Im 6 ft tall and can't reach that without getting up..who designed that placement?
    Allan U.

It actually pains me to write this review for a brand that I love and that I am loyal to. I do business with them often and vacation with mariott as my personal preference. So to be clear this just for the Anchorage Alaska location. I am going to preface this with I understand there are policies and procedures and that my status with the chain does not guarantee me certain perks. But as any ordinary guest. there is a standard of care that is expected especially from a full service marriott. Here is where the Anchorage location fell short: 1) There was no room service Menu in the room. Upon calling room service, I asked if there was a menu available we could select from. They didn't know and put me on hold for 10 minutes so I hung up and went downstairs to eat. Its a yes or no question. 2) they have a computer avaialble for travelers to check email and print boarding passes. The printer was out of paper and I went to the desk to ask for paper and the first person acted like they didn't know if they could give me paper. Finally one person recognized this and gave me a few sheets. It should not have Been that difficult. I called the bonvoy elite line and even they agreed this was ridiculous and offered to create an incident number. 3) My room was booked by a third party as I was on a cruise. So I understand that I would not get elite night credits or points as the reservation is under the cruise. But I communicated my status and can show proof that I have platinum elite status and asked if I could get into the platinum lounge because this where I get a snack and bottle water to take my medication. Usually at the least, at check in they supply members with a complimentary bottle water or have one in the room. No such luck (I understood there was a chance they would say no). But its not impossible. I travel with marriott for business and often under third party bookings or block reservation rooms at other properties and its never been a problem till this property. 4) the toilet paper is comically too far from the toilet, you have get up to grab a sheet of paper or be that long stretchy arm guy from the fantastic 4. (See picture). 5) i watched the elevator doors hit a guest and almost hit another. The elevator doors are fast and close quickly. I had to ask one person if she was ok. The saving grace was the restaurant staff were a joy and executed their job well so I didn't provide a single star rating. Do better Anchorage marriott on at least the first two things. When I do have to travel to Alaska in the future, I will think twice about revisiting this property. I don't know if the manager will contact me. But I would like to give feedback at the end of my stay.

After 2 weeks away from home, sleeping on a cruise ship and Alaskan lodges, the Marriott Anchorage was the perfect way to end my trip. The room was very large, updated and comfortable. The shower was wonderful with a rain shower-head. The view from my room was lovely and I was able to see the water! The best thing about the room was the bed. It was big and fluffy! I sunk into it like a cloud and slept so well. My only recommendation for improvement is paint touch ups that were needed in the room and bathroom. I would highly recommend the Marriott Anchorage!

First, I want to give credit to all the employees that we interacted with. They were uniformly nice and supportive. That being said, there were some issues with the hotel. We were missing towels when we got in the room and the toilet was plugged. We had to ask twice before these issues were resolved. We were on the concierge level and the PC there was inoperable. The PC on the ground floor could only be used to print boarding passes. We needed proof of vaccination forms printed and we couldn't do that. The food provided for breakfast was fine but the evening snack was pretty meager. Plus $8.50 for a Coors Light is crazy. Our room was updated and was just fine. The view was outstanding.

My Birthday Get Away Room 1404!

When we need a get away living in Alaska Judy & I come here to recharge! This Marriott has 1 of 3 heated salt water swimming pools in the state! So definitely pack a bathing suit and flip flops! Ask the front dest to have a couple robes sent up to your room too! There is a full service bar on the first floor too so grab a cocktail in a plastic cup and head to the pool! We ask for a King Room with a View and if you choose the high floors like a 1404 which we just stayed in or 1604 we've stayed in that one too before you can get Cook Inlet views and watch planes taking off from Ted Steven's Airport from your high window! This was just a 1 night Birthday Getaway. With great restaurants all within walking distance this place would be my choice if I didn't live in Anchorage and had to choose a nice hotel. Room service is great too Eggs Benedict my favorite. If you're Gold Elite status you can Access the Top Floor Bar with free drinks and appetizers. We could have but skipped that this time.

Heaven forbid you have a billing issue with this hotel - they will just make a reason up. Opened a billing dispute on 5/10/24. Now 6/4/24 stating that the double charge was for an early departure at the Anchorage Marriott. The Anchorage accounting department had a month to look into this and that was the justification for the double billing. The funny thing is I said in my initial email to my ambassador that I had extended my original stay by a day and it looked like they double billed me for the additional day. That tells me they didn't look at anything and just came up with a sorry excuse to get me out of their hair. I've been with Marriott since around 2013. I have had lifetime platinum, been titanium for most my time with them, and finally made Ambassador this year. I was dumb to be loyal to them for so long, I'm off to Hilton. Before I do, time to salt the earth on my way out. I'm going to post this on any review site that matters and copy corporate on my way out. Thanks a bunch Anchorage Marriott Back-office!! It was a great 11 year run but it frees me up to work on my lifetime Hilton status without any guilt. It's about the principle of the matter at this point.

