Amazing and friendly staff. You can tell that they really care about their customers. I'm glad I found a great shop that I trust with my car. Thanks for everything! I love the looks of my car again!

Wow, what an amazing experience at Hillyard Automotive in Sterling, VA! On my way to work, my Tesla Model 3 got a flat tire. As any Tesla owner knows, it can be tough finding a shop that works on electric cars, so I was relieved to find Hillyard Automotive right nearby. The flat was unfortunately not repairable, but Austen Collins, the service consultant, went above and beyond. When I mentioned I had spare tires at home, he personally drove me in his own car to pick them up! That kind of customer care is rare these days. Once back at the shop, the team quickly mounted, balanced, and aligned the tires -- I was in and out in no time. The owner, Mike Hilliard, could not have been friendlier. He made me feel like family the moment I walked in. The pricing was very fair, the work was excellent, and the customer service was second to none. If you're looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind automotive shop -- especially if you drive a Tesla or any EV -- I can't recommend Hillyard Automotive enough!

Replaced valve cover gaskets on my vintage vet and didn't get 50 miles before they were leaking on the manifolds. Charged me 600 to install. Took the vet to a local shop that replaced and fixed their crappy job from Hillyard with caulk gaskets charged me one hour for 60$ and never had anymore leaks. I would absolutely not recommend this company for repairs. If the owner would like to issue a refund i'd be happy to accept that as an apology. Or return my phone calls.

Mike hooked me up with some fabulous after-market parts that are much better than the OEM option and the price was also much better.

I really wanted to have a good experience with Universally Modified…read more I appreciate They are a family run and worked business of brothers and Ryan's wife. But they will not properly torque fasteners. There had been a metallic rattling since the first time I had them install the front sway bar. I drove it that way for six months or so. They always said the reason for the metallic rattling was because of the BMR components I had them install not having the rubber bushings. Then when me and another guy put my 2022 Mach 1 up on a lift and started looking it over and working on it we were disappointed to find Universally Modified destroyed my front sway bar end links due to not torquing down fasteners and using zero thread locker! I asked them multiple times to use the proper thread locker on all the fasteners. So after fixing the sway bar properly, the car is silent now! Um multiple times have not torque down or at least used a thread locker to keep fasteners from totally backing off. Universally Modified also did not tell me about an exhaust leak we found. I have put a lot of thought for weeks into thinking about/processing the information to make sure I am doing the right thing. They also couldn't get my wheel weights to stay on my wheels. But the plus for them is they did suggest a good place to go and have my Wheels properly Road force balanced. Each time something was not done right I tried to be calm and decent about it when I communicated with them. when I told Universally Modified about each issue, they did not apologize and didn't say what can I do to make it right, didn't say it would not happen in the future, nothing. I feel unsafe using Universally Modified due to them, causing my car to lose control on the street or on the track, and kill or enter others and myself! They will not answer or return my phone calls I tried calling multiple times to communicate with universally Modified in order to speak with them and get their side/viewpoint before I posted this.

So I decided to give UNIVERSALLY MODIFIED a chance to service my vehicle and other(s) moving forward if this experience works out. It wasn't long to find that this shop is extremely overrated and overpriced and THEY CAN'T PROVIDE WHAT WAS PROMISSED! My issue on my 1969 Mustang was the vibration and hesitation on acceleration, I was estimated by Troy initially for $4952.62 of recommended services! I was shocked to see them write this estimate, and to SUM it all up, they wanted to put bigger holly carbs, new starter, and tune up the car. Put in mind that it's a pristine 1969 Mustang Mach 1 which is up for sale for $90K, by no means this car needed anything like this kind of service, I explained how we replaced the Harmonic Balancer and that that didn't change vibration and I left the old Balancer in the car for them to see. After we agreed on the services above, I was promised this vibration and hesitation was going to be eliminated. Upon pick up, the Mustang Road like garbage! I immediately contact Troy explain my concerns, after paying him $3486.23. Troy responded by saying "owe yea we put the old Harmonic Balancer back in the car and vibration a lot less now? He also after my distressed concerns, he actually said that the car "might need a new engine because if that the vibration can be something internal" I was outraged to hear any of this after the FACT! "This was NOT told to me prior pick up or paying for this outrageous invoice. I expected him to warrant his repairs and to correct his mistakes. So I left the vehicle with Troy again for the second time on 5/11/2022 at UNIVERSALLY MODIFIED in Sterling, Troy sent me message afterwards to tell me - HIS WORDS! Hey Sean this is Troy, We actually found the issue. After inspecting the flex plate (trans removal wasn't required), we found that the flex plate and harmonic balancer were actually the 28oz imbalance. Since they were indeed matched, we proceeded with removing the oil pan to look at the crankshaft and discovered that the crankshaft was indeed internally balance and shouldn't have those parts on them. We were able to remove the counter balance on the flex plate and we swapped the balancer with an internally balanced unit and the vibration is gone!!! I also have more great news on the engine internals that are definitely going to boost the price/salability! It's a fully forged bottom end, Ford Performance SVO Block and Hydraulic Roller Cam. That's some big money in the Small block ford world. The engine is probably around 15-18k new" - HIS WORDS! Nothing ever mentioned at one time that he was planning on charging you another $1654.10 to replace the Harmonic Balance AGAIN! $1200 of that was labor! It's a external part on the outside of the engine where pulleys are located! This was the final insult for me, He charged $38 for another oil filter, $20-$30 of gaskets for FORD MUSTANG?? Seriously!?? I pay $12 for PORSCHE high end oil filters, how does FORD cost more?? My conclusion is that this shop LOVES to Surcharge ever nickel and dime that they can from there clients! COMPLETE SCAMMERS! Thank you for reading this you have been warned to STAY FAR AWAY FROM UNIVERSALLY MODIFIED in Sterling VA.

