This is supposed to be one of the better hotels in Anchorage? Wow. This whole place is filthy. It's dilapidated. Miserable. It smells bad. I am paying 720 dollars for this one night in this filthy place. And this is the lowest price room they have. The manager's response to my characterization of this hotel as "filthy" was, "I apologize for the inconvenience." Everything is worn out. Everything is filthy. I am staying here an extra day as part of a Regent Seven Seas cruise. Regent is paying for tomorrow. I cannot believe that a luxury cruise line -- much less "the world's most luxurious cruise line" -- puts its passengers here. I suspect that it's an old relationship. But Regent needs to visit this place and rethink this relationship. And if you're thinking of staying here, I urge you to rethink too. read more

This is the perfect location in downtown. Everything is within walking distance so you don't need to travel far for anything. The hotel was nice and clean. As soon as you walk in you can see the restaurant in the lobby. Free WiFi and mobile keys. You can check in within the app do you don't need to check in with front desk at all. Thankful for the concierge Emerson. He was a rock star. After a red eye flight, he found an empty room and gave me a REALLY EARLY check in time. He was a huge help and super friendly. Very thankful for him. The only odd thing about the room was the mini fridge in the corner of the room haha. I don't mind it especially for a small town like Anchorage. We stayed at the Hilton Anchorage on August 7th for one night before our cruise. Due to flight delays, we didn't arrive and check in until around midnight. Unfortunately, for a room that cost us nearly $600 for the night, the overall experience was very underwhelming. The front desk staff at check-in were pleasant enough, but weren't particularly helpful and seemed unable to answer fairly basic questions about the surrounding area. Once we got to our room, the condition of it was immediately disappointing. The room and carpeting looked worn and overdue for an update, to the point that I didn't even feel comfortable leaving our luggage on the floor and instead put it on a bench. The sliding door to the balcony had been left partially open when we arrived and was extremely difficult to slide. I genuinely can't imagine a frail or elderly guest being able to easily open or close it on their own, which was a little unsettling. We did appreciate having a balcony and a view of the water, but there was also trash left on the balcony ledge from a previous guest's beverage. We were exhausted and slept fine, but the next morning we asked whether we could have even a slightly later checkout and were told absolutely not because the hotel was fully booked. I understand that late checkout can't always be accommodated, but considering we had paid nearly $600 for a single night, hadn't arrived until midnight, and my husband is a Hilton Honors Gold member, the complete lack of flexibility--even an additional 30 minutes to an hour--was disappointing. The daytime staff didn't seem any more helpful than the overnight staff. At one point there was also a child riding a scooter around the hotel lobby without anyone intervening, which seemed like an unnecessary safety/liability issue in a busy common area. Overall, our stay was just "meh," which would be easier to overlook at a budget hotel. At nearly $600 for one night, however, the worn condition of the room, lack of attention to detail, and generally unhelpful service made the value extremely poor. The balcony and water view were nice, but nowhere near enough to justify the price. We absolutely would not pay $600 to stay here again. Based on this experience, I'm honestly not sure we'd choose to stay here again even at $200 a night. read more

This hotel was part of the benefits of a suite on Regent Seven Seas Cruises. So I not only stayed there, I stayed an extra night. Some background. I travel internationally for business for 40 years. I have stayed in over 4,000 nights of hotels. I have stayed in many, many Hilton's. This was with no question, the worst. 1) no internet for both nights we stayed their; 2) The room was never serviced between each night of our stay; 3) The room itself needed to be updated badly which is important to say, it cost $500.00 a night. Next time I will take the cruise lines credit and stay somewhere else. I hate to do reviews like this. But I have to be transparent and fair to how I felt. A really odd experience here. The lobby looks great! And our room wasn't bad either, but you can certainly tell they are trying to remodel. Or I'm praying that's what's going on here. Our furniture didn't really make sense, the mini fridge was sitting outside and across the room from where it would/will eventually be placed. And the table with a drawer was butted up against the couch so you couldn't open the drawer. Not like I would anyway...but it was a bit disorganized. First off, our phone didn't work. None of the numbers worked to call, anywhere. I couldn't get a hold of the front desk, or house keeping. So when we needed to ask for something we had to go all the way down to the front desk. Which was annoying. The gym! Wow. We were decently impressed with the gym. They have a Peloton, Concept 2 rower, and a few treadmills. They had yoga mats, towels, and a water dispenser. And all with a great view! When we went back later that night though...everything was gone. We followed the signs to the Fitness Center on the 5th floor but when we got to that floor every room door was open with the beds disheveled and no one was there. The signs led us to nowhere. It was the weirdest thing. So yet again, another trip to the front desk and she said the gym was closed for the night and was being relocated elsewhere and would open in the morning. You have to pay for parking to park in their unguarded lot. It's $25 a day. Breakfast isn't great. And while you get $15 a person as a resort credit to use on food...breakfast is $28.95 a person. I honestly wouldn't pay any money for this breakfast unless you are desperate. It's not worth it. Long story short. We would never stay here again and I would recommend you stay away as well. read more

