop ACs running. High enough so that could not hear the train running in a distance. One of the blackout curtains was torn in the area where one pulled the curtain closed. I was fortunate to have great window views from both of my rooms. Some rooms, like room 635 have a view of the roof and building wall. Restaurant next to lobby. No free breakfast with our stay, but the tour provided vouchers for use with the breakfast buffet, which was quite good. Tiny fitness center next to lobby. No signs of construction in progress. No self service washer/dryer on the premises. If you can afford this hotel, you can place an order for your expensive brand name clothes to be cleaned, dried, ironed and folded. They have a business center with two PCs, but the connection is very slow and a first: the boarding passes printed were too large to be successfully scanned by TSA at the airport! Right in the center of historic downtown Anchorage, with a dozen restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Valet parking $30 -welcome to Alaska! And no shuttle to the airport. I requested to have a refrigerator in my room but was told that I had to request it 24 hrs in advance. Refrigerators have become a necessity and are standard at most hotels. This was my first disappointment. My second one was when I got to my room (924). There was black gunk caked into the sink. Gross. They changed me to a different room. Awful service. Got in at around midnight and then we were told that the rooms aren't ready and won't be until 8am or later the next day because housekeeping had not cleaned them. Mind you checkin is at 3pm and they had 9 hours past that. Zero empathy from the young large kid with spiky black hair. We had two additional reservations with the same result. Kicker is Hilton Honors and customer service is closed. The staff refused to even look for an alternate site and could care less that we all just flew 5k miles and got in near midnight which is about 4am our time zone. read more

Came here as part of a tour group and stayed 2 non-consecutive nights. The room was not what I expected from a Hilton. It was not designed for comfort. 2nd night our room was near the elevator and we heard it most of the night. The breakfast buffet was both expensive and disappointing. $28 for the hot buffet that was scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon. No pancake or waffle options $19 for continental -rolls, bread, cereal. They were running out of rolls (which were stale anyway) when we got there, no cereal bowls available (had to wait for someone to fetch some) and no milk available (waited more than 5 minutes then gave up). We had to wait for coffee more than 5 minutes. For these prices, what they had should have been better. Absolutely would NOT stay here again if I am choosing. read more

Honestly the staff here couldn't be any more personable. Our room is lovely to comfy clean beds very nice restaurant downstairs kind of a sports bar sort of place. They also have more of a café style restaurant Spoke with the FNB manager the front desk manager and above and beyond the bell Captain Bryan Manage to secure our lost luggage and get it to our cruise ship two hours away through his ingenuity and savvy with another tour bus coming to the dock. Hotel was ok but my wife left some clothes by mistake and the management was of little help in finding. We stayed August 16-18,2024 in room 1970 and the housekeeping staff took the clothes without turning in to lost and found. Hotel manager was not too concerned about our loss and theft of the clothes. read more

We stayed here on the last night of an Alaskan land cruise. Our room was a joke to say the least. There was a large piece of furniture placed right in front of the window that was so oversized your could barely get between it and the bed. The room smelled musty and smoky and didn't seem very clean. The bathroom had black areas of grout and the toilet was like a toilet out of a public restroom. The floor had black marks that looked like someone dropped a mascara wand and it was never cleaned between occupants. I do not recommend staying here if you have a choice. The worst hotel ever stayed in my life. Extremely aged and rude staff. The room has constant noise right after we move in. It's almost midnight. When asking to changing room, the front desk staff is extremely rude and told us no spare room left and suggested us to wear ear plugs.... We are speechless. This is the first time living Hilton, way worse than Marriott and Hyatt. Will never book this hotel grand anymore. Please find other places if you visit anchorage. read more