After that numerous repairs/ upgrades to BMWs and Minis. The work was flawless. Big shoutouts to Ron, Kevin and Ahmad. My last super favorable repairs involved 2019 BMW M2 Competition (road debris damaged front bumper/ spoiler and oil cooler) and 2020 BMW X3M Competition (rear side bumper damaged - owner (me) inflicted). Both those repairs managed by Ahmad and Ron, respectively were what I've come to expect from this bodyshop. My most recent work was fine. The order was for refinish and paint rear bumper, lower rockers and roof on BMW X3M Competition. D&V remains very dedicated to meeting timelines and do a thorough inspection of the vehicle at check-in. When I received the X3 back, I detected a door ding and they were able to show me in the check-in pics that the ding was preexisting. The post inspection is not quite as stellar. X3 was returned with paint damage near the roof rails (which were removed to complete the roof paint work) and there was some sort of overspray on the rear roof pillar and on the lower front bumper (driver side). I was able to clay bar, for the most part, the overspray from those locations. Additionally, the interior had a very strong paint odor - still hints of it today. D&V does warranty their work and offered to repair/ repaint the paint damage near the roof rack but I've decided to hold off on that for now. Finding a great bodyshop is like finding a great barber - one hates having to search out, find and experience a new one. That said, I'm shopping around for a new shop now but haven't given up on D&V. Ron, Kevin and Ahmad have a great deal of "cred" stored up with me and I truly hope the quality and attention to detail that has had me as a customer for nearly two decades returns/ continues.

I had a 3:30 p.m. appointment for an oil change and tire repair and was told my vehicle would be ready before your 6:00 p.m. closing time. When I called at 5:00 p.m. for an update, I was told there was no ETA. At 5:30 p.m., one of your mechanics called--not to provide an update, but to scold me for not leaving the wheel lock key. I apologized and explained that I don't know much about cars and didn't know it was needed. I asked him to cancel the tire repair and complete only the oil change. When I arrived at 5:45 p.m., I was told it would be another 10 minutes and that I might have to stay after closing. A routine oil change should not take over three hours, especially with an appointment. Instead, my vehicle was kept overnight, meaning an oil change took more than two days. The delay was frustrating, but the mechanic's disrespectful and unprofessional attitude was worse. I should not be scolded for not knowing a technical requirement--that is why I pay professionals for service. Had anyone started on my vehicle earlier, I could have brought the wheel lock key. This was my first visit to this location, and it will be my last. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and sharing my experience in online reviews. I also expect my vehicle to be ready when you open, as your staff has shown no respect for my time.

After taking a look myself, I noticed the balancing weights were so loose I could wiggle them with my finger. I returned my vehicle, and it also turned out the weights were striking my caliper. I appreciated their honesty about that but they have given me no reason to believe it did not damage anything, and I do not think it's a coincidence that the TPS monitor on that specific side went out, so on top of everything else I had to pay another shop to replace it. They supposedly rebalanced it a second time, but then my steering wheel started shaking violently at highway speeds (not to mention the noise from the tire persisted). I returned it for a second time; they supposedly balanced it again; however, the noise continued, and my steering wheel was still shaking. I decided to look myself and realized my lug nuts were not tightened completely. They were so loose I could twist them by hand (just like the balancing weights). I tightened them, and the noise and shaking steering wheel immediately stopped. I'm extremely upset that this potentially put myself and my family in danger. I contemplated returning to show them the lug nuts problem, but decided it was no longer worth wasting my time because. They have given me no reason to believe anything would have been done. At best, I would maybe receive an apology, which fixes nothing. At worst, they could have denied any wrongdoing. After roughly a decade of giving them my business, I no longer have faith in the quality of their work and hope there are changes made so nobody else has a similar experience.