A regular room with a king bed sucks. The entire room is filled up by the bed and the bathroom is tiny. We had to ask for a mini fridge to be brought up to the room. Upon checkin on the app, I had the ability to choose my own room, so on the app, I chose an available room on one of the top floors. When my room came ready I noticed I was numerous floors lower than what I chose. When I asked I was told I was "upgraded" to a deluxe room. If this room was an upgrade I'd hate to see a normal room. I requested queen beds and the beds in this upgrade are full size as evidenced by the fact we can't comfortably sleep two people on one bed. The water pressure is so low in the shower that you have to basically stand against the wall to shower and it's made more difficult by a metal soap holder protruding from the wall where you need to stand to get the water. Further, there's only approximately three (3) tv channels...one sports, one news, and one random channel. The other two (pictures) and frozen and won't change. For Hilton brand, this hotel is kinda horrible. We won't be staying here anymore. read more

Mediocre at best. So disappointing, I won't be back, you shouldn't also. It would have been nice to have on property parking. I literally had a Sherpa walk me out and point to the parking. In my room, the phone didn't work, the lights didn't work, the toilet ran at random times, and the heating/cooling system seemed to be possessed. To add insult to injury there is no room service for breakfast. The website says there is. I go down and it just gets worse. I am handed a lousy small box, by a sweet woman who doesn't speak English but is fully capable of charging me almost $30 for lousy Sysco breakfast. HORRENDOUS! Filthy room and subpar amenities! I called to report my room hadn't been cleaned. Filthy carpet with remains from the last guest and dirty sheets. The person at the front desk stated she could not move our room and could only send housekeeping. When I let her know we also needed clean sheets she became aggressive and when I asked her her name she stated, "Cinderella" and hung up on me! I immediately went to the front desk and to report this experience to Regent cruise lines who put us up in this subpar hotel. Very shocked at all the low ratings. Had me pretty scared to stay here. We were part of a cruise group that came in. There were only 7 of us that showed up at the hotel at once. The staff wasn't very friendly. Especially if we asked questions about our luggage. Norwegian didn't tell us anything, so we were completely lost at what was going on. So when the staff wasn't rude to us when we were asking questions we were taken back. I'm sure they were overwhelmed with the amount of people that were coming in. But all guests shouldn't be treated alike. We were very pleasant to them. Other than that, the hotel is pretty nice. They are in the middle of upgrades. So it is a bit of a mess in certain areas. One thing I was concerned about was stair access being blocked. I was on the second floor and wanted to take the stairs with all the incoming traffic and the elevators being busy. The first floor exit to the lobby was blocked and I had to go back up the stairs and take the elevator down. HUGE OSHA violation. The hotel seemed very clean, my room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. One downside is not all rooms have refrigerators. My mom is a diabetic and didn't have a refrigerator in her room for her insulin. But my room did. read more

So disappointed. As a Hilton Honors customer I expected so much more. Was at this Hilton as part of an NCL pre-cruise tour package. NCL had booked multiple rooms. We were given wrong information by the desk clerk twice. He told us the NCL REP would be here at noon, when we came back at noon the same rep told us they had the keys to our room but the rep wouldn't be available until 4pm. At 4:30, the NCL rep made it clear the Hilton would not release keys to us that we had to go back to the desk for check in. Standing in line at check-in, it was obvious we were not the only ones affected by misinformation. The hotel is also under construction currently. This is a major inconvenience, although maybe necessary. While I would typically recommend a Hilton Hotel, this would be one I would not recommend. It is chaotic and appears the folks at the desk may not know what is actually going on. Tried to enjoy the hotel bar and restaurant, Bruins, but that wasn't to be. It was a mess. Order an Old fashioned m, the bartender said she rain out of glasses, smallest Old fashioned ever. Wont order one again. Come on Hilton, you are better than this. read more