Great location that you can walk to almost everything but is in the heart of downtown. Amazing water views from high floors. So request one. Service was top notch and rooms have new furniture update with super comfy beds. Only down side is no in room safe for us. Bonvoy members breakfast is full English breakfast and then some on the top floor with great views from 6am to 10am. Afternoon snacks (they charge for alcohol) good too from 5pm to 10pm.

The accommodations were absolutely wonderful--comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The staff truly made the experience unforgettable. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding--delicious, fresh, and consistently impressive throughout our stay. And the valet service? Exceptional!! Seamless, efficient, and always delivered with a smile. This has officially become our NEW favorite place to stay when we're in Anchorage. We're already looking forward to our next visit. Highly, highly recommend! Rooms We had a room on the 16th floor... the views were mindblowing.. the room so comfortable absolute perfection. Nearby activities Centrally located, we were there for medical reasons and just 5 min. from the Drs. offices. Safety We felt perfectly safe the entire time and went for several walks to explore the city. Walkability Convenient to EVERYTHING! Perfect location! Food & drinks We ate at the Crow's Nest, Fletchers and grabbed coffee at the Cubby all were delightful and delicious! As I walked through the lobby and in the elevators I was taken aback by how outdated this place was. This was especially apparent in the elevator with the gaudy faux gold hand rails and the smelly outdated carpet. It felt 1980's for sure! The room was average at best. I did have lunch and dinner at their restaurants and was very disappointed except for one (I will drop reviews on those restaurants). I love the history. But it's not enough for me to pay top dollar for an average hotel room. I will not be coming back.

We had a really long drive on 5/15/2026, and checked in around 6 pm and Eurina L, was pleasant and friendly, and made us feel welcome! While I had booked my room through a third- party company, she found our reservation and was able to change us from a king bed to two double beds. That's great customer service. She even asked us what floor we would like to be on. I think she could see how tired we were from driving, so she gave us a nice room on the1st floor which was very convenient - since we knew we would be coming and going from our truck to our room. She made a great choice.. we were close to our vehicle so we didn't have to walk far to unpack our vehicle. Our room was cozy with a heater and an air conditioner. The beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure for the shower. Thank you to Eurina for making our evening welcoming and enjoyable. A second shout out to Boyd, at breakfast. Boyd was busy giving all the patrons their requests. I only saw him at breakfast and he was working hard but he was still friendly and helpful. He actually cared you could tell, that we got exactly what we needed for breakfast. The fruit was great and the hot meal was tasty. Thank you to both Eurina and Boyd for the hospitality. We appreciate you!!

2026.01.19 UPDATED 1-star to a 2-star: So after staying…read morethere it got a little better. The woman on the night shift was apologetic for the phone issues (though it's a Millennium issue, as she doesn't have control over getting them fixed). She offered us 2-vouchers for breakfast and waived the resort fee (whatever that is for...this is not a resort even if you squint), so glad to not have to pay that. Hotel: it's a bit worn, hallway carpet is pretty worn; the hallway walls, it's obvious if you know where to look (hint the loose wallpaper bubbles) that there was originally wallpaper that was then painted over w/a high gloss paint to give it a face lift and a bit more life. There was a shuttle...it was just parked at the hotel. I would think they'd watch the incoming flights and try to bet at the airport particularity when they have late check-ins on the books. Oddly the rooms are numbered in the 1000's...for the 1st floor, it was confusing b/c we went into the elevator then realized there were only 3-floors; oh and if you have a room in the 1050-1060's...it'll be a walk...it's a loooong hotel, though there is a 2nd entrance that you can use to shorten the walk from the parking lot. Room: big and spacious, and on a positive note the bed is comfortable (not stiff like many hotels, even upper brands) and the pillows were soft, so we had a decent nights sleep. The bed 'could' use a heavier comforter being in Alaska (cold!), the one they had was move of an early autumn thickness. The rooms is kinda cold so keep the heat on 68-70 b/c there's a window A/C w/ no insulation or even a cover one it, and the only thing between the cold 10deg Alaskan air leaking is is a heavy curtain...fortunately the bed is a good 5' from the window. The sink faucet was very loose, like is this gonna leak loose. There also was a broken reading light on the headboard w/ wires somewhat exposed that could become an electrical hazard. The door had an undercut that allowed the hallway light in like it was a small spotlight b/c it's directly in line of the bed (for the sleeper on the left). Safety-wise that undercut is not good, if there was a fire in the room the smoke would get pulled into that hallway, and if a fire in the hallway then it'd get pulled into the room...not good, the doors should seal. Breakfast buffet: food was fine and fresh (the maple bacon was awesome)...it's a basic offering: scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, waffles, breakfast potatoes, oatmeal, toast/muffins, juice and coffee is served in 16oz cups so plenty to drink; staff is friendly. 2026.01.11 Well...we booked a couple nights through Chase Travel Portal using points. We chose this as it is very close to the airport, rooms looked good and and a place to eat on-site, *AND* b/c we were coming in with on a red-eye and they state they have a 14hr airport shuttle. Yeaaaaa that's not true...and on top of that when calling to find out how/where to get it you just go to voicemail or the line is busy. So we got a Lyft instead. Son't stay here if you need a shuttle at 1am or need to call them in the wee hours for any reason.