Not the typical Hilton experience I'm used to. The check in was fine because I did it all on the app. They assigned me a room on the second floor, which I promptly changed to something higher so I could enjoy the view. When I did have to interact with the staff, I had to get my room key reactivated because they only activated it for one night. I was there for FIVE. Once I got my rental car, I parked in the lot across the street which was fine. The room was okay, but the location of the hotel with a train that seemed to run at all hours of the night made it a bit challenging to get any good sleep. Thankfully they had blackout curtains for the Alaskan Summer. The concierge/bellman/security people seemed nice enough, however only one of them actually greeted me. The rest seemed to be standing around waiting for something to do, or chatting amongst each other. A second encounter with the front desk person seemed promising as I had advised them I no longer needed a late check out and asked for the charge to be removed from my account. They assured me that no charge would be applied, but alas it appeared on my folio once I reviewed it after arriving back home. Still trying to reach someone AT the hotel to get that removed. Overall, probably wouldn't stay here again. Disappointed as this is not what I would have expected for a Hilton property. read more

I just completed another stay at the Hilton Anchorage. The renovations look to be nearly completed and they are stunning. But the beautiful finishes aren't the reason I'm taking time to write this review. I'm writing it because I feel compelled to uncover one of the property's secret weapons, hostess Melissa G! Melissa G's warm personality and engaging demeanor was just what the doctor ordered during check-in on a frigid (-7 degree) Tuesday evening. I'm appreciative of how she remembered small details, like how much I value the gym, and how much I look forward to breakfast at the property. As a proud Silver member, I'm impressed by the consistency of Melissa G's hospitality and professionalism. The Hilton Anchorage's aesthetic appeal is improving by leaps and bounds, but its hosts like Melissa G that are the heartbeat and soul of the property. For a cost of almost $500/night I expect a top quality hotel experience. This place is a joke. There was black mold in the shower. We had 2 towels and 1 washcloth in the bathroom. Apparently it is expected that you reuse your still damp towel from the evening for your morning shower and you're supposed to share one washcloth. Really?!? Got in around midnight and the person that checked me in said breakfast was included. It wasn't. The waiter was kind enough to ONLY charge us $40 for the buffet that you'd expect to find at any motel. The hotel is right next to the train station which is quite loud and runs all night long. Not so great when looking for good rest. The walls are paper thin. I got to listen to the neighbors early television program. Oh yay. People were lying all over the floors and couches/chairs of the common areas, apparently in the same position I was. Not sure if it was poor management or lack of adequate staffing but this is unacceptable and I would recommend staying elsewhere. The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Anchorage, close to the train station which is where we were headed. The proximity to the train station didn't matter because even though it's close, we still had to take an Uber/taxi because it would be nearly impossible or at least hazardous to try to drag our luggage to the train depot. The hotel is in rough shape (which is probably why it is being renovated). The hotel is undergoing renovation so parts of the lobby are closed, including the restaurant. I'm not sure if this part of downtown is particularly rough, but there is a security guard stationed at the front entrance 24/7. The rooms are relatively big, but they are dated, particularly the bathroom. I thought all of the rooms were cold, but I learned from my other fellow travelers that their heat worked....I discovered that my thermostat was broken so the first night was a bit uncomfortably cold. On the positive side, the fitness center is huge with a few leg machines and free weights (along with standard cardio machines). read more

Parking is atrocious. $25/day to park a block away and be told when I checked in that the lot was full and that I'd have to park on the street. They couldn't find my reservation - I mentioned that I checked in online. He didn't offer me a hard key - he stated that I could just use my digital key. Felt like I was putting him out asking for a hard key. The restaurant service was horrible at lunch today. I waited about five minutes before the executive chef saw me standing at the entrance and he sat me and said someone would be right with me. Took quite awhile to wave a server down and ask for a menu. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was very good. Angelini F was the most disrespectful associate here. She claimed to be a supervisor and it is no wonder that this hotel only has 2.5 stars given the service provided. Incredibly dismissive and rude. Emerson the front office manager was no better. Whoever gave these two a raise needs to have their own position reevaluated. Multiple rooms in the new tower had ac units that did not work -- ours included. Our window wouldn't stay open to allow fresh air in. It was a known thing that there were rooms with non functioning ac units yet they booked their rooms to full capacity. My daughter and I are sick now and there's nothing done to help with fresh air flow or any offers to make even the current room comfortable. Eta: Jeff Jobe is an absolute amazing person! He showed us so much kindness and compassion and helped us fix the issue with our ac. Thank you so much Jeff. You have no idea how much you helped us. Arrived today at 8:30 pm and was put into a room right next to the elevator which sounded like an airplane taking off everything three seconds. Asked to switch rooms...all booked up they said ...so sorry! But they assured me that the noise would go away in an hour. It is now past midnight and the "747's" still are taking off. I have sleep apnea and stage five kidney disease...so sleep is essential. Would not kennel my dog in this place. This is not a room that should be in use. But greed leads them to think it is an appropriatee option. I wonder if I should inform the managers that hotels are often used to give folks at lotto a good night's sleep. I'm excited to share my experience at the Anchorage Hilton. The property is being renovated, so Hilton is clearly committed to making sure their guest continue to enjoy the space. Now, I have mention the outstanding hospitality of to two hosts at the property. Melissa G and Emerson both made the experience of checking in truly next level. Their hospitality, professionalism, and warmth made me feel valued and familiar, like we were longtime friends. This went far beyond offering water and making sure I knew the gym had been temporarily moved from the 5th floor to the 15th floor due to renovations. They were personable and relatable with infectious personalities. As I reflect on my stay, I realize they are the most valuable asset to the Anchorage Hilton. My experience with Melissa G and Emerson was a reminder that beautiful spaces are nice, but the people are what make for a transformational stay. Check in and check out were friendly and quick. Room was clean. Perhaps a bit dated and tired, but we got a good price and didn't stay in the room much besides sleep. Not worth the price. We thought this location would be super convenient for its proximity to the train depot and didn't rent a car for our first days in anchorage with this hotel. But I would recommend booking a long term stay type hotel in midtown such as Spring Hill suites and get a rental car instead. There is not much to do without a car. Also when we asked the hotel if breakfast was included, they said it was and when we actually ate breakfast it cost upward of $30/pp for some eggs sautéed with veggies and other continental basic stuff. Totally not worth it, plan to go somewhere else and get a second opinion on whether breakfast is included for you from the restaurant people cause the front desk doesn't know. read more

Not a great place. Tiny rooms, the pool had so much chlorine it burned my eyes just walking into the room! The hotel room didn't have a mini-fridge for our leftovers so we requested one. They said they'd bring it. An hour later we sent our son down to follow up about it. They said a parent needed to go with him so I went down and asked. They said they'd send one up and I heard the lady call it in. We waited and waited and eventually went to sleep at 11 pm. It never came and our leftovers went bad. read more

Just checked in last night before leaving on a cruise with Regent. I traveled extensively throughout my career...35 years worth. I have never been so appalled by a hotel room. The closet doors are broken, the room is shabby, old, and smelly. The bathroom barely has room for my toothbrush and it looks like, at best, they updated the room in the 1980's or 1990's. The only positive is at least the bed is comfortable. The pictures here I just took after awakening this morning following a 21-hour travel day. I will be contacting both Regent and Hilton. I'm not a complaining type of person but this is so unacceptable. Hilton should be embarrassed to have their name on this building and to start a "luxury" cruise like this isn't a positive. read more

I rather disappointing experience for someone who stays in hotels 2 weeks a month. Diamond members usually get room upgrades to include a view. This is prob the worst view you can get. (Normally I don't care. But when I travel to amazing locations. It matters to me.) I came to Alaska for the 1st time ever. And I gotta stare out at HVACS. The tower has 22 floors and the other west side of hotel has 15 floors. You are telling me.... This is the best room for a diamond member? At least give me a view of downtown. There was no upper lobby or social room to hang out and enjoy the views. There is no executive lounge. (Main reason why I choose flagship hotel.) I would rather work from a lounge than my hotel room. There are ALOT of senior cruise patrons spending the night. The lobby can get really crowded and breakfast. staff members seemed pretty busy and unfortunately takes a slight decline on services. (I don't blame them at all. Some of these cruisers can be high maintenance. The room was clean. But certain. Outlets did not work. Which was really annoying. Bc I like to charge my cellphone on my bed side. But had to find a working outlet across the room. Not a big deal in the big picture, but one would expect a room that works. I will be back to Anchorage in a few weeks. But will have to change hotels as the expense, lack of membership perks is not worth it at all. Parking is across the block. The location is great!
